Best thing about Page Mill is that they're dog-friendly! Oh and all the wines are excellent. I'm especially fond of the Syrah, Pinot Noir and the Sauvignon Blanc....my new favorite that hasn't been released is their Petit Syrah. Repeat after me, ALL HAIL THE PINOT, ALL HAIL THE PINOT. there was a time that before some stupid movie about a neurotic, wine-snob-of-a-wimpy-woosy guy & his washed up actor, under-sexed buddy took a road trip to the San Louis Obispo wine country that you could get a decent bottle of Pinot Noir for under $30.00. Thanks a whole bunch Hollywood! Now that everyone's jumped on the "Sideways" bandwagon you've got good Russian River Pinot's going for $40, $50 & over $75 a bottle. For a classic French Burgundy I can take that but for a wimpy little California Pinot that somebody thought would be a great idea to stick in an oak barrel for 18 months, get a local artist to draw a fancy label & have me put his kids through private school?? NOT! So on my more recent trip from Home Depot to the drug store & home I had to stop by Livermore's newest resident, Dane & Dick Stark of Page Mill Winery. Page Mill? That's in Palo Alto you ask & yes, you are/were correct. It's not only a great address if your a VC firm it also was the prior home, in their home, since the mid-70's. They moved into an old barn in Livermore, dressed it up & gave it a kind of French, brothelishy kinda parlor atmosphere but looks aside they make one mean MFin' Pinot & yes...it's from the Santa Maria Highlands (Sideways) region too. Suvie Blanc ain't bad neither, their Chards are a tad oaky for my tastes, their Syrah's a total sleeper (sit on that sucker for a year or two & you'll be very happy) & their Cab & Merlot are pretty damn tasty too. Another nice winery. We arrived in the later half of the afternoon. We were fortunate to try the regular and the wine club wine tasting. The Zinfandel was outstanding though they sold out of all their cases. The merlot was also a winner, which I was able to purchase. read more

Went here on the afternoon of New Year's eve with a friend for some pre-evening wine tasting. The place had a good amount of business going on, but our service was still pretty good. The wines are great, the tasting price is only $15 which is about on par with the other wineries in the area. The staff was friendly, and we were allowed to take our time and they had a good knowledge of the wine. Would definitely be on my list for a repeat visit when I'm in Livermore next :) read more

I came here to celebrate my birthday. Page Mill was extremely accommodating! We came to celebrate during a rainy, cold day; however, the heated, covered patio was excellent. We were able to bring in outside food for a picnic. Only 4 stars since I didn't care for the wine, but I would definitely come back here! read more

Wines were good but service was bored or boring, however you want to look at it. This was the third winery that we were visiting that day. We found it after stopping at the fruit stand across the street for some fresh nectarines. The tasting room was in a cool building, and was quiet and cool inside - a nice rest from the hot sun outside. There was another group of two couples already tasting, and that's all the pourers seemed to care about. When we tried to ask for information about the wines, we got short answers. And when one of the other couples said they lived in Lichtenstein, we lost all hope of the pourer ever saying anything other than just "which one are you on again?" I really did like the wines, including that they had a couple of rosé's that were "Angela's cuvee" which of course made me want to learn more. Fortunately for me, there were plenty of articles posted on the wall to read, since the employees were so unimpressed by us being there wanting to try their wines... read more

This was the second stop on my girlfriend and my wine tasting trip to Livermore yesterday. This place has a smaller tasting room. It's a little bit dark and more reminiscent of a bar than a tasting room at a winery. They did have an outdoor seating area, but we were there early, and there was no crowd so we drank inside. The tasting here cost $5, and we got to sample 6 wines. The fee would be waived if we had bought a bottle. My girlfriend and I both favor red wine over white. However, neither of us liked any of the red wines featured in the tasting flight. The GPS wine (a blend of Grenache, Petite Syrah, and Syrah) was not very good. I actually wanted to spit it out. The white wines were nice, but overall we were disappointed in the flight. On the plus side, our pourer was really friendly and gave us some good advice about where to go for lunch. They also had really good brownies to snack on. They also had several olive oils and some pieces of bread which were available for sampling too. They also have a very cool sounding event called BYOB where you can bring your own empty bottles (that you have cleaned) and fill them with their latest creation. This definitely sounds like a fun and innovative event. Overall, we weren't crazy about the wines, but we did enjoy our time here. read more

I came to Page Mill for the first time last Friday with my dad and my boyfriends family. We were welcomed by Debbie as soon as we walked in who was working behind the Tasting Room bar. I have been told that the Tasting Room was moved/remodeled, and it looks great inside! Nice and small (as are most family owned wineries in Livermore) with TONS of merchandise! There are a few tables and about 15-20 chairs outside in the back out looking the vineyards. We tasted about 7 or so wines. My favorites were the Chardonnay, Petite Syrah and Syrah. They had some bread for olive oil tasting as well as some little chocolate brownies, which helped refresh my palate for the next winery. I will definitely be back another time, I thoroughly enjoyed Page Mill! read more

A tasting bar with room for around 10-12 comfortably. Casual shopping to browse while you taste including the ugliest ceramic shoe 'wine holders' you will ever see. :) We had an expanded tasting menu, including many of the reserves. I often found the reserves to be worse than the standard wines. The overall pricing was fair. But... Page Mill is a typical Livermore winery - overly fruit forward and sweet wines. It's hard to strike a balance when you have such a hot wine region. I think they are middle of the pack in Livermore, so 3/5. Plus ladies - the restroom is an outhouse. My wife was not happy with this. read more

Originally started in Palo Alto/Los Altos Hills, this winery moved to its current Livermore location. Personally, I didn't like the whites very much, but the reds were very good. I really liked the Syrah and Petite Syrah. The port was also delicious! What they do with their port is that they continually add from the previous years port to the current port - so the port was from grapes from 1996 to present - and this has made it into a good balance: not too sweet, but still port. Yum! Tasting fee was $5 waived if you buy a bottle. Definitely a good place to try and everyone was very friendly. Tasted 7 wines. read more

Fun winery, it was started in some guy's basement who lived on Page Mill Rd in Palo Alto. The location is right off of the main highway, so tricky getting in there. The Granache blend they were serving was very good, I think it was called the GPS. We also tried some wine out of the barrels in French Oak vrs. Amercian Oak. It was interesting to see the differences. The tasting room inside was packed, we were barely able to walk through. It is a small location, but a cool tasting room, and a little bit nicer inside compared to some of the more 'Rural' wineries out there. This would be one of the few places I would come back to. read more

I absolutely adore Page Mill's Pinot Noirs. Beyond that the rest are just ok for me. As a wine person you learn that not all wine works for everyone. I have been drinking their wines a little over 2 yrs and having this opportunity to be in Livermore I set out to locate them. I passed the freaking place twice. It's funny how your perception of what a winery should be based on their labeling. I suppose that's what makes them great. In Europe, Petrus is a just about the same size but the wine is legendary. Any way, the tasting room is small. It almost feels like you're walking into a cave it's dim in lighting, a small tasting bar. Small and mighty they are. The owner was there but, we got crowded quickly. The interesting thing about Dan is he is a soft talker, but the more you stand the more he opens up. He is very conscientious about who he serves and is willing to share the history if asked. I started off by advising him of a photo I saw in the Stanford Barn and the floodgates opened up. read more

+staff is good and helpful -may be we picked the wrong day -it was super crowded -super noisy -not much of shade -no where to sit on hot sunny day -just find yourself little space to stand, drink wine, find space on the counter, refill and leave, not much of experience associated -wines were okay, but hey i don't go to wine tasting to judge wines, i can order everything online. Livermore wine country has grown and I hadn't really connected with a winery until a stumbled across Page Mill Winery. People at Page Mill are down to earth and are not wine snobs! Dane and Gary are the best! They know how to make wine! You can usually find Dane, the owner and winemaker, sitting on the couch talking with customers; And Gary is always behind the bar with a glass of wine and a smile. They are dog-friendly and if you are lucky will be greeted by Molly the little pug mascot of the winery. The wines are excellent and affordable. They are most known for their Pinot and Zinfandel but the Syrah is starting to be a local favorite and when they release their Estate Petite Syrah later this year it will be a huge hit! read more

I've been disappointed lately with the wines I've received via the wine club. I haven't been to the winery itself in awhile, so this review is only of the wines I've had, not the winery itself. I love Page Mill Winery. It's a bit of a hidden gem in my opinion. After tasting their Zin at dinner with friends one night I joined their wine club. Both times that I have tasted at the winery Gary was there. He is friendly and knowledgeable, and volunteered quite a bit of interesting information about Livermore's wine history. The tasting was done in the barrel room which his small and has an intimate atmosphere. A very enjoyable experience. I'll be back soon.... As for the wines, I enjoy them all. However I am especially fond of their Zins and Sauvignon Blanc. In fact I make sure to always have a bottle or two of each on hand. Oh, and the brownies are super tasty... read more

The wine is nothing special. They have a tiny tasting room. We had a group of 4 and when the person pouring found out we were not joining the wine club, she walked away. The last two pours we learned nothing about the wine from the man that poured them for us. If you buy a bottle, you only get $5.00 off from the tasting fee. **THERE is only a nasty port -a-potty HERE.** Stop to use the restroom before you come here. The covered patio filled with space heaters make these rainy days way more tolerable. We stopped by Page Mill this weekend for a club pickup and to celebrate their BYOB event, where you bring in your empty bottle and receive a fill-up for an insanely discounted price! This space gets packed super easily, and on weekends you can expect it to be filled to capacity. The patio alleviates some of the traffic jam, and we spent all our time outside watching the storm and sampling to our heart's content. Our favorite Page Mill wine is the GPS and the Tizetto (spelled wrong, I'm sure), both reds. Their pourers are all friendly and will tell you all about where the grapes come from and will usually even have side-by-side tastings of the same varietal from different years, so you can really taste its evolution. I'll also always love a place that is pet-friendly, and the winery cat is adorable and cuddly here too! read more

I really enjoyed the wines and the tasting staff made it a great experience. A very inexpensive tasting fee for the quality of the wines. If you are planning a trip into the Livermore wine country, this is one place you must stop. They also do a BYOB on select sundays. As a wine lover who was tasted in napa, sonoma, and Santa Cruz I found this working winery to be an excellent example of what handcrafted artisan wines are all about. You can drive up to napa and see the factory wines bv makes or taste what a small production wine tastes like. A wine where the wine maker has personally touched each grape. My only complaint is the music. read more

As our day went along the wineries got better, this was our third stop and the redone old barn was quite quaint. The people behind the bar and the others that were tasting along with us were all talkative. Little things like this always make for a better wine tasting experience. My wife and I came here yesterday for the 3rd Sunday BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle). Geraldine served us in the tasting room, and was very friendly and helpful. After tasting a number of the wines, we went to the barn next door where we met the winemaker and filled up 2 bottles ($8.99 each) of their table wine. This is a nice winery to hit up. There is also seating on the outside too. Every 3rd Sunday you can bring in a rinsed empty bottle to have them refill it with wine for $9.99. The wine server also mentioned that the place offers sessions on what to look for when drinking wine for club members. Maybe I tasted different wine than everyone else but beside the funky curtained, oriental rugged interior, there was little left to be desired from this tasting. We came with friends on a Monday of a holiday weekend and it was one of the few wineries actually open, a plus for them. There were very few of their own wines and the only ones we actually found drinkable weren't even their label. Maybe things have changed over the past couple years since they first opened. I'll have to give them another try. read more

Another great addition to Livermore, they moved from off of Page Mill Road on the Peninsula (above Stanford) 2-3 years ago and set up shop. They have a beautiful and rich tasting room, small but detailed with long velvet curtains hanging down screening the wine barrels. These guys do Pinots and Syrahs, showing that while they've physically reolcated to Livermore they're still procuring and producing the wines of the central coast. Livermore is a fast developing wine region and they have some fantastic producers there. If you're into wine get out there fast before everyone else discovers it and it becomes another Napa. read more
