    Wagyu Burger

I admittedly didn't know this was Richard Blaise's concept when my boss said we were going there. It's a lovely restaurant, very coastal chic vibe. The staff was immensely kind though they did sweep my drink away before I had half finished it. The food was good, we had several appetizers including the wagyu skewers, jalapeño croquettes, and bahn mi meatballs. The meatballs were my favorite second only to the incredible garlic croissants. Now those were the highlight. I ordered the Wagyu burger and found they cooked it under. I ordered a medium and it was medium rare. The ketchup had truffle in it which I could've done without, though I'm glad it wasn't on the fries which were exceptionally good. The burger also was packed with flavor and it hit on every level. It was a great dining experience and enjoyable evening

My first time attending Restaurant Week and this was a great choice. It is located near a golf course, so parking was a bit of a challenge, but they had some spots across the street that weren't too far of a walk. The restaurant status on the patio and we had a great view and the weather was perfect. They had a menu that I thought was just for Restaurant Week, but I was told that is actually one they keep your round. It was a really great deal as it included three courses for $39. There were several of us so we got a few dishes to try. The calamari was good and lightly breaded, not too heavy or over fried. I got the bucatini pasta which I thought tasted very fresh and flavorful. Also tried the salmon which was delicious and had lots of flavor to it as well, it was cooked just right. For dessert I decided to get the s'mores cake, and I was happy I did. It had a toasted meringue on top, and a chocolate sauce. Everyone agreed that it was amazing. I also tried the lemon curd yuzu pot, which I really enjoyed because I love lemon. It was light and not too thick or overly sweet, but it had that nice tangy flavor from the lemon curd. I would definitely go back to this restaurant, even though it's a little bit out of the way for me. The service was excellent, and I appreciate the recommendations and explanations of the menu. This is a great spot to have a nice lunch with friends, or even as a couple.

Wow. Listen, I didn't know what to expect from a golf-themed restaurant, but Ember and Rye completely swept me off my feet. The view alone is worth the drive, and then the food and wine list walked in and just floored me. The service was genuinely wonderful, warm, attentive, all of it. And the seafood tower? I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you I have never in my life seen shrimp that big. I was shooketh. A couple in our group who got the steak felt it was just okay, but my veal dish was absolutely incredible. This is the kind of place you go for a date night or to celebrate something that deserves a really beautiful evening. Highly recommend!

Before our steak arrived we were able to choose a steak knife from this magnetic board.

We took the shuttle from the Aviara to dinner at the Ember and Rye. Since it was a lovely evening we sat outside and they had heaters if you felt chilly. We had excellent service from Louis and Clare for our dinner. The menu was creative, the Thai chicory salad was flavorful with a bit of a kick. The garlic croissant was warm a flaky. The mains were cooked to perfection and delicious. We enjoyed our meal and would recommend it to you!

We checked out this spot during a work trip to the area. The restaurant is pretty and open, which is inviting. The bar area is roomy and minimal but sophisticated. Our server for dinner was fantastic and kind. We had steaks for dinner, which were flavorful and cooked as requested. The corn brûlée was disappointing and came ice cold. Our server swapped it out for the broccolini, which ended up being amazing. I would recommend this place.

This steakhouse is located in the Aviara golf course's clubhouse. It has ample indoor dining space and an outdoor balcony with views of the 18th hole green. This is a high-end steakhouse by the same chef as Juniper and Ivy and other notable restaurants. Stand out appetizers were the squash blossom lettuce wraps and tuna tostada. Hard to go wrong with the tuna, and this was a unique take on lettuce wraps that I've never seen before. For entrées, between the bone in swordfish steak, ribeye steak and lamb chops, the swordfish was the best. The swordfish bone-in steak is large and comes blackened with good flavors. The ribeye and lamb chops were high-quality cuts of meat, but lacked a crust that I might expect at a high-end steakhouse. For sides the brussels sprouts were very flavorful and crispy. The carrots are heavily seasoned and no ordinary carrot. For dessert, the lemon uzu has a strong lemon flavor that bursts in your mouth, yum! Service was excellent and caring. A great place to splurge after golf or for a special occasion.

Sadly, the drinks and appetizers were better than the entrees and sides. Beautiful restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating with a nice view. They have their own onsite parking lot. Great customer service by Jenna (so sorry we called you Jenny all night and I wish you had corrected us. My friends misread your name tag!) and overall, very attentive staff. Complimentary garlic croissants were a great start. The ahi tuna tostada had a good amount of tuna and avocado on it but there could've been a little more flavor on the tuna. The A5 wagyu beef skewers were delicious and came with a unique dipping sauce on the side. I loved the jalapeño cheddar croquettes, nice flavor and texture. The kona kampachi crudo had such a nice and refreshing flavor, paired nicely with the rice crackers. The squash blossom lettuce wraps were good and came with a unique dipping sauce. My group enjoyed the oysters, they were small but they liked the cucumber ice and passionfruit mignonette it came with. The crab and lobster bucatini was good, noodles were cooked perfectly. The corn crème brûlée was not what I was expecting and contained more custard than corn. The glazed bbq carrots were also not what I was expecting, they were black and when they initially arrived on the table, I thought they were ribs. Purple carrots were used and the flavor was interesting. Brussel sprouts had a nice flavor. The nuoc mam chimichurri wasn't what I was expecting. You can't really taste the fish sauce, it's very light but it was good. The Caesar salad was nothing special. The fruit smash mocktail was incredible and my group enjoyed their cocktails. The embered treasure chest is cheaper if you're buying 2 cocktails but only includes certain cocktails. It arrives in a smoky treasure chest that smells great. The beef ribeye King Charles cut was $196 and not worth it. We've come to the conclusion that we just don't enjoy ribeyes. But the steak arrived cold so we requested they reheat it, which they did with no problem. My friends shared a different steak and said it was nothing special. The steaks also arrive already cut which we hate, so be aware when ordering steaks here if you prefer to cut into your own steaks. The spiny lobster special was good, $62 for about 4-5 oz of lobster, the flavor was really good and I like how the meat was easily accessible. I received a nice complimentary dessert for my birthday and they also comp'd another dessert due to the cold steak, which was appreciated. I chose the lemon dessert, which was okay. Overall, a nice dining experience but I would only return here if I'm in the area and would probably only order drinks and a bunch of appetizers.

My friend and I were spending a day in Carlsbad, so we made a lunch reservation at this gorgeous restaurant. We were seated on the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course. We both opted for the prix fixe menu, which consisted of a starter, entree, and dessert for $39. I selected the beet & pear salad, blackened king salmon, and raspberry & vanilla cheesecake. My friend got the caesar salad, bucatini pasta, and lemon & yuzu pot de crème. We shared, so that we could sample all the wonderful dishes. The food was excellent, all of it! I have to say, what really stood out the most was the caesar salad that came with croissant croutons and artichoke hearts. It was notably THE BEST caesar salad I've had! I knew prior to coming here that the food would be amazing. I had very high expectations, knowing Richard Blais curated the menu. Ember & Rye exceeded my expectations! My salmon was perfectly cooked. I loved how the dish came with roasted organic carrots. The only slight margin of error was the carrots were still a bit hard. The flavor was definitely there though! Another 5 minutes in the oven and they would've been perfect. This in no way took away from my exceptional experience. After lunch, my friend and I toured the property. The view was truly stunning! Come for lunch and stay for a photo shoot!

Located on the beautiful property of Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Course over looking the lagoon with its own parking lot. We made reservations for lunch and sat on the patio admiring the golf players, beautiful weather and scenery. This is a casual steakhouse by Chef Richard Blais but we were fixated on the prix fixe menu. Glad we had an appetite because the portions were huge. First course: Beet & pear salad: sweet beets and pear paired with frisée greens. Sprinkled with a middle eastern spice, zaa'tar that I thought was granola. Underneath was a caramelized yogurt sauce and topped with mint leaves. Truly a refreshing salad. Caesar salad: Romaine lettuce, kale, artichokes and croissant croutons. The dressing was well balanced, not overly garlicky or creamy. The croutons stole the show. Second course: Blackened king salmon: Perfectly seared creating a crispy flavorful seasoned skin with moist interior. The roasted carrots were hard and too tough. Needed to be roasted longer. The walnut raisin chutney sauce tied the dish together. Bucatini pasta: This was a subtle garlic butter sauce with baby tomatoes, broccolini, kale sprouts, sprinkled with basil herb bread crumbs. This dish was surprisingly light and fluffy, it wasn't too heavy. That's when you know it's high quality pasta. Third course: Raspberry vanilla cheesecake: No bake, no crust, instead it was with rice crispy and oat crumble with raspberry sauce. I'm not a cheesecake fan so this wasn't for me. It was dense. Yuzu lemon pot de crème: This tasted like limoncello/key lime pie flavor. Very tasty, citrusy with a bit of sweet and sour. We enjoyed every single dish. I would have liked the roasted carrots to be softer and I would have ordered chocolate s'more cake not cheesecake. Otherwise, bravo. I would come back for dinner.

Had brunch here during Father's Day weekend and we all had a great meal. I was raised in San Diego and my family still lives there so I have been to many different restaurants in this same building, Ember & Rye being the newest edition, which is another Richard Blais restaurant, who I am a big fan of. Last time I was here it was Argyle Steakhouse but I will say that Ember & Rye is an upgrade. The interior is beautifully done and it's very open, spacious, and has a very classy look to it. I know they also serve dinner as my family has been a few times and they say that the steaks are fabulous. Parking is extremely easy, free, and plentiful right out front of the restaurant. Our server was also very polite and so was the rest of the staff that we encountered. It has great views of the lagoon in the back and is just a very peaceful place to have a nice meal. This particular morning, I was more in a lunch mood than a breakfast mood, which is rare for me because I am a big breakfast fan, so I decided to start my meal with a Wedge Salad and thought it was really nice. It was filled with all the delicious parts of the wedge, and they definitely did not skimp on ingredients. Next, I followed up with the Wagyu Cheeseburger and thought it was honestly really good. It was packed full of flavor, cooked perfectly, and overall I just really enjoyed it. I already plan to come back next time I'm in town to have dinner here and would suggest this location to anyone in the area.

    Steak tartare

Caught HH at Aviara and then decided to stay for an early dinner. The bar is lovely and the drinks are solid. Kumamoto oysters, cucumber-sorrel ice, passionfruit mignonette...I am a fan of the taste and presentation of these oysters. Delicious! Steak tartare...I've been on a bit of a tartare kick, this was good and it was fun to be served to potato chips, but doesn't beat my current favorite from Bazaar Meat. Dinner was fine. The corn crème brûlée was a big surprise...a different take for creamed corn, and I'd actually enjoy having this for dessert. Bread service was 2 darling little croissants (American butter) piping hot from the oven. Entertainment at the bar is high between the golfers ending their day here and folks coming in for celebration dinners. The bar team is also a hoot. Would come back for the bar and oysters.

We had such a great experience at Amber & Wright, and a big part of that was thanks to Erica. From the moment we arrived, she was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. You can tell she genuinely cares about creating a great experience--she checked in at just the right moments and made sure everything was perfect without ever feeling overbearing. Her attention to detail really stood out, from remembering small preferences to making thoughtful recommendations. It elevated the entire visit. The food was absolutely amazing--beautifully presented and full of flavor--and the setting made it even better. Sitting with views of the golf course created such a relaxing, elevated atmosphere. Erica truly made our experience memorable. We'll definitely be back and will be asking for her again!

The drinks were good and strong, unique and creative. Which I guess when you're going out and want to stay on theme, it works. We had the coconut broth hamachi which was so lip-smackingly addictive with those wonton chips! I would come back just for that dish! The chicken satay skewers were also delicious and the sauce that came with it was a good mix of sweet, savory, spicy and salty. I do think from there it was kind of just okay? I got the half fried chicken which smelled a fish sauce glaze and that's what I went in expecting but there was no punch of that fish sauce flavor you know? It needed a bit more pop. BF got the pork belly banh mi bowl which I guess in theory why would you get that at a Thai place? But the pork belly was hard and firm, not as you'd expect it to be which was dissapointing. Our friends got the Khao Soi which was delicious I do have to say and the Panang with Brisket. I think it was cool to try but im just stuck in my ways and prefer the ole mom and pop down the road with more options. But its fun for a night out!

Our table 4 enjoyed the 8-ounce filet mignon, $68, the 60-ounce bull's-eye ribeye, $74, and a tasty mac & cheese, $15. Excellent cuts of meat. Prepared to order. Creative array of cocktails. Lively bar area. Wines by the glass from $17-$43. Local draft beers. Expensive wine list. The cheapest white is $60 a bottle for an Albarino from California, $72 for a Santa Barbara Pinot Noir, and then up to sell several over $200 and $300. The Dominus, from Napa, is $620. We brought our own wines; corkage is $35. Service is among the best we've experienced in the county. This included the handling of our two older wines and great busing service throughout the dinner, with water refills and well-orchestrated clearing of the plates. Somewhat dark, noisy interior, outdoor patio for casual dining and happy hour fun, watching the colorful crowds passing by on this busy section of Solana Beach.

We had this fun bar table so we were higher off the ground. It was cold, so sitting near the door was not fun when the door kept opening and closing with that draft coming in. That made our experience a little more annoying. Most of us had to keep our jacket on to stay warm. Wasn't really expecting to wear my jacket during dinner. Anyways, forget my coldness for a second. The food was delicious and here I go: Parker House Rolls (we ordered 2)....YUM! fresh out of the oven....soft and just yum! Bacon: it was alright....not a fan of the glaze, but others in my party liked it. Boards: Associate (1) and Executive (1) Meat: 8 oz snake river wagyu and 22 oz dry-aged ribeye Sides: Potato au gratin (2), asparagus (1), whipped potatoes (2), shell mac (2) and broccolini (1) It was a great experience, definitely on the pricey side, but my daughter enjoyed her 21st birthday dinner surprise with family!

She greeted us with a big smile and checked us in our reservation. We were seated in the outside patio overlooking the beach. It was a beautiful view. The server came to greet us right away. He ask what we wanted to drink and afterwards told us the special menu for the night. First we started with the appetizers. We had the Fritto di Calamari e gamberretti and the Carpaccio di manzo. The calamari and rock shrimp were soft and crunchy. The batter was flavorful but subtle and the marinara sauce tied it altogether. We loved the filet mignon carpaccio. It was tender and rich. The cheese, capers and arugula provided a great balance to this dish. For our entree, we had the spaghetti portofino, Pappardelle con funghi e Capesente and Cappellaci di Manzo. When our food came we could not believe how huge their portions are. One entree is equal to 2 entrees and it makes sense because the price is up there. The Portofino, had huge amount variety of seafood and the scallop and jumbo prawn stood out which was placed on top of the dish. Wish they did have more spaghetti, but we were happy with it. All the seafood was cooked perfectly. Soft and tender and the pesto sauce was more like a little bit of marinara and pesto. The Parpadelle was cooked with just the right texture and the different types mushroom had full of Umami flavors. You can tell they make their own pasta. The 2 huge scallops in the sides were cooked just right, tender and just delicious! This was to die for. The Carpellaci was amazing!!! The hat-pasta was full of braised prime short rib and the porcini cream sauce with aged asiago and black truffles really excelled this dish. The sauce was creamy and just bursting with great flavors. All of these dishes were outstanding!!! Ofcourse none of us finished our entree. We were stuffed half way. We were not disappointed!!! We had plenty of leftovers. Also the bus boy and the servers really took care of us. Our water was always filled up. At the end they served my hubby with a birthday cannoli with a candle. We all got a taste of his birthday dessert and wow this cannoli is fantastic. It's a great way to end the evening! If you're heading to Carlsbad, this place is a wonderful restaurant to spend a special occasion or a celebration to the end of your vacation.

To make matters worse, when I asked for cracked peppers, he set the pepper dispenser on the table and walked away. The food was decent. I had eggplant. It was ok. I do not recommend this restaurant. For a place that charges $50/plate the food should be outstanding and the service should be excellent. I have been to Tuscany and this place doesn't come close.

The restaurant is very nice and clean both inside and outside. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, so great first impression. Henry was our server and he was amazing! Very professional, great sense of humor, and very attentive. Took great care of our dog too. Some other staff members came by and everyone was very nice. We ordered the crab cakes, spicy N'duja and shrimp rigatoni, and fresh catch tacos. Everything had good flavoring and the portions were more than reasonable. We also felt the prices were reasonable considering the location, quality of the food, high-level service, and beautiful relaxing ambiance. We eat out often but don't really leave reviews. But our experience at 20 | Twenty was definitely worth mentioning. We will return and try other items next time in the area and will be sure to tell others about it! Thanks for a very very pleasant surprise!!
