Cozy little spot in Saint Germain, Paris that will give you a true experience of what eating fondue really is. You must reserve, otherwise it can lead you to a long wait. Once you're in, you may be seated in the main floor or take to their basement, which I've heard it's like being transported to a wine cellar/cave like area. The fondue is beyond good. Food and atmosphere are really good, we spent a very nice evening. The only downside maybe is that the owners obviously try to pack the place as much as possible. We were a party of 5. We were static we were granted entry on a busy night w/out reservations but we're highly disappointed when they had nothing besides dread to dip into the cheese. Yum!! Best meal I had in Paris :) We tried to make a reservation the day of, but the only time slot they had available was 9:30pm so we ended up having a late dinner. The restaurant has a very home-y feel to it, and the employees were very friendly. They have an English menu, which is a plus. Cheese melted to the perfect consistency in the pot and had a nice sharp taste. I'm a huge fan of cheese, and this is probably the best cheese I've ever had in my life. So first thing to know is to definitively make reservations before you come here otherwise you probably won't get a seat in the night. This place is known for their fondue but we didn't like the idea of getting raw meat and cooking it in oil so we went for the raclette where you heat up the cheese in a little pan and then pour it over potatoes, cured meat, and bread. It was a fun experience melting the cheese ourselves and watching it ooze everywhere. The decor I thought was little strange...it felt like we were sitting in almost a cave. Bread, wine and cheese? Don't mind if I fondue. Of all the places I ate at in Paris, this was hands down my favorite experience. Nevermind the fact that this place is totes adorbs and the waiter was even more totes adorbs, the food here is nothing short of outstanding. In fact, when people ask me how my trip to France was, I mention this restaurant somewhere among the Louvre and the Catacombs. Art, death and food...there isn't much else, is there? The experience started when we walked in. the waiter/host asked (in French, as this is Paris) if we had a reservation in French, II forgot myself and the $60k it cost me to graduate with a French major and replied back in English "do we need one?" The waiter smiled warmly and said "right this way please." He led us downstairs to a stone-walled basement section that looked positively medieval -- but in a très charmant way. The restaurant was full of an international cast of diners, French, Spanish, UK, and of course, us, the Americans. I decided that either boded very well (world acclaim?) or really badly (tourist trap?). Fortunately, I am pretty sure it's the former and not the latter. The food and service reminded me that I probably just think too much. We ordered a plate of mixed ham and the savoyard fondue, along with the requisite bottle of French wine, Jean Baptiste Adam's Alsatian Pinot Noir. The wine was a perfect compliment. I took a picture of the label so I'd remember it, though somehow I doubt I'm going to find it at my local Kappy's Package Discount. Deciding the copious bread we'd be eating couldn't POSSIBLY be enough of a carb overload, we also got raclette. It's a chunky potatoes au gratin, basically, but so creamy and smooth. You won't find this just anywhere, but it's French comfort food at its best. Like I said previously, the service was great. The waiter had the whole restaurant, about 16 full tables ranging from two to six diners, upstairs and downstairs. What's funny is I expected him to be absent and aloof, but really, he was always around when we needed him. Though it was clear this guy was working his rear off, he was always very helpful, super-friendly and despite getting a hold of myself to remember that I do, in fact, speak French, he cheerfully responded in English. So, that tells me if you don't speak French well or at all, you'd be just fine here. Not that I advocate going to a foreign country without at least some knowledge of the language. But far be it for me to tell anyone how to live (but if you find yourself lying in a ditch, remember I told you so). But I digress... Dessert was pretty good, though it may seem rather trite, I finished with a crème brulée. I mean, I am in France and it's not as though I've ran into too many American eateries that can seem to get it right. And yeah, as expected, it was very good. Ryan got gateau á trois chocolat, which I stole a bite of. Very yummy. Really, the only thing I have to complain about was knowing I wouldn't be having it again any time soon since I have to go to Paris to get it...otherwise I'd be eating there once a month. My sister is a fan of raclette- something she picked up from a friend who lived in Belgium and Paris. I'd never tried it, but did some research and found this place. It's a tiny, two story spot (like almost everywhere in Paris) on a small alley. Two cab drivers didn't know the location! Thank goodness Yelpers had suggested making reservations, otherwise we would not have dined here. They open at 7pm, and we were told if we could come at 7 we would have until 8:45 to dine. No problem! (We made a same day reservation, in the late afternoon) We arrived a bit early- around 6:45, and they let us come on in and get started. We obviously went for the raclette over fondue. They bring the raclette out and place it on your table, plugging it in some outlet, somewhere. You choose which meats you'd like and they come with a platter of cheese, and a bowl of potatoes. You create your "stack" and place it under the heat element of the raclette to melt the cheese. It's a fun concept I've never done, or even seen in the US. Most of the wine was by the bottle, they had only a house white and red by the glass- we both had the house white. It was a Sauvignon blanc or Chenin blanc. The placemats are replicas of a mural that they have painted on the wall. It's a mural of France and it depicts all the places that their meat and wine are from. Pretty neat! Service was friendly, food was good. Make your reservation and try it out! read more

My husband and I had the Savoyard fondue with the mixed meat plate. It was AWESOME. Bread was excellent, though not the 100% best we had in France. The meats were very rich and all were cured, which wasn't obvious to us on the menu. Very good, though. We also had the chèvre salad which was great for breaking up the richness of the fondue. Salad greens could be a larger portion, but it seemed typical perhaps for Europe (we craved more veggies the whole time we were there!). Dessert was yummy. We had 2 cups of tea, both infusions. The selection wasn't great, but my husband was pleasantly surprised with his (it had ginger and maybe lemongrass, we think - it was a Lipton). Savoy white wine was excellent, particularly with the fondue selection. Ambiance is downright amazing in the cellar downstairs. We went at 9:30/10pm and had a reservation made just an hour earlier by our hotel. There were definitely other tourists (5 Canadians sat near us in the cellar) but there were 4 tables of French folks too (one was a group of girls, the others were all couples). Pain, vin, and fromage are life's three greatest pleasures, and this little restaurant on an unassuming side street is a great way to knock out the three bastions of French cuisine in one go. It's a decent value if you're looking for fondue for two - the Savoyarde with bread and potatoes was way more than enough and was absolutely delicious. Contrary to the experiences of other Yelpers, the bread we were given was perfectly fresh (with free refills!) and the portion of potatoes was huge. Still riding the fondue high, we ordered chocolate fondue for dessert, which was an aesthetically pleasing but mildly disappointing arrangement of fruits and melted chocolate on a plate that was definitely not worth the cost. While the restaurant itself does not feel inherently touristy, most customers were not French - worth being aware of if you're looking for something "authentic". Reservations are also absolutely essential. Even on a Wednesday night, parties of two were being turned away. I wish I could give this 3.5 stars as it is a bit overpriced and certainly crowded, but I think my not infrequent daydreaming about the cheese fondue warrants rounding up to a 4. She explained the menu well and made great recommendations for us. Great place for raclette! We sat downstairs and it was fine and cozy - not too hot (at least not at 7 p.m. when they first opened!) We brought our kids and it's not really a kids' place, but we got a good little alcove to sit in away from the main dining area downstairs. Quite simply, this was the best fondue I've ever tasted. We opted for the traditional Savoyard fondue, preceded by a salade mixte and a salade berger. The mixte was enormous and the berger was quite delicious. The fondue, though, was the star of the show. This was our favorite restaurant in Paris! We had dinner here twice during our Parisian vacation and enjoyed ourselves both times. This was a last minute find and I'm so glad we gave it a shot. It's situated off a small side street and it has an adorable storefront. It's small and cozy inside, but I didn't see the downstairs cave area as we were seated in the main dining area. Their salads are excellent (the salade vert comes with copious amounts of garlic with balsamic, so if you don't like garlic you've been warned) and the savoyard fondue was fantastic. My only regret was I got full quickly and couldn't eat more hunks of bread coated in melted cheese! Their desserts are pretty solid as well - we had the creme brule and the apple tart. We got there at 19:50 & was told we could be squeezed in providing we could be finished by 9. As previous reviewers have suggested make a booking, as the couple who were stood outside deliberating when we walked straight in were not so luck in obtaining a table. The guy who served us (who I think was the brother of the owner) was so polite & helpful! He helped us choose the right amount of food. My family of 7 arrived in Paris mid-day, so I took a gamble and walked to the restaurant which was around the corner from our Airbnb, to see if I could secure a reservation for that night. They were able to seat us if we arrived promptly at 1900 and left by 2030. We arrived, were immediately seated downstairs in the most charming stone room that I feel was likely an old wine cellar. The service was prompt, even though it is just two gentleman for the whole restaurant - upstairs and down. We had two pots of cheese fondue, with bread, cured meats, pickles, and potatoes. Both fondues were amazing and we all debated which was our favorite, with no clear winner. The house white wine was a delicious pairing. I saw this place on yelp and trip advisor with great reviews so I had yo try it on my Paris trip. The first night my husband and I went, we were unable to get in without a reservation, even tho we were there at their dinner opening time 7pm sharp.
