First off, I want to start by saying the service was AMAZING!! Johnny & Jenna were our servers and they were so friendly, attentive, and professional. The food was also really good, my favorite was the banh mi meatballs (not pictured) and my husband's favorite was the rigatoni bolognese. When my husband reserved it through Open Table, he put that it was our anniversary. The staff surprised us with an anniversary dessert! Many staff members told us happy anniversary which was really sweet. Even the manager came out to tell us. Overall the food was good, but I think the service was the best part!

Late post - review from my 2025 holiday trip- We enjoyed the bar, friendly service, elegant view, and delicious handcrafted cocktails. I enjoyed their creation of the Manhattan very much. When we moved to the dining room for dinner, the experience dropped to a-meh First, we got the ONLY table in the room without any view, it was next to the wall and a pillar. I guess it is good for first date, as you can only look at each other ;) The server recommended the chef's special cut- Manhattan cut-, and we took his suggestion. It was a bad decision; the cut had a thick, tender middle, and I also choked on it. It was over-seasoned too, quite salty. When we shared the feedback with the server, he said he would let the chef know, but did not offer any other practical options. The famous buttery croissant was delicious, the dessert was standard. Nothing wow in the dining room. I would recommend staying at the bar for dinner!

Food was fantastic loved everything we had, grilled chicken wings, wedge salad, burger and fries, steak and dessert. The interior of the restaurant was beautifully designed, great views from every table, service was great! Will definitely go again!

Impressed by another Richard Blais restaurant! Ember and Rye is on the property for Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad but has its own separate entrance which was easy to find. There is a large complimentary parking lot right in front of the restaurant. The ambiance inside was beautiful, modern, and clean. Reservations were very easy online. If the weather permits, I highly recommend sitting outside in their wrap around patio to enjoy the lagoon and gold course views. The food was delicious. We opted for the lunch pri fixe menu which included one salad, entree, and dessert. My daughter enjoyed her burger and fries. The portions were filling. The food was fresh and tasty. We ate it all! Service was overall great. All our servers were friendly and professional. We felt welcomed by the hostess upon arrival. Service was a bit lacking towards the end and we had to flag someone down for our dessert and check. All in all, we would definitely return and hopefully see Chef Blais!

I admittedly didn't know this was Richard Blaise's concept when my boss said we were going there. It's a lovely restaurant, very coastal chic vibe. The staff was immensely kind though they did sweep my drink away before I had half finished it. The food was good, we had several appetizers including the wagyu skewers, jalapeño croquettes, and bahn mi meatballs. The meatballs were my favorite second only to the incredible garlic croissants. Now those were the highlight. I ordered the Wagyu burger and found they cooked it under. I ordered a medium and it was medium rare. The ketchup had truffle in it which I could've done without, though I'm glad it wasn't on the fries which were exceptionally good. The burger also was packed with flavor and it hit on every level. It was a great dining experience and enjoyable evening

My first time attending Restaurant Week and this was a great choice. It is located near a golf course, so parking was a bit of a challenge, but they had some spots across the street that weren't too far of a walk. The restaurant status on the patio and we had a great view and the weather was perfect. They had a menu that I thought was just for Restaurant Week, but I was told that is actually one they keep your round. It was a really great deal as it included three courses for $39. There were several of us so we got a few dishes to try. The calamari was good and lightly breaded, not too heavy or over fried. I got the bucatini pasta which I thought tasted very fresh and flavorful. Also tried the salmon which was delicious and had lots of flavor to it as well, it was cooked just right. For dessert I decided to get the s'mores cake, and I was happy I did. It had a toasted meringue on top, and a chocolate sauce. Everyone agreed that it was amazing. I also tried the lemon curd yuzu pot, which I really enjoyed because I love lemon. It was light and not too thick or overly sweet, but it had that nice tangy flavor from the lemon curd. I would definitely go back to this restaurant, even though it's a little bit out of the way for me. The service was excellent, and I appreciate the recommendations and explanations of the menu. This is a great spot to have a nice lunch with friends, or even as a couple.

Ahi Tuna Tostada, Crab & Lobster Bucanti, A5 Wagyu Skewers & Brussels Sprouts.

I attended a work event at Ember & Rye, where we started with a selection of shared appetizers. The first was the Ahi Tuna Tostada, topped with avocado, Thai chili, toasted coconut, pickled shallots, cilantro, and a mango-yuzu yolk. We also enjoyed the A5 Wagyu Beef Skewers, served with tomato jam, celery root horseradish, crispy shallots, and chervil. For my entrée, I chose the Crab & Lobster Bucatini, featuring J.R. Organics broccolini, Swiss chard, morel mushrooms, pecorino, preserved lemon, and herb breadcrumbs. We also shared the Embered Brussels Sprouts with charred spring onions, smoked butter, caramelized fish sauce, crispy shallots, and fresh herbs. Everything was delicious, but the pasta was definitely my favorite. It was incredibly flavorful, loaded with fresh seafood, vegetables, cheese, and a perfectly balanced sauce. The service and atmosphere was wonderful throughout the evening.

Wow. Listen, I didn't know what to expect from a golf-themed restaurant, but Ember and Rye completely swept me off my feet. The view alone is worth the drive, and then the food and wine list walked in and just floored me. The service was genuinely wonderful, warm, attentive, all of it. And the seafood tower? I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you I have never in my life seen shrimp that big. I was shooketh. A couple in our group who got the steak felt it was just okay, but my veal dish was absolutely incredible. This is the kind of place you go for a date night or to celebrate something that deserves a really beautiful evening. Highly recommend!

Before our steak arrived we were able to choose a steak knife from this magnetic board.

We took the shuttle from the Aviara to dinner at the Ember and Rye. Since it was a lovely evening we sat outside and they had heaters if you felt chilly. We had excellent service from Louis and Clare for our dinner. The menu was creative, the Thai chicory salad was flavorful with a bit of a kick. The garlic croissant was warm a flaky. The mains were cooked to perfection and delicious. We enjoyed our meal and would recommend it to you!

This steakhouse is located in the Aviara golf course's clubhouse. It has ample indoor dining space and an outdoor balcony with views of the 18th hole green. This is a high-end steakhouse by the same chef as Juniper and Ivy and other notable restaurants. Stand out appetizers were the squash blossom lettuce wraps and tuna tostada. Hard to go wrong with the tuna, and this was a unique take on lettuce wraps that I've never seen before. For entrées, between the bone in swordfish steak, ribeye steak and lamb chops, the swordfish was the best. The swordfish bone-in steak is large and comes blackened with good flavors. The ribeye and lamb chops were high-quality cuts of meat, but lacked a crust that I might expect at a high-end steakhouse. For sides the brussels sprouts were very flavorful and crispy. The carrots are heavily seasoned and no ordinary carrot. For dessert, the lemon uzu has a strong lemon flavor that bursts in your mouth, yum! Service was excellent and caring. A great place to splurge after golf or for a special occasion.

We checked out this spot during a work trip to the area. The restaurant is pretty and open, which is inviting. The bar area is roomy and minimal but sophisticated. Our server for dinner was fantastic and kind. We had steaks for dinner, which were flavorful and cooked as requested. The corn brûlée was disappointing and came ice cold. Our server swapped it out for the broccolini, which ended up being amazing. I would recommend this place.

Sadly, the drinks and appetizers were better than the entrees and sides. Beautiful restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating with a nice view. They have their own onsite parking lot. Great customer service by Jenna (so sorry we called you Jenny all night and I wish you had corrected us. My friends misread your name tag!) and overall, very attentive staff. Complimentary garlic croissants were a great start. The ahi tuna tostada had a good amount of tuna and avocado on it but there could've been a little more flavor on the tuna. The A5 wagyu beef skewers were delicious and came with a unique dipping sauce on the side. I loved the jalapeño cheddar croquettes, nice flavor and texture. The kona kampachi crudo had such a nice and refreshing flavor, paired nicely with the rice crackers. The squash blossom lettuce wraps were good and came with a unique dipping sauce. My group enjoyed the oysters, they were small but they liked the cucumber ice and passionfruit mignonette it came with. The crab and lobster bucatini was good, noodles were cooked perfectly. The corn crème brûlée was not what I was expecting and contained more custard than corn. The glazed bbq carrots were also not what I was expecting, they were black and when they initially arrived on the table, I thought they were ribs. Purple carrots were used and the flavor was interesting. Brussel sprouts had a nice flavor. The nuoc mam chimichurri wasn't what I was expecting. You can't really taste the fish sauce, it's very light but it was good. The Caesar salad was nothing special. The fruit smash mocktail was incredible and my group enjoyed their cocktails. The embered treasure chest is cheaper if you're buying 2 cocktails but only includes certain cocktails. It arrives in a smoky treasure chest that smells great. The beef ribeye King Charles cut was $196 and not worth it. We've come to the conclusion that we just don't enjoy ribeyes. But the steak arrived cold so we requested they reheat it, which they did with no problem. My friends shared a different steak and said it was nothing special. The steaks also arrive already cut which we hate, so be aware when ordering steaks here if you prefer to cut into your own steaks. The spiny lobster special was good, $62 for about 4-5 oz of lobster, the flavor was really good and I like how the meat was easily accessible. I received a nice complimentary dessert for my birthday and they also comp'd another dessert due to the cold steak, which was appreciated. I chose the lemon dessert, which was okay. Overall, a nice dining experience but I would only return here if I'm in the area and would probably only order drinks and a bunch of appetizers.

My friend and I were spending a day in Carlsbad, so we made a lunch reservation at this gorgeous restaurant. We were seated on the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course. We both opted for the prix fixe menu, which consisted of a starter, entree, and dessert for $39. I selected the beet & pear salad, blackened king salmon, and raspberry & vanilla cheesecake. My friend got the caesar salad, bucatini pasta, and lemon & yuzu pot de crème. We shared, so that we could sample all the wonderful dishes. The food was excellent, all of it! I have to say, what really stood out the most was the caesar salad that came with croissant croutons and artichoke hearts. It was notably THE BEST caesar salad I've had! I knew prior to coming here that the food would be amazing. I had very high expectations, knowing Richard Blais curated the menu. Ember & Rye exceeded my expectations! My salmon was perfectly cooked. I loved how the dish came with roasted organic carrots. The only slight margin of error was the carrots were still a bit hard. The flavor was definitely there though! Another 5 minutes in the oven and they would've been perfect. This in no way took away from my exceptional experience. After lunch, my friend and I toured the property. The view was truly stunning! Come for lunch and stay for a photo shoot!

What is the parking situation if we're not staying at the Hyatt?

I was not staying at the hotel either when I visited for breakfast. They have a large parking lot to do free self parking, which is what we chose to do, or you can also do valet right at the front door. Parking here is really easy.

I arrived at Pelly's Fish Market & Cafe (Carlsbad) on a Saturday (around 12:55PM). Parking is easy. The lot is very big. Customers order at the counter, and Staff brings the food to your table. Staff is polite enough. Staff had a very laid back, casual presence. The male staff member just appeared & plopped the food on the table before strolling over to chat with another customer. The clam chowder bowl arrived in 15 minutes. As mentioned, I appreciated the Boston Clam Chowder Bread Bowl ($16.99). The soup was unremarkable, but the sourdough bread is phenomenal. Also it was $11, now that's the price to pay for a mocktail. I went to another bar and they charged me $22 for a non-alcoholic soda drink, get out of here with that. Their menu looked divine, so many delicious options and they had healthy choices which I so appreciated! I got the kale and quinoa salad with grilled chicken and it was ready in about 15. I will say the salad was delicious BUT when I got home to eat it, there was no dressing and no silverware, they had forgotten both. I ended up using hummus that I had in the fridge, luckily, however had I not had that the salad would have been tough to enjoy.

Appreciated the friendly conversation, great atmosphere and stellar food and drink. Will definitely come back here next time I have an opportunity to visit. Also, they have Baked Alaska on their menu. Imagine that around a cozy fire? Sign me up for that.

Me and my partner came here because my partner wanted to try their charred broccoli…read more So we got that, the cornbread (waitress said it was a new item), and the market fish trout. The cornbread was easily the best I've ever had -- warm, flavorful, and moist. I don't like cornbread because it's usually dry but my goodness, this cornbread was anything but. It was the best cornbread I've ever had.The broccoli was also the best I've ever had. I'm not a fan of broccoli, but the cooks charred the outside to get such a nice, crispy texture without it tasting burnt. Meanwhile the broccoli stem was cooked to contrast with the crunchy-like bites of the charred head. The market fish trout was good, granted trout was dry and isn't my favorite fish. But I ordered it to pay attention to the other facets of the dish: the puree and mushrooms that accompanied it were the stars. At least the trout skin was crispy. Campfire has a rustic, cabin feel to it (I thought the arrows on the walls were a cool touch). Servers were great and attentive. I'd come back to try other entrees.
