In search of the perfect onion ring, I found myself setting foot in a pub for the first time. I was rewarded with the answer to my prayers: onion perfection, or as close to it as I've ever come. Hot and crisp even after the fifteen-minute walk back to my car, the rings were thick-cut and flavorful. Astonishingly so, in fact. Even after cooling on the drive home, the rings were delightful, and the sharing portion that I purchased has lasted me for three meals (always a bonus). Fabulous. I met "Doss", the bartender, he was friendly, attentive, and some wit, which is what you want in a bartender. The drinks are reasonably priced, the menu looks wonderful, remember you are coming to a somewhat traditional irish pub, and the menu reflects this. Food was decent but the best part was the staff !! So friendly and accommodating!! We came in for a late happy hour ! We was a group of 6 and they made sure we had all we needed ! Only downside is there was a few things missing on menu and no Cholula or salsa for the nachos is a why for the 4 stars instead of 5 !! I'm only giving this place 2 stars because 1) the server was very nice 2) the heaters were great. The food here was just soo bad :-( everyone got different stuff & we all just could not eat it. I've never had much exposure to Irish cuisine, which inspired me to try Paddy Coyne's for some new flavors. The restaurant does have a pub ambiance and is pretty small for being located in Lincoln Square. It is open seating, which may make it difficult for groups of at least four people to find a table. Many guests that came in pairs were sitting in tables meant for four since it's more spacious. Unfortunately, service was slower than expected after our order was taken. We ordered before the table next to us got their food....however, that table was finished eating before we started eating. It was almost a 30-minute wait. For 1:30 pm on a Saturday, there were several empty tables so it wasn't even super busy. **TIP: If ordering the Shepherd's Pie or Chicken Pot Pie, we were warned that these dishes take some extra time to prepare. I ordered the Guinness Braised Irish Beef Stew ($13), which was labeled as a popular dish on the menu. Most of the meat was tender, but it could have used more seasoning. There was a fair amount of beef, and an abundance of veggies and potatoes. Soda bread was served on the side, which tasted slightly like a corn bread - a bit dry but was good flavor-wise. I also tried a bite of the Mushroom Swiss Burger ($15), which could have also used more seasoning....however it was cooked well and topped with fresh veggies. The shoestring fries were delicious! The pricing was reasonable considering the substantial servings. **TIP: We found this restaurant in the Entertainment Coupon Book, which was a 'buy one get one' deal up to $13 in value. Since the Groupon doesn't work for happy hour AND they won't allow both on the same check, I asked for two separate checks to try best of both worlds. Interior wise, it isn't as swanky and upscale as other bar and lounges but it isn't a dump either. There were a few young girls who came in with no ID and expected to be served alcohol (got refused of course) then complained that the place sucks and left, really? Anyway, legit fish and chips platter and great lamb skewers at awesome prices. Fish crispy, hot and flaky; lamb skewers calmed down my hunger panes. Dessert - their chocolate bread pudding I swear was the most ginormous hunk that's so dense and heavy, you will need 4 people to finish it! Mental note to skip that next time. After walking around trying to find a place that we could grab a bite at we came into Paddy's. We had tried 2 other places 1st that were full. I get it , It's COVID and no one has room. Paddy's was awesome from the moment we walked in. All of the ladies at the bar immediately greeted my friend and I. We started with the Soda bread plate which was great. I had the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla (yes, i know it is an Irish pub, but it is what sounded good at the time). My friend had the club and fries. She said both were great, especially the fries. Had a Groupon from Paddy Coyne's that was expiring so I dined here on a Sunday early afternoon while catching a road Seahawks game on one of the TVs here. This space was previously occupied by Koots. Kind of still upset that place closed since they made a great matcha latte. What once was a rather bright tea shop has been transformed into a dark Irish pub. Though not quite a tavern feel. Had a seat at the bar so I could catch the game. A game that seemed to go badly for the Seahawks while I watched. The kind of game that makes you think you are a bad luck charm for watching. Regarding the food, you can find all of the Irish pub classics, but also American fare as well. I decided that I wanted to try one of the unfamiliar Irish dishes, so I got the Dublin coddle ($14.99) and the Paddy's IPA ($5) to pair it with. How does it feel to be coddled? Well, I thought it was okay. It is a simple hardy stew like dish with bangers, rashers and potatoes. It was good, but a bit pricey given its ingredients. The dish also came with Irish soda bread which was tasty. It has a cornbread texture to it. The Paddy's IPA has a nice bold malty flavor to it. If you don't feel like drinking one of the Irish beers, give this beer a try. Paddy Coyne's is a nice place to get decent grub while watching sporting events in downtown Bellevue. It is a little on the pricier side, but it is in Lincoln Square so that has to be expected. read more

We popped in for a quick lunch while waiting for computer repairs and chose this place to escape the children who had invaded Bellevue Square on President's Day. I had forgotten that the little buggers would be out of school, but I digress. I ordered a Harp, my pal had a Guiness, and we settled in to chat with the bartender while we waited for lunch to arrive. The pizza came hot and toasty and was loaded with toppings, but not overly so. The fish and chips was presented with two large pieces of crispy fish, shoestring french fries, and a little side dish of coleslaw. This is about the Shepards Pie. There are NO tomatoes in shepards pie, only peas, corn ,carrots and ground meat, either beef or lamb. The topping is mashed potatoes. Figured I'd stop in at one of the spots there BUT didn't realize the John Howie spots changed their hours (probably some time ago) and only open after 4/5pm. Took a walk down the street to an old friend, Paddy Coyne's. My last visit was back in 2019. Being shortly after the Dec snow, with temps pretty cold it was a frosty walk, but soon as I walked in to PC the warmth of the greeting and memories of past visits took away the chill. A pint of well poured Guinness and a lunch special (half Ruben with cup of soup) hit the spot for a fraction of what other places in the area would set you back. Stopped in here last night, Sat evening before Christmas, and caught the happy hour. Prices were great and the food was good, but nothing that really stood out as phenomenal. The wild mushroom soup was loaded with mushrooms and hit home on a chilly evening. A little heavy cream in the broth would make it more hearty and rich, but it was definately good. The shepherd's pie, another one of those chilly night foods, a little short on the ground beef and no hint of the parmesan melted on top of the potatoes. Still a pretty enjoyable meal. Came in to sit at the bar. Immediately could hear the woman next to me yelling to her friends. The topics covered her derision of gay people, disdain for BLM, and contempt for trans people. As I sat I heard her continue to say disgusting and derogatory things mostly about trans people, but she truly ran the gamut. Everyone other than straight white people were up for insult. She was with two men who encouraged and agreed with her. She again and again returned to trans people, a topic she didn't seem to want to drop. She also spoke about her contempt for Bellevue and Seattle, claiming to be from the eastern part of the state and wishing it would be segregated and join with Idaho (adding this because it was so weird). She repeatedly spoke about how over accommodating the western side of the state is. I was shocked to learn she is a manager. I can't in good conscience give my money to a place that employs such a hateful woman. read more

The Irish beef stew is very small, very small, very small. It doesn't taste that good either. Corned beef is a normal portion and tastes really good. I gave a 3-star mainly because of the cones beef. I usually go to Paddy's for late night snacks and they are consistently good. My friend told me that Paddy's serve breakfast on the weekends so I decided to give a try. A parking garage was nearby so it was very convenient. When I arrived, there were many seats available. The server was friendly and upbeat. After workout, I was very hungry so I ordered, Paddy's Special Scramble breakfast and hot brewed coffee. It served with sourdough bread and butter with orange marmalade on the side. The portion was bigger than I expected and I was't able to finish it all. I took my leftover in a sturdy to-go container. The service was efficient and kept my coffee full the whole time. It hit the spot. I was glad to try this place out because not many places serve breakfast in downtown Bellevue on the weekends. I will definitely return it. read more

I really don't know how this place is still in business. Went there Friday evening it wasn't busy at all but the service sucked. Our waitress hated her job. She took our orders like it was a huge task and she was doing us a favor. We ordered drinks and apps and waited for refills round two and she didn't even come to check up on us. I would give zero stars if possible. We had a party of nine last Saturday for an early dinner before the snowflake lane parade. We have done this as a group for many years now. Most of our party ordered shepherds pie, which was good. Two of us had sandwiches which were terrible, the bread was tough and the cheese on the grilled cheese sandwich was not even melted. The French fries were cold as ice. The waitress call the manager over, his name was Nathan. He was so rude, it was unbelievable. I asked for new fries and was told there were 10 tables ahead of us who had not even ordered yet, and they would come first. When it was time for the bill, I asked for the 2 sandwiches to be comped, since they were not edible. Nathan then came back to the table and told us we were rude, but he would comp all our dinners and asked us to leave. I will never eat there again. I also sent a message on the restaurant website when I got home saturday. Night and of this evening have not received a response. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Bellevue Square to grab a beer because they do not try to be one of the fancy spots just like many places in Bellevue Square do. On the contrary, it is simply a nicer pub to grab a drink (or two, or three?) and some appetizers or dinner to go along with it. My big reason to keep coming back here is one of their delicious beers - Hale's Cream Ale. I love supporting local breweries and Hale's Cream Ale is not just allowing me to do so, but it is also incredibly tasty! Just writing about it, makes me want to have another one. If you want a good healthy meal, they have plenty of great salads to choose from and some soups too - I really liked their potato leek soup and in case you are craving something a bit more unhealthy and do not want to see green colors on your plate, go for some of their great appetizers praties & gravy, quesadilla or their tasty bread basket (made in the house). If you are craving something sweet, I would recommend Guinness chocolate cake or their hot chocolate spiked with whiskey! So yummy! read more

I've been a regular for a few months but today I had the unfortunate experience of sitting next to a woman at the bar who spent the whole time loudly ranting about her hatred of trans people, gay people, and the Black Lives Matter movement. A bit later I come to find out she's a manager there! To say nothing of how off-putting and upsetting it is to hear someone spout such vitriol while trying to enjoy a night out, the lack of professionalism it shows to discuss such offensive politics near other guests and customers was downright embarrassing. will not be returning to this pub-l'm sure I can find similarly over-priced drinks and under-seasoned food elsewhere. read more

Felt like I was a thousands of miles away from Bellevue Square entering into this establishment. The decor would take anyone on a quick trip to Ireland without the passport. Very intimate setting which makes it feel all the more authentic. The service was quick and outstanding. Our server knew the menu and really helped us make up our minds.
