I used to go here a lot and have my car serviced here. After the mechanics I used to see here Aero and I think Mike? ...I think was his name , left, I no longer go here. It's just really hard to find an honest mechanic ever. When I would bring my car, either of these guys mentioned above would come over, say hello.-to my car, and ask me what I was there for. I would say what I wanted, and then they would tell me a ball park price (fair prices) and I would later return for my car. I went not too long ago and with a different newer car, to a different guy (the guys mentioned before don't work there anymore.) :( Other than that, the place is nice, and friendly. The guys that I've been to in the last few years didn't make me feel 100% comfortable. So I'm not saying I'm never going to go back, but i'm not going to go out of my way to go here either. They got it flipped in a timely manner, they were rather busy, I guess people are hitting pot holes here and there due to the shitty weather. They don't need your business, they have plenty. Called for an inspection, they said bring it tomorrow when we open. Dropped off car at 7:30am walked home and they called 5:15pm, your car will not be ready until tomorrow, no explanation or apology. I picked up my car at 5:30pm, fifteen minutes after the call and again: "bring it back tomorrow we will have it ready." No regards for my time and no explanation to why they held my car from 7:30am - 5:15pm and couldn't perform a 20 min inspection. Horrible horrible horrible! !! I came in from a retired mechanic. They sent all their customers to Pace Tire. Big mistake. The absolute worst place. I wish I could give them negative stars. 2 BIG THUMBS DOWN! !!! I had to diagnose my own problems while they changed out good parts. I came in with an oxygen sensor check engine light. Mat said to change out oxygen sensors that were already replaced by my old mechanic. 4 sensors later same issue. I googled the issue and joined a forum for my 1999 Tahoe and they suggested changing out the 2 catalytic converters. I bought them and they changed them out. No more check engine light! They did more bad work and refused to refund my money. Instead I got letter in the mail saying that they are not responsible. Be warned!!! Don't flush your hard earned money down the toilet! !! Stay away and tell your friends and family to stay away!!!! read more

This review is specifically for Jose! I've unfortunately had to come here twice in the past few months, but was lucky enough to interact with Jose both times. The first was my first time dealing with my tires since moving to the city, and he was so kind in helping me pick out the correct ones for my budget, as well as checking all my tires to make sure I wouldn't need to replace all of them if not necessary. He also helped me find my tire lock (usually located in your spare if you have one!) when I wasn't quite sure what that was or where it was, without making me feel dumb. Overall it was such a great experience that when I got a flat, I went there right away without looking for somewhere else. The second time he was just as nice, and helped make sure they could patch it before suggesting the possibility of having to replace the tire completely. The only thing you should really be aware of is that it is first come, first serve appointments, so the wait can be anywhere from 1-2 hours sometimes. However, there is a cemetery near by that is nice to walk in to kill time. Thank you for helping me with my car, Jose!! :*) read more

Firstly, this is the first time i have ever written a review, purely because of the terrible service i received. It may be a long one but its one you should be aware of. I ordered tires from Tire Rack for a total of $1,550 and had them shipped to Pace based off reviews on this site. The day the tires were delivered I called Pace and they confirmed the tires arrived. Based on this, I called on Thursday 11/29/18 to set up an appointed with a time that worked for Pace. I was told to come in at 7am Friday (the next day) 11/30 and i would be seen straight away. Instead of going to work, I went to Pace and I arrived at the shop at 6:55am. Nobody showed up until 7.25am at which point i was told by Emil the guy who changes the tires wouldn't be in until 8.30 and i would have to leave my car there. This wasn't planned or explained to me on the phone the previous day which is exactly why i called to make an appointed. I was told it would take 2 hours to changed my tires and they would call me when the car was ready. This was pretty annoying given i was told i would be seen to at 7am. Based on this, I then ordered an Uber and spent 40 min getting to my job in Brooklyn. 11:30 AM came around and i had still not received a call to let me know when the car would be ready so i decided to call. I spoke with Emil and he gave crazy attitude on the phone saying they were busy and it would be the evening time when its ready and hung up. I was a little shocked by this response but left it go without getting too frustrated. 2pm came around and there was still no call, so i decided to call again and explained to the shop that i needed my car in the evening, keeping in mind i was told to come at 7am and would be seen at 7am. They then told me the car would be ready for 3pm. Given that i left work early, ordered an Uber and headed back to Pace. As the Uber was 5 min from the Garage Emil then called me again to say the tires were lost, the car was on the lift but they couldn't find the tires. My uber pulled up, car was still in the parking lot (not on the lift as stated) with nothing done to it. I walked into the garage explained that this was crazy service. I really couldn't believe it but i waited another 45 min for them to look for the tires before asking for my keys and leaving. They didn't bother looking for the tires and really just filled me with crap and wasted my time the entire day. They stressed that losing the tires was tire racks fault, they didn't deliver bla bla bla even though they confirmed delivery on the phone to me. This really pi**ed me off, from calling making the appointment to be left with this. The following Tuesday i called tire rack to let them know my tires for $1,550 had been ''lost'' by Pace. They kept me on hold for 20 minutes, and then came back to tell me they called Pace and they actually had the tires the entire time... I really couldn't believe what kind of morons i was dealing with when i heard this. I told tire rack there was no way i was going back there due to the horrific service. I have no issue with problems arising, these things happen, but to be bullshitted all day is another thing and these guys brought '' NOT GIVING A SHIT''' to a new level. I would highly recommend using another garage, these guys do not care about customers, will waste your time and money without consideration. read more

I went to Pace Tire to mount & balance new tires for my car. After getting the new tires setup, I drove away. After getting on the highway, I noticed a shimmy at highway speed (over 60). The vibration was so strong I could not put off the repair and turned around and went right back to Pace. Instead of trying to find the problem, the mechanics & manager there did everything they could to get me out the door - they came up with a myriad of excuses as to why my car now feels like a tractor at highway speed. None of their reasons made sense to me - but when I asked them to re-do the work, they told me to go get a 2nd opinion - their way of getting rid of me. I ended up going to another tire shop, which told me that the new wheels just balanced by Pace were horribly unbalanced. They balanced the wheels for me and I drove away - the shimmy was gone. Don't give these scumbags your hard earned money - try to find a shop that will work with you. After all, tires are one of the key parts of an automobile that keep you and your family safe. You want to trust the people working on them for you. read more

I went here for a simple oil change. The next day I found a small puddle of oil under my car. I brought it back and they repaired it. But here is where the problems start. I brought my car to the dealer for routine maintenance. It was then brought to my attention that the oil pan had an oversize plug installed, thereby voiding the warranty on the pan. Oh yeah, the plug was still leaking oil. So I had the dealer install a new pan at a cost of $396. I called Pace and told them what had happened. They told me to bring in the oil pan. I brought it and to make a long story short, they admitted fault and refunded me the money it cost for the new oil pan. I'll give them kudos for admitting they were wrong & refunding my money, but 2 thumbs down for damaging the oil pan and not telling me they put an oversize plug because they stripped the threads in the pan. I will not be using this establishment again. read more

Went here to get a nail taken out of my tire. Other places I've had this done never costs me more then $10. I waited quite a long time to get this taken care of here today and it cost me $32! The place and workers here are very nice but that bill for a plug in my tire was astronomical! The more I think about this I feel incredibly ripped off. I always had trouble finding honest friendly reliable mechanics. I heard of this place Pace tires from a friend and gave it a shot. On my first visit I need a 4 wheel alignment and the front desk workers were friendly and very helpful with what needs to be done. I went again for tire replacements and again I like how the employees at this shop are make you feel comfortable and not shady with the work and prices . I will still have to visit more for a solid 5 star rate but I will definitely be coming going back for auto repairments! read more

Was in today for a state inspection. I have a 97 accord with 172000 miles on it. It had the maintenance light on and I did not know if it would pass. Instead of hocking it up and charging me they brought out a hand scanner just to make sure it would pass before even writing a ticket. Great group of guys and felt no pressure at all. This place was a life saver! I live in Michigan and got a flat tire driving out to NY. I happened to stumble onto this place by googling " tire repair open on Sunday" near my hotel. I have been going there for years for my car inspections and I know my car is in good hands when I bring it there. Something was loose under my car and I brought it there on a Sunday and it wasn't a big deal. They noticed that my tires were not in good shape and my brake pads (and other brake parts weren't in good shape either. I've been noticing that when I brake, it didn't feel right). There are new owners and they are great! They showed me and explained what was wrong and what had to be done in simple, not patronizing language, which I appreciated. Awful service. Overpriced. We had a flat and decided to go local, rather than go to our dealer. They were happy to take our money and our order. They said they had to order the tire and it would be at the shop in a day or 2. Five days later we called and they had no record of ever ordering the tire. They had to then order the tire and we had no car for a holiday weekend. We had a donut on our car for over a week !! This is NYC ... seriously ?!
