Fun and enjoyable experience! I have been to Painting Hangout a few times now and its always been 10++/10. You can tell that the instructors and owner genuinely care about leaving a positive impression and go above and beyond. I have 0 artistic experience and the teacher walked me through basic painting principals and would help my group out frequently. The studio recently underwent renovations which in my opinion is very well done and creates a nice enviroment. Came here for an event with some co-workers and had a great time. The manager was charming and did some fun magic tricks for us as the instructor prepared our paint plates. I appreciated that we got to pick out what we wanted to paint, and that there were so many options for what to paint. As we created our masterpieces, we got little individualized tips along the way. Towards the end, I decided to go rogue on my painting, and I still got advice that helped me achieve what I was trying to portray. It was a fun and relaxed time. They provided the canvases, paint, brushes, and smocks. They let us bring our own pizza, snacks, and wine that we got to eat before and during painting. They also came around to refresh our drinks. I came here with co-workers for some bonding time after work and we had an amazing time! Our team has people of all ages (22-64) and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Sam was so kind and welcoming when I initially went through the booking process with him over the phone and clearly loves the Painting Hangout and his job! My friends and I had SUCH a great time at Painting Hangout with Aubrey as our teacher. All 11 of us chose to paint different things, and she still managed to stay engaged with everyone's work and make everyone feel like part of the fun. I went here for a friend's birthday and we had such a great time! The space was large enough for 2 parties of 8, and had a table for holding snacks and drinks. Everything was relatively clean. Sam was a wonderful host and held the fort with entertaining jokes until Kristen and the parties were ready to start painting. Kristen was super helpful and patient with us as she instructed us through the cherry blossom painting. We stayed for a little over 2 hours and our hosts were very hospitable and personable. This place is the best paint & sip spot in NY. Two things that make it stand out: 1) you get to choose your own painting! Most studios don't allow this, so sometimes you can get stuck with a painting you don't necessarily want. There are so many different paintings to pick from when you arrive. 2) Their BYOB includes liquor. I don't even live near Midtown East and this is the only paint spot I'll go to. The price is much better than most paint & sip places in the city and the instructor is super helpful and friendly. They were so patient and accommodating even when we were running late because of the rain. It's the perfect space for a date, birthdays, and other social events. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a last minute date and it was a great experience! We picked out which picture to paint and he taught us step by step how to paint it, which was very thoughtful. Though we were the only the customers, the artist Taso was very accommodated to us. While we were painting, he also showed us magic card tricks which was very cool. I highly recommend this place if you want to have a paint night with your friends, significant other, or family! Taso is very friendly and understanding that it brings out a comfortable atmosphere. We decided to come back again because we wanted to celebrate Valentines Day. My girlfriend was going to the Phillipines for the entire month of February though, thus we would not be able to celebrate it. We went today Jan 30th 2018. Last time in October we were with another group painting Cherry Blossoms, we had a blast. This time we painted a boat by a sunset. We made a last minute reservation and the manager was willing to wait for us to show up and host a class despite it being the end of the day 6PM. The manager is really humble, kind, and accommodating. The experience this second time was very intimate as we booked a one on one session. He not only showed us how to paint but also had conversations with us and even showed us magic card tricks while we were waiting for the paint to dry. I'm planning on coming back again and possibly bringing a friend of mine and his girlfriend to do a double date in the future. It was a very last minute reservation but we were treated very well. The whole experience was fun and comfortable. I was able to play my music on his Bluetooth speaker :D Atmosphere wise the place is cozy :) The place also does custom framing. When I get my masters degree I'll come back here again to get a custom plaque engraving for my degree too. I highly recommend people to come, either for dates or a friend/family hang out! read more

A group of us booked a session at Paint & Hangout this past weekend, and it was a great way to ease our way into Saturday night. Very cozy environment, friendly owner, and lovely supporting staff. Not only did we enjoy painting (and more importantly SIPPING) but the owner entertained us with card tricks throughout the class. It is BYOB so be prepared. I hosted my wife's birthday party here. Sam and his team did an excellent job making it an enjoyable experience! They put up a few decorations before we got there and as promised included soda, water and disposable utensils for us to use. Sam also stopped to do card tricks which was very entertaining for our guests. We had about 17 in our private party and the space was just right. The back table we put our food and drink on seemed a bit cluttered with painting supplies but Sam's team did their best to clear space and was alway highly accommodating. Sam was extremely accommodating to our last minute booking. I reserved for a small BYOB party for my birthday last year and it was such a intimate and fun experience. One of my guests had such a great time we booked again for her birthday with an even larger group. Since this was more people, Sam provided us with the option for an even larger space which we didn't end up needing. Our instructors both times were talented and clearly very patient.
