I came here looking for nothing in particular. If I wanted something exact, something pacific, maybe I would have found it. But my search did not produce anything. This is actually a very scary grocery store. It's not very well lit and is often deserted. It looks like you just walked into either a war zone or a store that has been closed down for a long time and yet somehow the doors are still open and there's somebody still at the cash register. Quite bizarre actually. Having said that it has its own little charm. There really isn't anywhere else like this. It's so Milwaukee. I hope they're making enough money to stay open. After just learning that there was a Pacific Produce on the north side I remembered the great banh mi place in the south side location So I went over to see if I could get one. The stores first impression was dim and dingy with pallets and boxes just stacked in random places in the isles which you have to walk around. It seemed that everywhere I went stacks of stuff like a hoarders wet dream, never noticed this from other stores. The whole store is dimly lit compared to other stores and it smells like a dumpster. There is a big fresh and frozen meat section and the frozen dumplings/other Asian foods were in rows of freezers. I didn't check out the whole place really well because I was looking for a banh mi so I headed to the restaurant which had plenty of tables that had not been cleared from previous eaters. The hot table was kind of pathetic compared to next door and the woman says no sandwiches here so I went next door for the Pho which I like. There is a bubble tea shop that shares the restaurant space, its dimly lit like the rest of the place and who wants to eat in a dim lit restaurant. I really don't think I could I could shop or eat here with piece of mind. Overall I was not impressed with the restaurant or the store it self and not because I didn't find a sandwich but of how it generally looks dark and dingy, I want to shop In a clean and bright places. read more

Pacific Produce is an interesting place. It's fantastic if you're looking for specialty Asian ingredients you may not be able to find anywhere else in Milwaukee. I've been looking for Enoki mushrooms for a couple of months with no luck but found them easily here (and for 99 cents!). However, there are a few drawbacks to the store... It's freezing. Bring/wear something warm, like a winter jacket, or else you won't last more than 5 minutes. The cashiers were all wearing winter jackets with their hoods up. Things seem disorganized. Yes, the produce is all together, the noodles are mostly in one aisle, as are the dried mushrooms, etc...but you will probably have to look around for quite a while to find certain things. We didn't see any signage indicating which aisles had which items, so it was trial and error. No employees ever approached us or asked if we needed assistance. Give yourself enough time to look around, especially if it's your first visit. It was cool to browse the shelves in general. They have a lot of fun candy/sweets. The prices are fair, and in some cases much less expensive than for instance a Pick 'n Save. Make sure you check the expiration dates on the products, as other reviewers mentioned. Based on what I saw, I would personally avoid purchasing meat here. When we went yesterday, there was a leak in the roof(?) and a large bin of water being collected in the middle of an aisle, which was really off-putting and definitely didn't seem sanitary. Maybe not a normal occurrence, but still. All said and done, if you're looking for specialty Asian ingredients in Milwaukee, this is your place. read more

This is the second new location it's still expanding. The seafood department with live fresh water tanks for fish and growing sub divided building within. With great selection for all types of groceries and cooking supplies. The Guarantee bank inside was not so great for my needs. I prefer the main location on Brown deer and GB ave. This whole store is extra cool, so bring a jacket even in the spring and fall. Some of the Asian bakery comes fresh from Chicago so save yourself a trip and check here first. Many of the Asian styled grocery stores have a bad reputation of having product past the good by date or use by date. I'm not saying that the food becomes poisonous or explosive or degrades dramatically but just be aware. Lots of the preserved foods last way past the dates for example. Honey, fish sauce, soy sauce, hard dry noodles. Salted dried shrimp, fish, squid. Preserved plums, radish. Dried mushrooms can be stored properly in a cool dark place. Straight disgusting. Expired canned goods & expired frozen foods. Frozen food without packaging or expiration dates. Random pallets of stuff stacked in the middle of aisles. (Not goods for sale, but random stock) Sketchy produce - some looked okay, other stuff looked really bad. Dimly lit store with filthy floors and overpriced goods ($8 for a tiny bottle of Tide?) So I can deal with most of this....but clearly someone (or several someone's) was smoking in the store because the whole back half of the place reeked of it. And the guy in the meat department was texting with gloves on, and went right back to cutting/packaging without changing them. Never, EVER again - I filed a health department complaint for the first time ever, so thanks for that Pacific Produce. read more

Pacific Produce, located at 8340 W Appleton Ave. Milwaukee, WI, has terrible customer service! I bought a whole jack fruit for $21.00. After I cut it open I discovered that it was rotten and rancid. When I brought it back to the store the next day with my receipt, the rude manager refused to allow me to return or exchange it. He stated that It had been cut open and he couldn't resell it. I told him I wouldn't have known it was rotten without cutting it open and I asked him why would he want to resell expired produce? His opinion was that there was nothing wrong with the jack fruit. I then told him there were no signs posted inside or outside the store stating that cut produce is not refundable. After hearing my valid arguments, he stated that he didn't have time to put signs all over the store or argue with me and he still refused to allow me to return or exchange the rotten jack fruit. I have never shopped at a grocery store that did not allow returns or exchanges and I will never shop at Pacific Produce again! read more

So much variety of Asian products and a wide selection of produce. Very inexpensive and sure makes for a a great field trip for a cultural experience. Hubby and i like coming here to try out new products and buy ingredients to our diverse recipes. The stores is usually empty so we don't feel rushed to leave an aisle and like taking our time exploring all the different items. There is also a Boba tea station in the store. My favorite find so far has been Chili oils! Add it to many of my dishes! read more

This is the second location for this Asian Grocery Store, something gaining in popularity around the Milwaukee area. I like Pacific Produce for its huge selection & abundance of things I can't read. The aisles well stocked with products from China, Japan, Korea, Viet Nam, Philippines & else where, they are supplemented by some usual American brand names too.Tons of amazing produce, some familiar offerings & others not so familiar from Asia. Don't be deceived by the dark exterior & the lack of vehicles in the large parking lot. The store is open 7 days a week from 9am till 9pm. I've never seen more than 20 customers during each of my half dozen visits. The store has an in-house restaurant with plenty of seating. I plan to give it a try soon. I was a big fan of the original Pacific Produce and I am a big fan of this Pacific Produce. At first you look at your google maps and you think about whether it is worth it. Well, it is. I like PP for it's already peeled garlic, it's abundance of things I can not read, and the food that I make with the stuff I get from Pacific Produce - mainly papaya salad and kimchi. I think this place used to be something else and then changed owners. I was here over Thanksgiving weekend and the owners told us that they had been open for less than a week. It was clear that they were still in a transitional stage. Lots of Asian specialty items. It's not quite a 99 Ranch, but it's on its way to being one with clean and brightly lit aisles. We dined at their deli that served the Hmong staple of pho, sticky rice, laab, sausage and papaya salad. I ordered the sticky rice and sausage and my friend ordered the pho. It was so much food. The proportions were ridiculous compared to the prices, and the food was very tasty. I do wish it had more variety in its grocery store. A lot of the shelves had the same items and it did feel a little like they had too many shelves to fill so they just put the same items up. Having had an enjoyable lunch at the Athens Restaurant Monday, my friend John the Certified Italian Chef and I were soon passing the recently opened Pacific Produce Market at Appleton and Hampton. This was of course a must stop for any Chef. Pulling into the large parking lot that decades ago was a Kohl's Department Store and later an amazing "Everything 99 Cents" that I used to visit frequently, it had been vacant for years except for the small Guaranty Bank. Months ago it reopened as this primarily Asian Grocery Store, something gaining in popularity around Milwaukee. Pulling up as I last remembered its interior more than a decade ago I knew they had thousands of square feet of display space to fill. Walking in with John, he remarked almost immediately, "Look at all this amazing produce!" Leave it to the Chef, who on Easter had displayed his amazing talents for his family preparing a spectacular pork and lamb dinner. He was excited! For a few minutes it seemed John was like a "chef in a full-kitchen" carefully examining not only familiar produce offerings but those from Asia as well. "Look at all this" as we turned down a aisle filled with dozens of types of noodles," he remarked. Strolling around the store for nearly 25 minutes we knew we would be back. Going down the aisles well stocked with Asian products from China, Japan, Korea, Viet Nam, the Philippines and else where, they were supplemented by the usual American brand names. Grabbing a few items to experiment with this week, John looked like he now couldn't wait to get home, so we headed for the checkout. Pacific Produce is worth a visit. They even have a Cafe serving hot Asian specialties and several looked rather tempting. There is also an Asian deli and full service meat department. My spouse and I have gone to the South Milwaukee Pacific Produce for years & were quite excited about the new Northside location, since we're driving from Appleton. The store seems much more organized than its southern counterpart, with better displays of the produce. The aisles seem wider, and while the organization of the store is different, the Asian products we were looking for were all there. This store is also more welcoming of the surrounding neighborhood, so it is a combination Asian/American grocery store. We bought pork ribs at a very good price, along with the duck hearts. Saw BBQ ribs & rotisserie chicken in the deli. read more

On 9/21/2018, we were in Milwaukee and wanted to stop in an Asian store and we went to this one on Hampton Avenue. The location was rather very secluded and hard to find. We bought some fresh pork and the fridge wasn't on, no light and no ice. There wasn't anyone around, we found an elderly guy who spoke no English and made sign language to us. We bought about 5 lbs of pork and thought the pork was fresh, but it smelled very bad when my wife cooked. I gave a star because the fact that it existed as store. This establishment should be inspected by USDA or health department for selling rotten/unrefrigerated meat. Most produce sections are dark and no refrigerators running. It's a clean store. They have a good selection of packaged and frozen items. But they have to expand on fresh produce and seafood. The cafeteria had good bubble tea. They are selling ROTTEN CHICKEN in their deli case. Do not buy the whole cooked chickens that are sold for $3.99. I frequent the 27th St. location since I live closer to that one. Took a mini road trip to the north side to check the newer location out, and ended up very disappointed! Since I don't live close enough that it would warrant driving back for a refund, I'm taking a loss. But beyond that I tried contacting the store to let them know that the other chickens they're selling might be rotten too, and I couldn't get through to them to report the problem. None of the phone numbers I could find for any of their stores connect you with anybody. I tried the number printed on the receipt, two different numbers I found on the internet, and I even tried calling the 27th St. location and the original Viet Hoa store and none of those phone numbers work - some just connect you to music but after waiting several minutes no one ever answered. Some of their items are expired or no due date. Be on the lookout. If you buy the "frozen sausages" be careful. Maybe some of them are spoiled when cooked. It tastes "sour". When cooked, it looks kind of burnt in some places and it loses it sausage shape. It doesn't look plump and juicy. No, I did not leave it at room temperature to thaw. I went to return Napa Cabbage because a couple of them were brown and rotted inside. The owner or manager told me that they could not guarantee their cabbage and vegetables, I asked for an exchange at minimum, or refund, but he refused. I bought more than 10 heads of cabbage to make Kimchi. I also recommended this store to my cooking class students in the past. Unfortunately I will not be shopping here any longer. I was excited to find a number of Korean and other Asian spices and ingredients but will buy my cabbage at Sendiks or Pick n Save or other local Asian markets. The customer service is terrible and they seem to only focus on making a profit rather than establishing long term relationships with local customers. I don't even know where to start. I was never fond of this place or any other Asian markets in Milwaukee besides Rhino food market(which I loved) but since Rhino is gone I decided to give this a try. First of all the parking lot is not well kept and the entrance is dirty with garbage overflowing the trash can. The store is really big, from what I know it used to be a Kohls store? Something like that. Anyway, this place is a DUMP!! Obviously the don't have a cleaning team because the floors are nasty and covered with dirt. The bathrooms are disgusting and also not cleaned. For such a huge store they only have 2 checkout lanes??? Dumb. I kid you not, I went here one time in the summer of 2015 can't remember which month and I just went back today and the frozen seafood from my last visit was still there! That's almost a whole year! And I know it's the same fish. These people do not put expiration dates on there food. My mom picked up some chicken feet and pork liver from the meat department and I'm trying to convince her to throw it away because it does NOT look fresh. The produce doesn't seem fresh and there's a strange smell in the store that is terrible. They were supposed to have live fish(farm raised) but there are no fish in the cheap swimming pools they have in there. It's just too much stuff in this store and not enough workers to maintain it.
