This location does not represent P Terry's that I know in love. I hate to leave a three star review, but the truth is the truth. The story needs a lot of help. I get into the drive to in the past and it seemed to be pretty good but today, I decided to eat inside the restaurant and that was a huge mistake. I'm not gonna name manager's name, but he was taking orders and he just really wasn't professional at all. I told him a double cheeseburger no lettuce and tomato. Add bacon guess what the food showed up lettuce, tomato and bacon. I brought it up to his attention and he said I repeated the order and this is what you ordered. I was like OK man don't worry about it. The tables were dirty they haven't been wiped off. The soda machine doesn't taste like it has any type of syrup in it whatsoever. The ketchup dispatcher was completely out. No one seemed to care that this store was just simply a mess. Come on P Terrys you guys do great at all your locations so I'm not sure what's going on with this one. I know it's a high traffic location. Would it be close to the school but still you guys gotta do a better job. I gave three stars only because the food tastes good. The store needs a lot of help. Today was the last straw. The drive-thru employee handed me my food, shut the window, and walked away. I stayed parked because I needed to ask for one more thing I forgot. She clearly saw me still sitting there and chose to ignore me. No "Did you need anything else?" No check-in. Nothing. The cook eventually had to come to the window to help me...something that never should have been necessary. Forgetting to ask for something should not be a humiliating experience. Chick-fil-A would never do this. They stay attentive, they check back, and they help, even when customers forget something. That's basic service. This location feels passive-aggressive, unwelcoming, and oddly irritated by the very people keeping it in business. That's a management issue, not a customer issue. Why be mad at me? I'm a repeat customer who orders the same SIMPLE STUFF EVERY TIME. I've tried. I wrote another review before this. Same mess, no change. Now I get it. If management reads this, talk to your team but realize you have lost a repeat customer. Kindness, accuracy, and basic attentiveness are not optional. They're the business. No more messing up my orders when the place is nearly empty, no more overcharging me half of the time for the SAME order depending on who's working that day, no more being a repeat customer that seems to annoy the staff instead of being appreciated for repeat business. read more

I came to this location with 25 other people -- unannounced -- and they did a fabulous job of getting everything cooked and out to us, despite that two of their employees were on lunch breaks. Very impressive. Though you can have your burger pretty much any way you want it, they come stock with "special sauce" a' la In and Out Burger (and McDonald's, though most people tend to conveniently forget the fact that McDonald's set that bar way back when). It's a decent burger. Small (about the same size as a McDonald's cheeseburger). Nicely toasted bun. Good flavor, but nothing memorable. The fries, which are the 'fresh cut' variety, are exceptional. Nicely crisp. Not greasy at all. My main complaint with this joint is the homeless dude who homesteaded the men's restroom for half an hour, bathing himself and basically using the place as his personal spa. Not cool. People fall on hard times. Some businesses allow them to come in and wash up. Fine. When it interferes with the customers being able to wash their hands, it's overboard. Not only did he impede that, but he also started yelling at some of the youngsters in our party. I corrected him, but again, not cool. All the while, the employees acted as if this was normal, and that we should just let this guy do what he does. Nope. We chose to eat lunch (and pay for it) at P. Terry's -- not the Salvation Army. While the guy never asked for a thing (I'd have bought him a burger), his behavior and inconsiderate amount of time in the bathroom was unacceptable. And that is the responsibility of the manager on duty, who was derelict in his/her duty. Indeed, this is Austin, where things are 'weird' and people tend to have a love fest for those who are down on their luck (though not that much love, else they'd rent the guy a studio apartment), allowing someone to come into a business and act in such a way is not good. If you eat here, you'll have a decent meal. But wash your hands and go to the bathroom beforehand. Also, don't be surprised if you have unexpected company at your table. read more

When you think of P. Terry's you'd think of the acclaimed fast food chain that has made its way throughout Austin and other parts of Texas. However, this P. Terry's in particular is a deviation from the high standard one would hold for the franchise. Not only is there no microphone for the service worker calling order numbers so that customers can't hear their order, there was no ketchup in a burger place, and the orders were taking an hour+ to come out . Normally for reviews I would leave a picture of the food, but it's been over an hour and I never got the food. Edit: Not sure how to write a response to a review so I'll post my response to P. Terry's here. My friends and I placed an order on September 21 at 10:30pm and eventually got our order over an hour after 11:30pm. While I'm sure this is not the usual practice of P. Terry's, this was my experience and I have multiple friends who can corroborate it. On top of this, at this location and at that time the microphone was not working and we had to strain to hear our order. I'm usually a fan of P. YUM! Been in and around Austin a few times for work in the past and always saw these P Terry restaurants around... finally tried them on my last visit... DEFINITELY WORTH IT! Very "In-n-Out" vibes, so if you like them, you'll enjoy P terrys. Reasonably priced as well. 2 combos for under $20! Unheard of today, when places like Whataburger or Wendy's push you closer to $30. This location has consistently poor staffing and management during the evening and overnight hours (approximately 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM). Multiple visits have shown a clear lack of professionalism. Employees, including members of management, openly speak negatively about customers in Spanish, which is inappropriate and unprofessional in any customer-service environment. On Friday evenings, when customer volume is already low, service is still slow and disorganized. When the restaurant transitions from dinner to breakfast service, there is little to no communication with customers. Orders are delayed without explanation, and customers are left standing and waiting with no acknowledgment or updates. Similar complaints from other customers mention poor communication, rude or dismissive staff attitudes, long wait times, and inconsistent service quality, particularly during late hours. Austin's own burgers! Eat local! This burger chain has been serving the local Weird Austin community for decades and decades. The architecture of these stands are usually pretty amazing. This one is nothing spectacular. Others have daring designs with wild angles and unnecessary architectural flourishes that make the burger taste extra. This P Terry isn't the typical location- is located right next to University of Texas campus, in a line with Chick-Fil-A and Cane's Chicken. It's the only burger joint of the three, and the cheapest option of the three. I showed up here on a fall saturday night, and the line was out the door! Fortunately, this burger stand is used to the crowds, and was able to cook up burgers and fries quickly and efficiently! The burgers are small, but inexpensive. The fries are rather understated. Just potatoes and salt, like a rough cut fry. The restaurants are bustling with people, and yet they managed to keep the place clean. Nom! They have radical sunglasses that are always a hot prize. Clean and convenient P.Terrys that right by campus. The burgers are delicious and are extremely reasonably priced. The fries are some of the best fast food fried but you HAVE to eat them immediately. The nice thing about this location is that it is next to a chick fil an and a raising canes. So if you want a little bit from a few places it's easy to get. This is a good options for the late night munchies. They have homemade burgers and fresh cut shoestring fries. We opted for 2 number 2's which was standard cheeseburger , lettuce, tomato and special burger sauce. We also added the combo to have the fries. The burgers seemed par cooked from what we saw at 10:00 pm on a Saturday and were heated up and cheesed. Fountain drinks are serve yourself. Added on one chocolate shake. 16.72 all in. From reading reviews I had high expectations! Instead it was like my mom had fixed a burger back in the 70s. Not much flavor and an over abundance of lettuce. I had high hopes for the sauce but it was very thin and dripped off making it messy, and added very little flavor. The fries were delicious! Again, a lot like moms! Wow, just wow! It was my first time trying P Terry's a week ago and boy was I impressed. The service was fantastic and I now have a new favorite on MLK. I would recommend getting a triple cheeseburger with grilled onions as well as an order of fries (extra crispy.) It is not too heavy and fills you up right. The highlight of my meal was my encounter with the employee, Rene. Rene was very hospitable and gladly showed my friend and I to the walkthrough window where we can order on foot outside. I always appreciate great customer service when I see it and this place does it the right way! I will be back many times in the near future! It's a solid burger. Nothing fancy, but basic done right. Fries are hand cut and very good. The place is clean and well kept.

We love P. Terry's. The burgers are simple and classic. The ingredients are fresh and local. This means we can eat a burger and not feel like crap afterwards. The French fries are always hit or miss based on the cook, time of day, etc. they can be a bit softer, or rock hard, or anywhere in between. It's definitely their most inconsistent cook experience. The milkshakes are a treat every now and again and they're always perfect and classically simple. All in all, there's really nothing bad to say.
