I usually don't write reviews, but I felt I had to after my visit to the hospital last night with my dog. I was incredibly moved by the care we received. It started at home with an initial phone call. Renee picked up the phone to find me crying and asking all kinds of questions. She was calm, warm, and extremely knowledgeable. She truly listened when I asked to honor my budget and provided me with plenty of options. Most importantly, she made me feel safe when I was feeling so scared. When we arrived, we met with Dr. Abbey Dial. I cannot express enough how much I appreciated the care we received from her. She was honest about my dog's condition, cognizant of my budget, and created the perfect plan for my family. As she spoke, I could feel her genuine love for animals and her passion for helping others. I have never felt this level of support from any vet I've ever visited. Both Renee and Abbey gave me the strength I needed to be there for my dog. I highly recommend this animal hospital to anyone who views their pet as a member of their family. read more

Pacific CARE has truly amazing people who care deeply about the animals and the needs of their owners. My cat went through extensive diagnostic testing elsewhere to get a terminal diagnosis. While most other places insisted on running their own repeat tests, the team here listened to what I actually needed: pure comfort and support care for the rest of her time before heaven. The staff was incredibly kind, supportive, and gave me all the information I needed to confirm my decisions and plan ahead. Incredibly compassionate staff. We went on a Saturday to see an internal medicine doctor, who realized we needed to meet with an oncologist. We waited and were able to meet with the oncologist, who doesn't normally come in on weekends but made an exception for us and other patients. We were given very clear next steps. Their communication was very clear, and they were very empathetic to our situation. They have been very transparent about pricing, and have fantastic follow up. We traveled over an hour to get immediate attention for our kitty and it was worth it. I wish they were closer, so they could be our regular vet. We are still deciding on next steps, but I wanted to ensure that it was clear that the people here at this facility DO care. It's not another 'just here to take your money using the love of your pet as hostage' situation that many of us know all too well. Office was clean, easily accessible, and had lots of parking. I brought my cat here in 02/01/2022 and they would not help me understand a diagnosis over the phone. Once I came in they quoted me 6- $9,500. This place just wants your money, and they will not be honest with a diagnosis or with a possible success rate. They play on your emotions and hope you will move forward to try to save your pets life. I should have listens to my regular vet when they said there was no way to save my cats life. Looking online and google the disease I found that there was a less then 5% chance he would have recovered. read more

I truly can't say enough good things about Pacific Care. I first found them during COVID, and ever since, I will drive all the way from Arcadia to Irvine anytime I have a furbaby emergency. When I called to let them know we were on our way, even though it had been 18 months since our last visit, I was greeted by a familiar voice and that alone was incredibly comforting. When your furbaby is sick, the stress is overwhelming, but this team somehow manages to combine excellent diagnostics with genuine compassion. They even brought the cushiest bed in the hospital to my little mini dachshund. Bre, the vet tech, was so loving and gentle with her, and Dr. Dial was thorough, pragmatic, and clear in explaining the diagnosis and next steps. The entire experience from check-in to discharge was efficient, thoughtful, and personalized. Emergency vets are never inexpensive, but Pacific Care is transparent about costs and absolutely worth every penny. We recently lost our beloved four year-old dog very unexpectedly of heart failure. As you can imagine, it was horrible for us, but I wanted to update our prior review because Pacific Care has continued to be exceptional even through one of the worst experiences of my life. They went above and beyond to save our boy, Zorro, and make sure we had everything we needed during a very difficult time. Ultimately, there was nothing more that we or they could have done but I feel at peace knowing we did absolutely everything in our power to save our boy. We felt really supported during some very tough, fast-moving decisions. Although I did not go in to the store, I spoke with someone over the phone and they were so helpful! My dog ate some chocolate left out on the table while we were away. We called the animal poison control and they wanted $85 JUST TO TALK TO US!!!! We called this place and the nurse passed our info over to a doctor which gave us great instructions for watching over our pup. He's doing great and didn't need to spend any money. I had brought my dog to this urgent care hospital with what appeared to be a severe infection. My dog was clearly very sick and in distress. Instead of immediate treatment, payment was discussed and required before care was started. As a pet owner in an emergency situation, that was incredibly upsetting. When your pet is suffering, you expect urgent medical attention first like a human seeking medical attention. Tragically, my dog passed away just a few hours later. I understand that not every outcome can be controlled, but the experience left me heartbroken and questioning whether more immediate care could have been provided. I took my dog here for care and I am undecided if I would return in the future unless it was an emergency. The vet gave run around answers until I finally called her out on it and started to get some straight up answers. The vet held onto every little word I said, which sounds like it would be good, but she would take it out of context. They recommended treatments that felt excessive given my pets reason for visiting. They kept my dog in the back in a crate until I had paid and was leaving. I requested multiple times my dog be returned to me and again was getting run around answers to that request. I'm glad they were able to help my dog feel better, but the human experience was less than good. read more

I brought my kitty in last night, after we thought he may have ingested a balloon ribbon. I called another place first which suggested that inducing vomiting usually does not work in cats. They made it sound like there isn't much they can do, until it destroyed his intestines. Called here after, they said it's 50/50, and they could definitely try. We brought him in less than 15 minutes later, and they got him to throw up about a foot and a half of ribbon he ate. I was only charged $360 for an emergency 2+ hour long visit. Dr. Abbey Dial was amazing. I don't know the names of the front desk staff on duty, but they were also very kind and helpful. They just called to check in and see how he's doing. read more

Dr. Chung and her staff do not follow up as they as they say they will. And when you reach out for the scheduled follow up call, they NEVER return phone calls, so if you want to get in touch with them about your pets care, you have to keep calling day after day. Then maybe you'll be able to talk to her assistant who can't remember anything, apparently doesn't take good notes, and also doesn't return calls. We miss Dr. Duesburg. She was amazing..... *Edit* Tried to call to at least cover ALL the issues with management at the number they gave below. After sitting on hold for 5 minutes, I gave up. Everyone at this facility was extremely compassionate and kind. We have been here twice and on both occasions we were very impressed with the vet and all of the vet technicians. On the second occasion, our dog was so ill that we had to euthanize her. They were extremely compassionate and understanding and they helped us get through this very difficult time. If you're into overpriced pet care with a side of "weird," this is your place. I rolled in on a Friday night with my cat in bad shape, and after a quick chat, they hit me with a $5k estimate. Yep, five grand to feed my cat some IV fluids and do an ultrasound. Meanwhile, they left me chilling in the lobby like we were waiting for a table at Olive Garden. Took my cat somewhere else, and guess what? A couple of meds, and she's good as new. Pacific Care? I lost my 16 month old baby boy here which is unexpected, it's been 5 month now and I am still in tears when I just think about I made the worst decision by took Latte over there, I had no questioned to paid you $2000 for just 5 hours, you simply call me my dog is dead without any emotion and he is only 16 month old! From the text result, you could not figure out what exactly going on with his coughing , you told me everything just happen so quick after I paid you in 5 hours, which I thought my boy would be safe to have your professional care by paying you $2000/ night, I was wrong... 5 hours later you called without any emotion, he is dead! Do you understand he is my baby boy, that is why I'm paying you $2000 to start and willing to pay whatever to have him been take care of properly, I was wrong, I should just give you the money you wanted and save my boy's life by take him away. Im writing this review to warn people, please avoid this place at all costs. They take advantage of pet owners who are in desperate situations and I regret coming here not just for how much money they took from me, but mainly for how they handled my cat. I took my cat here a few months ago for GI-related issues/lethargy and it was an awful experience: I paid almost $7,000 for lab work, one overnight stay, tests, etc. just for them to give me ZERO diagnosis/answers for my cat. The vet literally only spoke to me once when i initially met her, they never called me once (even though they said they would on multiple occasions) I would always have to call them to follow up. I understand its an ER setting so it can be busy but when they say they will call me to follow up, I expect a call which never happened and left me waiting for answers. When they handed me the estimate/everything that I was being charged for, they never explained what I was being billed for (vets/techs should always offer or explain the purpose of treatment/lab works and ask if you are able/willing to pay for this). I spoke to two different people over the phone who both individually said she was ready for d/c that early evening, around 5PM and that they would call me when my cat was ready to be picked up. 7PM and no call yet so i show up, the tech at the door told me they didnt know she was going home that night?? And they tried to charge me for overnight stay that night which is insane. It took them a week after I picked her up to update me on her results. If I am paying $7k in an ER setting I expect results within 1-2 days, not over a week. Also, my cat is still having problems. If the vet discussed with me the possibilities of whats been happening to my cat and how to prevent it, I would feel better about the situation but it was so poorly handled, there was no communication between us or even amongst themselves, and my cat has not gotten better. I know some other people who had their pets go here for literally emergency surgery and they did not have to pay as much as me which is crazy. I also know a vet tech whos been a tech for 15 years and she agreed I was overcharged. Please avoid this place and take your business elsewhere. I wish I would have read some reviews before I rushed down here. Fortunately I read some before spending too much money here and just left paying the 175$ intake fee. I came in after my dog got hurt or overheated on a long run on a hot day. I was worried about heat stroke. They suggested keeping him for 24 hours, running many many tests, checking for everything they could think of and more. They didn't focus much on helping to make a financially reasonable decision, like perhaps just treating him for potential heat stroke. giving the dog an IV with some fluids would have made sense to me, or maybe a bowl of water. Instead I was asked to wait a very long time while they checked on how much these suggestions might cost. Typical vet business these days, lots of waiting room time and warnings that you'll likely end up killing your animal if you don't listen to them. Instilling lots of fear in you so you pony up for a huge bill before you really have much time to consider a reasonable path forward. Initial vitals all came back normal, but they still were "very concerned". I left in a hurry and kept an eye on my dog at home. He's fine of course. We were referred here for specialty care when my 15-year old pup started having liver and heart problems. It's always tough watching a pet age but we knew she was in good hands. The doctors here always took the time to explain results and discuss treatment options. She is no longer with us, but we had to bring our new puppy here late one night a few weeks ago. We haven't had a puppy in a LONG time and this was our first emergency visit with the new dog. We panicked and brought her in prematurely (Google and Internet doctors can make things sound scary) because she ended up being completely fine. However, the doctor and vet tech/assistant on duty took us seriously and took the time to check our dog's vitals and make sure she was fine before sending us home. They were very patient and kind as they explained the treatment options. I appreciate that they listened and were not immediately dismissive. Even though nothing ended up being wrong, they wanted to make sure we felt heard and offered to do more testing and keep an eye on her if we were still worried. Of course, no one wants to go to the energy vet. Our dogs are our babies and we want to know they are in good hands in these emergency situations. This last Xmas eve, we had to put down our 13 year old maltipoo. We believe she suffered a stroke... couldn't watch her suffer anymore so found this emergency pet hospital late evening and we were able to get her in right away. We called many other places but the ppl who picked up were either not compassionate and rude and/or they were booked. 3 stars for the workers here at the front desk for not being so friendly BUT 100 stars for Dr Lei. (I think that's how you spell it). She came in with a soft heart and went through the different options we had to help Molly. She was very understanding and non judge mental and def not pushy. When a family is so broken over a decision like this, it really helps to have a compassionate professional who really cares for the welfare of the pet and people. She performed the euthanasia so gently and having my three teens with me, she made it a smooth transition for them and for molly. Thank you Dr. Lei for your kindness during this tender moment esp on Xmas eve. Not something we expected or wanted to do but I'm very pleased with her professionalism. Also, is like to add that this facility looks brand new. Very clean and beautiful. It's kind of in an industrial area off jamboree but there was also a big apartment complex across the way. read more

They keep saying they're going to get the doctor, this went on for three or four more trips to the front desk anyway we left, never seeing the doctor until we were in the parking she wanted to tell us why she was so delayed. We told her we were not very happy we were going to let our veterinarian. take over supervising his medication. our Bill was over $500.00 for that day, I could see that there was no teamwork between the doctor and the desk. read more

My bfs dog had symptoms of a stomach flip so we called and hurried him to an emergency care. While driving here, our dog threw up all over my car seat and they really didn't have to but they cleaned my car seat for me while checking the vomit to see if there was anything odd in there. I brought my already deceased cat recently..as in, she passed away on my way to this facility but I was desperate to save her ofcourse and believed there was hope in the moment that they would / could resuscitate her so as soon as I walked in, they grabbed her and took her to the back to work on her. She was gone, it was what it was. But as others have mentioned here, this is a business just interested in conducting business as usual...no need for actual compassion on their end because they still charged over a thousand dollars as if they actually saved her life. The vet doctor couldn't explain in any type of way what she thinks may have happened to my cat..which is strange..like zero knowledge of any sort to share, she just did her "job" and that was that. My disappointment doesn't revolve around the inability to save my cat's life, because that was out of their control but what they choose to charge for an inevitable heart wrenching event is pretty despicable. Last night my dog Bandit ate a tampon so we called Pacific CARE and they instructed us to come in right away, we took him in and waited as they induced vomiting. As nerve racking as this was, they came back and were able to get it out. Shoutout to Renee and all the friendly staff who took care of our baby and I truly felt like everyone genuinely cared, the vet was so sweet and explained to us how crucial it was to get him in as he would not of been able to pass it. The service and care we received was top notch and I will recommend this place and come back in the future for any emergency needs. I'd have to agree with few comments here that they're really after your wallet than anything else. Reminds me of scenario where you walk in to a used car dealer because you need a car for work but they'll charge you absurd amount and get you locked in high interest rate. We took our dog because our vet misdiagnosed our dog and recommended us this hospital. After $1000 worth of tests and meds they recommended surgery to remove her uterus at a price of $17,000! We balked and that price and immediately called around and found several place for $5,000 and even one at $3500! Granted they did try to help by finding a cheaper place but passed and we quickly picked her up and got her to surgery next day. I mean come on, I understand you offer a service to make money but this seems almost taking advantage of folks at their vulnerable state and feels borderline unethical to me. read more

We brought our little doggy here for a follow-up with Dr. Durtschi, a cardiologist. Everything went so smoothly! The vet that takes your pets history and discusses concerns before you see the cardiologist is SO SWEET! I hate that I didn't get her name. I had a migraine and she dimmed the lights and closed the shades to make me more comfortable. Both her and Dr. Durtschi are very thorough and make sure you understand everything. First off the exam fee is half the price of what VCA charges. Both times i went there was no wait. The facility is clean, spacious, and well taken care of. The receptionist/vet techs are so compassionate and truly care for the well being of your pets. The vets are good but they really try to sell you on their services which are marked up extremely high. If you can wait until the morning to see your normal vet you will save hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I only do what is absolutely necessary for my pet. The blood tests, xrays, etc will always be cheaper at my regular vet. The vet techs will help you figure out how to eliminate services that aren't necessary right then and save you money. The vet is nice and a good vet but just seems very money hungry. Of course that is their job being an emergency vet. I do recommend this place but just make sure you only do what's necessary and get all the other stuff done at your main vet. read more

My son brought our family dog, Penny, into the emergency clinic for labored breathing. She had recently had surgery in October, tumor/mass removal. We were aware she had cancer but thought it would not come back as aggressively. After the techs went over everything with my son, he called me and they explained her X-Ray and that the cancer had taken over our poor girls lungs. Devastating news. The kindness the staff showed my son went far beyond any expectation. This hospital isn't about money, they aren't desensitized to dealing with dying pets, they actually and truly care. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!! My dog threw up a lot of blood & had a seizure so naturally we panicked & went to the closest emergency room. Wish I had researched it first. This place only cares about money & will do everything they can to take as much money as possible. My visit left me dissatisfied & concerned about the level of care provided to my beloved pet, Sarge. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that communication & professionalism were lacking. I was told it was $175 Emergency exam fee & required a $1000 deposit was in case they needed to do any lifesaving/ emergency services. They were more interested in securing this deposit than asking what was wrong with Sarge. After paying the deposit I was told to wait alone in an exam room. When the assistant came into the exam room she asked questions about the visit. I tried to show her a picture of the blood he threw up since it a was a lot. She barely glanced at the photo & failed to provide any clarity on the procedures or treatments being administered. She said the Dr would be right in. 20 mins later Dr Valerie Lew came in. She didn't give her name or introduce herself. She didn't provide an update on what they were doing with Sarge. She said he was anemic but didn't know why. She recommended an ultrasound & said the assistant will explain the treatment plan. She didn't spend much time with us & didn't fully explain what was going on. The assistant returned to the exam room with the "treatment plan." The so-called "treatment plan" presented felt more like a transactional estimate of costs rather than a complete care plan tailored to Sarge's needs. The lack of transparency continued as I attempted to understand the recommended ultrasound treatment plan. When I had questions the assistant was unable to answer them. The inability to answer my questions accurately only added to my confusion so l asked to speak with the Dr again. The assistant told us the Dr was on a phone call. The assistant made us feel incompetent by saying, "The Dr already went over this with you." I said we would wait until the Dr was available to make sure l had all of the information to make the best decision. The Dr came back in. The Dr delivered information in overly technical terms, requiring repeated requests for layman's terms. The diagnosis of a potential liver issue was delivered without clarity on the problem or potential outcomes, leaving us feeling helpless. We elected not to do the ultrasound & asked for a new treatment plan. The assistant returned with the new plan. This plan had a $107 charge for Ultrasound FAST Scan that was not included on the first plan. When going over all of the charges I asked what treatment had already been given & she said, "There's been no treatment." All of these charges totaling $1,130 were just for diagnostic test which they still couldn't tell us what was wrong except to offer another $1600 worth of tests. The assistant said even with the $1,600 ultrasound they still might not know what the issue was or if they found an issue it would be thousands of dollars for surgery & hospital stay. What I was presented was not a treatment plan. It was an estimate of cost. It felt very transactional. Neither the assistant nor the Dr could provide us with what was best for Sarge. What his actual treatment might look like. What his recovery would be. I elected to bring him home. They said they would bring sarge out on a gurney. We waited outside for 10 mins. They came walking out with a towel under his back legs forcing him to walk. He was not doing well & shouldn't have been forced to walk out to the car. The disregard for Sarge's comfort & dignity was appalling. The decision to force him to walk despite his obvious distress only added to our distress & confirmed our worst fears about the quality of care provided. In the end, our decision to bring Sarge home was made out of desperation. Tragically, Sarge's condition deteriorated rapidly, & less than 5 hours later, we were forced to make the difficult decision to end his suffering. We took him to a different hospital which had much more compassionate staff.I called spoke with Sebastian about my visit. He apologized for our experience & said he would meet with the hospital director & come up with a way to compensate us for the poor service. 2 days later I got a call back from Missy Manlove. I described the poor care Sarge received. She said she reviewed Sarge's case & all of the tests were appropriate. I explained that it was more about the lack of treatment & compassion. I was so upset with our service & that I did not want to pay for any of it. I offered to cover their cost for the services but said I didn't want them making money off my tragedy especially since the treatment was so awful. Missy said the only thing she was willing to do was refund the emergency exam fee. This still left me paying $1,300 for test that left only more questions & opportunity for them to run more expensive test read more

I had specialty consultation on an emergency basis. If you call them, they answer right away and don't keep you on hold. If I could give this place negative stars I would. Please NEVER bring your pet here. I had brought my puppy here because he has chronic bronchitis. We are aware of his condition and have done blood work and x-rays weekly. He had an episode where he could not breathe and needed an oxygen cage. His primary hospital did not have any cages available for his size. I found this ER and called to see if they had any available. Prior to committing him they made me extra aware that this is going to cost a significant amount of money and I told them I was totally okay with the charges stated. After committing my dog they tell me HE HAS TO do all the testing I have already done. I decline because all he needs is his oxygen cage because we have done this before and he had an appointment with his dr the next day. I asked to speak to the Dr to offer me some other insight because the nurse was not being helpful and really pushing me to do the tests I have already done. Two minutes later another nurse walks out with my puppy and told me that I can have him back since I refused all the treatments they offered. I asked if she was a Dr and they stated that the Dr would not be available for another 'hour or two'. I asked if the Dr had a chance to look at my dog and they replied with "he already put his hands on him". I was extremely confused by the answer given and just wanted to speak to the vet available on duty. Just to reiterate I had no problem paying for any extra services if needed but I wanted a professional opinion. I ask to speak to him one more time and they said that he is busy with other emergencies and that I am not the only customer there. I understand that I do not take priority over other patients however, he did not care to place him in an oxygen cage knowing time and time again it would help alleviate his symptoms. They were very dismissive and did not listen to what troubled my puppy. I have serious concerns about the eligibility of this clinic and the level of care they deliver to their patients. LONG-TIME CUSTOMER NEVER COMING BACK. THEY CARE ABOUT YOUR MONEY FAR MORE THAN YOUR PET'S HEALTH. We moved to the area in January & have been to see them 10+ times over the course of 7 months for multiple issues with our lab, to the tune of $25,000 collectively. We will never return after our last experience. Our dog had been slack-jawed for 3 days, unable to close his mouth even when not panting. He had recently been boarded, & we were concerned of possible heat stroke. We brought him in at 6pm and waited 4 hours before a technician came in & said the doctor recommended $850 x-rays even though she had not even laid eyes on our dog. We trusted them and approved, and when they brought him back to us they said the doctor had done a "thorough" investigation of his mouth and could not find any issue. Total cost of the visit was $1,300 with no solution. 1 day later, we took him to our family vet and within 5 seconds of looking in his mouth, they were able to identify (and show us obviously) that his molar was cracked completely in half down to the root to the point that pushing on the gums made the 2 pieces of tooth separate. The doctor either lied about having done a thorough investigation, or she was negligent in her "investigation" and unwilling to admit it. After multiple calls and 2 weeks worth of interactions, the head of customer service (Missy) refused a refund and claimed that the molar must have been cracked in half in the 24 hours between our visit and our family vet's assessment. She was not willing to consider that the doctor made a mistake, and she even said "I am going to agree to disagree and stand behind my doctor here. She has a great track record, and you can't prove that the tooth wasn't cracked after your visit." They have on file that our dog only eats soft food, and when I explained that he had zero physical activity that could have caused this during that 1 day, she tried to say that he could've cracked his molar completely in half simply by biting down on it with his other teeth. Completely disregarding the fact he was in enough pain for 3 days prior that he wouldn't close his mouth all the way. This company clearly cares far more about profit than your animal's health. We had been entrusting our pup's health to them for 7 months worth of visits, but this doctor is negligent and the company will take your money without giving you what you paid for (a solution to your pet's ailments). read more
