I was east of Puyallup on a Saturday morning and thought, "Hey, I'm going to find a bakery I've…read morenever been to!". A quick search found Fika, very promising ratings and I'm partial to Swedish baked goods since I spend time in Sweden every year. Fika is located inside Farm12, a huge complex that even contains a school so, why not a coffee shop? When I arrived, the line was a good 30 feet out the door. Even more promising. After 20 minutes, I made it inside and got to look at the extensive selection of pastries and more. All of them looked pretty good though the only nod to Swedish baking was a cardamom bun (and one tart that also contained cardamom). The rest were standard baked goods and a few specialties for the month. Counter staff (Finn) was very helpful. I ordered a Farm12 mocha, almond croissant, and the aforementioned cardamom bun. The mocha was well made, perfect temp, and tasty. The cardamom bun dough was underproofed, dense, and gummy. Good flavor and looks. Almond croissant was buttery and flaky like you'd expect. I personally prefer my almond filling added after baking as it doesn't moisten the inside as much. Overall, this is a good addition to the area, nice people, seems well run, and handy if at the nearby park and trail. Just don't go in thinking Swedish in any way.

Came in to grab some pastries. I really wanted to try their puff pockets. I got the strawberry and…read morethe maple brown sugar. I really enjoyed them. The maple grown sugar had a much bigger air pocket compared to the strawberry where the pastry was pretty flush to the jam inside. Both had great flavor. I couldn't tell you which I preferred since they're so different. I also got a morning bun which was a little hard when not warmed up. It had a little citrus flavor to it. Service was quick for ordering the pastries and no drink. I did come in when there want a line so that definitely helped in the wait time.

We were looking for a bakery to get good whole grain bread. You know the homemade bread with 12…read moregrains and good rye, that is better than the institutionalized bread. So as my go to guide I yelped it! And up popped Kusher Bakery. You know I had to go and today we went there. It's an Eastern European bakery, and grocery store with products from multiple Eastern Europe countries. The selections are very good and then there is the bread baked daily except on Sunday. A bonus is the fact all the fresh baked bread can be sliced for you or you can take it home and slice it yourself. Having this service is great. Dark rye, 12-grain, and others that are....... well too many and all looked delicious. There is fresh baked Lavash, soft and delicious and many of the breads were still warm and fresh. The fresh piroshki! Awesome to say the least, Chicken, Cheese, Cabbage, and Apricot were available and hot. Look you can go to the other market on 70th and get very good stuff and pay quite a lot more, or go to Kusher and get a better selection and pay reasonable prices. Yes it is smaller but bigger is not always better and having this small place is a positive. For me Kusher wins hands down. So go, look around and get some awesome stuff.

She makes beautiful cakes!…read more Here was my problem: We were having a small 75th birthday party for my grandma - I was originally expecting about 15 people. I couldn't find a baker who would make something!! Several places (the ones that either actually answered the phone or returned a call) very snootily told me "we don't DO cakes that small." WTF...if I'm willing to pay, you should care less how big it is! Jacqui was prefectly nice and helpful. I had probably spent hours looking at different cake pictures to get an idea of what I might want, I sort of explained to her what I might want, and she had this great idea which was different than what I had thought about, but after thinking it over for a day or so, I thought her idea would be amazing and it was! My grandma almost cried when she saw her beautiful cake. It was a white basket with light pink roses. The actual cake was delicious. It was chocolate cake - the actual cake was dense yet melty and flaky, I'm not explaining it right, it was just a perfect cake texture! We had a butter cream between the three layers and fondant to make the "basket" texture. She did pink sugar roses - they were perfect and my grandmother LOVED it!! OH yeah, the fondant did taste good. Props to a nice lady making a delicious, beautiful cake!

We decided on a custom option lemon blueberry cake with raspberry swirl and buttercream frosting. It was as delicious as it sounds! And the price was very reasonable.
