Now 24 hours, I was excited to get a late bite at this P-terry's that I pass all of the time. It was actually for a celebration of my friend's birthday. I am strangely addicted to tracking my macros and so I order the chicken nuggets every time (look up the protein, it's insane!). The woman who took my order was super nice and she yelled at the kitchen staff to drop my nuggets into the fryer. They were super fresh and were delicious with buffalo sauce. P-terry's might not be the cheapest fast food in town any longer but it still serves the same quality every time. This location was clean and, although weirdly dark, it had a good vibe. I loved the experience today... kind of. I walked in and it was busy. The dine-in area wasn't busy more so the drive thru, so when I went to the register, I told the staff, "It's okay don't worry take your time." A guy (the receipt says the server was Christobal) smiled and said it's okay I can take your order. I ordered a cookie and oh my goats I love their cookies. The guy asked if that would complete my order, but I told him I didn't know if I wanted food, and he asked me if I was feeling food at that moment. I said yes to food and ordered a chicken burger as well. His vibe was great. He had asked me if I wanted a drink too and mentioned there were milkshakes, but I said no. However, I kept thinking about it while waiting for my order that I decided to get one. A different person took this order. The lady heard me say strawberry lemonade when she put my order, but since there's no way I could see that and she didn't read back my order, I ended up paying for that. When I saw my receipt, I got really emotional maybe because I had a really long day and am sick. Nevertheless, I asked her if I could pay the difference for a strawberry milkshake, but she just charged me for a whole milkshake so I had to end up taking the lemonade. I wasn't so happy about that. Instead of spending $9, I spent a total of $12. It was all made up when a different dude gave me my order and gave me a cookie. He was so sweet. When I left I waived him goodbye and he waived back. Nice little P. Terry's off the highway. Warning: parking is kind of terrible. I think there's like six spaces? And you can't tell if it's full or not easily as you come from the access road. But it is right up against a Target so we often just park there instead of even trying to park at the restaurant itself (especially since we're not shopping at Target). Inside is clean and the staff is nice. Food comes out fresh, like super hot off the grill or out of the fryer. The veggie burger is so good and you can get your burger as a lettuce wrap instead of getting the bun. Great for the days I want to consider my calorie count. If you get the wrap, you get the sauce on the side. That's even greater portion control, well as long as you're not eating the whole thing, it's always a little too much for me, but I appreciate it still. Stop in for your P. Terry's fix. read more

It took twenty years but I finally stepped foot inside a P. Terry's. I'm making an assumption that this is representative of all in incorporating vibrant color and natural light in the dining room. Staff was helpful and hard working, if Chick-fil-a is "S-Tier" service wise these guys fell into a "A" or "Tier 1". Was not crowded. Order was taken at the counter and I got my own drink and had a seat. They seemed a little taken aback with my double meat double cheese order when I said no bun. But the changed it to a lettuce wrap and were happily. The inside is a lot of glass and wedge shaped dining room. Different in a good way. Dining area was not real large but was adequate for the number of customers inside. Most customers were in the drive through or picked up their food to go. Music was at a good level and not sure how to describe the genre but I liked it. Not all the tables were bussed and the seat bench where I sat had some food debris on it. The floor inside was clean. I have to say my cheese burgers tasted VERY good! I may have to ditch In and Out and Whataburger going forward. Yes, this is easily better than my burger places I frequent at a similar price point. Well, I tried and am done. Three more trips, two more bad experiences. I even went inside to see if things would be different. They weren't. They do a weird thing though, when I went inside the young woman working the cash register was also cooking burgers. Apparently, her cooking duties took priority as she ignored the front for an extended period of time and with just one person in front of me it took almost 10 minutes to just place my order. This P.Terry's was the cleanest one I've been to here in Austin. From the outside it looked like any other store but inside was really cool! They had these floor to ceiling windows that let so much natural light in that the place felt so comfortable! When we walked up to the register to order they were very patient with us asking for modifications on the burgers. If you're going to get food out this way, I'd absolutely consider coming here. Perhaps I am being a little harsh to this joint, but we came here after a late night, and we had been told from a Texas native that it was better than my Californian In n out. I don't think it was even close, to be honest. The service was great: super simple and to the point. Clean facilities, and easy to order and be on our way. We sat down to enjoy the food we ordered, and the first thing that I noticed? The fries are marginally better than In n out. Marginally. I thought they were fluffy and well fried, but that was not the defining factor on my comparison list. I bit into the standard burger, and I was pretty disappointed. It was a good a burger as any burger, but certainly does not compete with In n out. Flavors were more muted, the toppings were less, and the sauce was underwhelming. The milkshake was also marginally worse than In n out. I commend their similar price point, but to me, I don't think it's close. I'll be back next time to try again. read more

I'm from California where In-N-Out is everyone's favorite (not mine! even though i'm CA born and raised. Californians disown me if you will‍). My friends took me here while I was visiting Texas and I was excited to see a very budget friendly menu being from CA and all. I ordered a hamburger with everything on it, fries, and one of their shakes. Found it all to be absolutely delicious (better than In-N-Out!), and also very inexpensive. The quality and taste of food did not disappoint. The employees were friendly, and this location was very clean. My group stopped in around early lunch so it wasn't very busy. If I'm ever in Austin again, I'll definitely be paying P. Terrys a visit and perhaps try some other items off their menu! read more

I have been in the drive thru line for 5 minutes. It's a Wednesday morning. I'm sixth car in line. In the past 5 minutes I have moved up one car length. I am going to be late to work if we're moving 5 minutes per car. They have these sticks so you can't pull out of line. This is not the first time I have waited this long in line; last time was a couple weeks ago later in the day, it took about 15 minutes to get 2 burgers and fries. Update: the total wait was 17 minutes for a single sandwich and coffee. And the sandwich was incorrect - not the biggest deal, since there's not much variation on the breakfast menu, but still! A late night flight back and to be honest, Austin's late night dining options aren't as robust as I think it should be. However, I'd seen P Terry's signs up and down the highway and never stopped in. Well, seeing as how I was in the mood for something quick I was ready to try out an unknown quantity. When I pulled up into the drive through lane I saw that they said all their food is made fresh with fresh ingredients; which I took with a grain of salt. I ended up getting their double cheeseburger and did the bacon and jalapenos for an upcharge. I pulled away and took a bite, not expecting much from a late-night cheeseburger but I was pleasantly surprised. The jalapenos weren't too spicy but added a kick and it did taste fresh. While the food is good for the price I will not go there again. I have been there three times each time I order online and pay with my credit card. Each time they act like they have never had a pick up from the website and are not sure what to do. They treat you like you are trying to steal from them. The last time I was there the woman in the window basically accused me of stealing. I showed her my phone where I paid for the order. I ordered the double meat with cheese and made it a combo. Their fries were homemade with the perfect crisp. I washed it down with their signature lemonade which was very refreshing and my sweet tooth was satisfied with their famous $1 Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie.
