I popped in while staying at the hotel for quick dinner. It was kind of bizarre it was around 7 o'clock. There was not one person in the dining room except for a group in the corner so I walked around to the bar area and asked if I could get served and she said yes I'll serve you. I asked for a bowl of chowder and a dessert came and the dessert never came. Finally another woman showed up and did the same thing I did looked around and sat down, and a gentleman came out of somewhere and brought her menu and took her order. Never helped me. I had to get up and go and asked for my dessert and it was delicious but service and absolute zero even though the bartender was really sweet. I ordered room service from them another time for a bowl of chowder and a dessert again obviously the food is fantastic but this delivery cost me $12 for $20. That's worse than Uber lol read more

Nut allergy friendly: Had no issues with anything I had here. The wait staff even replaced my order when there was an error and they were unsure on nuts in the pesto. (Shout-out to Hieu, great waiter). I stayed at the Hilton Bellevue for four nights, which provided a $30 Food and Beverage credit for a Diamond member with two guests on the reservation. I ate at the Solarium Kitchen once and ordered to-go meals on other days. Time to Appetizers: 15 Minutes Time to Entree: 25 Minutes To-Go Salads: 15 Minutes Dining in, it was always self-seated and wait for someone to notice. Again, shout-out to Hieu for holding down the fort in his section. We ordered the lamb lollipops (5/5) and Northwest Seafood Chowder (4/5) using Hilton Diamond complimentary appetizers. Both were great uses of the voucher. The lamb lollipops came out with two pieces of very tender lamb and a nice side salad. The Northwest Seafood Chowder was honestly comparable to the chowder I had at Pikes Place Market. A little salty, but had real salmon and was pretty good. For mains, we shared a pepperoni pizza and it was a nice thin crust style. A little oily, but plenty filling for two people (4/5). On every other night I got a to-go order. The first night I got a grilled chicken sandwich and the roasted seasonal vegetables which were broccolini, carrots, and green beans. Vegetables came out crispy, a little buttery, nice garlic (4/5). The grilled chicken sandwich was well portioned and came with a nice side of fries, but the chicken was a bit dry (3/5). The other nights I got a classic salad with chicken. Great fresh greens and nice mix of radish and cucumber, but again the chicken was quite dry (3/5). Might be better in person than to-go. Overall, excellent place to come dine while staying at the Hilton Bellevue and their small plates are competitive with other restaurants. After eating brunch here, my reaction was, "Yep, tastes just like a hotel breakfast." We came here after not being able to book a reservation at Eques--a Bellevue spot with an excellent buffet brunch. Solarium is definitely not Eques. It very much felt like the complimentary breakfast, or breakfast you'd get by upgrading a hotel room. Fine for a hotel breakfast, but not a spot I'd go out of my way to go to. Came here for lunch a couple of times. The location is super convenient, especially with the easy parking situation since it's located in a hotel. You just walk a few steps from the lobby entrance, seat yourself, and the server comes by promptly to help. For a weekday lunch, the place is never too crowded, which is a huge plus. The menu has what you'd expect from a hotel restaurant of this caliber, and while it's on the more expensive side, the quality is good and it's a worthwhile expense for the convenience and quick service. We had a great time at dinner here. Service was impeccable and our waitress was very friendly. Plus dinner was 50% off if you are staying at the hotel. Food came out quick, it was hot and looked perfect! The lamb lollipops were delightful and savory. The red sauce underneath the lamb was so tasty. I want to re-create that. They came with warm fresh pita bread and hummus. I ended up dipping the bread in the mouthwatering red sauce. I also ordered the chicken sandwich. The sandwich was HUGE and fantastic! It was cut in half and easily could have been shared. The bread was thick and crunchy! The bacon and havarti cheese on the grilled chicken added so much texture and flavor. It wasn't the cheap bacon either. And the fries are delicious. It was a great meal before heading out bowling. My friends ordered Filet mignon with risotto and the cheese burger. They even hinted if i wanted bacon on the side which of course i do! Bacon was crispy and they gave a decent amount. French Toast wasnt soggy and edges were crisp. Super sugary by itself though. There was a decent amount of whip cream on the side and a huge amount of syrup on the side as well. Service came to my door 20 mins after ordering, just like the restaurant stated. The skylights do make the area bright but they could've hosted the brunch in a more private area of the hotel. We loaded up on the prime rib (pretty fatty), jumbo shrimp (nice, big and tasty), and clams/mussels (solid). The dessert area was generous and everything was tasty, not too sweet, and seemed of good quality. At $68/adult, $25/kids with bottomless mimosas seems like a good deal compared to other Easter brunch buffets around. We came here for Seattle Restaurant Week last weekend, we got popcorn shrimp & Dungeness crab quesadilla for starters, flat iron steak and filet mignon for entrees, Jamaican rum carrot cake & pumpkin cheesecake. The starters were literally double the portions we were expecting. I loved the popcorn shrimp and my bf loved the crab quesadilla. Steaks were both super juicy and tender. Mash potatoes were bomb, soft and garlicky. Get the carrotcake, the pumpkin cheesecake was ok. Overall great experience, our server Victor was super friendly. Came here for Christmas day brunch and thought it was a very solid experience! The staff was lovely - they kept the area maintained, food stocked, plates cleared, and glasses full of mimosa like a well oiled machine. They were fabulous! The layout was a bit weird. The Solarium is an open concept restaurant off of the lobby in the Hilton. Due to the popularity of the event - or maybe its always like this? - they used tables outside of the immediate perimeter. My friend and I sat at one of these tables and it had its pros and cons. Pros it was a quieter location with plenty of space. Cons was there wasn't a clear path from the buffet to the table without occasionally feeling like a salmon swimming upstream and since the table was along a common pathway for hotel guests it felt weird as people with luggage would pause to stare at our food. It felt very exhibitionist. The food was good. The prime rib was killer. The lobster bisque was a bit watery. The cinnamon rolls were dry. The waffle was average. There were these little lemon tarts that were incredible! Those things were too easy to eat. But nothing that made me want to return and nothing that made me regret coming. This restaurant is located inside the Hilton hotel lobby. We were back in Washington for the Seahawks game and decided to stopped by here for dinner. We came in at around 7:30pm so the place was quite which was just perfect for us. The food quality is so much better than we expected. The dirty martini is also so good that I had two. We ordered grilled cheese sandwiches on sour dough bread and they were quite delish! The young lady that was our server was quite charming so the last minute dinner plan ended on a positive note. We really appreciated her excellent customer service. The Valentine's dinner was not good. Yes, the staff was very nice. The host was the best I've encountered in a long time. My waitress was very nice but lacked skill and etiquette. For instance, she dropped a salad dressing dish (dressing everywhere) from a used plate a few feet from our table and in the middle of the walk through for guests next to the bar area. She looked back at it, stopped for a sec then kept walking. Many staff and patrons stopped after seeing it but just walked right over it. She finally came back 20 mins later to pick it up (after walking over it 3 more times). Of course, the dressing was left on the floor the rest of the time I was there. It was entertaining to watch. I don't believe that the kitchen actually "cooks" anything (I could be wrong but doubt it). All of the food appeared to be prepared and brought in or frozen and thawed by the staff. The wedge salad wasn't actually a wedge but was fine. They cut off an end of Romaine and put it on a plate instead of cutting a wedge using iceberg. There was enough dressing for about half. The tomato soup was good but I don't believe they made it. The butter chicken was horrible! The chicken was obviously frozen chicken that was thawed and placed in the sauce. It reminded me of having airplane food. It was not prepared in a way you would get it in an Indian restaurant. The sauce was good but again, there's no way they made it. The rice was very overcooked and mushy. It was pretty disgusting. The desserts were fine but obviously brought in from some place else. The heart shaped cheesecake that is clearly mentioned on the menu was a circle not a heart. The location in the lobby isn't setup right. The staff did an excellent job with what they had. The table cloths, flower petals, and decorations were spot on. The hanging sheer panels acting as walls were a disaster. Every time someone came in the front door, cold air would blow through the restaurant on that side. They should really consider enclosing the area with glass walls to go with the atrium theme. Will we be back? No way! I paid $100 for crappy Indian food that I could have purchased for $30 in an authentic restaurant. To top it off, my date wouldn't eat the Indian food because it tasted so bad. She told the waitress why she didn't want it and her response was, "Would you like me to box it up for you?" Are you kidding? I just laughed. She had no clue. No offer of a replacement or anything. Even worse, when she was serving the table next to us, she would move her bottom back within an inch or so of our table. That was totally unnecessary. The tables weren't close together and no one was seated on their other side of that table. She could have walked to the other side or stood closer to there table. I didn't look at their regular menu because we came to try this place during Seattle Restaurant Week. For $35, we had a three course meal from the Seattle Restaurant Week menu. There were three of us in our party. STARTERS: - Northwest Seafood Chowder - chef's selection of fresh seafood, fresh thyme, evoo. The chowder was good, but nothing to rave about. I couldn't tell which seafood was in there -- hint of salmon, clam maybe. It was thicker than I'm used to in a chowder. - Lamb Lollipops with harissa,dill Greek yogurt, grilled naan. 2 tender, nicely cooked medium and well seasoned lamb lollipops! This was a hit for us. I would order this dish again. - Ahi Tuna Poke - cucumber salad, scallion, seaweed, sesame pickled ginger, lemongrass ponzu, crisp wonton. This was another hit for us and the portion was generous for a starter. The tuna was fresh and the whole dish was tasty. ENTREES: - Northwest King Salmon - red rice pilaf, walla walla onion, sweet pepper, mushroom, citrus beet coulis - the fish was nicely seasoned. It was cooked perfectly. I actually thought the red rice pilaf was quinoa. It sure looked and tasted like it. I don't remember the pepper and mushroom onthe plate, but maybe because I was enjoying the salmon and quinoa (or rice pilaf) that I didn't notice them. - Flat Iron steak - 8 oz double R ranch steak, garlic Yukon gold mashed potatoes, harvest vegetables, red wine demi - the steak was nicely cooked and seasoned. Garlic mashed potatoes was good as well although I didn't get to taste it. - Jumbo prawn curry - house made curry sauce, roasted vegetables, basmati rice, grilled naan. I was skeptical of this dish because good (Indian inspired) curry dish are hard to come by unless you get it from an Indian Restaurant. This dish was a pleasant surprise! The curry has a sweetness to it in the beginning and ended with heat. It was delicious! The naan was ok. I've had better. DESSERTS: - Pumpkin spice creme brûlée with fresh berries. I liked how the taste of pumpkin wasn't strong. - Salted caramel cheesecake - white chocolate, macerated wild berries, cinnamon whipped creme - Triple Chocolate - white chocolate vanilla silk mousse, dark chocolate ganache, flourless chocolate silk bottom All three desserts were good but I liked the pumpkin spice creme brûlée the best. We ordered espresso with dessert and our server insisted on giving us a double even though we said we didn't want a double. She felt the single shot is too small. I have eaten here maybe 4-5 times this year. Honestly it's the service that keeps me coming back. The restaurant and bar located in the Hilton offers the hospitality that Hilton is known for. There is a good variety available on the menu. Small plates are often a complete meal. The tenderloin beef-tips should have TENDER in all caps. If I didn't feel self-conscious I'd lick the plate clean. The Chicken Rigatoni has become a favorite. Risotto is an excellent choice. Most times when I travel I don't want to eat at the hotel restaurant but Solarium is an exception. read more

It was fun watching the older generation dancing to the jazz geeks. I was at the Hilton to set up my booth for a vendor event this past weekend. Only reason why I'm giving a 3 star is mainly due to the quality of the food. Service was great. Loved Zova(I believe that's her name) The atmosphere was also fun. But the food... the seafood chowder tasted like it was sitting in the pot all night. I didn't even taste seafood. I tasted mainly flour, chunky flour. So that's ok because it was just my side dish. So I had the margherita on flatbread. It was not good. No flavor at all. How can a margherita not have flavor? I took photos so you can see for yourself what it looked like. But I didn't complain, and just ate my food because someone else was paying for it. For dessert we had the chocolate lava type cake with ice cream. Even that wasn't very good. I've had better. But it's dessert so I'll let it pass. Again I didn't complain. The next day I had a Carmel macchiato made with Starbucks ingredients. It was just okay, not Starbucks quality. I was disappointed that they offered starbucks coffee but had no to go lids, other than for tall drinks, so I was a bit inconvenienced to have to stop somewhere else. But this 5 stars was for the dinner part. The dinner was awesome. You seat yourself but have a server for everything else. Mine was a younger blonde guy, and he didn't pester me at all but did check in a few times to make sure everything was good. The restaurant is in the lobby. Lots of tables and comfortable chairs. We started with crab cakes and lamb popsicles. Both were so good. Entrees we had scallop risotto, filet and top sirloin. Oh my goodness the scallops was my favorite. The meats dishes were just as good but I love risotto. Desserts blueberry cheesecake and raspberry creme brûlée were phenomenal. 3.5 stars! The first thing you need to know about Solarium is it's located in the Hilton hotel lobby. I didn't really realize that and its implications when I came for Restaurant Week. The restaurant is not self-contained and is openly located with everything that's going on in the hotel lobby. The hotel is also a bit old so this place doesn't give a feeling of a "nicer place" if that's what you're going for. (The pictures make the vibe looks better than reality) When I went, the restaurant is also very short staffed, probably the most short staffed restaurant I've been to for a long time. This is perfectly understandable given COVID so just know this as a heads up that you might have to wait for awhile to be served and get food, and if that's ok with your party/event. The restaurant actually gave me the wrong entree as I ordered the flat iron steak but they gave me filet mignon. Since they were pretty backed up they asked if it's ok with me and it didn't matter to me. Onto the food: The food quality is better than you would expect from a short staffed hotel restaurant. I had lamb lollipops for my appetizer, filet mignon for my entree, and creme brulee for my dessert. Other people in my party had dungeness crab cakes and banana foster. The lamb lollipops were really good! I wasn't disappointed with the filet mignon and the creme brulee - they didn't blow me away but I think the quality was good still. I would rate the restaurant higher if it had better/faster service. It's too bad because the food was pretty good. I actually felt really bad for our servers because there were only 2 for the entire venue and they had no rest but still behind. I came here for the weekday breakfast buffet last month ($25 + tax + tip) and left a bit disappointed. There were many servers and very few guests, so I did get a lot of attention and they were quite nice and accomodating. So I hate to leave a bad review. But the food was not great. I didn't like the bacon at all. It was nice that they had a free omelet station and that was OK. They made me a fresh waffle since the pre-made ones were cold, but it's just like the basic type you make your kids. The pastries were not appealing. The oatmeal was good. I wish they had a more healthy/fresh focus, such as whole grain foods, salad bar with mixed greens, etc. might eat there if I was staying at the hotel, but wouldn't come for the buffet. Maybe the a la carte menu items are better. The next day I tried Eques at the Hyatt Regency and it blew this place away for like $4 more. That's now my go-to for weekday breakfasts. read more

Enjoyed a nice Valentine's Day dinner at Solarium Kitchen & Bar. 5 stars for service, 3 stars for food. The thing about Solarium is that it's a hotel restaurant, so there isn't really any wow factor, but what you get for a hotel restaurant is pretty decent. They offered a three-course dinner for Valentine's Day. Prices varied depending on the entree. My hubs ordered the Chowder, the Rack of Lamb, and the Coffee Chocolate Cake. The chowder was creamy and had a few different types of seafood (shrimp, clams, and salmon). The lamb was nicely seasoned, cooked to order (his was medium) and a good overall texture. The sides were tasty (veggies and mashed potatoes). The chocolate cake was good, but not really a cake texture, it was more spongy. I ordered the Wedge Salad, the Salmon, and the Carmelo. The wedge was tasty, and had plenty of bleu cheese crumbles and was served with Romaine instead of iceberg lettuce, so that was different. The salmon was fine, but nothing to write home about. It was supposed to have horseradish in it but I didn't taste any, so in that sense, it wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping. The Caramelo dessert was yummy. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Solarium. If you're staying at the Hilton, I would definitely recommend eating there. You'll enjoy a good meal, with great service and convenience. read more

Came here for a Thanksgiving brunch and left ready for a nap! Not typically a fan of turkey, but this was well seasoned and tender...when mixed with the gravy and cranberries...delish! I was really looking forward to the prime rib, but each time I gave it a go, it was over cooked. Didn't give the salmon wellington a try...but it looked popular. Truly something for everyone. Beechers mac and cheese, lucious sweet potatoes and perfectly cooked veggies. Lots of options for the kiddos too...pizza, chicken tenders, waffles and fresh fruit. The desserts. Wow. What a selection (half those portions!!) Unfortunately, they all tasted store bought to me...would have LOVED home made whipped cream (definitely CoolWhip) or an oozy pecan pie. Also, plenty of options, including a bread pudding...I just had no room left to put it. Service was great. Very friendly and quick to remove plates. Don't know if I'd go back for the brunch. We have been to this hotel before and knew we liked the food. It looks like they changed up their menu a little bit since we went there last. The filet mignon was okay, a little tough to cut. Comes with a sauce which is not my favorite. Potatoes were good. Kids enjoyed their kids meals. Mother enjoyed her burger, looked amazing. Service was slow, the last time we were there we thought that was a one off but it seems to be the way it goes. It was kind of busy though, as there was a jazz band, and a conference going on at the hotel. Jazz band was lovely! They are their every Thursday 7-9. I believe they were called the Jazz geeks! Told the waiter and he got us a shot of tequila separately to add to it. Interesting! Then comes the food - ordered an appetizer that didn't come at all! Main dishes - chicken caprese in which the chicken was hard to cut through. Salmon that was dry and hard and tasted like cardboard. The Ravioli was just shocking! I ate here with my family for my brother's birthday. It is in the lobby of a hotel, very open. The place was pretty of a bit too public, and very quiet. The menu was varied but not overly large- emphasis on steak and seafood with a small mix of other dishes. I ordered two small plates off the happy hour menu- lamb lollipops and asparagus. Both were good but nothing that would make me go back. The service was slow with large sections of time where we never saw our waitress. I ordered the lamb lollipop and the king salmon. The food arrived quick and fresh. I was blown away by the portion sizes, really generous on the appetizer. The lamb was well done and the char was perfect. It was complemented well by the yoghurt and the naan. The main course of the king salmon also tasted amazing. The crispiness on the salmon was perfect. All in all great value for $20. I will visit again to try out some of the other things. This was a restaurant on the Seattle Restaurant Week menu. It's actually just an outgrowth of the lobby bar of the open-concept Hilton hotel in Bellevue. Came here for a late dinner and admittedly since it was late it wasn't very happening. The food was acceptable. The service was as well. Orders their Thanksgiving dinner to-go this year. Their price at $70/2 ppl got to be the among the most affordable in town. It comes with bread and salad, soup, 2 entrees, 2 sides and 2 pieces of pies. The dinner is served hot with no heating needed. I love that I don't need to spend hours at home before serving. The taste is pretty good, all met my expectations. Pick up took about 15 mins but I'm ok with it considering how well all foods were packed. I will definitely do it again next year! read more

Thanksgivings for us were always a 20+ person, potluck, family affair in West Seattle. We love them, but with the coronavirus pandemic raging, this year would only be our inner circle of five: our family of three, and my parents, both in their 70s. We settled on the take-out Thanksgiving menu from Solarium Kitchen. Wow. We expected good food, but we were absolutely blown away. I swear our family potlucks have standard Thanksgiving fare that ranges from good to great at our extended family gatherings, but every course we had from Solarium was excellent. The prime rib was crispy on the outside yet tender, pink, and juicy on the inside. The turkey was juicy and moist as well, and the basil gravy was absolutely delicious. The desserts - pumpkin cheesecake and pecan pie for us - were excellent. The bread, soup, salads, and sides were of equal caliber. I booked Thanksgiving dinner for myself and adult children- we couldn't have it at home since my husband is immunosuppressed, so he stayed home and we went out. Instead of being seated in the lovely solarium with piano music - we were in a small enclosed brightly lite room, with tables too close and too many people for the square footage. I arrived late, and had to go to the bathroom directly, bypassing the front desk and then found our table. I was a little disturbed about the amount of people in our room. And as our table started to talk about Covid restrictions I asked everyone if someone had checked their vaccination status. NO, know one checked any of them before they were seated. That just leaves me to believe a great percentage of people that were sitting in our tiny room had not been checked. The seriousness of this is if I should contract Covid because of your lax policies it has a direct impact on the health of my husband. I'm furious. Who in your company thinks that is OK? Checking vaccine status is a state regulation. I asked the maître d' about his policy regarding checking and he said they checked everyone. I wonder if he expects me to believe he checked everyone in that whole restaurant except our table? I don't buy it. It's a complete lack of responsibility. I'll never be back. And don't book for special occasions expecting to be seated in the area where there's a nice atmosphere instead you'll be put in the back room. Completely disappointing experience. read more

Overall, it was okay but nothing great. If I were staying at the hotel and didn't want to leave then it makes sense but certainly not something that I would seek out... again. The most positive experience here was our server. I don't know why a reservation was needed for this place. No host to meet, staff in general very laissez-faire. Reservation "requirement" deceptively elevated this venue. Pretty much open seating policy. I could sit directly next to someone or not. Staff were wearing masks though. read more

Went in for Seattle Restaurant Week and was pleasantly surprised! The location isn't what I expected because it's in a hotel lobby area but the food we got was DELICIOUS! My friend and I each got the popcorn shrimp and each plate was enough for 2 to share so I left pretty full. The lime they give you with it to squeeze on tip of the shrimp takes this dish over the top. The black and blue salad was next and was again a huge portion. I could have easily just had one item for a meal yet I still inhaled both and didn't eat anything till dinner that evening. The steak was cook perfectly and the salad was dressed just right. I'm going to see if I can get the hubby to come by just for that popcorn shrimp while we are downtown one day - it is really that amazing! read more

SUMMARY Great staff members and mostly delicious foods. High recommend the Dungeness Crab Cakes (starter) and Raspberry Creme Brulee (dessert). LONG REVIEW Bought dinner to-go. The restaurant is on the right just as you walk in the door of the Hilton hotel. The staff on site (security and waitress) were all very friendly and though there wasn't too many tables around dinner time (weekday), there was only one person serving between the restaurant/bar area. In terms of thoughts on the food: -Starters- Shishito Peppers - felt soggy, could use breading, but there was a lot of it Dungeness Crab Cakes - comes with two and everyone that had it thought it was incredibly delicious (highly recommend!) Kung Pao Cauliflower - literally kung pao chicken substitute chicken with cauliflower, also recommend, the non-veggie lovers also really enjoyed it... awesome sauce Popcorn Shrimp - tasted like honey walnut prawns -Entrees- Flat Iron Steak - decent steak, Prawn Curry - very tasteful curry, fresh avocado, and perfectly cooked prawns Northwest King Salmon - dish was well prepared; the salmon was a tad on the drier side and would say needs more flavor if eaten individually, but when eaten with the sauce it came with (as intended), it was great Northwest Mushroom Risotto - flavor was quite strong but quite neutral -Desserts- Raspberry Creme Brulee - best creme brulee I ever had; they use real vanilla beans, would highly recommend! It's Valentine's Day and my group and I had to book a last min dinner. Thankfully there was still one restaurant accepting large group reservations. That was Solarium. It is inside the Hilton Hotel in Bellevue, pretty fancy. They have their own parking lot and garage which is always a plus. We were seated next to a pianist whom played romantic/classical tunes the whole night to really set that valentine's mood. Score!!! (He was also gladly taking song requests! Loved him!) Unfortunately, we had 2 different waiters for the night who had to switch off shifts and BOTH of them had to be given 3 stars... They were both nice and everything but both of them seemed like it was their first day that night. Solarium had a special Valentine menu that night but we asked if they are serving the regular menu as well.. We asked both of them separately and both was very unsure and never came back to us with the answer, however we keep seeing other servers serve out food from the said regular menu.. hmmm.. But anyway.. as for the food, the Valentine menu had a 3 course meal deal going on and of course we had to cop. My husband and I shared an appetizer: Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Yum!!! We also shared the 3 course meal and we got: Northwest Seafood Chowder (I give 5 stars), Filet Mignon and Prawn Duet (Soft steak but wish they gave more than 2 shrimps and more mashed potatoes.. all tasted good though) and last but not least, the best part: Salted Caramel Cheesecake (this one had a pretty generous size even for 2 people. It looked like it was pre-made but hey, lemme know where they got it from because I would like another one. Not to mention the chocolate-strawberry that topped it off!)
