I HATE the post office. I LOVE P.O. Plus. Going into USPS & FedEx/UPS locations makes my skin crawl. Their systems seem so archaic & I'm pretty sure most employees are just robots with human skin overtop of their metal skeletal systems. At P.O. I don't know why I would ever go anywhere else in SF to make copies, get something notarized or to ship anything. The people here are competent, efficient and friendly. I have been coming for years for various services and have always been happy with my experience. Recently, I made the mistake of going to a UPS store to have some documents notarized. It seemed fairly straightforward but the guy had to ask me which stamp to use! And he made me write some statements on the documents. It all seemed sketchy and afterwards, I was worried the notarized documents would be rejected on the basis of not being properly done. So, I came here to get the same documents notarized and instantly felt relieved. The notary knew exactly what needed to be done and everything was handled in a professional manner. And then she helped me find the cheapest way to get the documents to their destination. Thank you! read more

I love this place. There is no reason to suffer the US Post Office, with it's long lines and limited hours, when a block away, you can sail in to this place and have a totally pleasant experience. I LOVE this place. At this time and age, we rarely use snail mail for anything but if you need to do anything mail-related or get anything notarized, this place is AMAZING!!!!! I spend some time in PO Plus every week, and I can honestly say I've seen them deal graciously and fairly with every customer, whether that person is just asking a question or shipping multiple packages, getting something notarized, FAXing, copying or picking up packages and mail. If you're waiting for an important package, they will call you when it arrives. If you're moving house and find 10 boxes full of styrofoam packing pellets in your garage, they will recycle them for you. Now I like to open my packages right there on the counter so they can take care of all the boxes and packing materials for me. I just can't say enough about how great they are. Maybe the fact that I still keep a box there after moving two neighborhoods away says it all. read more

Yep. They're great at PO Plus. I've used them for notary services and for mailing packages - every time it's an enjoyable experience. (Which is saying a lot-it's not like mailing stuff is fun.) I also trust them to package things for mailing. These guys are awesome. Sweet, helpful, courteous. I am an artist and sending off work to collectors or galleries is always difficult- large boxes, hard-to-protect items, and things I care very much about. They will go above and beyond to do things right and be good to you. They even make it pretty. They also worked hard to find more affordable solutions for me (like taking an inch off my box so that it didn't get FedEx's "large parcel" fee, which would have DOUBLED shipping costs. Based on the good Yelp reviews, I visited P.O. Plus for the first time today and had a very nice experience! I had to get a passport photo taken ($10), photocopies made (.10 per copy), and documents sent via UPS express. All the employees were friendly and professional, and my visit was quick and easy. Would definitely recommend them! read more

I was sure even though I typed in yelp for a free notary service that the ones that got listed were in fact not free, however I spoke with Paul at P.O. Plus and he was extremely nice and informed me that the cost was not free, gave me the hours for this services and also coping services. Even though it is not free, unless I find a free place, I will most likely go here since he was so nice on the phone.. I can't give a five star ratting only because I have never used their services yet, and I have to blame the loss of one star because of yelp listing as free service.. based on my 0hone call, I am sure it is a five Starr business. read more

this place beats the living crap out of the USPS on 18th Street! being in the habit of sending random items found at thrift stores or sidewalk sales to unsuspecting friends i am in steady need of a place that will wrap, pack and ship these items. i totally love rolling up in here with whatever the item of the week happens to be, say for instance a white plastic wall clock , the face of which is made up of the various hair-do and maquillage incarnations of Linda Evangelista where the numerals ought to have been. then i whip it outta my bag and hand it over to one of the friendly and engaging bear dudes who work there; they never bat an eye at the ephemera du jour. they simply get it all ready to go for me and send it on its way to who knows where. read more

Passport Photos and Excellent Service... I recently realized that my passport is expiring, I called and asked PO Plus if they took photos for passports and they said come on down. I did so, and not only was it the quickest service ever, the photos are probably some of the best I have had for any ID. In addition, during my visit, it was nice to see the staff enjoyably interacting with the clientele. There was this one little boy (maybe 5 years old) who came in with his mother, and he asked if he could use the "Kids Mail Box" (yes they set aside one of their mail boxes especially for kids. They fill it with trinkets and fun things like stickers and other items. Whenever a kid comes in with his parent, he can get the key from an employee and open the box to grab some "kid mail"... truly fun)... Sadly with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the kids mailbox was empty. Seeing the sad look in the boy's face, the owner, Steve, quickly jumped in and grabbed a giant candy cane off the counter. He offered it to the boy (with the mom's permission) who excitedly received it with a huge grin. The mom may have not been overly excited about all the sugar, but the joy on her kid's face obviously was reflected in her own smile as she looked at him. PO Plus, is a great neighborhood business. Definitely worth checking out for your mailing and other needs. read more

Ummm... I just got charged $14 for faxing 11 pages. FOURTEEN DOLLARS?!?! I'm all for supporting local businesses in my neighborhood but not at the expense of eating lunch. By far the best place to ship your mail in the neighborhood. The staff is super friendly and they will tape your boxes for free. You can use their computers to print return labels for a small fee. Almost no lines and fast service. read more

I've gone to PO Plus often over the years for my shipping, copying, faxing, and notary needs. Sometimes I've been a bit distracted while there (other things on the mind, or in the morning and not yet really awake) and the staff there have always been super helpful and extremely polite. I once left a business related check on the copy machine for a very large amount and which they kindly retrieved and returned to me. The greeting card selection is pretty good too if you don't feel up for another block walk to Walgreens. read more

Ok, so you might think that one notary is like any other. Not so! I once had a notary come to my house to notarize (a plus), but who then proceeded to test his pen by scratching it back and forth on my wood table (big minus). The experience I write about would separate the mere mortal from the gods: 14 signatures among hundreds of pages. Sean (not his real spelling) was a consummate professional, keeping us entertained while he accomplished a very important role in our legalistic society. In short, if you have to waste some time getting a document notarized, as least have some fun doing it. read more

I just moved to Corona Heights which has wonderful views, but very few services. Yelp pointed me to this fine shop right across Market. Yesterday I bundled up all my items of business: a contract document that needed first class mailing, several bills, some things I need copied, a cell phone that needed to be wrapped and FedExed, and 2 faxes. I walked in and warned Jason that I had quite a lot of things to do and he suggested we just start at the beginning (I had written a list of things to do!). Within 10 minutes of his working with me to address and box and < $10.00 in costs my To-Do list was a lot shorter and my bag a lot lighter. These guys are friendly, competent, helpful, and didn't at all seem put-out by the fact that I had a mega-agenda. read more

well you pay a small premium but it's so worthwhile when you dont want to sit in line for poor service at the usps a few blocks up the hill. usps opens at 8am and that's a plus but hard to think of anything else they have that is better than po plus. it's been around for years and years and they are always fast and friendly. and lots of other services like paper shredding so that's great too. read more

I visited P.O. Plus to get my photo taken so I could renew my passport and change my name on aforementioned passport. The staff there were so friendly and attentive; when I walked in, all the staff members were assisting other customers, but I was nevertheless greeted and informed the wait wouldn't be long. I only waited a couple of minutes until I was assisted. The gentleman helping me with the passport photos was very knowledgable about the passport photo requirements and took multiple photos so I could choose the one I was happiest with (btw, it's so weird they don't let you show a toothy smile in passport photos anymore... so unnatural!). I brought all of my passport forms with me as well, and once the photos were printed out, the employee offered to review and collate all the forms along with the photos so that everything would be in tip-top shape for the government. They addressed the envelope, I was able to pay for shipping there, and they mailed the documents for me. It was a one-stop shop and I loved that about them! My husband needs to get his passport renewed and I will definitely be pointing him in the direction of P.O. Plus because they made the process so easy! read more
