So we decided to try here as we are always looking for new spots. Both my husband and I are in the industry so usually Sunday Monday is our day out. The best Manhattan made with woodford and a smoked old fashioned with Angels Envy. I literally watched the bartender grab a shit bottle from the well, make both drinks with the same... I asked what he made mine with and he said Knob Creek, then I mean woodford. (The only bourbon I drink is woodford, it's my go to). He had a round bottle black label- again BOTH DRINKS... buyer beware they will charge you for top shelf and serve you well. Also look at you and lie. The food was decent but honestly so pissed at the drinks we won't be back. I sat at the bar and watched you.. if you said shit sorry messed up let me remake, I would have been cool. I'm back. It's been a year or two since I was last here. I'm doing the Happy Hour this time. The restaurant is located on 1410 Highland Ave in Cheshire, CT. For my first drink, I'm having the Smoked Old Fashioned made with Crow 86 (normally Angel's Envy), Luxardo juice, orange bitters and orange spritz. That's different. I love the smell of the smoke! This tastes great! It's properly garnished, chilled and balanced. Wow! They also bring out some bread and a delicious red sauce made with olive oil, garlic parmesan and red peppers. This is very good! I apologize for not taking pictures earlier before I dug in! Add about 3-4 more pieces of bread. For my first item, I'm having the mini crab cakes. A crab cake is a popular American seafood dish made from crab meat mixed with binders like breadcrumbs or crackers, mayonnaise, eggs, and seasonings such as Old Bay, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, then formed into patties and cooked by baking, frying, or broiling. Add that lime to bring out the true flavor of this dish! This smells real good! Oh yeah! These are good! For my next appetizer, I'm trying the Brother Street Tacos made with chicken and topped with cole slaw and peppercorn aioli. These are pretty big! I like the use of the metal taco holders. Use that lime! These are delicious! For my next appetizer, I'm having four oysters (Chesapeake Bay). This is another rare treat for me. Oysters are saltwater bivalve mollusks, prized as seafood for their briny, mineral-rich flavor and high nutritional content, including zinc, iron, and vitamins. These aren't bad for cholesterol and have high nutritional content. For my next drink, I'm having The Best Manhattan made with Crow 66, Tribuno Sweet Vermouth, Amaro Montenegro, a dash of Luxardo lower served in a short martini glass. I love the cute umbrella! Ah yes! This is good! It had a great garnish including the umbrella/Luxardo cherry, well chilled and nicely balanced. Look at this beautiful presentation! I will admit I'm afflicted to the horseradish. That stuff is strong! Sprinkle that lemon! These oysters are huge! These are fantastic! For my next item, I'm having the Soup of the Day - shrimp and corn chowder. I'm not sure I've ever had this before. This is pretty! I love the baguette floaters and sprinkle of cheddar cheese! This is super hot and yummy! For dessert, I'm having the creme brûlée served with homemade "shlag" (whipped cream). Crème brûlée is a classic French dessert featuring a rich, creamy custard base topped with a contrasting layer of hard, caramelized sugar that is torched or broiled to a crisp, brittle finish. We've driven past Butcher Bros so many times and wondered what it was like, and I'm glad we finally went inside! It was a quiet Sunday evening on Labor Day weekend, and we went early for 5pm, so it was pretty laid back. The food came out quickly from the kitchen, and our server was attentive. We loved the fresh bread, crab cake, side dishes, and all of the meat was cooked perfectly. We also appreciated the nice presentation of my husband's New York strip. The better than 1 star was for the food itself which was quite delicious. The 1 hour and 20 minutes spent waiting on our entrees (the only thing we ordered) while others around us received their food was appalling. Two chicken dishes and a filet are hardly rocket science. Sadly we were not the only ones either. Our waiter was attentive at times, but telling us our food will be out in a few minutes (twice) only served to be annoying when we watched others seat after us receiving starters. The first rule of steakhouse is serve good steaks. My wife and I went there a year ago and ordered a porterhouse steak medium. The restaurants big on saying their steak is aged, but a horse is still a horse of course. The steak was so tough That, instead of slicing it for us at our table, Peter Luger style, the waiter gave up after two cuts on each side of the bone and left us to fend for ourselves. I can make a better steak in a frying pan. It was so bad that my wife, who never complains or wants me to, told the way they they should be ashamed of themselves for serving that. The waiter came back and said they knocked $30 off The $150 bill. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is no Capital Grill. Had dinner with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while on a Monday night so it wasn't super busy. The service was excellent. The young lady that waited on us was very attentive and didn't make us feel like she wanted us to leave...we were there almost 3 hours catching up! I had the chicken francese which was delicious. I hate broccoli and asked if the mixed veggies could not come with any if possible. The chef gave me no broccoli but extra brussel sprouts which I appreciated. It also had peppers, onions, carrots and zucchini. I've never seen brussel sprouts in a vegetable mix at a restaurant. It made it feel like a gourmet side! For dessert there was a large number of tartufo options. I had pistachio with dark chocolate and it was so good! Not sure if they have that regularly because I didn't see it on their menu on line. We had a wonderful meal celebrating my brother's birthday and we were seated in the wine room. This ia a steak restaurant with good acoustics where you can actually hear your dining companions. This is the third time that I have been to the restaurant, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! Patrick is the GM, and make sure that everything is perfect, along with our server, Natalie. We started with the french onion soup whch is a large bowl. We tried the side of meatballs which were excellent. The chicken piccata typically comes on mashed potatoes and I asked for penne pasta which was terrific! My brother had the stuffed pork chops which is a huge portion, and my sister-in-law had the sole. I ordered via Uber Eats and couldn't be happier with the experience. Even though I didn't dine in, the food was so amazing that I had to leave a review! The 20 oz Bone-In Ribeye Steak was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The Wild Canadian Salmon was fresh and delicious, and the sautéed broccoli was the perfect healthy side. Okay, I was a bit nervous heading into this reservation because the reviews seemed pretty mixed, but overall, I really enjoyed my time!! You could tell this is a pretty old functioning Steakhouse, and while most people urge for everything to have a makeover, I actually enjoyed its charm. It reminded me of so many other restaurants that we'd go to for family functions growing up in New England. They had our table ready to go, and it wasn't packed on a Friday before Christmas. Right off the bat, we couldn't stop diving into the sauce they provided with the bread. It was like a sweet/spicy marinade of some sort. Really good. We got two orders of Calamari to start: one NY style and one classic. I liked trying the NY style for a change but in my own personal opinion, I think the classic had it beat. They were both tasteful, and fresh. For entrees, I got the lamb and they were cooked exactly as I had preferred, medium rare. Basic side of mashed potatoes and asparagus which is actually what I prefer with my proteins. My brother got a steak and the seasoning was very flavorful. I don't think anyone really had an issue with any of their food. Waiter was pleasant and staff was attentive. We sat across from a rowdy younger crowd celebrating a birthday. The staff came out with a dessert and a song and we loved having that fun, lively ambiance amongst our table of 10. Only complaints are the $60 to hold a reservation. I have a feeling this might turn away some business. I also don't think I got that money back even though we attended and were on time? The other complaint was how exceedingly warm the dining room was but those things can't always be controlled in a large space. While visiting friends in a nearby town we decided to go to a traditional Steakhouse. The ambiance isn't the main draw. It's a bit bland and standard with nothing to look at in the main dining room and it's windowless. Some bright flowers or some colors other than brown and tan might be nice. I peeked in the bar and it was a bit brighter. The food was delicious and the restaurant knows what they are doing in that regard. I had the ceasar salad which was large and tasty. Very classic. My main course was the Salmon and it was delicious, served on a bed of healthy spinach. Other successes at our table were the wedge salad (also large) and the tuna tartare, sirloin, and filet mignon. We got there at 1030 on Sunday (day of the World Cup which they had playing at bar), but my company chose to sit at a table. Everything tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. I got the Taste of Mediterranean and I was skeptical on steak part given I tend to go places and it's either under or over cooked. My steak was juicy, perfectly cooked and savory. Came here for brunch with another family. We arrived around 10 AM when they opened and the parking lot was fairly empty. Walked in to tell the host we wanted a table for 8 and he asked if we had reservations. We said no and he muttered what sounded like "s*** ok". Haha. We were given a table among a multitude of empty tables. Ordered our drinks with a lovely waitress (i forgot her name). Coffee and bloody mary's were delicious as well as the food! The service from our server was pretty good. He was friendly, attentive, and pleasant. However, I first noticed an odd taste with the French Onion soup which had a mildew-like aftertaste. I brushed it off, didn't finish it, and hoped for the best with the filet mignon. Unfortunately, the entree was even worse and had a fish-like flavor to it. My partner said he could not taste it, but it was so bad for me that I had to douse it in A-1 sauce. Even then, I couldn't stand the taste and just ate the side of mashed potatoes and spinach. Decided to try Bone in Prime for first time since new ownership. We like sitting in the bar area. We started with that appetizer of steak egg rolls. They had a nice kick and flavors all worked together. For my main meal I ordered the chicken and shrimp. The basil pesto cream sauce was dreamy. There's a difference in the sides or add-ons but we both got served with two Prime cheeseburgers instead .
