Our home in the Saratoga foothills is 27 years old and the roof is 27 years old. It had accumulated years of dirt, leaves and other air borne contaminants as well as fungus and other organic growth. It needed to be cleaned and rejuvenated. I called a variety of roof cleaning services expecting to get an estimate for a power wash. I thought that would do the trick. When I contacted Eric at Pacific Exterior, he proceeded to explain the differences between doing a "wash" and a proper reconditioning of the roof. With the reconditioning I would get all the fungus and other contaminants removed, broken tiles would be repaired and I would get a warrantee covering their work. The estimate was more than what the "washing" companies had given me but I considered the considerable added value that Eric offered over a simple "cleaning". It was clear that Eric knew his business, knew roofs and how best to recondition them. So I chose to work with Pacific Exterior. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The roof was a complex and large job. His team spent a number of days on the roof scrubbing, scraping and repairing. When done, the roof looked brand new. Although the estimate to "clean" the roof from Pacific Exterior was the most expensive of the estimates I received, it was, by far, the best job I could have wanted. It was well worth the expense and, in fact, given the quality of the work and its appearance, was really a bargain. Pacific Exterior is a textbook case of getting what you pay for. We recently bought a home in Scotts Valley that's situated in the redwoods; it gets little sun. The roof was pretty much covered in moss. I didn't know there was a business that specialized in roof (among other) cleaning, but Pacific Exterior seemed like exactly what I was looking for. Eric responded to my email inquiry quickly, and came out to take a look and give an estimate. Eric explained that the method his company uses is different than others, in that they not only treat the moss so that it won't come back, but they don't pressure-wash; their process is much easier on the surface being cleaned. He seemed to really know his stuff, so we set an appointment. Eric and crew showed up on time, did a killer job on the roof, balconies, railing, and some concrete and pavers in the back yard that I also requested. Everything looks like new. When I first contacted Eric, I left a voicemail and he returned my call promptly...while he was on vacation-in London, England. I explained that my home owners insurance company had sent someone out for a drive by inspection of my property. The inspector determined there were a couple of concerns including "excessive moss" on the roof and if not remedied they could decline renewing my policy. I had spoken with a couple of roofers, one of them referred Eric (instead of replacing my roof with at least 5 more years of life in it). While I had a conversation with the insurance company explaining I live in a temperate rain forest and moss in the winter isn't unusual, I decided that if this was effective, they could do another drive by and be satisfied. The job was completed in one day and it looks like a new roof! They cleaned the area around my home and it actually looks better than when they started. Eric and his crew recently finished their usual outstanding job of cleaning my tile roof and washing of the exterior of our windows. Our large and multifaceted is roof a challenging situation under a huge pine tree where pine needles accumulate and pine cones fall and break tiles. We have used Eric for many years, since he can always be relied upon to efficiently do whatever is needed to put everything in tiptop shape. And he professionally includes additional ad hoc tasks like cleaning stucco walls and removing moss and lichen from trellises as needed. Pacific Exterior has helped us in January of 2020 by doing an absolutely fabulous job eliminating all of the mold from our asphalt shingled roof after years of neglect. As a result, now, the 30 year old roof looks like new. In addition, they returned in April to eliminate any mold on our Carmel Valley Stone patio which was not only losing its color, but was also becoming a safety hazard after any rain. Very thorough. Eric and one other gentleman cleaned my roof (concrete tiles) using the soft wash method. The roof was larger and steeper than Eric expected from the online Google view of my home. However, he honored the quoted price. Because of the steepness of the roof, all work was done on ladders, which I prefer, because the concrete tiles are easily broken. They were here a little over 10 hours to complete the job. Will use them again and recommend to others. read more
