12/17/2020 is when I became a P Terry's customer for life! I love supporting locally owned businesses and here is one of the many reasons why... I was frazzled after a 9 hour road trip and couldn't find my credit card after placing my combo $8 order in the drive-through. By the time I got up to the window to pay, I shared my embarrassing inability to find my credit card. I had just $2 in my wallet and offered to bring back the rest tomorrow or to quite understandably forfeit my order altogether. The cashier was kind and patient with my scrounging for my card or some semblance of dignity. She even offered to type in my credit card information if I had it, goodness, that would be a wonderful thing to have. She ended up talking to the manager and offered me my food free of charge. This kindness was beyond what any customer should expect. P Terry's employees are incredible! Oh and the food - best fast food burger in town, ridiculously good and toasty fries with skins and the strawberry milkshake is divine. Coming from California, this is the closest thing to In-n-out and I had the #5 vegetarian burger with everything and added grilled onions - SO GOOD! Tasted just like in-n-out with their special sauce. Their fries are great warm and fresh but have a hard time making it the 15 min drive home. I also tried their lemonade and a shake and loved those too - I crave their lemonade and can't wait to get that again. You see P. Terry's all over town. There's a reason for that. They have excellent, inexpensive food! They have great burgers, but their chicken burgers are really amazing. They grind the white meat chicken on-site daily and you can taste the difference. Really tasty and fresh. Good fries too, always hot. I had been wanting to try their breakfast egg burger for the longest time. A few weeks ago I went in on the weekend and had a egg burger with sausage and cheese. It was a nice folded scramble egg, sausage patty, cheese on a soft burger bun. It was freshly cooked and quite tasty. I've been back 3 weekends in a row now for this $2.97 breakfast. 1st time here. Ordered a Cheeseburger combo with a Lemonade. Here's what I can tell you... To the people who claim this place is Texas' version of In-N-Out, you are sadly mistaken! Nothing about the food here says INO. The #1 issue I take with the food is the Fries. These things are little grease/oil strings. They're so skinny and tough. I only ate 3-fries. Two years have passed since my last review, and I was tiring of the extra distance to the place we usually buy burgers farther west on William Cannon, so I thought I'd give this P Terry's location yet another try. Despite the helter-skelter chaos of P Terry's parking lot, their location was just too damned convenient not to give a third chance. In fact, I gave them three consecutive chances at the drive-thru, all within the same week. The first two experiences were fine substitutes, the third, not so much. The first two burgers were great, but the third got a "never again" rating by its intended victim. Their fries are still absolute crap, of course, so, if you have to find a way to fill your gut, I recommend buying a double burger instead of putting up with their wretched fries. The shakes seem to have improved and remain one of their better draws. Why only three stars, you ask? If you're in the burger business, your fries need to rival your burgers. Minus one star for abject failure in that category--take a page from Mickey D's playbook here, will ya? A second star is lost for predictability and reliability. You can't be my "go to" place if your consistency has no quality control and is left to the luck of the draw of the cook du jour at the grill. But she wasn't having any of it and after much nagging and posturing, I reluctantly pulled into P Terrys. Ordered a couple of Double Cheeseburgers on whole wheat and large fries. On the way home, the noshing started with little bites of fries and once in the house the unveiling of the awesome greatest burgers ever took place. And.. yuck. What the hell is this? Soggy burgers and fries. What an insult the cow. I mean this rendition couldn't be any better than every friggin fast food burger in the world. Hence, why I don't eat at these establishments. But, ,what was the glorious sound I was hearing.. It was my dear wifey cooing and stuffing her pie hole with greasy average at best meat pieces and limp soggy fries. She was in heaven and once she finished her meal, she got all romantic on me. We love P. Terry's. The burgers are simple and classic. The ingredients are fresh and local. This means we can eat a burger and not feel like crap afterwards. The French fries are always hit or miss based on the cook, time of day, etc. they can be a bit softer, or rock hard, or anywhere in between. It's definitely their most inconsistent cook experience. The milkshakes are a treat every now and again and they're always perfect and classically simple. All in all, there's really nothing bad to say. I'll admit it - I think P. Terry's has better food than any other fast food burger joint in town. I always get the double cheeseburger and add bacon and grilled jalapeños. Also, the fried chicken sandwich isn't bad (not gloriously amazing but quite good). In hot Texas summers (and falls and springs and sometimes even winters) I love iced tea and P. Terry's iced tea is made just the way I like it - and I'm super picky about iced tea. It's slightly strong but not overly so and they add lemons which make a nice touch. The only drawback is that I'm not a fan of the fries, but I'm not a "fry guy" in general so you might end up liking them - they're just not for me. read more

I love this place!!!! I always come here when I visit. You have to get their food. Trust me its delish if you add some Jalapeño and onions. Well, if you like that. Typically doing drive-thru on a tight schedule as "Mom's taxi" hasn't warranted time or thought to review... until today (so, sorry no pics: playing the same role again!). Here yesterday for 1 kid, today for the other: #3 Combo (different "stuff" on burgers, fries for both, different drinks). - Drive-thru line: much appreciate when they have 2 lines open (today & yesterday: only 1 line): 11-13 minutes being the 4th car from the order station to receipt & driving away. Happy that we saw cars bail when they saw the 2nd line wasn't open. - Burgers are ALWAYS appreciated in any form. Never any complaints from us. - Drinks: the same. - Fries. P.Terry's has been my family's standard to which we compare all others. Yesterday's fries were as expected. Today's left a terrible aftertaste. It's as though the oil was yesterday's (24-hrs of "x" # of batches since): yeah, noticeably not as good to us. However, I must admit a significant influence for my family to become "sensitive" to this/any difference: Mother's day this year, I got a mandolin that slices potatoes for fries of the same size AND an air fryer. Our homemade fries are WAY better, any way you slice it (punny, har har - but seriously true). Though yesterday's fries from P.Terry's were good/as expected (but still not as good as homemade), today's were "terrible" by comparison. As my kids understand that we don't always have the time to do homemade, it is interesting that now we ALL can tell the difference of what we suspect is oil freshness. Bottom line for us: burgers, yes. Fries: biasedly may skip. Drinks: yay. Drive-thru line without the 2nd line is bearable; much better with 2. Giving 4 stars: consistent history of appreciated good burgers and service. Can't rightfully give only 3 because of our personal bias (not the norm to make your own fries). Can't give 5 because a) inconsistent drive-thru lanes, and b) fry-oil difference was absolutely detectable as regular customers. Hope this helps! read more

This is my favorite P. Terry's. When I am in the area, desire a burger, I choose them over all other fast food burger places. Everything is fresh, you can stand there watching it being made (hey, I used to cook on a line so I like to watch when I can), the employees are friendly, it is usually very clean and calm. It takes a little while longer to make up a burger from beginning to end, but it is worthwhile. Thus the drive-thru can start to fill up fast and moves a bit slow. That is why I just park and walk in on most occasions. The parking lot can be crazy as people are speeding through from all directions and other shopping areas. I do not suggest parking where the drive-thru is located during lunch. Park in the front, stop in and relax. I also like that the employees are paid a living wage. It certainly shows in their demeanor and quality of product. read more

Never go through the drive thru at this location. Order online as they have a dedicated pick counter for such orders. Only sucks when there is a line for online orders when pick up because the cashiers in the adjacent lines that are literally right next to the online order pick up line will never assist even if there is no one placing an order for instore. To me this latter gripe shows how the lack of team work fails the drive thru every time. Last tip for those online orders, don't park in the "interior" parking spots as you will be blocked in by the oh so slow drive thru. Anddd don't be fooled by the lunch double drive thru lines - they are just as slow even when limited cars are already in line. They have many of these in Austin and I can see why! What I love about a good restaurant is that they label what ingredients and grade they use. 100% all natural, no antibiotics juicy meat! They have all different kinds such as their homemade recipe veggie burger, chicken, and beef of course. I tried the double cheeseburger with the fries and it was great!
