    Invoice from Pacific Transmission.

I'm not very knowledgeable about cars, so if a mechanic tells me something is fine, I believe them. As a student working part-time and sharing a car with my girlfriend, saving money for it was challenging. I wasn't picky about the vehicle, just looking for something affordable and fuel-efficient. Unfortunately, my past experiences with cars have been bad, and this one was no exception. I found a listing for a 2004 Honda Accord on Facebook and decided to check it out. The seller, Adrian Garcia, a mechanic at Pacific Transmission, gave me the keys while he was working on another vehicle. Not knowing much about cars, I tried my best to identify any issues. The car had a hard time starting, which I attributed to a key transmitter or battery problem. The remote wouldn't lock the doors, reinforcing this belief. Despite the starting issue, I was ready to test drive it. During the test drive, I noticed several problems: the steering wheel was shaky on the freeway, the car drifted to the right, the check engine light came on, the RPM shot up without the car moving, and it shook when shifting between drive and reverse. Adrian reassured me these were easy fixes or normal for an old car, so I decided to proceed if it passed a smog test. He replaced the O2 sensor, the car passed the smog test after 60 miles, and I finalized the purchase. Adrian agreed to fit me into his schedule for repairs and offered discounts for labor and parts. A few days later, I returned the car for maintenance. Adrian discovered an oil leak and a faulty intake hose, which he hadn't mentioned before. Despite this, I got the repairs done, including replacing the transmission mounts and fixing the AC. I spent more than expected, but hoped for peace of mind. I paid for the repairs in cash before checking out the car and finalized the invoice with Pacific Transmission. Adrian brought the car out and I was about to go back home with it. In the short test drive I took it on, the ongoing RPM and transmission issues were prevalent as well as new warning lights. The vehicle jolted forward at a stop sign and stalled while accelerating. Feeling scammed, I tried to address these problems, but Adrian and his brother insisted they were normal for an old car and safe to drive. I was unsure whether to trust them or not so I suggested for them to take a second look which they did. I returned it to the shop, where they promised to replace the throttle body free of charge if it was faulty. This reassured me, so I left the car there for a few more days. However, Adrian became very unresponsive (which started after I had already gave him money for the repairs), and I didn't get a real response until three days later. When Adrian finally contacted me, he said the car was ready but needed to explain something in person. He told me they couldn't fix the issue and suggested additives for the transmission, which I couldn't afford. With no other option, I accepted their assurance and drove the car home. Since then, I've only driven it twice. On the second drive, it stalled in the middle of the street and jolted forward, almost hitting the car in front of me. Since then, it has been parked in front of my apartment. Today, July 25, 2024, the car wouldn't start, and I'm unsure if it's the battery or something more serious. This experience has been a nightmare, I am still without a working car, and I will never trust a mechanic selling a car again.

Since my truck was out of warranty, I wasn't sure where to turn. I reached out through Yelp and heard back from Ed almost immediately. He had a good idea of what might be wrong and invited me to bring the truck in for an assessment. After inspecting it, he identified damage (caused by rats) to the transmission wiring harness, which had unfortunately caused internal damage. He walked me through everything clearly and provided a very reasonable estimate for a full rebuild. Throughout the entire process, Ed was easy to communicate with, always professional, and genuinely helpful with his advice. What really stood out was how he went above and beyond after the repair. I was told this type damage might be covered under my comprehensive auto insurance. Ed then took the time to work directly with my insurance company--providing detailed documentation and expert insight. Because of his effort and experience, the claim was approved and the repair ended up being fully covered. That level of service is rare these days. I truly appreciate Ed's honesty, professionalism, and follow-through. He did exactly what he said he would do and then some. I wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend him to anyone in need of transmission work.

Their prices are so fair that I genuinely feel like they undercharge and wouldn't at all mind paying more. I first came here after the Toyota dealership told me my timing belt cover was leaking oil and wanted to charge me thousands of dollars. Lol. Came here for a second opinion and was reassured I'll be just fine, just top up oil every now and then. Been coming here ever since for every 5,000 mile maintenance! And to replace my spark plugs! I told my sister to bring her car here too for maintenance. This past weekend, her boyfriend's dad checked her oil level with the dipstick and said the oil was really low. She came back here to double check and turns out he was mistaken; she was totally fine. Truly wonderful people that you can trust without question. Very grateful for all they have done to help us. After reading all the great Yelp reviews about their honesty and fair pricing, I didn't bother getting a second quote. They charged me around $650-$750 for the job. Fast forward to today. The passenger window on the van stopped working, and B C Advance Auto Repair diagnosed it as a bad window regulator and quoted me $375 to replace it. Fortunately, my mom was with me and suggested we get another opinion from her longtime mechanic, Bolsa Auto Repair & Muffler in Westminster. He came to the exact same diagnosis, that the window regulator needed to be replaced, but quoted only $200 for the repair. After seeing a $175 difference for the exact same repair, I wondered what Bolsa Auto Repair & Muffler would have charged for the front brakes and rotors I had done at B C Advance Auto Repair last year. He quoted me $450, about $200-$300 less than what I paid. I'm not saying B C Advance Auto Repair does poor work, but based on my experience, their prices weren't nearly as competitive as I was led to believe from the Yelp reviews. I recommend getting a second quote on any repair, big or small. I would have saved $175 on a relatively minor repair and about $200-$300 on the brake job had I shopped around first.

I was extremely stressed because dealing with vehicle problems was the last thing I wanted on my mind while trying to enjoy my vacation. I spent some time on Yelp reading reviews for several transmission shops before deciding to call Transmission Masters. One of the reasons I chose them was because they've been in business for more than 48 years and had consistently great reviews. I also like reading the one-star reviews because, let's be honest, you really can't please everyone. I just wanted to find an honest and trustworthy shop. I called and spoke with Ron right before closing time. He took the time to listen to everything I was experiencing, explained what he thought the issue could be, and told me to bring the van in the next morning. Their shop opens at 8:00 AM, but when I arrived around 7:45 AM, they were already there working on vehicles. When I walked in, Ron remembered our conversation from the previous day, which immediately made me feel comfortable. He scanned my van but didn't notice anything unusual. He reset my ECM and another setting, and thankfully that solved the problem. What impressed me the most was that Ron didn't charge me a dime for his time or help, even though I genuinely wanted to give him something for helping me out. I drove all the way from Disneyland back home to Northern California without a single issue afterward. Ron, if you happen to read Yelp reviews, I truly want to say THANK YOU for your time, honesty, and knowledge. You helped turn a very stressful situation into a positive experience, and I sincerely appreciate it.
