We booked a premium, full-service package for a team-building afternoon, but instead of relaxing, my team spent the entire time stressing, moving boxes, and cleaning up after the staff we hired. We aren't trying to be difficult clients; we simply wanted the service we paid for. Instead, we faced a massive burden: The setup was chaotic and late: For a group our size, the policy is a 40-80 minute setup window. The facilitator didn't show up until 1:33 PM for a 2:00 PM start. Her assistant didn't arrive until after the event started. We were left watching the clock, wondering if our event was even going to happen. We had to manage their logistics: The assistant arrived late and without ID. Since we are in a secure office building, she couldn't get in. Instead of the vendor handling this, my team had to stop what they were doing, leave the event space, and go down to the lobby to retrieve her and haul up the supplies she was carrying. Dismissive attitude: Mistakes happen, but the facilitator's attitude made it worse. She was dismissive about being late and shockingly unhelpful regarding her own assistant's supplies. At one point, when asked about the materials her assistant brought, she refused to help, telling us she "couldn't hang onto that." It felt like we were imposing on her, rather than the other way around. My team did the physical labor: Because they were so behind, the setup wasn't done until 2:30 PM--30 minutes into our paid time. To save the event, my colleagues and I had to step in and physically unpack boxes, set up stations, and distribute materials. We paid for a full-service event but ended up doing the heavy lifting ourselves. Contract issues: We paid extra for the "all new supplies" option so our team could keep their materials. Despite this, the facilitator packed up and took many of the paints and brushes back with her. They walked out on the mess: Despite the event starting late due to their tardiness, the facilitator refused to stay a minute past 4:00 PM. She started aggressively cleaning up while people were still painting, then bolted out the door right at 4:00, leaving us to finish the cleanup and break down the boxes. I cannot recommend this vendor. We paid for a fun, stress-free afternoon and instead received a chaotic experience where we had to work as the setup and cleanup crew.

The instructor, Danielle, was attentive and well-spoken, guiding us through the entire process step by step. However, we started few minutes late due to guests running late that day. We were allowed to stay towards the day to finish up if we needed to. As an artist myself, I always enjoy seeing how different instructors demonstrate their techniques. I haven't painted on canvas in quite some time, so this class was a great refresher for me. The bar area was closed for renovation. The last time I visited which was before the pandemic, it was also closed. This made me wonder if renovations are still ongoing. Personally, it didn't bother me since I prefer not to eat or drink while painting, but my friends were a bit disappointed. The bar only had light snacks available (cookies and chips). Hopefully, once renovations are complete, guests who enjoy the full "Paint and Sip" experience will have more options. The instructor assistant took photos of the session however I have yet to find the photos on their Facebook group for that specific session. Good thing, I took photos myself in case this situation happened which it did. I would love to see the photos of that day though. So if you are going for a "real" art experience this may not be your vibe. This was more a sensory experience, very therapeutic. Our instructor was very thorough. The lighting and aromatherapy was very therapeutic as well. I won't give to much away only that you should try it but I will also warn you if you are doing sculpting you DO NOT take the finished product home with you. From the moment we walked in, the space had such a chill, artsy atmosphere. The instructor was not only super talented, but also so kind and helpful. He walked us step-by-step through the painting, demonstrating each part on a sample canvas and checking in with everyone as we painted. Another group had the same issue. When we finally arrived, there was no apology or attempt to make up for the inconvenience. Calling this a "painting class" is also misleading. You pick a canvas, get a pencil tracing, and then you're basically left to paint on your own. There is virtually no instruction or teaching. Our table was also dirty, with ashes and a clipped joint left behind. And despite paying $65, we didn't even get the full two hours -- we were rushed at the end. For $65, I expect organization, cleanliness, professionalism, and an actual class. This had none of those. Save your money. There are much better ways to spend $

I would highly…read morerecommend participating in one of the many "Marathon's" the school is known for and offers each semester however I would discourage anyone contemplating the MFA or Certificate Program from doing so. Expensive and still not nationally accredited, this school has less than par studio conditions. Bad ventilation in many of the overcrowded work studios and several abusive long time staff members detract from any positive experience. Another problem is the atelier teaching method with few expceptions often corrupts individual talent resulting in work that looks very similar. If you are seeking studio space in NYC there are cheaper options and better MFA programs in the area. Despite all of this there are some extrordinary artists who teach there -- but in my opinion -- definitely not worth the price of admission.
