I originally came to see if they could help me remake my grandmothers ring. While there I had them resize my engagement ring. The bottom diameter of the ring is now much thinner than the sides of the ring so it seems misshapen. I brought the ring back to see if they would correct it and they basically told me too bad, the work was done quickly verses having to send it off so that's how it looks. If I knew I was trading quality work for having my ring back quickly I wouldn't have had it resized with them. We brought the ring too another jeweler (the wedding ring shop in town) and they said not only was the job done very poorly they couldn't believe the shop didn't offer to correct it. Obviously won't be trusting them with my grandmothers ring now. read more

It is not common for me to leave such a low rating for any business as I always try to find redeeming qualities everywhere. However, the rating goes hand in hand with my experience. I should share before releasing this review to the community that I have worked for both Bernard Hurtig at the Hilton and Michael Parker of Michael's as a pearl, diamond and watch specialist. I know jewelry but more importantly, I know work ETHIC and CUSTOMER SERVICE. I know how to represent the company I work for in a professional and polished manner. ANY person in a sales position should know the basics of the two and Pacific Diamond did not deliver either. Very embarrassing for the owner who is probably a decent gentleman from what I've heard. The woman who helped me (for the sake of grace I shall not name her unless asked to do so by the owner), complained the entire time I was there about her hangover... !!! Seriously?!?! I came in for two reasons: first, to sell my old unused jewelery and second, to find future hubby's wedding band. I had heard that their rates for used gold was fair and was very interested in seeing their inventory. I won't make that mistake twice. It was a Saturday, and upon walking in I was greeted by a lovely lady who unfortunately passed me on to another to help me with the gold buy prior to my searching for a wedding band. She was clearly not fit to service anyone and when it came my turn she preceded to share about her alcoholic adventure the night before... don't get me wrong, I'm all for "bonding" with the customer but she was rude, crude and unprofessional- talking about her hangover and cursing at the computer and her inability to type and the computer's and Web page's inability to respond. So- after some colorful language and frustration- she called her colleague to help RETYPE the info. This colleague walked out BAREFOOT and didn't even say hello!! While I am not against "casual behavior", this seemed eccentric and exaggerated for a 'fine jewelry' locale. I have never experienced such poor presentation and customer service from a place that deems itself a high-end, high-quality diamond and jewelry shop. I was so baffled by the misrepresentation that when the gold buy was over I just wanted to leave. I felt so cheap being there. It was so awkward!! I decided I would spend my money elsewhere where I felt VALUED as a customer so I went with KD Jewelers instead... high quality diamonds and impeccable service. ***NOTE TO THE OWNER: Make sure your employees don't discuss the gravity of their hangovers with customers and PLEASE provide them with proper footwear! It is known that workers comp is a real pain to pay out if any of them hurt themselves at work -in this case- by tripping over their own ego and unprofessionalism. It is with heartfelt gratitude that I write this review. Most people buy a diamond to start their lives, this story is different. It's about how a diamond signifies the final solemn vow, "till death do us part." Three months after my mom's terminal cancer diagnosis, we realized my mom would be taking a long journey soon. Too soon. Due to a dishonest jeweler, my mom was without her wedding ring, the symbol of 35 years of marriage. My dad's wish was to put her dream ring on her finger. However, time was not on our side as she had little time left to live. We first met Laurie Tamai of Pacific Diamond on Saturday, June 13th. Laurie was amazing. She was empathetic, caring, and devoted to helping make their dreams come true. As a widow herself, she understood the importance of this ring. She came in on her days off to meet with my mom who could only venture out on rare occasions. She understood when mom arrived in the store only to quickly go back to the car to head home due to her illness. She consoled my dad as he shed tears. She rang the bell for us at the Valley of the Temples. On Friday, June 19th, my mom finally decided on her specific diamond and custom setting but her request was not without its challenges. Laurie searched and found her diamond in Belgium. She also contacted Uneek, a jeweler in LA, to customize a ring for her. Uneek empathized with the situation and made it their first priority, expediting the custom ring, staying open past business hours to finalize the CAD drawing that had numerous iterations. I'm forever grateful to their dedication and hard work. It was then made and shipped in 4 days. As for the diamond, it was due in on Friday but was held up at a California FedEx station. It wasn't going to arrive till Monday which we feared may have been too late. Laurie called a FedEx manager who put the parcel on a flight to Honolulu, landing at 7:30pm on Saturday. Laurie's friend, Brian, works for FedEx, and he personally retrieved the parcel. Laurie met him at FedEx and drove to the shop. Laurie called jeweler, David Crisp, of 3D Designs, to come in and set the diamond. Laurie, David, my dad, and I, met at the store at 8:45 on Saturday evening. We watched David set the diamond in the ring, videotaping the process so we could share it with her. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you Laurie, Brian, and David for helping to fulfill my mom's dying wish and to help put a smile on my dad's face during this most difficult time. There were only a few businesses in my life where I have felt beyond comfortable and welcome right from the beginning and this place was one of them :) Laurie and Suzie were an absolute delight and I can't wait to come back! These ladies were so professional, friendly and funny that my boyfriend and I stayed much longer than we though we would. We came in to get the batteries changed on two of his watches and were so surprised by how quickly everything was done (and at a great price!), but we also had a wonderful time at the store with these awesome ladies. Came here a few weeks ago to get my watch resized. I had called that day asking how much it would cost and was told it would only be $5. When I went in the lady who helped me got the job done but it seemed as if I was bothering her because she had to fix it (only) twice as it wouldn't fit properly. I was pleased with the selection and our choice of a two carat round I got to choose my setting and one of the most awesome thing about my ring was the hinged option because I have arthritis but Laurie was the most friendly and personable salesperson I've had help me in a long time and not just she wanted to sale me something since my purchase I've gone back to clean or have other things done. I've been to this store twice- once in September and once in November. Both times I asked for estimates to replace a diamond on my wife's ring and they have yet to respond to my inquiry. I was told they had to look it up and see what they could find to match and both times I got nothing in response. I even called to check on it and they seemed like they had no idea what I was talking about. I had an amazing experience buying something special for myself. You know, one of those days when you just feel like you need a pick me up. I went to this shopping center to pick up something from the make up shop. I wandered into the hardware store then walked into this jewelry shop. It was the perfect spot to lift my spirits. I was greeted by two ladies. They offered me a cup of coffee, yum! The store was a little busy, but ensured me they would help me in a few minutes. While browsing, I remembered that I had a ring that I wanted to replace a diamond that fell out. I had very little knowledge about diamonds, Laurie was very patient with me, took the time to explain the difference between all the stones I was looking at. I went into Pacific Diamond Waimalu today hoping to get my rings cleaned. I had not purchased the rings from them so I wasn't sure. I was greeted with a warm friendly hello. While the woman cleaned my ring I was offered coffee, tea or water. I was able to pick from 9 different types of free coffee-exciting! The woman noticed I was wearing Pandora jewelry. She mentioned that the Christmas collection for Pandora had just arrived and led me to their Pandora department. Where as I love Pandora of course I took a look. We had a great time laughing and talking while I enjoyed my coffee and Laurie sipped her water out of a cute wine glass, lol. It honestly felt like I was shopping with a long time friend selecting my Christmas Pandora. I not only selected Pandora charms for myself, but for several of my friends. When we walked to her desk so we could sit down and ring up my purchase I was introduced to the cutest little dog. He was so chill. I love dogs, he was a joy. This place is an absolute joke. I called before going there, asked if they do appraisals, was told yes. Asked if I had to make an appointment-no, and confirmed they closed at 5 pm. Upon arrival, the "buyer" was too busy on the telephone to acknowledge me. I politely waited till she was done. She asked what I came here to do, so I said either consign or sell, pending what I would get. She asked what I wanted for it, I said I believed it was worth a couple thousand. She immediately said I don't want it then, don't you have a friend you could sell it to? She proceeded to say it's not worth that much, and people go to Tiffany and Chanel to walk around with the blue (or black) bag. Her next move was to check eBay, in which she tried to lowball what I had! She pulled up the wrong item, I told her, I have the bigger one, and that ones tiny (not even 1 carat worth of diamonds), I have the big star (with over 1 carat of diamonds). Long story short, if I wanted an eBay quote, I would look it up on my computer myself! This place is a complete joke. They claim to give appraisals and quotes, but if you don't accept their lowball offers from the get go, they won't do a thing for you! Don't waste your time here.
