I have been to this nail salon once before; the experience was fine because it was a free training manicure. But I went this past week and was very unimpressed. I asked for gel x with French. I would say that is a pretty typical thing to ask for. We go through she apply the nails all of that which is fine. We get to the French and it take about 30 minutes to find a base color which I think the nail salon should have previously picked out for a French. I was very apologetic that I was have trouble picking out a base color. She seemed frustrated and I felt bad. I finally just settled for a color. The base ended up streaky but looked fine enough. She's starts to do the French and is very much so struggling and it keeps turning out terrible over and over again. I finally say we can just do a solid color because I was feeling bad for her. She then said that her manager could do it. She goes up to her manager and is whispering in her ear. Which makes me start to tear up a bit cause I already feel bad and my nails aren't turning out how I want them to for my birthday. The manager finished them and did a good job. But the whole experience was terrible and I feel like someone doing nails should be able to do at least a French with out trouble. First time at Paint Nail Bar & I did not expect to have the greatest service. I came in initially to do overlay but ended up trying gel X. My nail tech was great and it looked nice initially but then the "I'm so anal and see every detail of my nail" mode kicked in and noticed a few gaps in the first 2 days. Don't get me wrong, again service was great and the tech was great, but there's always room for improvement. It didn't sit well with me that I paid a decent amount and couldn't sleep at night just thinking about how unhappy I was with it. The nail salon called me to ask how my services went, I had mentioned my struggle and was actually going to call them but they beat me to it! Little did I know, they had a 10 day policy which was amazing to hear! They were so understanding and rescheduled me to get them redone! Of course I also came in for a pedicure as well which was WONDERFUL! So I'm giving this place a 5 star because not only were they so understanding and accommodating with my concerns but the service was A1! Complimentary drinks, fun convo's with the techs, and so many colors to choose from!! I don't live here but I will definitely be going to the paint nail bar back home moving forward and will always visit this one when in town! After the damage acrylics and a nail tech had done to my nails a couple months ago, I was determined to find an alternative to acrylics. I learned about aprés nails and looked up specific places that do just that. Even called a few nail salons to ensure they did them and 5 out of 5 spots had no idea what I was talking about until I came across Paint Nail Bar and saw what they offered. I immediately booked a session to get a full set of aprés gel x done and was super excited to have found them. I went to my appointment this past weekend and, just like their site showed, the space was clean, open and warm. The receptionist was super sweet and checked me in right away. They also offer complimentary drinks from water to champagne. My nail technician was Mariah and she was absolutely phenomenal!! I asked her to educate me on the gel x process just to understand it and she talked me through it all! She explained how the gel x is a great alternative to acrylics and how they're healthier for you nails. She didn't need to shave down my nail or anything, which I've always hated anyways, she just made sure to grab the "press on" nails that fit me and prepared them for application. We had great conversation and she was professional, extremely knowledgeable and friendly! Super grateful for her patience and enthusiasm to talk me through the process! At the end, my nails looked amazing and beautiful! Loved the end result for sure and felt incredible! All in all, I will definitely be back! The staff are friendly and fun and the alternative to acrylics are amazing! My bridal party and I went here last Thursday evening to get our nails done before my wedding on Saturday. Overall I will say I loved the atmosphere - very trendy, management was very sweet, and they had delicious drink options. If I could critique anything, I would say my biggest problem is that my manicure started separating from my nails by Sunday night, and came completely off by Monday afternoon ... which considering I ended up paying around $90+ (with tip) is really disappointing. Furthermore I didn't realize that the French tip would be hand applied (rather than applied with a guide), so if you looked at the tips up close they were obviously uneven. Not a huge deal, frankly I was impressed by the level of detail and patience to attempt to hand paint those tiny white lines - again though, when you're paying such a high price you kind of hope for more. I didn't love that the technicians had specialities - while it's great to have people who are rockstars at certain things (such as nail art, tips, shaping, etc) it can be a real problem, as it was for me. Bless her heart, she warned me ... but Sara is not super specialized in tips - rather Paula typically does them. I took a chance and told her to go for it as Paula watched on, and overall she did an excellent job with the actual application however I started to notice after my manicure had cured under the lamp that the glue was super obvious. Overall I have mixed feelings. I liked the environment and I liked my interaction with the nail technician, but I'm pretty disappointed with the quality of the work considering the price. When it's your wedding you just hope for more, and in my mind I figured that "you get what you pay for" which ended up not being the case. I attached a picture where you can see the glue marks from the added tips, dark spots, and the slight unevenness of the French tip itself. *** On a slightly different note, I would just like to mention that a wild woman came in during my time there and yelled at multiple staff and was handled well. She made personal (verbal) attacks at staff and just made an ass of herself, but management handled it well and apologized profusely to me and my bridesmaids. *** I would also like to mention my bill would have normally been somewhere between $60-$70, but between the above mentioned wild woman and the fact that we ended up keeping the techs there a little past closing time I felt obligated to tip well. read more

I called in for a pedicure appointment and over the phone they mentioned they had a time available for me to come in and get a pedicure, as long as my nails had nothing on them. I ended up arriving 9-10 minutes after my appointment time and they mentioned that I would have a limited service with majority of it cut out. I was fine with that but when I went to be seated the nail "technician" told me she would not service me because she wouldn't do a french tip, all she could do was one color. I went to the front and they said that over the phone I was supposed to mention that I wanted a french tip pedicure but for a technician to not be able to do that is inadequate and not a good look. There was no attempt to rebook or find someone who was qualified to work in a nail salon. My appointment was meant to be rushed as there was an appointment right after mine. This was another thing that they did not mention over the phone. While I was late, I was not expecting much but did not think I would be met with unqualified staff. For a service to only consist of water bath and paint is extremely disappointing. I have been to the salon twice before so this was terrible to experience. The nail "technician" was very rude and disrespectful. To employ someone so ill-mannered to clients and barely qualified is not a good look. This is not to say that me being late is acceptable but I take accountability for that unlike the salon who could have simply rescheduled in the first place instead causing a major inconvenience. read more

After making a reservation online they were REFUSED service and then charged a CANCELATION FEE. This is my second time coming to PAINT. My first visit I thought was ok but my new nail tech Kristie did an amazing job on my nails the second time around. Let me begin by telling you this is a fume free zone! The techs do not I repeat DO NOT use nail drills which are unsanitary and brutal on your nail beds. Everything is done by hand. They do everything with gel just like you would with acrylic but healthier. I got the tips on my first visit, Valentine colors, and like I said it was good but my second visit was even better! Kristie took such good care of me! My nails turned out even better. Aside from Kristies amazing job on my nails which are just about at my natural nail, PAINT is clean, upscale with fresh flowers throughout. All the staff are super friendly and the drinks are amazing! I'll keep coming back! There are lots of colors to pick and you can choose matte or glossy. I started going here a few months after they opened and this is the the best nail salon I have been to, including tons of salons in Houston and Austin! It's such a comfort to make an appointment and know exactly when my service will begin, when I'll be done, and who will be providing the service. My nails have become healthier after using their products, and I love that I can purchase most of the products that are used during service for continued pampering at home. During the shutdown they even delivered orders and communicated exactly what precautions they would have in place once things reopened. I have loved watching this salon grow, and through the covid chaos they have really shown how dedicated they are to taking care of their employees. Truly the best! read more

I was very very disappointed in Paint Nail Bar, Lubbock. Yes, the place is very nice and clean, however the nail tech did a terrible job. I had asked for French tips, and they came out horrible. The tip had bumps in it and they did not completely remove my previous color, so you could still see small pieces of color underneath the clear part. The nail tech was very young and not at all confident in what she was doing. The people are very friendly, but to pay $50 was a complete waste of my money. I love this nail salon so much. I'd rate it 10 stars if that were an option. I've never had a single bad experience here. I've had my nails (and toes) done by a couple of different technicians here and everything always looks fantastic when I leave. The quality of their polish (gel and regular) can't be beat and their customer service is top notch. My gel manis last weeks, and I've never found any other salon where I can get a gel mani that lasts more than 10 days if I'm lucky. The prices really aren't much different than you'd find at any other salon in town and in my opinion the quality is just so much better, its enough to justify any additional cost (though really, if any it's minimal). I usually don't write reviews but I was highly disappointed in this business. I booked a Gel-x extension service with removal and I called to make sure that I could get my acrylic removed. No answer, which is fine. I get a call back while I'm at work 2.5 hours before my appointment explaining to me that it was a $30 charge to remove acrylic. LITERALLY THE MOST EXPENSIVE I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE. I then alerted the employee I would be over for my appointment after I go to my usual salon to take the acrylic off for 5 bucks. I get to the salon and I was about 25 mins late. I was told I couldn't be seen, which is also fine because there are like a million nail salons in Lubbock. I leave the salon and my card is charged $78! The reason being is because I was a no-show. I spoke to the manager and tried to compromise but I was offered $32 back. I was genuinely disgusted because you get back to me so late and still penalized after I told you the situation. I'll definitely steering clear of this salon.
