I contacted Leon's Transmission Services to check out my 06 F-150 because I was having shuttering issues, I thought it was transmission related. Catherine helped me schedule the drop off, and Ron contacted me a short while later (same day) and let me know the issue was engine related (misfire) and that my transmission was fine. They took a total of 6 weeks to work on our car. The first 3 weeks they had it they said it would be ready everyday and wasn't. There was then something different wrong with the car when it was brought home. Back to the shop it went for another 2.5 weeks which was then under new ownership then saying there was another problem that occurred while it was there. Unless you have weeks on end to drive a rental that you pay for or can live without a car for close to 6 weeks I'd say this place may not be for you! Unless you have all the time in the world and don't need the car for weeks on end and enjoy being strung along I'd find another establishment. read more

2005 Dodge magnum needed a complete rebuild. Car was in the shop for 9 days and Was told 10 maximum. Wish it was sooner but Rick kept his word. Got a call that I also needed to replace a rear main seal. Glad they let me know and didn't just continue the rebuild. Also got a faulty part and ordered another one took another day but that stuff happens with electrical parts. I appreciate the transparency and honestly I felt without being pushed or rushed. Out the door a little over 4k. 2 year warranty or 24k miles. Transmission feels better than when I got the car from the previous owner. Will update accordingly. I opted to pay more with this shop because of the reputation they had. I had multiple quotes from other shops with good reviews that were less money but felt honesty when speaking to Rick. He let me know they will not cut corners like the other shops and replace all parts new. When talking to other shops I felt rushed and like they were going to only fix the minimum and charge me full price. Also good customer service, I would recommend anyone trying to get a proper rebuild and not get taken advantage of from another shop. You get what you pay for! Only thing I am not happy with is my interior is a little oily from mechanics carelessness. My interior has clearly been taken care of and I expect to get it in the same condition I left it in. This happens everywhere and I can't stress enough how nice of a touch it is when plastic is used to cover the seat, steering wheel, and the floor mats. Driving to my sister's on Thanksgiving afternoon, my truck lost power sporadically, dash lights flashing, speedometer flailing around. The next morning I got it to a Costa Mesa garage my nephew recommended. Good guy there, but he was busy. He got to it on Monday, called me in the afternoon , apologized, saying it involved something they couldn't do there, but it was safe to drive. Called Leon's the next day (Tuesday) , talked to Rick, who was up front, told me he was pretty busy. Today (Thursday) Rick called to tell me it wasn't the originally diagnosed problem, just dirty battery terminals not getting voltage to a component. Went in, got my wallet out, and was told there was no charge. Aside from a tire plug, where the manager told me to just tip the guy who did the work, I don't believe I've ever heard 'No charge' from a garage. read more

I own a 2005 Chevy Astro Van, it has 340,000 + miles on it. Yes it has had a total of 3x transmission rebuilds and on its 2nd engine right now. Leon's Transmission completed the last transmission rebuild and did it fast: 24 months later the transmission fluid starting leaking and they honored their warranty, no questions and told me to bring it in to inspect it. They repaired the leaking transmission line as they said it had came lose of over the 2 years. I would 100% recommend them and will go here for my next rebuild if this Astro lasts that long. read more

If you care about your vehicle and expect quality work, don't go here. Do it yourself or go elsewhere. They did sloppy work and damaged the aluminum cases on my transfer case, and didn't replace all the seals like I asked them to. In December 2013, I asked Leon's to replace the chain, rebuild, and reseal the NV 241J transfer case from my 2006 Rubicon. I removed the transfer case myself to make it easier. This was the first time the transfer case had been touched since the Jeep was new. They took a few days longer than originally estimated, and I thought they charged a pretty steep price, but I was hoping for thoroughness and quality work. By December 2018 and only 93k miles later, the transfer case was leaking like a sieve from the shift sector shaft seal. I decided to rebuild it myself. Much to my dismay, I found significant gouges on the aluminum seal surfaces for the input and output seals (see pictures). The input seal in particular needs to be removed with a screw, but it looks like they just jammed a seal pick between the case and seal, permanently notching the case where it needs to have a press-fit seal. Furthermore, based on the rock hard shift sector seal, it seemed like it was the factory original seal and they failed to replace it, hence why it was leaking so badly. I found "Adam 12-30-13" written on the side of the case. Maybe it was Adam or one of his colleagues who doesn't know how to remove seals, and skips replacing seals that are smaller and harder to find. I wonder if they even fully disassembled the transfer case. I guess you can't trust anybody unless you're actually looking over their shoulder. read more

My Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 developed a pin hole leak in the rear Transfer case cover, my local Chevrolet dealer said the part needed was no longer available and I would have to buy a whole new transfer case $ 4300 Ouch, I took it to Neels auto repair in placentia said he did not specialze in this type of repair, he said go to Leons in Garden Grove see Rick, Rick was very knowledgeable and new his stuff, he found a new transfer case cover with the needed new pump parts that damaged the cover , the work done was excellent and Leons saved me Thousands of Dollars and the work was done right. if I know anyone with transmission or 4X4 issues they are the only ones I would recommend ....5 Stars .................. read more

I, like most people, havent had great experiences when dealing with car repairs. whether it be shops overcharging for basic repairs, claiming optional repairs as necessary, cutting corners on necessary ones, poorly communicating what they intend to do and how long it will take, or just having a general attitude of "im the smart mechanic, you're the dumb customer", all are a huge headache. And given that having your primary means of transportation not functioning coupled with the often exorbitant costs of repairs in any situation is stress enough, having to navigate all of this other stuff is really the last thing I and Im sure most anyone else wants to deal with. And this is exactly why I am so glad I found Leon's. Thanks to Rick, Sarah, and the rest of the team I had what I can only imagine is the most painless replacing of a transmission one could possibly experience. I honestly must say I even enjoyed it! my details: My wife's Jetta has 150K miles on it and was having tell tale signs of being in need of a new transmission (clunky shifts, frequently going into "safety mode" ie staying in 2nd gear) I took it to the only repair shop I've come to trust over the years (Irvine Auto Care). They however don't do transmissions and recommended Leons to me. I was nervous to go to a new shop given my previous poor experiences, but if IAC trusts them I was willing to give them a shot. And I can say every interaction from first to last was exceptional. From the moment I walked in, to anytime I called, Sarah was always kind, positive and helpful. Her cheerful attitude truly is a gift! And Rick was equally as fantastic. He without fuss tolerated all my questions over many phone calls and many days despite what im certain is a very busy schedule. He was also very honest and forthright about what I should expect as far as lead time and what the costs might be. He even helped me weigh the pro's and con's of repairing the car vs buying a new one and what additional repairs I might expect over the coming years. Ultimately we concluded that repairing the transmission makes the most sense. The cost for the repair was of course more than I was excited to pay, but it was about 25% less than what I was seeing other's online report, which was relieving. And despite having a niche german transmission and a shop overflowing with jobs, it hardly took more than a week from start to finish. The car now runs like new and if for any reason the transmission has issues it comes with a 2 year warranty. It is now no surprise to me why Leon's is one of the most trusted names, if not the most trusted flat out, in transmission shops in the OC/LA area, operating for more than 60 years and used by the LA fire department for their trucks. Pleasant, professional, honest, and trustworthy crew who do fantastic work for a great price. What more could you ask for? I will be recommending this great team at Leon's up and down to friends and family and will be absolutely taking any future cars here. Honestly wish they did more than transmissions as I'd love to give them more of my business! My boyfriend and I had gone to Leon's transmission to get his transmission fluid replaced. We called before hand where we were told it was free to look at our vehicle and they'd fill up the transmission fluid if it was low for free. In the paper I received it says how the "transmission fluid is full but brown", as the manager then proceeded to mention it wouldn't be worth to change and the only way they'll touch the vehicle is by charging us $3,000+ for a new transmission. We were across the street waiting the whole time watching, and noticed they never lifted our vehicle up for proper inspection. (The truck doesn't have a dip stick, so it would need to be lifted to check properly.) I decided to go to 'One Stop Lighting Wheels & Tires' where they showed me my vehicle had no transmission fluid, and after they changed my transmission fluid my truck ran perfectly fine. No need for a new transmission. This place just saw a younger couple with an older vehicle and tried taking advantage! I HIGHLY don't recommend this scam they consider a business. read more

I took my classic car to get the transmission rebuilt, they Charged me about 3,000$ (priced roughly were other shops were at) , within the two year warranty period I had to take my car back for misc issues 3 separate times, two of the times I had to pay for a tow truck because the car was not drivable. I have a 2012 Ford Raptor that had front differential issues . It would not completely "lock" in to 4WD . Lots of loud noises when driving thru sand and mud . I use my 4WD frequently and need it to work properly . I waited 3 weeks since the repair was finished to write this review to make sure that it is accurate . I've put 1,100 miles on my truck since picking it up , run it thru sand and mud and it work perfectly . Rick maintained great communication throughout the entire job keeping me informed of progress . The most impressive part of my experience was that the least expensive parts in my differential were the ones that needed to be replaced . A dishonest shop could have jacked my bill thru the roof . I took in my 2010 Ford Focus because it had some kind of transmission problem. I had the transmission replaced by Leon's and it was 2k miles over warranty. I was stressed.
