I arrived at eight on a Tuesday morning without an appointment. We generally use the Solvang location but I had to be in Santa Barbara for another appointment and figured this would be convenient. The waiting room was full and there were four young women behind the desk loudly discussing what they had eaten that weekend. An elderly man inquired as to when he could do his urine test and the receptionist loudly rebuked him for not telling her he was only there for a urine test. So shaming and unprofessional. When my turn came I went back with the tech who was so surly she couldn't be bothered to say good morning, what arm do you want to use, get ready for a prick, etc. she jabbed the needle in so hard that I'm still very busied two days later. I have never even had a mark after a blood draw. Absolutely zero humanity. Also, their restroom for urine samples is in the middle of the waiting room. Awkward, sad, unprofessional. The wait was a while (to be expected) but once I was called back, I was done in 5 minutes for a blood draw. They're a well oiled machine and were kind every step of the way! I set an appointment online (which is ABSOLUTELY the way to go), and I was in the chair in no time. I was nervous to get my blood taken, but I was paired with Sienna who was incredible. Lab in carp is severely understaffed, took my 100 yr old mother in for pre op testing and waited over an hour.

Before COVID they were excellent. Rarely a wait. But then they closed the office near Costco. They did nothing to add to the other facilities. It is impossible to make a reservation for the morning for a fasting blood draw. They are booked for weeks or even months in advance. Useless if you have to meet a deadline. If you go to any of the Santa Barbara offices you will end up waiting at least an hour. I was at the office near Goleta Cottage Hospital recently on a Tuesday at 9:30AM. The entire waiting area was packed and people were lined up out into the hallway and out to the lobby. The staff told me it is always like that and that all of the offices are the same. Fortunately, the woman drawing my blood was nice and did a good job. But this place is just horrible to deal with now. read more

I actually really love the phlebotomists and couriers and there is never a long wait. However, their billing department is insanely bad. They have on numerous occasions filed my claim incorrectly through insurance. I have tried to correct their most recent error with numerous voicemails, emails and a certified letter but they have not once responded. They sent this bill to collections. I have heard from many of my patients that the same has happened to them. I have filed a complaint through the BBB and have disputed with collections. As a laboratory, they're fine. Phlebotomists are always courteous and professional. Definitely make an appointment or you'll be waiting forever. But their services are overpriced compared to other laboratories. I pay far less at Quest for the same tests. And their billing system is a joke. They have no online account where you can see your tests and bills, as Quest has. (Some tests do show in MyChart, but they're mixed in with other tests from Cottage and Sansum and hard to read.) And while you can pay individual invoices online, you need information from the individual invoice to do it. But much of the time, their invoices never arrive, especially if you sign up for electronic billing. (I suspect their technology team hasn't taken the most basic steps to ensure their emails arrive and don't get marked as spam.) I've asked for paper bills, but I still don't receive them. And when you don't pay that invoice you never received, they immediately send you to a collections agency. No courtesy phone call or anything. And the lady who took my blood -- Indira -- was the BEST I've ever had. It went well. Allow me to describe: Chatty bird I am. I went to Pacific Diagnostic Labs (Carpinteria, CA) for blood test today. One guy, about 50, was in waiting room. Masks were required, so we were wearing them. We talked about that and agreed they're a joke. I said he looked blue collar; a working man. He said yes. For some 15 minutes we passed the time agreeably till he went in for his blood test. Two young ladies run the whole shebang. They both worked computers, reception and phlebotomy. They were busy today. The one who drew my blood said she didn't want to spend years in school, so went to a 3-week phlebotomy trade school. I congratulated her on the practicality and said I thought I wasted a lot of time k-12 + 4 college. For generations we've been told this is essential, and in fact anything less, is nearly unacceptable. She and I hit it off down the line. Another guy about 65 came in not wearing a mask. One of the ladies gave him one. Neither lady seemed to mind I kept mine down and or pulled away from my face. That guy said he moved here in 1980 from Wisconsin. He went to SBCC in 1980 to learn industrial scuba work, which had such a program at the time. He already enjoyed commercial and recreational scuba. He said those in the industrial trade talked him out of it. Said he'd be in a military like atmosphere, probably in the North Sea or Gulf of Mexico. This guy was as tough, or tougher than me, when it came to being a rebel, covid and otherwise. Another 15 minutes flew by enjoying one another's company. The first guy walked out with bandages on both arms. Finally, my turn for blood draw with the aforementioned lady. She took quite a few vials. When the right arm stopped flowing, she bled the left. I have always loved this location, they open early at 6:30 a.m. the wait time is usually very short and the quality of the phlebotomists has been great for the last 5 years. I had a blood draw today and literally could not feel the needle, of course I don't watch! If you can't do a weekday appointment I think they're open on Saturdays early. Once grumpy old lady was helped, I was called, some other lady tried to zoom past me saying she was first. Office lady just smiled. I recently made an appointment at the Oxnard clinic for 1:00 PM. I was in and out in 10 minutes. I used to use the other guys but will switch over to Pacific. My experience was great. Had a test for intestinal infection and other symptoms. They said the tests were negative. They misdiagnosed me. Then they demand a payment. Another test was done by different Laboratory and they found a lot wrong. Doctor said it could of caused death because they diagnosed incorrectly. This is a bad testing Laboratory. read more

I have had to get lots of bloodwork done here prior to and during my first pregnancy. The staff are always very attentive, even when it's busy. I don't like needles so can't watch when they draw my blood. They are quick and pain free when they work on me. They were even able to quickly turn results from a blood draw on Thursday evening in time for a procedure I needed done the afternoon of the next day. read more

I had a covid test scheduled. Not because I had any symptoms, but because it was a routine test prior to surgery. I also need labs done for a surgery I had just had two months prior. Because the covid test was scheduled they would not make me an appt for my labs. The order for the covid test clearly showed it was a pre surgery routine test. So I had to reschedule my Dr appt since I had no labs and wait to get my covid test done. After the results came back negative they scheduled me an appt one week out after explaining what led up to this and the urgency now of getting my labs done for this appt. Today was appt day. I called @ 8am to confirm if the appt time was 11 or 11:30 am only to be told I had no appt scheduled and would I like to make one. Again explaining the urgency and what led up to today.... I was then told that I could just walk in and an appt was not even necessary. Are you friggen kidding me....... I could have walked in last week with no appt! read more

I was sent by my doctor to get lab work done a Quest Diagnostics. I found myself close to cottage Hospital and Pacific diagnostics was closer. So I made the mistake of going in there to get my blood work. Pacific diagnostics charge me $850, my doctor informed me at our follow up I would've only been charge $250 at Quest. Will not be going back. Feel completely ripped off off. Wish I would have checked Yelp before walking on the door. Looks like financially gouging people is normal. read more

Chronically understaffed. One person at the Montecito office again today. I showed up at 8:40 AM, and left at 10:30. Without being seen. The loan tech was STRESSED. There were 10 plus folks waiting, some outside as the waiting room was too small to hold us all. Was told I was next several times, but folks w appointments kept showing up, and so I was repeatedly pushed back. I finally left. PDL wasted my morning. CEOs at PCD, you could staff up easier if you pay your techs a living WAGE. Your workers would be happy, grateful, and living decent lives, and your patients ( maybe your own family) would cease suffering from the results of your wage tightness corporate greed. Your patients are suffering. There was an elderly fasting lady pacing the sidewalk waiting for her turn. She could have fainted. Fix this. The lab decided to send the unpaid bill directly to a collection agency for my daughter's tests before trying to contact her via email, phone or my address, which they have. They did this twice now. They never sent it to the insurance company and I am still dealing with calls from a collection agency months later. Their online system is so bad, that you can't even update basic information for address, insurance, etc. which is resulting in huge headaches for us. I have been trying to call their billing departments and no one is ever picking up the phone there either. Use a different lab if you can. This is unacceptable. read more

Super easy to make an appointment either online or over the phone. In and out so fast! I passed out cause of my huge fear of blood and needles. The staff acted amazing!! Made sure I got to lay down, ice packs to cool my body, brought me water and moved my items for me!! Even with passing out I was in and out in 10 minutes. !!! Highly recommend for people who are scared of needles to tell front desk that you would like to lay down before getting blood drawn. 10/10 :)!! read more

This place needs an Investigative audit done! - I walked in and asked how much the tests would be that my doctor ordered they told me $280. I said that's fine and paid on the spot. (have my receipt and everything) About a month later I get a bill for $790. Both the bill and the paid receipt have the test Itemized out. These are the same test on the bill as the receipt only the bill the items are around 3X the cost. Based on some of these other reviews it seems like I am not the only one to have issues with there billing. Kinda seems like something criminal is going on here. Now I have to fight this. read more
