I'm in San Jose so it's impractical for them to meet and see my place (they're in Sacramento) so I sent pics and videos of my fenced backyard and interviews. Once I got the ok to adopt, I just kept on eye out on their website for a Golden I wanted. They had about 15 dogs there. Some Golden's, some Labs, some mixed ranging in sex, ages and temperaments. They're real clear about their ages and situations they think the dogs would be most comfortable in. The dogs are all fixed, microchipped and current with the shots/vaccines. With tests on their liver, kidneys, deworming and flea medication. Even his toes were well trimmed! Once I picked Bruno, a 3 year old cutie, they even included an extra month of flea and deworming med. Along with a big bag of kibble to make sure he had all the things needed for a successful adoption. They urge you to make a vet appointment ASAP too with the provided documentation so your vet knows you've got a healthy and happy dog. Can't say enough good things about Homeward Bound! You MUST make an appointment to adopt. But once you do, if you're a family, bring the kids too so they can see how the dogs and kids get along. They won't just take "your word" on how your kids will be with the dogs. They have to see it. They want to make sure it's a positive match for everyone concerned. They probably won't have puppies (since all dogs are fixed) unless someone surrenders a litter. (Which is highly unlikely.) But if you're looking for an young adult dog, Homeward Bound would be a great place to start your search. Thanks to everyone there for providing me with "Dug" (I always wanted a Golden named after him from "Up") and his new furever home!!

If you apply here don't mention any kids or you'll immediately be disqualified even if you're able to provide the dog with a loving home. I went with True Love Rescue and we adopted the most beautiful golden from Taiwan just days after submitting application and phone interview. That rescue actually wants to find loving homes for their dogs and are pleasant people to work with

How would you feel if your doctor didn't explain or even mention a heart problem to you because "I don't want to stress you out." Your value is the knowledge... we are adopting 8 week old puppies and we can't keep our heads in the sand if there's a problem. Please see in the text I posted that she knew of this issue before re-homing but did not want to disclose to not "freak out" the adopters. Knowledge is power; don't give anyone the right to take that away otherwise we'll have WALL-E for president 2028. If needed, we can do further investigation with our own vet to set our pup on the right foot forward the second they enter our home, but there should be a baseline standard of healthiness. Aside from the heart problems, there are skin discolorations. In the photo, you will see a pic of my pup Kygo with porphyrin staining on the sides of his bottom lips (maybe). You'll also get to see the staining on his anterior coat. I am trying to attach a text thread with another friend who bought from Alaska who saw the smoke before I saw the fire... But I'm not sure Yelp is able to have this much media uploaded... Again, no health records have been sent to me and I'm due for my next veterinarian visit next week. Sigh... What also blows my mind is that Kygo was approx the same age as Snowy/Buddy/whatever it was when they gave him up for gratis due to their perceived inability for him to be a responsible stud. I just want the health records so the whole process with my vet and with all other persons who bought from the Dulce Vida + Snowy/Buddy/wanna-be-airbud Airbud can have a better idea on what needs to done for monitoring for the new member in their family.
