Pacific Coast Grill has the best outdoor beachfront dining for those who love the smell of the ocean while watching the waves crash onto the sand as you enjoy your drinks and meal. The menu has a nice variety to choose from and the food is good. We went for Easter brunch and there were some additional items on the menu that day. The menu prices are on the higher side but remember you're in a prime location in sunny Southern California. They have a nice selection of drinks as well. We did not have any desserts but there are about 6 items on the dessert menu. We had reservations via Open Table (which I recommend) and the wait was only about 10 minutes past our reservation time. But we were willing to wait for an outdoor table. The service is good. There are outdoor heaters but I recommend you take a sweater or jacket if you get cold easily. They have umbrellas for those who do not want to be in direct sunlight. Valet Parking is $8 and they are fairly quick to retrieve your car. I was looking for a beautiful and easy location to host my friend's baby sprinkle. We had a small group of eight women and just wanted to relax, eat, and enjoy each other's company. I reached out to several places in Encinitas, but most never replied or required thousands of dollars to reserve a private room. Then came Pacific Coast Grill. From my very first call, the team at Pacific Coast Grill was kind, accommodating, and made everything effortless. They let me book the table exactly where I wanted, encouraged me to bring my own flowers, decorations, and cake (which they even stored in their fridge), and offered an extra table for gifts--free of charge. On the day of the event, they let me in 20 minutes before opening so I could set up. Our server was absolutely wonderful--attentive yet never rushed us. We had all the time we wanted to chat, take photos, enjoy our drinks and meals, and open gifts. Later, he brought out the cake for photos, then took it back to slice and serve perfectly for everyone. It was a perfect day, and the mom-to-be felt so celebrated. I've never experienced a restaurant go so far above and beyond--without any extra fees or pressure. Pacific Coast Grill has always been a favorite for my family, but this experience truly confirmed how special this place is. Sat at the upstairs bar Sunday, March 1st at around 4:30pm. After getting drinks, the bartender told us to move to the side to make room for a couple that he spotted entering the room. Guess he knew them. So we moved to the left, and he said, "No. The other way." So we moved onto the very corner of the bar. The couple sat down, and it was crowded with them squeezed in there, but we didn't want to be rude, so we said nothing. Then the bartender poured my wife more wine and loudly said, "Let's get this lady some more wine. She doesn't look happy about this." Passive aggressive douche bag. He caused the problem, and he calls out my wife like she's the issue? What a shame. First time we ever went to this restaurant, and it would've become a regular hangout if not for one forty-something loser who wanted to suck up to his regulars and insult his brand new customers. Amazing, food, service and the view!! This was our second time here both being an Anniversary dinner. Adam was our server who has worked there 30 years +. He knows the menu very well and will make recommendations. We started with the chowder a good size portion great for sharing. The chives and hint of bacon were nice, it did need a bit of pepper but I didn't ask as we were hungry. We shared the Longboard sushi which was salmon and soft shell crab . They give you 10! Pieces with the usual ginger and wasabi. It was delicious and nicely plated. I was already getting full so I stopped and we took it home. I ordered the delightful seafood paella. It had a nice tangy tomato based sauce a selection of seafood and a grilled lobster tail. I shared some of this with hubby but took a third of it home. Husband got the slow cooked short ribs with plum sauce. It came with cheesy potato and sprouts and microgreens that added a nice pop to the plate. The ribs were very tender but the plum sauce was a little to subtle not alot of flavor. Maybe needed some red wine to give it a deeper flavor. But that did not stop it from being inhaled! I was pretty full. but then they said they were bringing out a complimentary dessert for our Anniversary. Their signature bread pudding which was warm served with their housemade vanilla gelato oh my so delicious. An amazing meal with a great view of surfers and crashing waves. We attempted to make a reservation but due to the size of our group, they weren't able to seat us until 7pm, which is really late for me to be having dinner...but what are you going to do? Our server, John, was great. Very accommodating to the various shifts and changes that our group presented to him. They all did cocktails and wine and I ordered a bottle of Pellegrino. $9.50 for a 25.3 oz bottle! I can purchase a whole case at Costco for not much more than that. I shared the Ahi Poke Tower with a friend and we both loved it! It was full of crab and ahi with a not-to-spicy mayo. It cake with some crispy chips that completed the savory taste of this appetizer. Others also had the Mixed Organic Greens, which were fresh and served with bits of cranberry, almonds and they held the blue cheese. Said it was a good salad. Also ordered the lobster and shrimp chowder, which I was told had a great taste, was a bit too thick, but overall a good choice. For the main dish I had the Pacific Paella. Always a sucker for Paella! And this didn't disappoint! It was full of lobster, mahi, clams, scallops, shrimp with the best saffron rice to round it out. The sauce was flavorful and rich and the fish was cooked to perfection. Would order this again in a heart beat!!! Came here for my wife's birthday. Placed a reservation a few weeks in advance and requested to sit beachside, which they accommodated. We were blessed with the most amazing sunset for our dinner. My wife ordered the paella and I ordered the seafood pasta. Both dishes were excellent. Great portions of seafood and everything tasted fresh. Our cocktails were excellent as well. I ordered the paper plane and my wife ordered the pineapple serano margarita. Service was fantastic. I can't remember the name of our server but she was very friendly and attentive. Stopped in here for a quick lunch after picking my mom up from the airport. Although they were busy, they weren't super busy, even though their small valet-only parking lot was crammed with cars! We parked next door in the beach parking lot for FREE - although I think we were supposed to pay lol...oops. We sat outside. It was a perfect 70° outside (as always in San Diego) and not a cloud in the sky. We just ordered the large Clam Chowder bowl ($15) and the Fish & Chips ($22.50). My mom said the chowder was good. My fish were pretty small, but they were hot and the batter was tasty. The coleslaw that came on the plate was a disaster. No mayo at all and the cabbage was turning color (meaning they made it probably a few days ago). Not good at all. The fries however were tasty and crunchy. So, not bad, but I would order something else if we ever came back. Service was good and the view was phenomenal. Definitely get a table outside if you can and it's not cold or windy and they have tables literally next to the sand, or they have some set back a ways by the wall/windows...whatever your preference. They also do have heaters overheard. Our bill total was $52.67. Not bad, but I did notice a 4% surcharge that I didn't see when I initially paid the bill. We had a great birthday dinner last night for our daughter's 21st birthday here! All the staff from the hostess to the server were personable and helpful and friendly and in a good mood. Unfortunately the sea bass was way over salted and I didn't enjoy my meal but we still had a great night, the server even brought out the birthday cake we brought with the candles and sliced and served it for us. What a beautiful seaside restaurant! Just landed from Nashville and my friend brought me here for lunch. Loved watching the surfers navigate the waves while sharing the delicious Dungeness crab guacamole and the Seabass tacos. Loved the presentation and there was plenty for both of us. Our server kept our iced teas coming and let us stay as long as we wanted to chat and catch up. Restrooms were clean, parking is limited so valet is $7 plus tip. How do you mess up fish at a seafood restaurant? The cocktails were overly sugary: Fancy names and subpar taste. The fried dish was sitting in oil. Fried doesn't have to always mean greasy. It's as if they cooked it too slow and the breading soaked up all the oil. I will not be coming back. There are better places to eat. Our server was polite, patient, efficient. read more

We walked half a mile from our hotel to this lovely restaurant. We had a 6:00 reservation but we arrived early. They seated us right away, the place was pretty empty at that time. We sat on the patio practically right on the ocean. I had the pan seared sea bass. The piece of fish was quite large and was delicious with mashed potatoes and spinach. The sauce had way too many tomatoes for my liking and it didn't have much flavor. My husband had the Halibut with risotto and Parmesan cream sauce. Sadly, he was served a tiny little portion of halibut for $47.00. This was not quite the bang for our buck that we expected. Desert was Tempura Fried Banana with vanilla and chocolate gelato. It was divine! We had read about the 4% surcharge for "rising operational costs" before we decided to eat here. We reduced the waiter's tip due to this ridiculous, whiny tactic. I had a wonderful meal here. The food was great and so was the service. Unfortunately, i left a power bank on the floor by the power outlet. It is about 10 inch by 8 inch by 5 inch. It is a power storage unit that i can replace for about $80. Not a lot but more than a litttle. When i called the restaurant, the person on the phone said that they "have not found it". This is not an object that is hard to find. It is big and black and red. So, what are the possibilities?. The person on the phone said, "if we find it, we will call you." They had my phone number with my reservation. I wonder if a worker took it home? Anyway, I guess I expected them to have it waiting for me. It was not. They would have gotten a 5 from me if i felt like the person on the phone cared and wanted to find the device, even if we do not find it.
