It was our 1st time here and the waiter did a great job of explaining how everything works and how the food will be served. We got the full experience. The salad bar has waaayyyy more than just salad but don't get caught up there bc when they start bringing the food/meats to your table you might be a little overwhelmed. I tried everything lol. I had a lamb chop for the 1st time it was amazingly delicious. Flank steak might be new favorite cut. Filet mignon wrapped with bacon. They just keep bringing food to you like you're a "King" or "Queen"!! There was the grilled pineapple and they also had this honey cheese. I'm getting hungry and having flashbacks as aim writing. I can't wait to go back. It's a very nice intimate setting with music playing but just loud enough to hear and still have a conversation. I will definitely be back soon. It's so much more I can say but I think you have to just experience it for yourself. Also remember this all you can eat so bring your appetite. Next time I'll add more pics. Had to enjoy the moment!!

Minas Carne is an authentic Brazilian barbeque restaurant and delicatessen that opened in Danbury,…read moreConnecticut in 1997. It was founded by the Reyes Family of restaurateurs, which includes Luis, Juan & Richard. The Reyes Family immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 1990. The first eatery they opened in 1991 was Amigo's Deli & Carniceria, which is still going strong today. In 1997, the family opened Minas Carne, which features authentic Brazilian BBQ and traditional sides served in a fast-casual environment. It quickly became a popular staple in Danbury. In 2020, the Reyes Family opened Mariposa Taqueria. It closed in 2026, but the Reyes Family plan to turn it into a second location for Minas Carne which will open soon. I have eaten at Minas Carne numerous times over the years. The restaurant is 400 feet away from Western Connecticut State University's Midtown Campus, and it has long been a popular food option for WestConn students. I myself attended WestConn for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Recently I was in Danbury to see a concert, so I decided to stop by Minas Carne for some dinner beforehand. Everything is buffet style here and the line moves quickly. I grabbed a platter and loaded up on some sides such as "White Rice", "Yellow Rice", "Brown Beans", "Meat & Bean Stew", "Fried Chicken", "Beef Stew", and "Seasoned Plantains". Then I headed to the star of the show: the brick-oven charcoal barbeque pit. I asked for a little bit of "Pork Tenderloin" as well as some "Linguiça". Everything was delicious! There's a reason why I've been coming back here again and again for over 20 years. If you're looking for an authentic Brazilian BBQ experience then I highly recommend Minas Carne!

Mina's has great garlic steak and chicken wings, and I love their yellow rice and collard greens…read more But today's visit felt like I was ripped off. I loaded up the container with rice and collard greens, got 3 chicken wings and garlic steak, and paid $41. It was 2.7 lbs charged at $14.05. But the posted prices were $10.99/lb for combo and $14.49 for meat only. How do they determine pricing? Obviously, it looks like I got only all meat in the photo, but it's sitting on top of rice and collard greens, which, by the way, the rice is very heavy since I got a lot of it. I think that's just a bit deceptive when a restaurant does that kind of crap to their customers. I saw one review from years ago that they do arbitrarily change pricing when they think you got more meat on your plate. That's just plain wrong.

The food is served as buffet style so you can try everything and just pay by the pound. They had lots of steaks and meats on the BBQ skewers. The staff was friendly spoke England and Portuguese of course the native language of Brazil. As a Brazilian myself I was impressed by the decorations of our country and the food itself brings me back memories of being back in Rio. There is lots of deserts to try and drinks to accompany your meal. Definitely hit place to for lunch breakfast and dinner.

On the salad bar side: the rice was warm, the beans were cold, the Pao de Queijo were rock hard. On the meat side: the sausage had to have been cooked the day before it was so hard, one of the meats I had (?) was a bit fatty, but the chicken and the wings were excellent as was something else put on top. Not sure if I could have gone back up for more but wasn't planning to stay as nothing was 'that' good. I was stared at like they've never seen a gringo before yet I know Brazilian (Portuguese) food equal to most Brazilians! I believe they had Brigadeiro in the display case but I had already spent a few dollars on a subpar dinner by this point. They're open for breakfast, but I wouldn't dare.
