My first kayaking experience and thanks to this lovely little shop, it won't be my last. The entire staff were beyond accommodating, knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate for what they do. I came with my parents and we were unfamiliar with the area or the proper technique of kayaking. The gentleman behind the counter provided us with all the useful information (maps) we could need for the best spots to see and the types of wildlife we could expect to encounter. The young lady who helped us with our equipment gave us a quick tutorial of how to use the kayaks and warned us of any potential dangers from boat traffic/strong currents/etc. We grabbed lunch at the restaurant next door (What The Fish - great fish tacos FYI), which was also recommended by the man behind the counter. Afterwards, we were still hungry for more and even went back out for a second round of kayaking! All in all, it was a wonderful day and I have Paddle the Keys to thank for it. read more

A while back, when summer just started we donated a bag of food, and they offered us to paddle all through Tavernier creek. Such a beautiful day that I'll always remember thanks to them. Life is about new experiences and paddle boarding was for us. Steven was our guide today, but the whole staff was welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. He was patient to teach us how to stand (or try....) . On the two hour eco tour, we saw a manatee cow and her pups. We also saw assorted birds, crabs, etc. We went into the mangroves (this can be difficult if you are 6'2"). We even saw dolphins. Some sad realizations were how little care we take with trash and the lack of respect for no wake zones by many of the boats. This was definitely something we encourage others to try, especially with this great group of guys! read more

My brother and I shared a two-person kayak and enjoyed rowing out to the suggested island AND the mangroves to a "secret lagoon" that was directed by the owner of the shop. Spot on!! We couldn't have been happier with our experience. We never would have attempted going through the thick trees if it wasn't for him, and I'm so glad we did. It was a touch of paradise. A great experience at a fair price! A group of five of us came on a Saturday morning and the shopkeeper did an awesome job of taking care of our group while also juggling another group of 20+ people. Single/tandem kayaks are $25/$35 for an entire day which is a competitive price for the Keys. There are two kayaking routes. One is in the open ocean towards a small island and back. We opted for the other route, up Tavernier Creek ducking into a mangrove tunnel and back. The mangrove tunnel was fun to navigate, and the waters were still for easy paddling; plus, we were able to see some fish. But be mindful that past 11am, the current of the creek opposes you on the way back, and it'll be quite the workout! There are also motorized boats that you share the creek with, and they generate waves that make the return journey more difficult, so if you're not a strong kayaker, you might want to go for a tandem kayak. All in all, I'd definitely recommend Paddle! Kayaking through the mangroves was one of the highlights of my Keys weekend. P.S. There are a few shops along the same strip as Paddle to grab a cold beer for the sea and well-earned food after kayaking! read more

Went to Paddle The Florida Keys last weekend. I called on Friday afternoon in regards to renting kayaks the next day. They stated that they have plenty of kayaks that a reservation for 2 wasn't necessary. I walked in on Saturday and was greeted by a staff member. I was in the water within 10minutes of walking in. They gave me a great path to kayak through the mangroves. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking to Kayak or do standup paddle boarding. **** they charge a flat fee for the kayak. so you can use it for as long as you'd like. other kayak rentals in the are do charge by the hour. -they do offer guided tours read more

We had a wonderful mangrove kayak tour with Bekah! She's an Environmental Studies major and therefore had a lot of knowledge regarding the area's flora and fauna. As a native Floridian, I thought I knew everything about the area, but she shared some interesting facts that were new to me! We went in the day before our tour to check out the equipment because we've never been to this area before. They were great and showing us around and letting us actually sit and stand on equipment to make sure we were comfortable before we signed up for the tour. We wound up going on a tour with Stephen as our guide the next morning. It was fantastic!! Stephen was knowledgeable and super aware of our needs as newbies. The mangroves were stunning and serene. I had an amazing time kayaking in the Keys thanks to this great group of people! The staff is all easy-going, and will make sure to keep you as happy as you are safe in their hands. Or instructor Stephen gave us helpful tips and tricks before we headed off without him on our little trip. Both options you can take - either kayaking to a small island, or checking out the mangroves - will be great. And you can do both if you have the time and upper body strength! The little island has a wooden swing and a plethora of hermit crabs to play with. The mangroves have a variety of island animals. I'd definitely come here again to get a more detailed look around the mangroves and wait for cool creatures to pop up! :) read more

Great folks with a fantastic spot to put in. They have unguided and guided tours available. There is a clear map on the back launch detailing the area and suggested routes. Parking is a huge issue but that's certainly not their fault. First thing to do is to pass the front of the business and try and get a spot in the back. We had the absolute best day out on the tandem kayaks. It was so cheap and we got seven hours of time with the kayak. The guy checking us out was so helpful and gave us route options and sent us out with a map. We got to see really cool jellies and went out to the island with the swings. We got to take a break in between trips and go grab lunch then hop back in. My husband and I did a last minute group tour here on our last full day in Key Largo. Our guide, Brittany, was so kind and personable with everyone and gave the group information along our tour about the ecology and wildlife in the area where we were kayaking/paddling. We were guided through a mangrove tunnel, which was really nice. We stopped for a bit and Brittany took pictures on her phone of everyone in the group and at the end of the tour, once we were back in the office, airdropped/emailed the pictures to everyone in the group (just of those particular individuals - not everyone's pictures altogether). I would highly recommend checking this place out for an informative and fun trip. We saw quite a few fish and even saw a manatee and some nurse sharks. Enjoyed the kayaking on the manatees and mangroves 2 hour tour with a group of 6. We saw a manatee at the dock as well as sharks and other fish. Didn't see any other manatees during the actual tour. While kayaking we saw small fish and our guide pointed out some jelly fish. Keith was a great guide and made it a safe, fun, enjoyable experience for our group. read more

What a FABULOUS experience. We took the night paddle and had a perfect time. Scott was our guide. I'm in my 60's and have some physical challenges. Scott assured me and gave our party of four women excellent guidance. Two of us were experienced paddles and two were total novices. The 2 hour trip was filled with a star filled sky and an overwhelming amount of laughter as fish jumped and swam all around our bottom lit paddle boards. Scott pointed out sea life everywhere and has SO much knowledge about the area and its ecology. We HIGHLY recommend this professional outfit. To top it off we ended the evening with 3$ per claw stone crab claws at the adjacent bar. read more

Sarah gave us marine biology lessons and made sure we saw all the marine life we could find along the way! Incredible 2-hour kayak tour through the mangroves with Keith! The natural waterways through the mangroves start wide and narrow until you are gliding under the tangled branches--such an adventure. You definitely need a guide--it makes all the difference. Our guide Keith was the best!!! He was relaxed, but so passionate about these waterways and all the creatures here. He was attentive and flexible to try to help us see the most wildlife possible. We hung out with a manatee and saw sharks and ray's. Also, the process of getting out in the water on our kayaks was quick and smooth. After you kayak here, go next door for fresh crab legs at the bar!! read more

A great spot for renting paddle boards and kayaks. It was my first time paddle boarding as we chose NOT to do the tour, but they still took the time to walk me threw how to do it, which Was sufficient enough that i didn't fall off the whole 2.5 hours we spent exploring the mangroves. The equipment was great and the whole experience was awesome. We went all the way to the secret lagoon And i will say the mangroves bsck there are very tight/overgrown so it was a little terrifying for a while, but a cool thing to see! We took a guided tour in the mangroves with Devon and had a great afternoon! Even though it was a windy day the water inside the canal was smooth and perfect for our first time kayaking on the ocean.
