We went to Paizano's on the recommendation of the bartender at Barley Brown's Brewery when we learned that the Barley Brown Restaurant was closed on Mondays. We ordered a Greek salad and a large sausage and mushroom pizza. The salad arrived right away and we had just finished the salad when the pizza arrived. We were impressed with the crust. I knew it had be from a starter and after ordered a second pizza, the guy who delivered it us told us that he was part of the family who owned the pizzeria. He told us about how the crust was made. We really enjoyed our dinner there and we were happy that they served Barley Brown's Pallet Jack on tap since we had just visited the brewery. The food and the service were excellent and we will definitely go back to Paizano's when we visit Baker City again. This pizza is well worth the trip to Baker City! read more

Prices were very reasonable, the staff was very helpful in explaining how their menu worked, and the food was very very tasty. Passing thru Baker City on a late Saturday afternoon and decided to stop at Paizano's. It had been a a few years since our last visit and was once a favorite stop. Place hasn't changed much and many of the same pizzas we remembered were still on the menu. Our choice today was the Lumberjack (pepperoni, italian sausage, onions, green peppers and olives) and an order of the giant cheese breadsticks. Breadsticks arrived fairly quickly and did not disappoint. Dough was chewy with a soft crunch and just enough cheese with a hint of garlic to make it very tasty. Ranch dip was very good as well. Our pizza arrived within 5 minutes of placing our order and had us a bit perplexed as pizzas typically take much longer to cook. The crust was paper thin while the edge of the pizza was normal thickness. There was no way to pick the slice up and have it hold together and so we resorted to using forks. We had ordered their version of a "large" (medium for most) but the pizza easily hung over the pan by 2 inches, something we have never seen done. Either they made a mistake and rolled the crust too thin, made us the incorrect size and gave us the next size up. Or, most likely scenario, we received a pizza someone else had ordered and failed to pick up. I'm thinking it was later simple due to being ready in 5 minutes from time of order. Regardless, the ultra paper thin crust ruined what would have otherwise been a very good pizza. Another customer ordered a similar size pizza and it looked as it should without overhanging the pan and the crust looked totally different and appeared the correct thickness. Inspite of it being an odd ultra thin pizza, the flavor was good. I do wish the crust was a little crisper even with being so thin. Overall I would recommend and we do plan to go again simply based on our prior experiences we know they normally make much better pizzas. read more

We were passing through baker city this weekend and this seemed like the best and easiest vegan option. I love small/family owned businesses. However that being said the restaurant itself is in bad shape. It didn't seem super clean and felt dated. The service and staff were so nice. They were very helpful and welcoming. The pizza to me was average for a vegan pizza. It was good but I wish it had more flavor. I was super grateful for the vegan options so they get major bonus points cause most pizza places don't include those. I will say it was kind of pricey in my opinion for what it was. Since you just order at the counter and it's more a fast food style service I didn't expect it to be as much as it was. We stopped in after two long days working on renovating a house. Dirty, tiring work! We deserved a pizza reward. The restaurant smelled amazing when we walked in, and we were warmly greeted. I've been Gluten Free for a few years now, and I was excited to see two sizes available. We ordered our large half cheeseburger, half pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapeño, then came back twenty minutes later when it was done. I was salivating the entire 3 minute drive home! It's hard to describe how happy I was when that box opened and this beautiful, melty, amazing pizza was there just waiting for us. The crust itself was tender and not over baked as many gf crusts can be. It felt and tasted just like a "regular" crust should but without all the nasty things that brings for me. We stopped here for lunch on Friday and it was delicious!!! We just had the pizza and it was more than enough. Jalapeño and pepperoni for hubby and I and our son had cheese. The crust was amazing and the sauce was perfect. I would ask for extra sauce next time because it was so good! Jalapeños were not too spicy but added the perfect kick to our pizza. We came back to Piazanos hoping things had improved, and the decor inside has indeed been updated to include actual booths and new tables. They appear to be funding those improvements with a new 9% surcharge on all takeouts. That's quite steep for a paper plate, some tinfoil and a few napkins. You don't have to refill glasses you don't have to wait on us and you don't have to wash any dishes.... We save you time and effort and you thank us by charging us extra to save you all that hassle? Their checkout defaults to a 20% minimum tip, so they are definitely pushing the entitlement beyond the typical 10% and expect you to buy into it as well. So the entitlement attitude is off-putting to say the least, and nobody is wearing any kind of hair nets or anything while prepping food, so head and beard hair I suppose can be expected to some degree. read more

Very good Stromboli. We had the Logger Stromboli topped with cheese. Served with house marinara sauce. I enjoyed the ranch with this better. Hubby had not ever had Stromboli. He said he enjoyed it. I have had Stromboli at other places and this was pretty top-notch. It had everything from mushrooms to pepperoni and then we also added the caramelized garlic Cheese breadsticks were pretty average and served with either marinara or ranch. We tried with both sauces. For a small town I would say this is better than a chain pizza place Once again, I do not like being asked for a tip on service that has not even been provided yet when you are asked to pay the tip for your pizza upon ordering Service was ok. We were delighted to find such great pizza when we visited Baker City last month. And since one of us is Italian American and grew up in Brooklyn, we consider ourselves to be worthy judges of pizza! The crust is perfectly chewy, the toppings are high quality with just the right amount added (too much topping can be as bad as too little) and the price is right. We ordered a Margherita and added red onions and it rang in at only about $14. Even the smallest size was more than enough to feed the two of us and we had a couple of pieces leftover to take with us. Service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is delightfully "local pizza joint" inside and outside there is a nice little patio (where we sat on an unusually warm September evening) that has a little bit of a view of the foothills. We ordered soft drinks but noted others were drinking beer, although we're not sure there was wine available. We'd definitly go back to Paizano's (and yes, they do spell it with a z) and can see why it is a favorite with locals. Highly recommended. read more

Loved the crust. We were driving down I84 looking for lunch and Paizano's came up on Yelp. We stopped and loved it. Friendly staff, great pie. We had the Jalapineoroni and , Wow. The pans on the wall do not give you the true pie size. Add two inches to the diameter easily. Note to my Cali friends, if you find yourself in Baker turn off I84 drive a couple miles and stop in. Strangely, they don't have a website so I can't say exactly what we had to eat, but it was a pizza with a white sauce base and sliced potatoes on it. The crust is particularly delicious! This place has lost it's flavor. The quality has declined over the last couple of years to the point, we rarely order. We gave it another chance last Friday but found it sorely lacking. The pizza, the logger, used to be delish and smothered in toppings but no more. It was expensive, up $5 from a couple years ago for a 2-3 person pizza to $20. I wouldn't mind if the quality was good but it wasn't. Something has happened, sadly, to Paizano's. I wish someone who would restore it to it's former glory would take over. We don't have many good places to eat here anymore. read more
