They never responded to any of the calls or online requests. I called our realtor and was told that the tank was owned by the previous property owners. So I called around and had another company fill the tank. 5 months later, I got a call (not sure how they found my phone number) from All State claiming the tank was rented, and I need to pay for another inspection fee, and I wasn't allowed to fill the tank. I refused to do anything until I saw some proof that the tank was not owned, and I argued that I should not have to pay for another inspection fee, especially since most companies don't charge an inspection fee, and the tank was inspected twice within the past few months. Within minutes of the phone call, they sent someone back out and shut off our gas when we weren't home!!!! I called - no answer. I called their emergency number... no answer (comical). They called me back, were super rude and demanded that I empty the tank right away, and they will have it removed the next day. Long story short, I had another provider switch out the tank to one of theirs the next day, and I want nothing to do with this company. I can't believe they left us without gas, hot water, or cook top for two days!! So unprofessional, so rude, and terrible at returning calls. The most interesting thing is that at no time did any of them try to de-escalate the situation or offer any solutions. Just hostile, rude, and unhelpful. So many better options out there.

The location isn't the closest to my home but the ease in dealing with them makes them our go to. We did get a first delivery somewhat on time. Now it is December, with temps in the 30's, and we have been calling Amerigas since November. They seem to be watching our tank remotely, because they keep telling us they know how much propane we still have and they won't let us run out... but that is inaccurate. We are below 10% today. (they say we're at 30%) After numerous calls the lady has assured us they will be here by December 22. Previously she assured us that they will be here by December 17... I guess that date came and went. She cannot pinpoint a day or time, only that they will be here. Meanwhile, we are not using our heater. It will be Christmas in a few days and we don't know whether we will be spending that day in a hotel or not. We are changing companies as soon as possible, but in the meantime, I'm curious whether Amerigas will show up before we are at 0% or not. Seems like when it's a heating/health situation, there should be some liability for a company like that. I wonder if provision of fuel falls under any state regulations. I will be checking this out!

They told me they would send a delivery in the next week but could not tell me when. The following Thursday almost a week later they finally filled it up but because I was at work they locked off the tank so I could not use it until the could do a service call to hook up all my appliances. I called that night and they gave me the number to call for a service appointment on Friday morning and was told they could not make an appointment because they had no service technicians in my area. They told me they are closed on Saturday and Sunday so I waited til Monday and called again only to be told the same thing again. I called Tuesday and was put on hold for 40 min until the system hung up on me! I called back again and they said a service technician would call me to arrange an appointment but could give me no idea if when! So here I sit freezing in my home with no heat or hot water and no way to use my stove and no promise of someone to help me!

Of course I wanted to keep my insurance as no one is writing new insurance in my area. One demand was to cut down the trees over my propane tank, and they admitted it would be okay to move the tank to a location that did not have a tree overhead and was in a clearing. Dave was helpful explaining in a fire the ground heats up and causes the tank to heat and blow and if a tree was over it, the tree would be on fire. AC Propane drove clear around the desert to come up to my home because the direct road was still being repaired from a major wash out. Their charge was more than fair and they worked around my urgency to meet the insurance demand deadline and moved my tank to my open area location. Their price per gallon may not be the rock bottom, but their service has been excellent for me. I only fill once a year and when I call for a fill, they fill it quickly. They are happy to explain the propane market when I ask an intelligent question.

I called AC propane out because they gave me the best rate. When they came out, he ran my card for almost 1 dollar more a gallon than I had been quoted. I did not catch it until later. After he ran my card he told me they own the Tank. I chuckled because this is actually the second propane company that has told me the same thing. I asked where his paperwork is to prove it and he said it's in the office. Later that weekend, I realized while he was here, he put a lock on my tank. I have requested the paperwork multiple times from AC propane to prove that they own the Tank. I still have yet to receive that. In the meantime, I spoke with the owner Dave and he had told me that since I have the escrow paperwork proving I own the Tank he would not need to go through storage to grab his paperwork And that he would be out to remove the lock. After two no-shows, I called and ended up speaking to his wife who gave me a completely different story. I had told Dave when he comes out to remove the lock. I am happy to provide the escrow paperwork, but I am reluctant to initiate the paper trail as the burden should be on AC propane to prove they own my tank. Also, based on the Yelp reviews, I am reluctant to send them anything that has my information on it. When I mention that to Dave's wife, she told me she does not care about Yelp reviews because it's only people that are upset that post things. So based on their track history with their reviews, apparently they upset quite a lot of people. I still have yet to receive any documentation or proof that they own the Tank. This is the most shady propane company ever! What is funny is if they really did own the tank they expect me to then opt to sign a contract with them. Please stay far away from them and if they claim they own your tank, watch to make sure they do not put a lock on it when they are out to fill it.

Located on the corner of Highway 86 and S Marina Drive, this travel plaza seems to provide everything that a traveler might need -- fuel and diesel Chevron), tons of food choices and ample dining tables (Pizza Hut, Subway, Cinnabon, Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Yogurtland, Jack in the Box, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Imperial County, and Salton 350 Bar), clean restrooms, a general store with travel necessities, and more. What was particularly interesting about this travel stop was seeing the local culture of the large number of ATVers. Virtually every second truck had an off-highway vehicle (OHV) in its bed or on its trailer. Not being local, we're not sure where they were going to ride, but we speculated that a significant number were headed to the Imperial Sand Dunes. These dunes, in southeastern California, stretch over 40 miles long and average 5 miles wide, and are a popular recreation site. While the travel plaza was easy to access, and had everything that you might need, we've rated it as a 4 rather than 5 because of the chaos of the plaza. All of the gas bays were occupied, with all sorts of vehicles vying for a place -- from motorcycles to OHVs to cars to tanker trucks to 18-wheeler. We chose to park "next door" because of the chaos in front of the travel plaza. It also made it easier to re-enter the highway.

What a find! On our…read moreway back to Arizona from Cali (with two toddlers and a dog) we stumbled upon Shelees Travel Center and couldn't have been more pleased with our stop! It's never easy finding a pace to stop on a road trip, but this place has it all. Plenty of gas pumps, a little dog park area, the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen at a gas station, an incredible selection of healthy, salty, sweet, indulgent treats/snacks/food/drinks, and a safe and comfortable place for our whole family to get out of the car and stretch our legs. Shelees is easy to get to right off the freeway, can be a long or quick stop depending on your needs and then you're all filled up, refreshed and ready to hit the road again. We will be frequent visitors on our Cali road trips from now on.

If you're going east, don't make a right out of Shelee's because Google maps will have you take the 10 west and flip you back around. Now that we know that, we'll probably stop by this exit again during our road trips out of CA. The facilities are really clean and they have a gourmet coffee shop inside. I loved my mocha latte!
