[Posted on Google as well] I don't like to writing reviews less than 5 stars but here we are. I've been to Hybrid911 at least twice before and my partner has brought in their hybrid a few times as well. Every time was a great experience, which is why I didn't hesitate to have my car towed here when it stopped on the freeway last Tuesday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Valentin was very courteous about confirming multiple times that someone will be on site to receive the vehicle late in the evening, which my tow guy was nervous about. That was definitely a plus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But from there, it sort of fell off. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the next day around opening time, to inquire if someone's taken a look and if there's an estimate. Valentin said that he'll get to it later today, I asked what time -- he said maybe 4pm. Okay, fair, I'm sure there are other cars ahead of me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called after 4pm and he said he wasn't able to get to it. I wouldn't necessarily be bothered by this, but in the initial call, he sounded really vague and I had to get him to give me a timeframe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So after seeing that my car wasn't looked at, it seemed like he didn't really intend to look at it that day. He said he'll look at it the next day, Thursday @ 10am. Sure enough, he called late morning letting me know the cost, the issue (fuse), and that he had placed the an order for the part, which would arrive on Saturday. That meant I wasn't getting my car until next week. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also asked if he had checked the 12v battery as my tow guy said it was below the voltage necessary. He said he would take a look and let me know. I never heard back from him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Monday, I get a call from Erik saying the car is ready. I asked if he or someone else checked the 12v battery -- it was clear no one checked the battery. He said it would cost $300 to replace the 12v or I could go to an Autozone and get them to look at it. That confused me -- why would I go somewhere else...? Idk about you, but I specifically choose mom and pop joints because I trust them more than big chains. I asked him to check and I had to explain that I didn't to get a ride there and then have an issue with the 12v. Anyway, Erik said he would check and give me a call. He called me back and he said it was fine, and I wouldn't need to replace the 12v, which was great news. But it did make me a little uneasy that it was not checked, when I had communicated there was an issue with it when I had it towed. I went to pick up the car today, Monday (6 days total, not counting Tuesday since car arrived at the shop at end of day). The total was $370 for labor and $100 for the fuse. He actually gave me the old part which was cool, and while I was at the shop, I looked up the part and saw it was much cheaper than $100. I asked about the cost difference, and his response was that they had to pay taxes on parts at the end of the year... which, to me, did not explain the $40-$70 difference. Plus he touted that they have a reseller permit as an explanation for the cost difference, which made it even more sus -- isn't the purpose of a reseller permit to acquire parts more economically? Idk -- I'm not a car professional, but it just didn't make sense to me. If I felt like the explanation was reasonable, I would understand. The last thing that bothered me was that there was no breakdown of the labor cost -- $370 for labor, and he couldn't tell me how much time was spent on the car nor was it documented on the invoice. I think in the past, because I had such great experiences with them, this would not have bothered me. But the totality of the experience made me squint my eyes a little more at everything. I wish I could say I'd be coming back, but for the sake of my peace of mind, I don't think I will be. I think they're great overall (look at their reviews), but if I went back, I'd be lying to myself that I feel comfortable putting my car in their care. I honestly can't believe I paid and walked out without demanding an itemized breakdown of the labor cost. I have reached out requesting the breakdown. I am so glad I was recommended by another Prius owner to come to this place. I came here to replace my rear brakes, not only did it cost half of what I will have paid at the dealer, but they also set up an appointment for me right away! Even though I came earlier than my appointment, they started to work on my car immediately. Instead of convincing me to get a brake fluid replacement (which the dealer tried to do) , they were honest and just top it off for free! Although there's no fancy waiting room ( so if you have longer service make sure to plan accordingly), I wouldn't complain with the value and the service you get. On the recommendation from my LAPD friend (who had also got his engine replaced for his Prius) I went in to address my 2015 Prius hybrid warning notice. Fortunatley was able to make it to my house before the car shutdown and had it towed to Hybrid 911 same-day and Valentin was able to run tests and discuss the issue. Like my friend, I ended up getting a engine replacement to full address my issues. With the uncertain upcoming economy with pricing going high, I bought myself additional years on my car to ride out any uncertainty before I'm in a position buy a new car (or I may just drive it into the ground). They did an incredible job on my 2006 Prius! I had no clue what was wrong with it, I kept changing the battery and it would still be drained the new time I tried to turn my car on. So, let me preface this with the fact that I haven't taken my car into a mechanic ever. I'll do oil changes at Walmart and other maintenance by myself. My Prius has been having a clunking noise with the steering and for some odd reason, it disappeared the day I brought it in. The mechanic took a look to verify everything was okay, and the car was good as is. Cool. Free inspection, I suppose. I don't know, but it gives me peace of mind knowing I can bring my car in to get it checked out without paying right away. Then the very next day my Prius had a check engine light. I ran my OBDII and discovered it was a P1121 code, so I called and they gave me an estimated quote. Cool! Now I know how much I need to repair the car, awesome. Eventually, I took the car in and... Well... This is where things get interesting. I won't say much. The staff knows what happened, but what I will say is the staff did a FASTASTIC job accomodating my needs to fix the car. They were extremely friendly and didn't make me feel embarassed or anything. I greatly appreciated the service I received from this shop and would highly recommend it. I will definitely return with more work to be done. I need my alignment fixed and eventually will need my brakes replaced. (soon) OH! I forgot to mention - during my first stop here, the staff checked my brakes and assumed the sound was coming from the brakes. Turns out I have 25% brakes left, AND he taught me how to inspect the brakes in the future. Wonderful. Now I know that might not seem like much, but no other mechanic has done that and I've taken my cars into a couple mechanics. (Not just this prius) Not once did the mechanic teach me something. Happened to be in the Covina area for a full moon ritual and knew about this shop from prior research. I had an ABS and Traction Control light come on back in Phoenix which disabled regenerative braking and cruise control, two important things for keeping the hybrid battery charged and fuel economy stable. I stopped by and they checked the codes with tech stream and knew there was a malfunction with a speed sensor but also noted there was a water pump code signaling a potentially failing water pump which could lead to the dreaded overheating and head gasket failure. I came by the next morning when they opened and not only was the speed sensor replaced, I went ahead and agreed to the water pump with everything complete and running perfectly within an hour.
