It was going to be an expensive repair, which I had not anticipated. He made a suggestion to take all the diamonds out and scrap the rest of the necklace, which has significant gold weight, so I did just that! I picked out a diamond eternity band that I've had my eye at Argyle for about two years and with the high price of gold, I got the new ring in trade plus cash too! I went back again today, after he took out all the diamonds, and he spent nearly an hour with me to make 2 perfectly matching stacking diamond eternity bands to go on either side of the ring that I purchased the day before. And even though he has a very active business to run, we sat and chatted for several more minutes about our daughters and similar circumstances. A very pleasant experience. I will admit that this place looks a little iffy on the outside and its location is tucked away…read morebehind a grocery store. Not the best first impression. But I had the unfortunate task of selling my ex-husband's wedding ring (yay?) and I happened to be doing other errands in the same shopping plaza. So I figured I would give them a shot. My intention was to sheepishly get a quote and maybe shop around at some other places. However, I was so pleasantly surprised at how nice, understanding, and FUNNY all the employees were about this awkward task that I decided to just take their offer and be done with the whole thing. Rob weighed the ring in front of me, testing its authenticity for metal content, and gave me an estimate based on their current rate for gold purchases all while laughing and joking and making me feel like I was making any other transaction. Then, to top it all off, after he gave me the cash for the ring, he offered me fancy chocolate cookies or a mystery wrapped bottle saying, "I know divorces are hard, so I can offer you something sweet or something to get you drunk. Which would you like?" How hilarious is that?!?! So thank you, Rob (and his brother Stan), for lending some well-earned closure to that chapter in my life; perhaps I'll be back with my other rings.
