This place is run like an assembly line of patients. My insurance changed and so I had to find a new annual eye exam place and gave them a try since all the other negative reviews seemed solely on the purchase of frames & I order them online. They bug you about uploading you ID ahead of time and if you don't, you can't confirm the appointment online. My insurance covers 100% of my exam but only $ 10 of retinal scan. I was told by multiple previous providers that the scan doesn't take the place of dilating the eyes but should use in conjunction with other testing. Research is that the scans aren't necessary every year for everyone and different age groups and health conditions require different testing and care. For me, it's acceptable to have the scan about every 3 years and typically would pay $10-$15 out of pocket for them. This place charges $49.95 and requires it if you want an appointment knowing insurance either doesn't cover it or at max covers only $10 of it! They don't dilate the eyes. You are not able to decline or they will cancel your appointment. I should be able to trust my provider, take recommendations and make informed decisions and not be forced to pay for something that is not necessary!!! The doctor seemed overwhelmed, rushing and bouncing from patient to patient and the cleanliness wasn't great. They just wiped the machine withe a cloth from his pocket, I don't know if it was cleaned in between with a sanitizer or not. I felt like I got scammed when I left and won't be back. read more

The optometrist there is really nice. The office staff was not as professional. I heard them talking badly about other patients and then they were really rude to my husband and made odd/uncomfortable comments about his medical history that wasn't even related to his eyes. It is really easy to make an appointment online and they had many appointments available. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but the office staff could use a lesson in discretion and compassion towards patients. read more

I should have followed my intuition and not utilized this company. I purchased two pair of Ray Ban eyeglasses and paid over $1000.00 even after using my insurance in Dec 2020. I started wearing the second pair of glasses and lost two screws that hold the side arm and "Ray Ban" adornment on and went back to the optical shop this weekend, only to be the warranty ran out Dec 21, 2021. I was shocked, an optical shop who does not have additonal screws for the glasses they sale? Again, I was skeptical in the beginning, but not being able to assist me even after paying for a warranty was even worse. Had I known the screws would come out so easily I would not have even purchased them. Shortly thereafter, I went to COSTCO and although I did not purchase my glasses from them, they assisted me in getting them fixed on-the-spot. I didn't hear a whole lof of excuses. When it comes to my vision needs I will stick with what has worked in the past and that is giving my money to COSTCO who is definitely more customer oriented. argh. here we go again. I had an incident with my glasses. the incident was mentally traumatic to me but only mildly scratched my 2.5 year old glasses. since they were old and I was overdue for an eye exam I made a run at getting in for an eye exam and was given a 7:00 appointment after they close at 6:00. the optometrist stated he already had a late appointment at closing so one more thereafter wasn't a big deal. I took the appointment and continued to call around. I ended up getting the same guy on the phone at a different number. this gentlemen's level of caring about what he does should warrant a much higher star rating. he asked me to come right in and he'd fit me in between other appointments. this guy just isn't getting paid enough. he got me in and taken care of right when the place opened up. I really wish I could give a higher star rating but the sales floor trashed all his good work. here's where it goes south. I had a pair of glasses I really liked and wanted to get something similar so that they'd have that nice familiar feel. somehow, my insurance was bypassed and the saleslady wanted to just outright sell me the glasses she showed me. I'm just a tiny bit confused by this. the frames I actually wanted were right there on the shelf about 3 feet away. it all worked out in the end. I got the frames I REALLY wanted with the new lenses setup with the right prescriptions and options WITH my insurance being properly used. just a bit too much.... drama? read more

So, I was hesitant to come here after reading the negative reviews here. I came here anyway because there aren't a ton of options in town that take my insurance. Anyway, I walked in - middle of the day with no appointment and was immediately assisted by Ty. He was super professional, informative, and helpful without being annoying or pushy. He helped my son pick out a great pair of glasses. My son is very self conscious about wearing glasses and Ty helped him find a pair he will feel good in and actually wear. The glasses altogether were very expensive (714) but I pay for very good insurance so they were at no cost to me. I don't think I could come here without insurance.....too expensive. BUT with that being said I am very happy with everything included with the glasses (scratch resistant, light lenses with no glare, etc). We can't wait for them to come in -we were told 7-10 days. Not bad. We were in and out of the store in about 20 minutes, no kidding. All around a great experience. read more

So I have been going to Pearle vision for sometime for my eye exams. They don't call or send out a bill. So, when going in for another exam they are like oh by the way you know you owe this $$$, UM NO cause you never sent a bill or called me to tell me I owe money, well we don't do that here you should have gotten something from your insurance company saying how much you owe. And you call and call and are on hold for like ever, so I said screw it. I am now in contact with another company that will be taking care of my eyes. The frames were grossly overpriced and I would have to pay for lenses separately. They wanted over $250 after my fairly good eyecare insurance kicked in. I have been wearing glasses my whole life and usually fill up my prescription at my ophthalmologist's office (I know I can rely on the quality). Unfortunately, the selection of frames at my ophthalmologist's office is not great so I shop for the frames in other places. In fact, a few years ago I did buy my designer frame at Pearle Vision in the Capital Mall. Today, however, I did not have a chance even to look at them as an associate approached me immediately and (rather aggressively) inquired if I had a prescription. I responded that I was there just to look at the frames. She repeated her question, I repeated my answer. After which I left as it was obvious that I was not wanted there. If this is a new policy and customers are allowed to look at frames ONLY if they intend to order glasses right away - this is not a smart policy; if the associate was overzealous on her own behalf - this is not a good attitude for a person in customer service. I picked out some frames and Ty helped me with the rest. He was able to add up any extras I wanted, tell me what my ins. would cover and then take off whatever I felt I could live without that went over my coverage. I was sitting waiting for 20 minutes until I asked if I could get them adjusted, she snapped at me and helped other customers who were in AFTER me. She told me that I have to wait another 30 minutes for a 1 minute adjustment if even one minute. This lady was VERY unprofessional and rude... I feel very disrespected. Came in to get my glasses adjusted. Was not greeted at all when I came in, waited 20 minutes until I could finally catch someone and ask for assistance. They said an adjustment would take 1 minute but I would have to wait at least another 10 minutes before I could get assistance- which would mean I would wait a full half hour just for someone to tighten the screws in my glasses. Also, a customer came in after me and they greeted him before me. These ladies that work here that are in appointments with people could easily dismiss themselves for a moment while the customer is trying on a bunch of glasses, to take literally 1 minute to help a different customer get their glasses tightened. He didn't recommend anything that I felt was excessive, and he listened to my concerns about choosing different contact lens options. RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! I suggest going ANYWHERE but here. I would give them zero stars if I could. My fiancé and I went here to get my fiancé some contacts. We were helped immediately by a girl sitting behind the counter. She told us we needed my fiancé's member ID, which wasn't a problem at all! We moved out of the way so the next people in line could be helped. After we got the number we waited... and waited... and waited (still not a problem, as the girl was with another customer). we waited for around 15 minutes when some new customers walked in. All the sudden a man comes out from the back and greets the new customers. He looks at us (we had obviously been waiting to be helped) and asked if we had been helped. We said no. He didn't respond and sat down at the desk next to us and proceeded to help the people who just walked in and completely ignored us. I recently had one of many visits to Olympia's Pearle Vision on the Capital Mall. As usual, the service was excellent. But, Katy is the main reason I'm writing this review. She went so far beyond helpful, indulging my all-over-the-map tastes and anxieties about getting a new pair of glasses. Katy didn't hover. There was no pressure. But, she was happy to answer any question I had. When asked, she help me decide which of 3 frames looked best on me. For several days, I tried on frames, finally finding the perfect one. She also helped figure out the best options for cutting costs to outmatch the measly $150 benefit my health provider offers on top of their pricey frames. I had planned to take the frame to my health care provider for lenses. Katy assured me that if I wasn't happy with the frame, I could return for a refund. Pearle Vision carries a large selection of frames, including high-end brands (Ralph Lauren, Prada, Ray Ban, etc) as well as lower cost frames. A few years ago I purchased 2 pair of beautiful Ralph Lauren frames, using Pearle Vision's 2-for-1 deal. Unhappy with how one of those frames looked on me after getting them home, I was able to return that frame for another, at no additional cost, no questions asked. It's still a great deal. Both glasses have been my favorites for years. Since then, I've been able to get free adjustments and deep-down lens cleanings for free whenever I walk in. I'm talking 6 years of service for the same glasses. I highly recommend Pearle Vision on Capital Mall in Olympia. And, Katy for her excellent service! read more

I recently got my eye exam and prescription somewhere else but they didn't have the same extensive eyewear selection that Pearle has. So I went in on Saturday afternoon (fully prepared for the wait, since everyone else also goes in on Saturday) to order a couple pairs of glasses. It was very busy and there were a lot of demands being placed on each of the employees. While I was browsing, I overheard a lady named Wendy helping another customer order new glasses and she was very patient, considerate, and professional, despite regular interruptions from other associates, customers, and phone calls. Fortunately for me, Wendy ended up being the one who helped me as well. Despite several interruptions, she took time to give me her opinion of the glasses I had selected and expertly walk me through the lens options. Wendy was just as kind and attentive with me as she had been with the previous customer, which I know is a difficult thing to maintain in the midst of all the chaos. The only thing that was problematic is the fact that the doorway is large and kept open and is directly across from the kids play area in the mall. Which, on a Saturday afternoon was extremely loud and distracting. I was only in there for an hour and it was starting to feel overwhelming. I can't imagine working in that environment all day. read more
