I also like reading the one-star reviews because, let's be honest, you really can't please everyone. I just wanted to find an honest and trustworthy shop. I called and spoke with Ron right before closing time. He took the time to listen to everything I was experiencing, explained what he thought the issue could be, and told me to bring the van in the next morning. Their shop opens at 8:00 AM, but when I arrived around 7:45 AM, they were already there working on vehicles. When I walked in, Ron remembered our conversation from the previous day, which immediately made me feel comfortable. He scanned my van but didn't notice anything unusual. He reset my ECM and another setting, and thankfully that solved the problem. What impressed me the most was that Ron didn't charge me a dime for his time or help, even though I genuinely wanted to give him something for helping me out. My 2017 Chevy Tahoe decided to die at an intersection with no forward gears. Fearing the worst i had it towed to my regular mechanic. Long story short, they said it was possibly the valve body that need to be replaced and quoted my 1400 to do so. In fact, they said they had to get the part from the dealer and it was non refundable if that wasn't the cause! A quick search brought me to Transmission Masters and after speaking with Ron I decided to have it towed to his shop. It was the right move! It turned out that the valve body needed to be cleaned and the check balls replaced. He completed the work in a few hours and charged me a heck of a lot less of what I was quoted. What an honest man! The rebuilt transmission died with less than 20K miles. It is very disappointing. A word of advice - Yes, a remanufactured transmission costs more but get a remanufactured and not rebuilt. I've learned my (very expensive) lesson. read more

Back story to why Transmission Masters should be your first option: I took my 2020 Promaster Cargo Van 159 WB Hightop Campervan to the dealer for a recall on the breaking system. The dealership mechanic supposedly did a thorough check of the powertrain, motor and all the vitals at the time. After driving the van for awhile I started to see drips underneath the van towards the front. The drips were not constant and there was no puddling. I took it back to the dealer to have it looked at. The dealership said it looked like the transmission seal in the front was leaking and I would need to leave it for 4 days while it waited for their transmission guy to look at it. I decided in that time to take it to another transmission place in Garden Grove. This place told me the seals were leaking and that it would be approx. $1,200 to replace them all and a week to do the work. Why I will go straight to Transmission Masters from now on: I had a friend find Transmission Masters and recommended I take it there for another opinion. I'm glad I did. They are amazing and friendly and do a thorough check before giving a diagnosis. Jesus put the van up on a jack, got underneath and looked at it, opened the hood (the first two above did not even open the hood) looked around to find that the transmission fill plug had been left off and that the transmission fluid had been over filled by the 3/4 of quart. This explained the inconsistent drips and no puddling. The team put if up on the lift and cleaned the area to verify the findings. Jesus also found another plug they happened to have in stock. That was it, no more drips and an hour later it was done. I will be forever grateful to the Transmission Masters team for their honesty and amazing service. Ron was on vacation at the time and his team took care of me and my van with the same kindness and professionalism as if he had been standing there. read more

Excellent transmission Repair - Better than new. I had a 2002 Honda Odyssey - that model year had a known issue with the automatic transmissions. Instead of getting another "badly designed" transmission swapped in, I had Transmission Masters repair my existing transmission with the upgraded parts to fix the issue. This repair was done in 2013, with 73000 miles on vehicle. The transmission performed flawlessly for the following 10 years (additional 55,000 miles), including towing a tent trailer on vacations. Ron is the best he is extremely honest and told me I needed a new sensor a $45.00 part and I didn't need to have my transmission rebuilt. My 2013 Honda Civic emissions warning light went on I took the car to a shady mechanic who said I needed to have my transmission rebuilt I then took it to Transmission Masters for a second opinion they took care of me. I took my 1973 240z here with automatic transmission issues (burnt 3-4 clutch, couldn't shift past 2nd) and was concerned he wouldn't be able to work on my car as it's been engine swapped with an LS1. Thankfully, Ron took my car in and really took care of me. He trusted me enough to let me pick up the car after business hours. This review is going to be a little bit lengthy. Back in March my car started leaking transmission fluid. I took it to my mechanic who told me that I would need to take it to a transmission specialist. I found 4 different places and went for a quote. All places told me that my car would need to have the transmission rebuilt and it would cost $2500 or more to repair. I felt very discouraged, that's a lot of money! so I did nothing, I left my car sitting at my house for over a month. Then I found this place! I was so happy with their 5 star reviews, so I took it to them. They confirmed the leak and quoted me $950 for the repair! (including parts and labor) I was ecstatic, this was so much less then others had quoted me. I finally felt like I had found an honest, trustworthy place. We dropped it off on Tuesday. I confirmed with Manny that if they were to find anything else and it required more money I would be contacted. So today I get a call that my car is ready for pick up. Awesome, because Manny told me it would probably take a week to repair. Turns out it was the torque converter and they replaced it. So I get there, and I'm met by the owner. I believe his name is Ron, he handed me a bill for $1325!! I was completely blown away. I told him that Manny told me it would be $950 unless something additional was found but that he would call and give me a heads up. The owner confirmed this with Manny and they both kind of just looked at each other knowing that he had screwed up...so after Ron and I went back and forth, he agreed to remove some parts from the invoice. So he came back and showed me the new invoice with a new balance of $1204. He took some money off but definitely not enough! At this point my husband told me to just leave it alone and pay. So that's what I did. Ron did not handle this in a professional manner. Honestly I don't even think he apologized once! He even had the nerve to tell me that he could just take back the torque converter he installed. Really? This is how he wanted to make it right?? Luckily I was able to cover the $1200 but it still doesn't make it right. Legally he needed to inform me if the bill would be more then quoted. Oh and the cherry on top was when I got home and carefully looked over the amended invoice, and guess what?! To make it look like he took extra off with the parts, he just added that to the labor. The original invoice had $900 for labor and the amended one with the parts taken off had $950!! He probably didn't even think I would notice. This is not over. I will be reporting him to the better business bureau. I will not let him take advantage of me or anyone else! read more

Unbelievable!!! Ron is absolutely a Master! The transmission of my Lexus was diagnosed by Newport Lexus dealer as "Dead" - although there were two bad solenoids, but was Unrepairable, the entire unit needed to be replaced and would cost about $7,500. The diagnostic along cost me $250. I am glad to find Ron.... It took him less than 5 minutes to diagnose (using a computer without knowing the dealer's info) and to identify the problem solenoids (cost me nothing). He replaced the two faulty parts in less than two hours. The car runs perfectly then. The total cost is about $480.... I came here because my wife's 4X4 Lincoln Navigator was acting up. While I had never noticed then problem she had said the transmission was hitting hard and at times slipping. He identified the problem as possibly more electrical than actually the transmission. He could read the computer which had been intermittently showing the check engine light and finally determined part of the issue could be that there were a could of fuses blown out. He replaced them both, wouldn't accept payment and the truck has been fine since then. Honesty and Integrity is what this shop and the owner stand for.
