Absolutely one of the top mailbox/shipping stores in SF. LOVE these guys, they are friendly, funny and extremely helpful. The store is run like a Swiss timepiece, well managed and efficient. I've never waited longer then a few minutes for service and they handle every shipping need you could possibly want. They will offer all the different pricing options to meet your budget as well as making sure your packages gets there as fast or slow as you want. ;) They are never annoyed or throw attitude when I come in with untaped boxes, no boxes, no idea how I want to ship or even when I have to search for the address I'm shipping to. Their hours are great, they always seem open when I need to mail stuff, they are open most national holidays (a great convenience). Not only is this place great for shredding, but it's also got a friendly and efficient notary service. Basically, you can come here for anything you need taken care of in the "what do I do about these papers??" department. Shredding---super simple. You just walk in hand them your shredding. They weigh it and charge you. You can either watch them feed it into the locked shredding bin (gray bin) or trust them to do it later. Notary---you'll need to wait your turn. When it's your turn, you get a friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient (as in efficiently does everything right without skipping any signature spots) notary. I would go directly here the next time I need a notary. I'm not sure how their prices compare, but if they are any more expensive than anywhere else it's because they are worth it. Why would you mess with the post office or ANY other mail service? I have been a customer for over 5 years and my experience has been AWSOME ! So many service buisnesses these days get by with mediocre staff and spotty service. This PO plus has been a literal lifesaver for me, shipping medications and auto parts when I have been stranded. Being proactive and calling me if they had a question which helps alot when your traveling. People seriously just forget the rest and come here...excellent service, great staff, no shenanigans. Absolutely wonderful staff, extremely helpful. After going to many UPS, FedEx and other shipping companies and being quoted outrageous prices and treated pretty badly, my husband and I stopped by this place just to see what they could do. Paul was so helpful, and extremely nice and handled our requests with respect and helped us figure out our best options for internationally shipping a painting. Top notch service. Absolutely top notch. I walk in with my huge UPS package and some tape to tape the printed shipping label to the package. The guy behind the counter was quick to attend to me. He reached out to take the printed label and although I brought in my own tape, he said "No worries, we don't need it!". Try getting free tape from UPS down on Market Street! Living close by, I go to PO plus weekly to mail all my crap. No more long lines at the post office for me. Today I took in a huge back of old mail to be shredded. Yes they shred! 1.50 per pound and it is so worth it. Yes, I could have done it myself, but who wants to sit there and here that stupid machine on a quiet Saturday afternoon? I'm in there and I'm out of there, rarely having to wait more than a minute or two. Plus, when I wanted to mail a box of foodie food to some friends back East - I brought in my shopping bags and the helpful staff packed it all perfect, gave me my shipping options and had me out of there in 10 minutes. For the past ten years, the HQ of my small IT consulting shop has been a box at P.O. Plus. Rather than trying to receive packages at my home, they all go to P.O. Plus where I can pick them up when I'm ready. They're my one-stop shop for shipping, copies, and notary public services. Their team provides excellent customer service. I went to PO Plus because I had read the great reviews, and I was not disappointed. I showed up to get some documents notarized and I was in & out with notarized documents & a bunch of stamps in less than 10 minutes. They were friendly, fast and professional. As I was leaving the store, they noticed I had a child stroller with me, and the man helping me asked if I needed help getting the stroller down the stairs (which I did), and he was great enough to help me. The bears are gone, which is too bad. They were beautiful! They charge $15 to notarize a signature and have odd rules for when they will do it. The notary was standing right there and I was the only customer in the store. They wouldn't notarize my signature because they were "too busy." They had time to play with their dog and discuss what kind of treat to give her and whether to put her in a crate or keep her outside. Yeah, I can see how busy you are. Wells Fargo across the street notarized my signature for free and did it cheerfully, without any waiting or strange rules. I needed to ship a framed photograph. I wanted to make sure the glass didn't break. They did a great job mummifying it in bubble wrap and sealing it in a box. It was nine dollars for the materials and their time. No complaints from me there. The item arrived in tact. When I was told how much it would cost to mail it, I was surprised it was so expensive. I asked how much the post office would charge. They must know this, but the employee would not tell me, although he was polite and admitted that it would be cheaper to take it to the post office. I decided to take a chance and walk the three blocks to the post office on 18th Street. I was lucky. There was no line. And I found out that P.O. Plus was going to charge me twice the post office rate. In some cases, it may be worth it to save time, but be aware that you are paying a 100% markup on postage if you ship from P.O. Plus. Maybe that's what the "Plus" means. It might be worth paying the markup on a Sunday, when the post office is not an option, but they are closed on Sundays. read more

They also do USPS postage and mailing - why go to the USPS down the street and wait forever when you can just do it here?? Normally mailing things is a pretty painful process as far as wait time and customer service goes, but not if you take your package to PO Plus. They're friendly, efficient, and always do their best to set me up with the best courier service for what I need. Plus, the crew is so personable, and they make me feel better about parting with whatever I'm shipping off, as opposed to the unspirited toss of my niece's almost-late birthday present into a mystery bin at the post office. They also stock lots of great add-ons, like birthday cards, and maps of SF, which I like to throw in for people who are about to come visit me. Extra love for PO Plus for playing Golden Girls on TV last time I was there. Not being a self-proclaimed Golden Girls fan, I was really surprised how much that extra touch really brightened my day. Anyways, what I mean by all this is this: I brought in a bubble wrapped 18" x 24" painting. They boxed and packed it and found me the best deal on shipping. $50 for packing materials and to ship it across the country. Super duper easy and wonderful. I've tried this place a few times and had good experiences. It feels like a friendly, locally-owned shop, which is great. There's even a friendly dog lounging around behind the counter. However, as I stood there watching the guy completely load up my boxes with packaging peanuts, I had to ask the question -- "are those things environmentally-friendly?" Nope. Apparently they use styrofoam peanuts. With so many alternatives, like starch-based biodegradable peanuts or recycled paper, it's hugely disappointing to me that they want to add more styrofoam to our environment. The gentleman did say they will re-use box packaging that customers bring in to give to them. But I wonder, is that to be green or more for their bottom line -- free packaging for them. read more

Rather than fighting my disdain of lawyers and mortgage brokers who require paper and faxes and paper and...I have decided to let the luddite in me jump for joy at such practices because they mean I get to treat myself to a visit at P O Plus! After all, it's only been good things that have brought me here: refinancing at better rates...filing my taxes (yep, still using paper!) to get a refund (of course, the time value of money would dictate that I should be happy paying the gvt back to maximize my interest on the cash while I can ....but I'm a simple person....). What does this mean for you? Copy machines (color or B/W), faxing, paper clips, stapler, staple removers, and yes, P.O. Boxes! I don't ever want to leave 1980! Supporting the time warp is 70s and 80s music augmented by super friendly staff and a warm, community atmosphere. About 2 months ago, around 3pm when the place was empty, one other person entered and lo & behold it was my bud Tony there to collect his mail. Love the 'hood. Love P O Plus. read more

He even loaned us their rolley to convey our package home! have used PO Plus for over 20 years for shipping, duplicating, greeting cards, notarizing, packing material and now custom packing. These guys are incredible. I've been selling some high end audio equipment on ebay. I've been bringing the sold pieces down to PO Plus to pack and ship, and they've handled it all without a glitch. These are big awkward items. One amp was 90+ pounds. I just drop it off-- they make it happen, with care and sensitivity. Their rates are at the upper end of what you'll find, but if quality of service is what's important to you, look no further. They do what is really a thankless job, and do it with aplomb. read more

The staff is friendly and attentive and are expert in all the small details of shipping. When I've had issues with Fedex or UPS, they know how to help, when I've had odd shaped things to ship, they have the packing for it, when I receive 20 packages in a week they offer a cart to help me carry it.
