Came here for lunch recently and ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and coconut shrimp appetizer we shared. Good portions. Shrimp was a little over cooked but ate it anyway! The lobster BLT was delicious paired it with sweet fries! The buffalo chicken grilled cheese was too heavy, wouldn't order again. For dessert we shared the salt caramel cake! It was AMAZING! I'm not sure if I would ever get anything else! The server came to the table quickly and was extremely knowledgeable on the menu and since it wasn't too busy they had time to talk with us and suggested we come back at night when they have music. Will be back for drinks(since we couldn't try this time) maybe during happy hour or on a weekend when they have a band. read more

Ready folks cause here we go. 1) made a reservation online that apparently doesn't work so when I arrived on time I was told I had to wait an hour for a table ......fine I'll wait at the bar. Strong drinks so okay. Cool. FINALLY GET SEATED. I had sea bass boyfriend had steak. Dude so overlooked it was like gross lol so tough. I used to frequent this place a bit and I've always liked it. It's close and requires no effort in terms of dress or anything. Lately I feel the food, quality and service has steadily declined. My wife insists we keep giving it another try and I'm not sure why. It consistently disappoints each and every time, wore than the last. I was not very happy with the host at Painters yesterday. We were a party of 7 and we ask to be seated. She asked us if we have reservations, now we have been many times at Painters and never needed reservations before in addition we were the only family there no one was waiting. Well the host gave us duck lips said we needed a reservation or the wait would be an hour. What bothers me is the way she said it in a condescending manner, like we were not her type of clientele. Not being sensitive but we are in the restaurant business, she just did not know that....and the back room was empty...not sure why she didn't offer for us to sit there, instead she offered us to sit outside with 2 small children one of which is autistic in 104 degree weather now she should know better than that...so no thank you we would never go back until the host learns what hospitality really means. read more

Painters used to be so great. It was my favorite restaurant, but my last couple experiences have been disappointing. Tonight, we were seated right away, but it was about 15 min before we were acknowledged by the wait staff. Meanwhile, the table next to us knew one of the employees and he made several trips over to talk and spend time with them , while we were ignored. Once the waitress came over we placed the order for our drinks, apps, and entrees. It was at least another 15 min before we got our drinks ( simple glasses of wine). We ordered the Thai steak sticks as an app. This is something I've ordered many times in the past, however now the pieces of steak are about 1/4 the size they used to be. We ordered the steak medium rare and it was well done. I ordered an ahi tuna BLT. They didn't ask how I wanted my tuna cooked so it was dry, over cooked, and nearly inedible. The one consistent thing about painters lately has been the bathroom. You can always count on it being filthy, having water on the floor, and at least one of the sinks not working. read more

My sister threw me my baby shower here, and I will say the shower was very nice. Although, most of it was because of all the work my sister did. If it weren't for Zach, Painter's events contact, I would give the place a 4 or a 5. Unfortunately, Zach is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with in the catering business. Unfortunately not all guests my sister anticipated on attending could attend. She was going to be short on the 30 guest minimum Painter's has for their events. My sister had asked if it was possible for us to take the leftover food home after the event since she was paying for guests that weren't able to attend, she was told that she could not. Without her knowing I wanted to double-check with Painter's, as I feel terrible her money is going to waste. I tried calling Zach 3x and he never answered. I ended up emailing him asking what the minimum guest count for a brunch event was and if the headcount is not met if any food can be brought home. A day later Zach eventually answered that catered food is not allowed to be brought home. I replied asking him what the reason why was; I wasn't going to ask for an exception if there was a solid reason behind his response. We went back and forth several times, as it was like pulling teeth to get a straight answer out of Zach. He had ended up saying because it's their policy they developed over many years of experience. Still not answering my question, clearly it's their policy but I'm wondering why it was their policy. I then responded how my sister was throwing my baby shower there the following day and how I feel terrible that her money is going to waste and if there is any way they could make an exception to their policy. I was expecting either a yes or a no reply. Instead, Zach comes back saying something to the effect of "let me get this straight....you made up a fake event to see if there was a conspiracy against your sister taking home food?" ... Excuse me?? First of all, I did not make up a fake event, I asked specific, clear questions on their policies - and by no means was I checking for any conspiracies. What event manager talks to the guest of honor of a baby showering that will be at their restaurant will be hosting the following day. Zach then replied something that he will "deal" with my sister... He then calls my sister and tells her that someone is anonymously emailing him. Who is being anonymous?? I didn't sign my name but I told him exactly who I was. Clearly, I was trying to be discreet and not let my sister know I was contacting Painters, was Zach trying to stir up trouble between my sister and me???? He then replied that if I have any other issues that I can take them up with my sister. There are so many other ways he could've handled my question - he is clearly in the wrong business. As long as he is still the event contact, I would recommend elsewhere for a catered event. read more

1 out of 5 stars. What happened to Painters? This was once one of my favorite places to dine at. First of all, if you care at all about the pandemic, do not visit this restaurant because they are not enforcing mask requirements, as we watched people wandering around with no masks on in full view of the staff. Secondly, service is now miserably slow. Our food wasn't properly prepared and the overall experience was a few steps below an Applebee's. It is no longer worth the price. I'm shocked to say that I do not believe I will ever return to this place that I once very much loved. read more

This is a local place for me, not anymore. I gave this place 2 tries. First time, I t was very crowded, ok, must be good. Had a delicious guacamole appetizer. We ordered two of their "genius" burgers, medium rare. They arrive 30 minutes later - well done. Ask our server to re-fire the order and please tell the chef medium rare. Comes back 20 minutes later - well done. We decide that this was not our night. The server was very nice and only charged us for the appetizer. Ok, bad night, give it another try. We waited a couple of months and went last night. Again, crowded, 30 - 40 minutes for a table. We go to the bar, have a few drinks, and after 30 minutes we can be seated. Pay the bar with a gift card, no problem. Have a nice meal, though no burgers. Go to pay with gift card and cash. Server states they don't accept gift cards. Explained the bar did and then was told it didn't go through. Which is it? Manager says it's owner policy to not accept gift cards and most restaurant now do not. After explaining the bar had no problem the manager stated that no gift cards. By the way, no policy letting customers know at the entrance, hostess area, bar,menu, nothing. Manager says that's our policy and walks away, leaving the server to deal with the problem. Definitely not going back, I'll drive the extra 10 minutes and go to Patchogue. Ok, yes, I went back. Actually I have been back several times to give the place a fair review. My first visit must have been an off night. We gone back and the guacamole is awesome. I've had burgers several times and cooked to my tastes (medium rare) and really good. Drinks are good and in general a really nice local place to go and unwind. read more

I came here for dinner. It is a nice place to bring friends. I like a little more flavor which they did not have. The workers were nice and polite. The temperature was good where it was cold outside. Ruined my mom's 70th birthday celebration. Wish I had seen the other reviews for large parties before choosing to celebrate this milestone event. We made the reservation one month in advance and early in the evening (5:30PM) to accommodate several small children in our party. Family members were traveling from out of state to attend. We requested the back room for 14 people. We were called the day of the reservation and offered a table at 4:30PM. We responded that this was not possible as we had family members traveling from out of state. When we arrived (at about 5:20PM), they wanted to seat us at two separate tables in the front room! We insisted that we be seated together in the back room. We were ultimately seated there on the condition that we be out within an hour to accommodate another large party that was coming. Despite the fact that they wanted us out in an hour, we received poor service - they didn't bring any of their signature bread until we asked for it and they didn't bring my nephew's dinner order. It took so long to rectify this issue that most everyone else had finished eating by the time my nephew's dinner arrived. The manager never apologized - he actually said "do you want to hear my side." His side was to tell us that they never promise to seat large parties together; only to seat them. He insisted that all parties are informed of this restaurant policy at the time that the reservations are made. This is a lie - I actually called back at a later date and made the exact same reservation. I was only told that everyone must arrive on time. read more

Always a great meal. Everything from the second you walk in till you leave is perfect. The nachos are the best my bf and i ever had. The Apple grilled cheese was yummy. The kids got food from kids menu that were big plates and extremely reasonable in price. Cant wait to go back. read more

Been here many times for bands and bar with friends. Last night first time dining in. We made a reservation weeks in advance and they took an hour to seat us. Table of 15. After we helped them organize and setup the table we ordered our first round of drinks from the table, after spending over $350 at the bar. So we sat down at 8:15 PM (reservation was for 7:15 PM) - our apps came out at 9 PM and they took our dinner order at 9:10 PM at 10:10 PM no food, no apologies just excuses. All they need to do was say they were sorry and work with us. We paid our bill ( they deducted our apps) but our friends birthday dinner was ruined. Disorganized and unconcerned! Very sad management and owners. Will go back for bands and bar but never again for dinner! read more

This place used to be my absolute favorite. Now the quality and consistency of the food is horrible. They are grossly overpriced and the food is sub par. Angel hair and 5 shrimp fot $32, the pasta completely underdone and the shrimp overcooked. Seared tuna $35, and was rare on one end and well done on other. Probably my favorite restaurant! I love all the staff and they are always so good to us. We've been going forever but when my son was born it was the first restaurant we took him too and everyone was so sweet to him and kept coming to say hi and play with him. The owners are incredibly wonderful people that really go the extra mile to keep their customers happy. Zach, Jill, heather and Gina are such awesome people and always make our visit such a great time. The food is awesome especially the BLT sliders and apple bacon grilled cheese! Not a good experience Friday night 5pm pretty much empty. I wanted to order the peach and chicken quesadilla with Gorgonzola cheese. I asked the waiter if I could get another cheese instead of the Gorgonzola because I am allergic he asked the chef and he said no. Not sure why. I make quesadilla all the time you can put any kind of cheese in it. So I ordered a shrimp quesadilla which was good but not what I wanted. The booths are the worse place to sit in the entire restaurant the runners and table clears all hang out they are very loud and you can hear all their conversations. They asked us three times if we were finished with our bread and two times if they could take my plates. I normally would have bought a second drink and a appetizer. Not today their lose. Came in for Valentine's Day dinner. We were seated immediately with a reservation. Waitress was very attentive. There was a special Valentine's Day menu, but it was mainly a selection of items from their regular menu. Everything was excellent...drinks, tuna wontons, blt sliders, mango pecan salad, skirt steak, Chilean sea bass, creme brulee. We are regulars and will continue to be back frequently. read more

Painter's has a really great menu with tons of options for whatever your heart desires that day. The salads are always tasty and filling. If you are feeling more gluttonous, the nachos are excellent and more than enough for a family of 4. My kids also really have enjoyed the burgers. Service is always top notch. read more

10 of us went to painters last night for my wife's birthday. The appetizers were great the French onion soup was great and I had a porterhouse that was excellent. I wouldn't even give this restaurant a star, they overcharged my credit card over $300, terrible costumer service. I called several times looking to get this rectified and no manager ever called me back. When my husband called them, the manager was extremely rude to us and even laughed like it was no big deal that my account was overdrawn. The food was awful and the place had roaches. Had the ahi tuna BLT, sauce wasn't flavorful and dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries was awfully sweet. Tuna was cooked to order, but not enough flavor to want to go back. Visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch - our first visit in several years. When we arrived, there were two other occupied tables in the DR, several families arrived after we placed out order. The main dining room is as funky as expected, complete with brown paper and crayons on table tops, in case the urge to draw strikes you. The piped in music was a nice mix of acoustic / soft rock standards, but was too loud for easy conversation at our table. Lighting was a bit dim for a rainy Saturday afternoon [and I need to start carrying my reading glasses]. Service was indifferent - our sandwich entrees [Chicken with Waffles; A 'Georgia O Keefe' Burger] languished in clear view at the kitchen service counter for 8 minutes while the waitress was taking drink orders for a newly arrived family. When the food arrived, my wife's chicken had the breading separate from the cutlet, and the chicken itself was dry & overcooked. I had specified 'medium' for my burger, but got 'well'. We both ordered sweet potato fries - but they were neither warm nor crisp. We elected to complete the day's errands and go down the road to Tend Coffee for desert instead of staying. read more

He was never anywhere to be found when he was needed. "Not even at the bar as well" in order for us to get refills of our drink we had to walk up to the bar and get our own drink also our food was med well and it came out rare after asking for them to fix it they came back out with it super burned outside and now med on the inside.
