After moving to Waldorf, I was impressed with (and a little skeptical of) Boswell's nearly 5 Star Yelp rating. After using Boswell's twice, I quickly experienced how they earned and maintain their reputation. The owner, Tom is not afraid to tell you his rates up front and give his best estimate on time needed to diagnose/fix. He is candid about when he will be able to get to your car. I never felt pressure for any repairs - Tom is like an experienced doctor who gives his best diagnosis for what is wrong with a vehicle including options and costs for different courses of action. After 5 years, Boswell's is still our go-to auto repair shop. Through many repairs over the years, both small and large - Boswell's consistently provides fair prices, good service, and great communication. Thanks, Tom! That is because I haven't had a great experience with either of them. After having a very terrible experience at JJ's Auto service which is right next door and please see my review for that. I had an excellent experience at Boswell's which is where I got everything fixed for a fraction of the price. Bill and Tom, the latter of whom is the owner we're super friendly and nice. Tom's wife answers the phone and is polite and courteous. I wanted the job done quickly and efficiently so that I could get my car back on the road otherwise I wouldn't be able to move forward with the rest of my work in business meetings they were very understanding of that and made sure that they did everything to accomplish it and exceeded my expectations I have absolutely nothing horrible to say about them because they're such wonderful folks and apparently they've been in business for a very long time and they know what they do and they're good at it. If you ever find yourself stuck in the area and need car repairs I would have no hesitation to recommend them to anyone

I have spent thousands of dollars and have the receipt to prove it. As kind as Doc is the Mechanics are shady. Every time I got my car back it was in worst shape then it was when I took it there. Before I could even get the car home every light on the dash was on flashing. It would shut off and it would be days before it would start. I wouldn't advise any woman to take a car there because I feel that as a woman you are taking full advantage of. The work is not guaranteed and nothing they do is warranted. I would have been better off taking it directly to a Honda dealership, at least the parts and labor would have been under warranty. I'm trying not to be bitter, but better. Doc has a really good personality and I trusted him. This was the third shop that I had used to repair my car and the other two were worst. My vehicle has not been in good running condition since 2023. After it was all said and done Doc told me that in hindsight he would have told me to replace the engine and I was going to do that, but a month prior I recommended my daughter have them change her oil, last week when she was taking me to a doctors appointment her oil light and engine light came on and started flashing. Her car has less than a hundred thousand miles on it and has never giving her any problems. She had only had the oil change less than a month ago. That changed my mind about allowing them to replace my engine which according to Doc would cost me $3,800. I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread and I've never seen any bad deed go unpunished. It's called GREED. But you can't punish people like GOD can so I am leaving this in his hand. Arrdaise Manning

This for I received my insurance deductible of 500 dollars. The owner Keon Wilson says he will reimburse me my 4,767.88 for my engine however I have not received it or any information on when or how I will be reimbursed. Just excuses! I asked why the business insurance is not paying for it? He said "because the vehicle was not in the shop at the time of the incident, the mechanic a independent contractor who was driving the vehicle after hours that's where the problem comes up". So now I'm out of a vehicle , 4760 for the engine not to mention the 1,000 I spent on tires new tires. The mechanic/driver provided our insurance to the state trooper (this is now a at fault accident on my insurance). I am mad as hell!! This is going to be a long drawn out process in court now. This is one of those reviews where it never occurred to me that my experience would end with a…read morereview... much less a negative one. I began my search online for a specific set of tires. Of all the providers near me, Tires Plus in Brandywine, MD had the exact tires I wanted at the best price. Great, right? Well... just keep reading. I brought the online "out-the-door" price (see attached photo) into the store to confirm everything before moving forward with the purchase. The salesperson looked up the tires, confirmed the pricing, and scheduled my appointment for two days later. He also told me the tires would arrive the very next day. On the morning of my appointment, I called the store to confirm they had been delivered. Without verifying anything whatsoever, the representative abruptly said, "Tires come in around 10 or 11 o'clock. Call back." I managed to stop him before he hung up to explain that my tires were supposed to have arrived the day before. He checked my information, acknowledged that I was correct, and then informed me that, for some reason, they never arrived. He suggested I come in after that day's shipment. I arrived that afternoon only to be told... they still hadn't arrived. The manager called his supplier and reprimanded them for the mistake. Please keep in mind that I had made special arrangements around the appointment they had scheduled. Later that day, I called again to check the status. The manager confirmed the tires had finally arrived. When I told him I'd come back to have them installed, he casually informed me, without an ounce of urgency or any apparent appreciation for the inconvenience, that they couldn't install them that day. Instead, he said he could "try" to fit me in the following evening. That was the moment I knew this review was writing itself. I returned the next day for my 3:00 p.m. appointment. My vehicle wasn't taken back until well after 4:00, and the installation wasn't completed until sometime after 5:00. Now remember that "out-the-door" price I mentioned earlier? The service advisor presented me with a bill that was nearly $200 higher. Naturally, I pointed out that their own website showed a different price. The manager walked over, visibly annoyed, and told me he would "give" me the online price, but claimed the internet pricing didn't include taxes because, according to him, the website had no way of knowing which state the purchase would occur in. Jesus Christ. Even the salesperson standing there looked like he couldn't believe what his manager had just said. I calmly explained that the customer selects the state during the online purchase process and that the Tires Plus website clearly itemizes every charge, including sales tax, in the final "out-the-door" price. Finally, I thought we had reached the end of this saga. Not quite. When I walked outside, my vehicle was sitting in a public parking space with the doors unlocked. I asked one of the employees what their protocol was for locking customers' vehicles after service. His response? "There's really no rule." So... there you have it. A fully functioning SH!% SHOW!!!!! I'm glad this is over! Not so fast. While driving home, I noticed that my digital tire reading was showing insufficient tire inflation levels. (You can't be serious!) The simplest thing that they offer as a professional tire dealer cannot be inaccurate! So, I gave it a day to recalibrate, and lo and behold... the "professional techs" missed the mark here as well. Recommendation level: Not even if Jesus Christ Himself were the manager. I chose two stars in lieu of one star because my interaction with the initial rep was solid, and the price was the best in the area.

Finding repair shops that are competent in maintaining these vehicles, without breaking your budget can be challenging. My Prius Plug-in has a little over 91,000 miles now, and I want to be proactive in staying a step or two ahead of any issues. The repair guys at Apex Auto Care (Located in Waldorf, Maryland) are an outstanding resource for Prius owners (and other vehicle models too) in this regard. They're astute with the uniqueness of the Prius Egr system, and make repairs seem almost routine (despite the complexity). They walk you through the repair process, and even share images of the working area of your vehicle for context, in real time. Their prices are very fair, the facility is clean and organized, and they're located in Southern Maryland, which is very convenient for me. I used to travel to Northern Virginia for competent Prius maintenance for years, but since learning about and soliciting Apex Auto, that's no longer necessary. Anyhow, ask for Bob Beavers. He's the man!
