But thankfully their main area was tasteful and had a perfect atmosphere for New Years Eve. We ordered the following apps: 1. Arroz negro (black squid ink rice with cuddlefish): absolutely delicious 10/10 2. Carbonara croquettes: this is the Second time we ordered this and just as good 10/10 3. Crispy fried artichokes: absolutely lovely, light and airy 10/10 For mains: 1. Oxtail paella: delicious, and unique. Great for those who don't like seafood. Huge shareable size. 10/10 2. Duck breast: small portion but tasty. 8/10 3. Snapper with fennel: delicious especially the fennel side. Dessert: 1. Chocolate mousse: not bad, but not life changing. 7/10 2. Labneh with saffron syrup and crunchy honey: out of this world. What a unique and unexpected delight. It was a special of the day but we hope they bring this back, it's too good and nothing like it anywhere else! 20/10 Beverages: 1. Holiday shot in souvenir glass: tbh I only got this for the glass but the shot was okay: espresso, mint liqueur and orange liqueur. It was heavy on the mint which I wasn't a huge fan of. 8/10 3. Macchiato 10/10-really love the china cups they are served on--it elevates the experience.

Martinez was awesome--super friendly and made the experience even better. The bartenders definitely don't skimp on the pours, which was a nice surprise, and prices felt very reasonable for Coral Gables. I had the pan con tomate, which was a great portion for $8, and a Negroni for $9. Only small downside was that it felt a little warm inside, but overall a really enjoyable experience. Would definitely come back.

This place isn't too bad, the ambiance is pretty relaxing since it's close to the water. The…read moreservice was good, since everyone was really friendly. We started with a tinto de verano and it was pretty good. The food, however wasn't great. The cod croquettes were really salty. The ham croquettes were a little bit less salty. The papas bravas were a little bit too salty as well. The bocata de jamón hardly had any tomato but the bocata de chorizo was better. The pulpo gallego was the best dish we had. The paella de pollo y verduras wasn't great either. It was a bit dry. The only thing that we liked about this restaurant was the location. If I return, I'll order something else.

You order at the counter, and they call you to pick up the food. Frozen lemonade in a plastic cup $8.90. For appetizers we ordered Fried Calamari (they were hard) and Pescaito Frito (sardines) $14.90. We were a party of 4 and wanted the seafood paella - unfairly paella can only be ordered by 2 and they charge $28.90 per person regardless of whether 4 people can eat from 1 paella (they can). We ended up with tons of paella left. Again, the calamari/squid was hard. The shrimp were large and nicely cooked. With tip the total bill was over $210. Outrageous !

After looking at the reviews I presented Mareva 1939 as my top choice. I contacted them and made a reservation for 10 people, and after the first reservation time I had to adjust with Mareva for people arriving in late because of flights. No problem for Mareva and they didn't need a deposit for the restaurant. It is in the National Hotel, next to where we are staying box 1 check. The place was beautifully decorated and staff all attentive throughout the night. That was my criteria not my boss' since the lack of good service can destroy a great meal. The food choices all were excellent but centered on tapas and Spanish cuisine which checked the second box. Served family style we all chose a number of different tapas and shared. Then large patella dishes, they were plentiful and all delicious. Lastly the price, which may seem high for those outside the area but not for those who know Miami Beach. The bill for the 10 of us that included several drinks person and enough food and desserts to leave us full came to $1,002 including tip and taxes. All boxes checked and my boss and team happy, Mareva 1939 was a huge success.
