I finally got a chance to try Fish Shop after driving by it for a while and always seeing a big crowd. We went on a Friday night, and thankfully it wasn't too crazy busy. We ordered the poke bowl, and the ahi tuna was some of the freshest we've had! The fish and chips came with 4 big pieces of fish, but unfortunately 2 of the 4 pieces were not good. The fish was hard and chewy. We were in a bit of a rush and didn't get a chance to let the kitchen know, which was a bummer. Plenty of outside seating.

Friendly service. Indoor/outdoor seating vibes when inside. Plenty of outdoor patio seating also. Fresh fish and lots of options of fish! I got the fish plate, chose snapper, garlic butter sauce, and for two sides I got rice and seaweed salad. I didn't notice they had mixed green veggies or I would've gotten that, but the seaweed salad was good too. The fish was super fresh and delicious, but I wish the garlic butter had more garlic flavor. The fish also didn't seem seasoned much beyond the sauce so some bites were on the plain side. My only complaint about the place is that when eating indoors, I constantly had to swat flies away from my food. It was so often, that it ruined my lunch. One downside of that indoor/outdoor feeling. All of the windows and doors were open, so I'm not surprised. Would come back to try other fish options and seasoning/sauce.

I came here with a friend on a Thursday during the oyster happy hour and was SOOOO blown away. $1.25 oysters that were so yummy!! The line does get long so come at 4pm if you can. The vibes are great and there are plenty of tables inside and outside we sat on the outside patio and the food is brought to by a buzzer. It comes out fairly quickly. As for the food: My favorite oyster type was the Mintersweet. It was sweet and not too briny. I love to add the horseradish vinegar and a little bit of Tabasco. The other star of the show was the shrimp and chips. They were so crispy and the shrimp was a great size. The fries are really good as well. The TKO taco was bright from the mango salsa, and the fish was juicy. I WILL return here!!

Came because the reviews drew me in. Loved all the space available to eat and I love that you could bring your dog in if you wanted to eat with you. Loved the extensive menu and the various options. Didn't like that the shrimp boil wasn't available on the day I went. Loved that they have an easy to find bathroom, but didn't like that it was right where you ordered. The service was nice and quick. Luckily the crowd came after us so we didn't have to wait too long for our food. The food was ok. The scallops plate was great. My husband really enjoyed that. Not sure what the hype is about the fish shop shrimp. It was just some shrimp with seasoning. Wish I had gotten some rice to go with it. It was kind of boring on its own. My son thought the clam chowder was just OK and nothing to write home about. I agreed. It was missing something. We added some Cholula and it helped. The lobster taco was filling. We enjoyed the Dorado loaded fries. It's a bit pricey for what it was but it was dinner and it fulfilled its purpose.

Been here a dozen times but this is my first review. Their taco quality has declined a bit. It's loaded with slaw over protein. The flavor is still there. I think I like the garlic-lemon marinade. I usually go swordfish? The other day I changed the game. I went with a scallop sandwich on sourdough with avocado. Grade A quality. When you can fry a scallop but maintain its "moist" nature you win. The only downside is that there wasn't enough tartar sauce and I paid a couple more bucks for 2 slices of small avocado though. We always always get the fish shop shrimp here and it always meets and exceeds expectations. It's salty, its slighly spicy, the shrimp are of large size, and that dipping sauce is muah, delicious. Plenty of seating, limited parking, but family friendly. We've taken our kids here a couple times and they like it. PB family spot.

Been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got the chance to stop by! I ordered half a dozen of oysters, ahi tuna sandwhich on white bread & add avocado, and my bf got the red snapper plate w/ white rice and veggies. Everything tasted great and fresh but my favorite was definitely the oyster!! They also have oyster night on Thursdays for $1.25. Lots of seating and they have their own little parking lot (gets filled quick). Definitely will be back again!

Super laid back chill spot.Eagles are playing right now and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and their food. There is limited parking in back of restaurant and street parking available in front. Covered patio dining area in front of restaurant and another good sized patio area with umbrellas in back. We ordered at the counter. I ordered a blackened halibut taco with avocado and sides were broccoli, cauliflower and carrots and side salad (mixed greens) with citrus vinaigrette. Hubs ordered seafood lumpia (4 pcs) with small amount of brown rice underneath. The counter server was pleasant and helpful with choosing of sides. Our food was out in minutes and it was all very good. I will add that for the price ($40) it's not a lot of food but it was quality food! And no we didn't take any pictures of our food because we were too hungry, lol.

Thursday 4:00 pm oyster night! It's one of the best kept secrets. $1.25 per oyster, served with cocktail sauce, horseradish, and a shallot vinaigrette! If you have not tried it, you are missing out! Pro tip: get here early!! They sell out quickly.

Ordered online for lunch shrimps and fries and coleslaw menu is a little confusing but it was alright but you do not get any condiments you have to ask for everything

Fish tacos-2 halibut (one grilled one fried), one salmon and one shrimp) all were amazing

We happened upon this space and aside from very limited parking lot (lots of street parking available) this was a great spot!! There are so many spots to sit, inside, outside, lots of umbrellas and awnings for the outside seats. The benches inside are comfy too. We ordered from counter, they give you a number and then they bring the food to you. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I asked lots of questions and the lady taking our order was happy to answer them and make suggestions. Which I appreciated for our first time here. Picking the tacos may seem overwhelming, but just pick combos with your heart! Haha. My favorite was the salmon with teriyaki glaze. I Also did shrimp with garlic rub (i think) both on corn tortillas. The toppings that come with them and added avocado (extra $1.50) made them all so yummy. This place is a must try if you are in the area, for sure. Beers were good too! Restroom was very clean and well stocked.

Found this gem on Tik tok!! I am so glad I picked this spot for fish tacos! Starters: A dozen oysters - it was soooo good and fresh. Clam Chowder - 4/5, I wish it was a bit hotter temperature wise. I got two tacos ~ Spicy dorado taco: I liked the combination in this one! The fish was really fresh. 4/5 Elote taco: The workers recommended this one so I was super excited to try it as I like elote. I didn't like the toppings on this one.. so I ended up just eating the fish and picking at the toppings. 3/5. I can't wait to come back here for my next trip to SD.

They have the freshest fish and oysters for $1.25 each every Thursday! I Highly recommend.

Walked over for a catchup with a friend. Always seen this spot but finally decided to try it out. Menu is extensive and lots of variations you can try. We opted to eat light so just had a taco each and grabbed a bottle of wine to share. The outdoor seating was refreshing to kick off the summer. Dog friendly and I believe they even have their own small parking lot available.

The line on a Monday afternoon.

How are the crab cakes? I find that crab cakes are either amazing or really bad.

Crab cake was good and seasoned.

I have some allergies to spices. When ordering can I hold the spices? Is the fish made to order or is it made up in advance like prefix? I am allergic to cilantro, onion, garlic, and old bay seasoning.

The fish is cut to order so you can ask for it not to be seasoned but I don't think they could guarantee the knife, cutting board or cooking surface would be completely free of all spices.

The plain quesadillas are simple but something about it was taste soo good, might be the cheese that they use and their handmade tortilla. If you want carne asada, you have to line up and then you have to line up at another line if you want another type of meat. Some lines are longer than others so I feel like my food gets cold by the time I get my second order and then I have to line up to pay. The huge pile of shredded beef tasted okay, but the red gravy got all of the chips that it came into contact with really soggy and unpleasant to eat. Maybe it would have been better if I had eaten it in the restaurant, but it should not have degraded that quickly. And to claim to be Nachos? Why? What was Nacho about this messy, uninteresting dish? The only suggestion of cheese that I got was one stray pipe of yellow processed cheese that could have been mustard for all that I know. There were NO Jalapenos whatsoever. The guacamole was just one spoonful plopped down in the middle of the order. There was really nothing red hot about the food at all. So the sour cream just made it taste incredibly bland. My advice? It's no secret that San Diego has tacos in…read morespades and being so close to the border, you'd think that a quest to find the perfect taco would be as simple as rolling down to the nearest taqueria. Except, it's not quite that simple. Many beloved staples have gone downhill, while some newer spots that might boast things like a Michelin mention or multiple locations ranging from TJ to Vegas contain more hype and gristle than tender meat and substance. Enter Chula Tacos. Chula is, and always was, the type of place that makes you forget that you're not actually in Tijuana. While part of me misses their OG Market Street location, seeing them with brick-and-mortars feels hard-earned and well-deserved. This location on Palm in IB is relatively easy to access from the freeway, but parking can be tricky. You can safely assume that it will be busy and you will either have to be very lucky or be willing to find a spot on the street. Out of all the times I've been here, it's always been crowded enough that I've never been able to find a table inside, but I enjoy sitting out on the patio next to the ahumederos. The first thing that hits you walking through the door is how amazing everything smells. The queue to the cashier takes you near a window showing the kitchen where you can see the Chula Tacos team making fresh tortillas, slicing meat from the trompos, grilling up jalapenos, nopales, onions, labio, and tripa. For me, it's not so much a challenge to decide what I want, it's more a challenge to keep myself from ordering everything. My usual is four tacos: two asada, two al pastor (but I've heard that I should also try their world famous keka). The tacos though? Perfection. Every time, the asada is the juiciest and most tender I've ever eaten, the al pastor is succulent and flavorful, and no taco in front of me is long for the world. At $3.50 each, every one of them is absolutely loaded. Three would honestly fill me up, but I always want four. After getting burned by spots that ask around 75% more and deliver anywhere between 25-50% less, Chula Tacos feels like an absolute godsend of a Tijuana-style taqueria and I can't see any other contenders being my go-to. So, when I say "Tacos will fix me," what I mean nowadays is "Chula Tacos will fix me."

They also had some really great vegetarian options. The tostadas, veggie tacos, and flautas were all awesome and full of flavor. The margaritas were reasonably strong, which was nice. And definitely save room for the churros -- they were so good! The only thing that wasn't quite our preference was the queso fundido. It was a little more solid than we like; we prefer ours to be extra melty and gooey. Otherwise, everything was fantastic. Great food, drinks, service, and vibes!

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)
