Simple, easy-- totally unprofessional. Called ahead of time-- guy on the phone told me 10 am the next day to get docs notarized. I showed up at 10:05. No notary. And Michael running the counter says he doesn't know how to call her to find out how late she's running. Then he raises his voice at me when I suggest they ought to do a better job with promising services and then falling through, especially when someone calls ahead. I guess he's not open to constructive criticism, because he was yelling at me in front of other customers as I walked out the door. read more

I love going to PO Plus. I have been using them for more than 10 years. People who work at PO Plus are friendly, polite, sincere, and honest. They often have friendly dog visitors which you can pet too. Once in a while they do get backed up and busy, but I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes which has only happened three or fours times. I have parking karma when I stop to pickup mail. I always find a parking place within five minutes right outside the store or just around the corner. They recognize me after all this time and I feel very welcomed. I came into PO Plus this afternoon to get some papers notarized. I was first greeted by a friendly staff member and then a bonus greeting from a very cute dog. The person who did my notary was Dorcas. We sat and did the notary and chatted. She was so helpful and thorough and walked me through all the steps I needed to do. Dorcas also assisted me with mailing my papers, and created a smooth and professional transaction. She was a delight to say the least. I had a pretty challenging package to be wrapped up - two heavy wood glass-paned windows. Everything went fine until the actual addressing. I guess there is a very similarly named street around the corner from my intended destination. The delivery system asks for zip code first and I guess my PO+ helper didn't notice the slight nuance in the incorrect address nor did I ... until the next day. But, with a phone call to PO+, it was all resolved and there was no delay to my package delivery. It may not have been a perfect experience but, how a company recovers from a error is just as important as being error-free - and who can claim to be error-free? read more

My partner and I have been going here for the past four years or so. I am so glad to have a neighborhood gay post office! As staffers have gotten to know me over the years, they have warmed right up and I always get good service. Like any small business, they have their super hectic times and their slow times. Like any business, patience while waiting your turn in line and a generally upbeat attitude are appreciated. As much as I like the regular employees, I also appreciate getting to know new employees when they rotate through. What a gem of a store!!! I have had such bad experiences in the city with copy/fax/mail places but the experience I had at PO Plus today was such a breath of fresh air. The guys (and Katie the darling dog!) are so friendly and accommodating and it is truly a one stop shop. I've been going to PO Plus for over 10 years, using every one of their services (Shipping, Mailbox, Printing, Copying, Faxing and Notary). Growing up in a small town where my Mom owned multiple gift shops, I understand the value that small businesses provide. For me it all comes down to that one on one personal service where employees are not just robots, but people who care about their customers. Living in the Castro where it is impossible to have packages left at the door due to theft and vandalism, I consider myself lucky to have PO Plus within easy walking distance. If I have several boxes to pick up, the clerks will keep an eye on them while I transport them to my car, and even help me get them to the car. I can't imagine a US Post Office offering this kind of added value. For me, a stop at PO Plus is not a chore, but a nostalgic reminder of what I miss most about living in a small town - friendly, professional people who are there to help and ensure that their customers are treated like friends and neighbors. read more

I use to love the neighborhood feel of PO Plus but it went a way as the staff rotated out after the sale. It would be amazing if the staff could acknowledge my standing in a line of just me in under 5 minutes. Since this happened twice in a row it seems to be the new policy. Asking a question that is actually related to the transaction is great customer service. Being given attitude when asking a clarifying questions is ridiculous. read more

Fast, extremely helpful service. I called first to find out if they had a notary on hand. They had 3 available that morning! Great! When I got there the store was completely stocked with various options to purchase postage... They notarized my document quickly, asked me to fill out my envelope while he filled out his notary book (to be efficient which I appreciate) and we were ready to go! I've been going to P.O. Plus for quite a few years and one of the most outstanding features has been the friendliness of the people who work there. I've gone/go there to pick up packages, send packages, surrender bags of packing material, notaries, postage, etc. I just returned from there about 30 minutes ago and the vibe is way off. I get the end-of-the-day thing, but this was an unexpected gruffness that left me feeling like I had walked in and asked someone to co-sign a loan or something. Many of the regulars that I knew by name are no longer there. I hope Paul can cheer up the ones who are there. I don't like to write complaints, but I feel that a semblance of courtesy isn't asking too much. read more

I check my po box here a few times a week. Last night fighting an oncoming cold I was in space and left all of my keys dangling out of the po box. In a mild panic I thought I'd left them on MUNI. Within an hour Adam had left a message for me on Facebook to let me know they'd found my keys and had them securely available for me to retrieve them. Upon realizing that my passport expires in a few months, I came to P.O. Plus to get my passport photo taken. The team here is super friendly and helpful and the owner Steve is great! He took the best passport photo (now I don't have to be embarassed on showing my passport to friends) and got everything ready for me to be mailed out. All I needed to do was stuff my passport and application into the envelope and hand him my credit card for payment. Super easy and fast, it only took 10 mins! WOW! I went to the UPS Store at Market/Castro and was told it would be $77 to ship a box to Oregon. At PO Plus, as soon as I walked in, despite being rather busy, every employee smiled and got me out the door for $30 with the same service! The staff was always so friendly and helpful, and I miss the convenience of having all my postal needs met within mere feet from my front door. I have a two-minutes-old amazing service story to share. My husband shipped a package full of Christmas gifts (some handmade) to our family in England earlier today. He did not pay for a tracking number. Poor man, how could he know about all of my prior experiences shipping packages without tracking numbers that were never delivered, sent to other countries for no reason, returned a year later, and so on? I just called P.O. Plus to see if the package was still there. They looked, it was, and they've just FIXED it in the space of a few minutes.
