The staff are ok but the restaurant needs to be reopened. When local resident and entrepreneur, Mr. Jim Sheehan developed the business 20 years ago, he built the campground and also rented out lake side cabins. Better than RV camping!! Alas, Hurricanes Francis and Charlie chewed up the entire area, including all his beautiful wood cabins and even damaged the huge Herbert Hoover dike ( in 1930's) which surrounds the entirety of Lake Okechobee. There are a couple of the cabins still available for rent, through Airbnb.

My brother and I both were there often and I met many other folks who lived in a campground also. It was a wonderful experience to meet so many people from all the different skill sets of life. The fishing was great a meeting so many people that just seemed like normal regular everyday people, but they came from many different exclusive companies at made America run. They were all retired, but you couldn't really tell one from another because everyone got along and there was no fighting or bickering. It just seemed like a place that stood still in time and no one complained about politics or anything else, but talked a lot about fish. That's what I really liked about Belglade Marina and Campground. My brother and I came here with my son who have been shot at work and was in a wheelchair and I wanted to take him guide fishing, but it was hard to locate someone that would take him on the boat as you never know what could happen. We happen to know one of the guides from when my father was alive and in the area and he took care of us. I was a little afraid about going then, but it worked out great. It was during the time that the hurricane hit New York and passed us by heading up north while we were fishing on Lake Okeechobee. I was afraid it would be really hard but guide knew how to stay on one side of a bunch of grass and clean up that area with a couple of bass here and there. It was as if nothing changed. Everyone got along and we fish that day and went on back to our house In Largo, Florida.

CONS: We have stayed at many parks and understand that the service isn't as good as our home, but the internet here has been the worst we have seen. Free wireless internet is unreliable and at times unavailable. No other internet options available (cable or dsl internet does not service campground area). Campground states that the internet is being upgraded; however they have been telling the campers that for years with no improvement. Water has rust particles. Be sure to use filter before introduction to your rv water system. Would we return? Yes, but only with internet improvements or options.

We stopped by on a weekday and the park was pretty and relaxing. Not too many people on the couple of trails we did. The observation tower is closed but they still have a nice boardwalk up to that area that makes for a great walk! It's pretty highly elevated for Florida - kind of impressive in person! Entry is $6 per car, and the lady provided a map and recommended her favorite trail. We checked that trail out as well (the white trail), but the height of the observation tower trail was really the star! We decided to drive around after doing both trails, and we saw their campgrounds. So surprising at how busy this place was! It seemed there was hardly an empty spot! Must be a happening place to camp! We'd definitely return for more adventures, as this is a cool park!

There's a lot of construction going on and a trailer that hauls in equipment parked at the empty site next to us when there is a whole row of empty rv sites. Our grill looks like it's been through WW2. And has no propane in it. People take their big dogs to the dog park and don't clean up after them. On the plus side the pool is nice. Most of the rv sites are big rig friendly. The town of Jensen Beach is quaint and within walking distance. I'm not entirely sure if I would recommend this place. They charge 3,400.00 a month for a rv site! At this price I would expect a lot more than what is offered. Like walking distance to the beach!

First off parking is free and you can purchase ti keys before or at the park-same price whatever you choose. Come in costume cause everyone is dressed up. Every weekend is a different theme so check their website out. There was so much to see and do and eat and just be present for. We saw it all amd tried to drink as mu h as we could too..lol Bring cash as most vendors its there preference. Aside from the glorious fest that you can catch the whole month and comes once a year; The park is huge with water sports, biking, walks, relaxing,picnics and more. This is a free primitive campground (no hookups) managed by the South Florida Water Management District. While free, it does require a Special Use Application and License (which is also free). The Special Use License secures 1 of the 14 licenses available per day, and also gives you access to the gate code for entry; the camp host did check that we had one. The campground is far from traffic noise, and each site is large and picturesque. The family campground is for tent and pop-up camping only. No trailers, camper vans, truck campers, or RVs are permitted for camping. A maximum of two vehicles are allowed per campsite. While we have a Class B RV, we followed the rules and set up our tent for overnight camping. Each site offers a picnic table and fire ring. The Family Campground has clean composting toilets. A full-service bath house with hot showers and flushing toilets are available for use in the Equestrian Campground. The DuPuis Management area offers camping, picnicking, fishing, hiking, bicycling, geocaching, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, and hunting during specific seasons. We had only one issue -- and that was that our GPS took us to the wrong, locked entry gate but we figured it out.

We were able to put our big ole truck next to the rig easily. It was super quiet and everyone was friendly. The owners are very kind and caring. They seem like they enjoy what they are doing. The only reason I gave this park a four instead of a four five is there are no laundry facilities or bath house. Although we didn't need either, it's good to know in advance so you can be prepared. It takes about 15 minutes to get into town. Not many good restaurants nearby but we decided to cook. We also perused the flea market. Okeechobee is a truly unique place where everyone says hello, holds the door open and is friendly.

Every site is paved with manicured landscaping. Plants in between sites provide privacy. 50 amps FHU, big rig friendly. There are gators in the lake, so you don't want to swim in the lake! Wifi, outdoor pool, pet friendly, gated. Although not many amenities, but there is a big tiki by canal equipped with outdoor seating, great for chilling and hanging out with friends. Big dog park for our fur baby to run freely. Dog bags are provided through out the park, very thoughtful. However there's no trash by the dog park or anywhere near by to throw away. Can only go to big dumpster. We love this park! It's a great location for weekend getaway for us. We are thinking of coming here once a month!

I wanted to see lake Okeechobee from the ground for the first time. I'm glad that I did. It's very peaceful and there are some birds and fish to watch. I think I'll look for some camp sites nearby to do some weekend camping at. I have three dogs so they'll have to be pet friendly. Look forward for those reviews if I find something, which I'm pretty sure that I will. Very pleasant visit.
