This desert has to go to the hall of fame ..one of the BEST I ever had in CG.
    Carlo V.

3 of us Came for lunch on a Friday the place was not crowded, the service was outstanding, everybody in there was very attentive and professional. The location is beautiful and so is the dining room. Everything was top, our Fish, the appetizer, the Desert was AMAZING EXCEPTIONAL!........except the Fries ...NASTY , Dear Michelle , please fix this , they look like bar fries from from a biker bar in the Everglades, small and burned , over fried and very shiny with oil like fried on old oil , there are very good fries in town , like fast food places, or shorty bbq, etc...there are ways to make plain nice and golden yellow fries , lightly salted and beautiful...not the ones here ...by FAR . I will be coming back , I have been in just about every good restaurant in Miami and some bad ones too, ....since 1990, this place is one of the god ones , I have also witnessed a lot of restaurants come an go in that corner of the Gables , I wish yours is here to stay , been your fan since your Chef days at the fancy BLUE in the now defunct Mandarin Hotel in Brickell Key.

Señora Martinez, the new restaurant in Coral Gables by chef Michelle Bernstein, offers a stylish and lively atmosphere, with live music on weekends. The happy hour prices are reasonable, but the "mini cocktails" and small bites are truly miniature, making them feel a bit expensive for the portion size. Overall, it is a beautiful addition to Coral Gables and a great spot to enjoy an upscale dining experience.

Came here for the HH and catch up with a close friend. Chose this place because of Michelle's fried chicken. That's the best thing we had at this place too. Drinks and the other apps were just ok. Too much ice in the margarita and the mini espresso martini is really a shot lol. We couldn't enjoy our time there because the mosquitos wouldn't leave us alone. They really need to do something about that. The decor and live music is so inviting too. It's a shame we had to go next door to finish our dinner.

    Great live band!

Came here through a recommendation from Our hotel concierge for a place with live music. Restaurant decor was the first thing that caught my attention. The seating and attention to detail was nice. We enjoyed the music from the live band on a Friday night. The service was great! From the front hostess to our servers. They were attentive and accommodating (seating us near the band when we mentioned we were here to watch them play) We ordered appetizers and drinks. All were amazing!! Flavor and portions were awesome! My only gripe is I wish the drinks had ally less ice. It was mostly ice and barely and liquid which made me feel cheated. I would definitely come back here hungry to try some of the main dishes as I heard great things from others seated near us and the concierge who recommended the restaurant.

This Coral Gables establishment kind of snuck up on me. I hadn't heard of it, and didn't know it once existed (in a different iteration though). I'm happy to find it now in its current elegant state. The bar is beautiful and would make a great backdrop to a date night. The restaurant was full of people enjoying their happy hour. They have other specials that run throughout the week. We ordered a couple of dishes to share but I will say the stand out was the mussels. The sauce was outstanding, we wanted to sop up every last bit. The bartender Harry was a breath of fresh air.

Love that this place offered live music and that some couples were dancing. You don't find very many places anymore that offer that kind of vibe. We ordered their mushroom croquetas, which were my favorite item. The tuna carpaccio was good but comes almost as a bit of a paste. We did not like the pear and walnut salad as it had a bitter taste to it, but that was us just not realizing that endive is actually bitter. The duck had a great flavor profile with a nice salty/sweet combination. For dessert, I would recommend Michy's bread pudding - delish!

Stop by here late night to hear some live music and have a few drinks and this was an excellent choice. The appetizer that we order tasted amazing. Drinks were spot on. Service was so nice and accommodating. There was an absolutely ridiculous guy behind us talking about the apps were heavy complaining the chef. ( Wrote that because I hope he see this one day)

    Miami spice dessert

Like many old-time Miamians, we remember fondly Michelle Bernstein's previous restaurants, Michy's and Sra. Martinez -the latter is now finally revived in Coral Gables. We went there for a Miami Spice dinner. Fault is on us for checking the menu on the Miami Spice site but not the one on the restuarant's site, as there has been significant changes, and some of the dishes that I looked forward to were no longer on the Spice menu. I do understand that availability and other factors can affect supply, especially if it's a better restaurant that doesn't use all frozen, unseasonal ingredients. Nonetheless it was a bit of a disappointment. We really like the interior. The chairs and sofa are very comfortable. There was a live band which made conversation a bit difficult, but overall the atmosphere was really nice. For appetizer we tried the chicken liver pate and the shrimp cake. I had expected the shrimp cake to have a texture like a crab cake, lumpy with fresh meat, instead of something more akin to a hot pot fish cake. I totally love the pillowy soft beignet, my husband and I almost fought over them lol. That said I don't feel it had much synergy with the chicken pate, it felt more like eating dessert as a first course. The oxtail paella is worth the extra, so rich and flavorful, if a bit on the salty side. I did like my mushroom dish with its Middle-Eastern spices. My friend liked his snapper as well, We were not thrilled that both the baked Alaska and bread pudding were off the Spice dinner menu, those were the two I was looking forward to trying. Nonetheless, the budino and penna cotta were a satisfactory finish to a lovely dinner. Service was nice, and the restaurant did fill up so do make reservation ahead. Parking is plentiful with street parking and garage nearby.

I've been looking forward to trying out this place. The place is beautiful, soft pinks and greens throughout, palms, and a laid back style. We sat at the bar booths, for happy hour. I had a mule mocktail and it was delicious. My two friends had their mini espresso martinis and passionfruit margaritas with tajin and they seem to like them. Upon until this point things were good, but then the mosquitoes started, since the doors were open and it was a bit of a warm humid night. Also, sitting next to the plants seems to me that some sort of repellent would've been good to have nearby. Anyhow, we tried to make the best of it in ordered the charcuterie tray, and it was OK wasn't very varied mainly cheeses and the toasts were stale and hard. Their fried chicken sandwich was delicious. (Pic not shown, it was devoured) Definitely a highlight. But the fried artichokes were not good, flavor was off. Service was good, but not great. Might give them another chance and maybe sit closer to the stage. They had live music but again it wasn't a standout.

Came here with co-workers for happy hour. So happy we did because this has become one of my favorite spots! The ambiance will take you back to old Florida. Their happy hour has specials for food and drinks. The cocktails are perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. We came here for the happy hour and after looking over the menu we decided to stay for dinner. We just had to try that oxtail Paella with bone marrow. The cherry tomatoes they put in top was perfect because the acidity cut the incredible richness of this dish. The carrots were perfectly cooked and the bread pudding was to die for. Five hours later we walked out of there talking about how we can't wait to come back. We had such a great time.

Perfection! Wow I wasn't expecting it to live up to any hype but wow! Every single thing ordered was better than the one before and the staff??? They were great! Made great recommendations and were super attentive! We ordered croquettes marisco and they were a hit Followed by pan con tomate which was delish!! Then the fish and chips which was enormous and I shared with my sister because I could never eat that all. I've travelled all over the UK and have NEVER had any fish and chips that's even come close!! Wow!!! The giant beans and sausage made all else fail in comparison Our mom had the prawns with mashed potato on side and those were excellent as well Needless to say we will be back. Ps. Full bar with excellent selection of wines and cava. Truly a wonderful dinner

Great place for a group dinner. We got seated near the live band, so it was a little difficult to hear people across the table, so keep that in mind. Their steak tartare is really good, and paella is the house favorite which I would also recommend. The dish is shallow so might not be enough for two people. They have mocktails which are decent as well.

Another gem by Michelle Bernstein! A really good restaurant in every way. Loved the food obviously - how can you not with chef Michelle? The ambiance and service were top notch, very spacious dining room with comfortable seating. It's a tiny bit pricier than I would have liked. But I will definitely be back.

As soon as we sat down, I politely asked if we could be moved. The manager then told me that I had booked bar seating, which is simply not true. Why would anyone reserve bar seating a month in advance for Valentine's Day? I checked my reservation confirmation myself and it never stated that, and I even tried making another reservation to verify ..bar seating wasn't even an option. He told us he would "see what he could do," and we were left waiting at the bar with no water, no menus, no service, and no communication whatsoever. Meanwhile, we watched multiple couples get seated at proper tables back-to-back. At one point, we even overheard another couple say their reservation was at the same time as ours, and they were seated at a table immediately. When I tried to politely ask for an update, the manager or owner completely ignored me. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I was honestly in shock at how disrespectful and dismissive they were. We ended up getting up and leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special, and this restaurant completely ruined that experience.

Unlike some other reviewers that scoffed at the prices of the wine, that didn't bother me so much. We had a bottle here that cost $55 and it retails for about $28; I was OK with that, as all restaurants and wine bars have a markup above retail, and even when you go to spots like Happy Wine or El Carajo and pick out a bottle to drink while in their shop, they charge a corkage fee for that. What I did have a problem with is that, after the "service charge" and other fees were added on, our $55 bottle rang up to more than $73 in total, which was ludicrous. When we first arrived at Magie we were met by a young guy who pointed out the bottles and where the various charcuterie items are located in the coolers, and we were then pretty much left on our own. We really just wanted a glass of wine each, but unlike places like Vinoteca, here at Magie they had a very limited selection of wines by the glass, and the ones available all seemed to come in single-serve cans. We picked out a bottle to share, went to the register, paid and the guy opened it and handed us 2 glasses. When I returned to get napkins, the guy just motioned to where the napkins were so I could grab my own (after moving a delivery cart out of the way by myself so I could reach them). Again, though this place includes an automatic "service charge", we received zero actual "service" unless one considers the 45 seconds it takes to uncork our bottle and charge us for the purchase. We had a seat, had a glass of wine each and then re-corked our bottle of wine and took it with us. Overall I think Magie is a great concept with lots of potential. The inside seating area is interestingly decorated and outfitted with lots of eclectic furniture and items on the walls, and the relatively large patio seating out front with tables for 2 to 8 people is shielded from the adjacent street/traffic and shaded by lots of trees and greenery. The ambiance overall is really very nice. The service, however, was non-existent, especially considering the automatic charge for that, and while prices of at least some wines aren't terribly out of line, the fact that all the service charges, taxes and fees added $20 to the cost of our bottle was a bit of a shocker. Magie should consider adding more wines by the glass IMO. Not just subpar quality single-serve cans, but decent wines, poured from a proper bottle with a topper that preserves the wine between pours like most every quality wine bar commonly offers. Lastly, while I don't think anyone expects linen napkins and white glove service, the paper plates and plastic cutlery customers are given to eat with are a bit off vs. what this place appears to be trying to be and the prices charged. The "F*ck Brunch" positioning statement on the back of the staffs' shirts was an interesting touch.

The first location in the River is better imo because the location is bigger, there is plenty more seating than the Grove location. Although, I still enjoyed my time at this location as well. Sooo how it works is that you go inside and pick a bottle of wine from the fridges. You can also order by the glass if you aren't a big drinker or if you want to try different wines. The bottles are moderately priced depending on your selection. We chose an orange wine and it was nice, very refreshing, you can really get that citrus essence with every sip. Another thing that they have is that you can pick different cheeses and meats and they will build you a charcuterie board. I love this because it is all based on your selection, nothing will go to waste. They also have food you can order. A lot of people love the nuggets with caviar. I think they are decent imo but I'm not like in love with them. Parking can be a bit annoying... If there isn't street parking, you can also park in the garage. The service was good, the staff was friendly. The only thing that was a hassle was getting a table. We had to wait a bit in order for a table to become available. Overall, this spot is a very cozy place to hang and mingle with friends.

They have great service offering inside and outside seating and a Flamenco show on Saturday nights. The staff was, friendly, helpful and attentive. The vibe is excellent. Everyone here is ready to eat well and have a lovely time. No sooner had we sat down, our server took our drink order and immediately brought it out. We chose a Spanish Urbión Rioja reserva wine and it was quite delectable. We also ordered 2 Coke zeros. For our starters, we selected: * 2 Chips de Berenjena. Eggplant chips, flash fried and drizzled with honey. These are the best!!! So delicious, we ordered 2 servings and everyone in the restaurant was ordering them. * Fried Calamari with a very tasty aioli sauce. * Gulas de Ajillo Baby eels cooked in garlic sauce and olive oil - delicious. This dish is very special to us because my Husband eats it every time we visit Barcelona. * Pulpo a la Plancha - Grilled octopus with creamy black rice made of calamari ink. The rice was excellent, absolutely luscious. * Pulpo a la Gallega. Boiled octopus and boiled potatoes drizzled with paprika and olive oil. For our Mains we ordered the * Filet Mignon with blue cheese sauce and boiled potatoes. This dish was just OK. The potatoes weren't seasoned, only boiled. The steak had no char and was overdone for a filet. My Husband also ordered * Patatas a la Giralda - their twist on patatas bravas with two homemade signature sauces. These were crispy, and delicous. Served underneath the 2 sauces. * I ordered Grilled Chicken with salad. I was taken aback by the server for food shaming me to order something pricier, not just basic chicken. That's not cool. I also got a side of * Patatas - fried steak fries, very crunchy paired well with our food. For dessert we had * Crema Catalana, which is a Spanish syle Crème brûlée. This dessert has probably been the smallest dessert I've ever ordered. Not to mention, the consistency, the taste and color was all wrong. It was as if you had a Jello vanilla pudding with a miniscule amount of hardened caramelized sugar. Definitely not getting this desert again. I'd like to try the Tarta de Santiago next time. Once our food arrived the Flamenco show began and it was glorious!! The lead male vocalist was phenomenal! His vocal range and guitar skills were admirable. The show began with singing first and then the dancer started. She was a personable, very talented dancer and performer. At one point she locked eyes with me and before I knew it I was up there dancing with her, which was so much fun! I really enjoyed this restaurant and recommend it to open minded people who enjoy food from Spain.

They sell bottles of wine, imported olive oils, lots of (mostly European) wines by the glass, and light bites like charcuterie, small pizzas and popcorn. We've come here a few times, our dog was welcome, staff were friendly and outgoing, offering us various tabletop games like tic-tac-toe to pass the time, and once we'd both ordered a few glasses of wine, they offered us complimentary popcorn - something they normally charge for. Wines on their "by the glass" menu average about $16 each, and most staff pour them behind the bar where they have a gauge to measure out each one. The food prep area behind the bar is quite small (which is why they don't have a large menu), but so is this little gem of a wine spot in general. It's cozy, eclectic and great for a glass of wine and a small snack, or a nightcap after having dinner elsewhere. It's good for singles at the bar, or an intimate spot for couples and smaller groups. Vinoteca seems to have found their niche, and they've filled it quite nicely. That said, I'm not sure the staff, at least the ones working on the nights we've come, have a lot of knowledge about wines or are in the position to talk at length about their various selections.
