I tried giving Popeyes one more chance. This was the last one! Y'all sold me this raggedy box of bullsh!t. First off, I know the biscuits are already hard and dry as heck. I rubbed the two together, jokingly calling the family to dinner and started a doggone fire in my kitchen. Look at my photos below. The chicken was so bad. My dog didn't even want to eat it. And she never turns down food! Your kitchen is a mess, your employees knew dang well what they sold me. They were laughing at me from the drive-thru and went to hide. I should have opened the box there, but my mistake for trusting in you Popeyes. I went inside to get my large fry. They forgot to put in my order and gave me a half-empty box of fries! By the way, the fries were the only thing we could eat. The fried pickles tasted and felt like I was chewing on my great granddaddy's old leather bootstrap! My kids and wife wanted Popeyes. I did not! I wish you could have seen the way they looked at me when they opened that box of chicken jerky! Disappointment and devastation. You would have thought it came from The Bone Temple Kitchen and Dr. Ian Kelson cooked it himself. I apologized while gnawing on a piece, gaslighting them into believing we could sit and enjoy this abomination for dinner. What if this had been my last time seeing my family? The trauma this chicken could have given them had I choked and died. Embarrassing just the thought if this were the last image of me in their memory forever. My son ate the fries and my daughter had the biscuit but drowned that thing in butter and honey so she could try to swallow it. I feared for her safety and life! She's so daring and obviously fear is not a factor for her. I had to watch them suffer all because your employees didn't want to make fresh food. Flavor is amazing! I went here to try as I read everything is fried in beef tallow! Taste is great! Downside- I went inside to order. No one is attending the counter. Counter and tables have not been wiped down in a while. Condiment area is filthy. Menu boards are not all working. Looks like there's only family meals of tenders and no chicken. It's like they only hire people that has no common sense. I went and ordered a 12pc BONELESS WINGS just to get home and their bone-in. Popeyes employees in Austin truly just do whatever the hell they want. This location specifically is ground zero for lazy refusal to make your food. Arrived at 12:35, a whole 25 minutes before closing. They "don't have" anything besides bone in chicken. What? Nearly a half hour until closing and you have *nothing* besides bone in chicken? No sandwiches, no tenders, and "no we can't make any more- we close at 1". Oh wow, cool! I wonder how their bosses feel about their refusal to do their jobs? This is a repeated occurrence. Pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it. The neighboring areas looked quite run down and the pavement around the place had more pot holes than a war zone, but the drive thru experience was quick and spot on. Had the two piece meal and the chicken was exactly what their engineers (I'm sure less cooks were involved at their CHQ than engineers) planned. Tasty and a bit of a Louisiana bite. The rice & beans were also good. Slaw wasn't my style but it was fresh. Biscuit was tiny. The CHQ has as many accountants figuring my meal dynamics as engineers. Sadly this was the closest location when my hankering for some chicken hit, but please avoid this location like the plague! We tried both the original and spicy and boy did this location live up to their negative reputation. Not only did the staff struggle with a large order, but they also delivered one of the worst tasting sandwiches I've had in awhile, definitely not worth the long wait. If you can imagine all the things that can go wrong while making a fried chicken sandwich then that would be exactly what our sandwiches tasted like. Each bite was greeted with a soggy/stale batter combined with a dried out piece of chicken and a chewy/overly toasted bun. The only "good" tasting thing about this sandwich was the miniscule amount of sauce and the pickles, which is surprising since I am normally not a fan of pickles. Go through drive through to be told they're completely out of all but mild dark meat and fries. Fine. Get to window and am told we will have to sit and wait on fries. It's now 9:34 and we are still sitting here waiting on fries... that I guess cook themselves, since staff folks are much too busy on their cell phones and hanging out in the lobby. The food did not taste fresh. The chicken tasted like it was sitting there for hours. Didn't have a crunch or crispy taste and the biscuits tasted dry and reheated. Cole slaw and macaroni same thing, although, the Diet Coke tasted good. At least we know they're keeping the lines clean and ratios of carbonation and syrups right. The service here is absolutely terrible. It took at least 30 minutes for my group to order, and it was not even that the line was long, it was just that no one was that the cash register to serve us. I am not sure if they were understaffed or the staff was just not functioning purposefully. Anyways after we ordered, the food took forever to come out. They can't really label this fast food when nothing about it is fast. The food was ok. I ordered fried chicken for the two piece Tuesday deal. The were out of the white meat that I ordered so I got dark meat instead, I did receive a lot of pieces though, way more than two, which was a nice surprise. I've tried a few times in the past 6 months to pickup food from the Popeye's on Airport Blvd. Tonight was my last attempt. They are only serving via the Drive Thru, and I've driven by several times when the line was long and kept driving. Tonight, I headed over to check the wait and it was the shortest line I've ever seen. There was only one car at the ordering kiosk so I pulled up directly behind them. 10 minutes later, the car in front of me still had not progressed. It was unclear to me whether they had even ordered yet. I bailed out of the line and pulled around the building to leave, and it was them I realized there were 4 cars lined up waiting for their food. If it takes 10+ minutes to prepare an order for each car, this Popeye's will be closed in the near future. read more

This is the closest Popeye's to UT Austin so I don't have much choice when it comes to which one I want to eat at. The location is pretty sketchy looking, as it is seemingly in the middle of nowhere, so that's nice I suppose. They randomly run out of sides, napkins, and the like which sucks. The only reason to come here is for Two-piece Tuesday, which is a really good deal ($1.19 for a wing and drumstick). If not for that offer, I wouldn't come here. Even for a fast food place, this was rough. I'm not huge on fast food. However, I do love me some spicy chicken from Popeye's. I don't have one anywhere near me so beyond rarely stop at one. Today I was starving and drove by one so decided to stop. I saw they have their chicken sandwich available right now and so decided to try it. Did the spicy with fries. Both were good, as expected. Thus 2 stars here instead of 1. I'm giving this location a low rating simply because of the standards in this restaurant. The place is filthy. Garbage on the floor in the kitchen. Dirty everything. The eating area also very dirty. Even the walls. The state of disrepair in the place is also astonishing for a chain. It desperately needs some work. Even one of the menu screens was broken or off. I ordered and after getting my drinks looked for straws. I stood back in line to wait my turn to ask for one. After taking the order for the guy in front of me, the lady at the register turns around and leans on the metal cooking thing behind her and starts talking to someone in the kitchen. Thinking she was just coordinating something, I patiently waited a couple minutes. And 2 or 3 minutes of her chatting, I finally called her (nicely, "ma'am"). She came over (not excited). I ask for a straw, I find out they are out of straws. While eating, theres two restaurant staff outside chatting and smoking. One comes inside and the other leans in (while still holding a cigarette in his hand) and blows smoke in the restaurant and proceeds to talk to customer who is walking toward the door. I get this isn't a great part of town. I get that it's a fast food restaurant. But come on! This place needs more than an overhaul. I don't understand how it is open! read more
