PS: Note that I live here, so I deal with this business 52 weeks a year :) This is a small town, and it didn't take long after I moved here in 2000 to realize that this isn't the big city and I better learn to fit in to the Tahoe Local Lifestyle quickly if I really wanted to become a long timer lol. Our poor Post Office just isn't geared for the Amazon age, and so when my hubs and I decided to be apart of the overall solution, we chose Pak Mail to be our partner for personal packages and business mail delivery! We are beyond happy with the support we get - whether its Arturo or Megan answering the phone when I call, or Heather finding the most bizarrely irregular sized box to ship a package in, we're SO lucky to have their help! I absolutely LOVE that they are so attentive to COVID precautions - and I've never had a problem getting a package or mail because of limited hours. Their LUXER boxes make it so easy to pick up after hours! Plus, I love that as one of their box holders, I get to come in during specific "customer-only hours." THAT is REAL customer service you sure don't get down in the Big City! It always cracks me up when I'm chatting up someone in line in front of me and Heather says, "Is that Marla?" THAT is small town living folks - you get to know someone well enough that even with a mask on, they recognize who you are :). As for James (the owner) ... well, there just isn't a nicer guy in this town. And he does the right thing, always. Moods come and go, packages arrive and get shipped, life goes on. DONT GO HERE - EXPRESS MAIL WILL TREAT YOU BETTER. Their response to my review was canceling my $300 subscription I paid to them instead of apologizing for ganging up on me and trying to argue with me over something they never communicated to me when first signing up.. Really shows how professional they are and are more petty than ever. --‐‐---------- The staff here, particularly an older gentleman with a mustache and the younger gentleman, were rude and spoke in a disrespectful manner. They were unclear and vague when explaining their procedures when having your items shipped to their business. When I inquired about a missing package, the same gentleman became argumentative, only for it to turn out that they had already sent the package back. I was a younger women alone getting yelled at by two grown men, being talked down to the whole time - absolutely not okay! There was a lot of "well this is how we do things here", condensing tone (funny bc no one ever told me this when I first spoke to them all). Overall, there was a huge lack of empathy or understanding from this place, which is quite disappointing. They don't care about having good customer service or try to be respectful, very bulldog-ish. The people in this place are terrible. And while there are not a lot of options in Incline Village, there is Postal Express and they are great. But back to this horrible establishment: always really rude people working there, obviously bothered that you came in to spend money. I was there a few days ago and it will be my last. There were a few customers in line and one employee helping, the other was on the floor. The phone rang, and the gal on the floor went to answer it, but was quickly dismissed by the counter gal who said "they'll call back". As if saying: don't help the customers. So done with this place. The PakMail customer service and front office representatives are very kind and helpful. It's always a smooth experience when I go in to pick up mail and send off packages - which is a few times a week. They even SAVE ME TIME by packing up my shipping goodies after I've confirmed the address and paid. You would think he would treat everyone equally and respectfully, but the written yelp reviews (plural) prove differently. My experience : HORRIBLE ...all caps intended. And hilarious that owner James has to be rude and dismissive to yelp reviews instead of learning from the numerous poor reviews. Check out how defensive he gets! This is exactly the problem. No. No no no! You don't walk out and pack some stuff up and then say, "Just so you know there's a labor charge." Labor charge? $75 an hour for you to pack a $3 box with my materials? I would have stopped you if you told me. And then, you act as if you're right? Wrong. I always have to ask for mail I know is there. I always have to have someone find my packages when I get the notice they are delivered. I can't believe I paid for a year of this. Never again, and neither should you. p.s. You don't call up and try to argue me out of my review without suggesting some resolution. I see now that this is a culture, and the other reviews here are likely false. I absolutely did not ask that she package my things, so thanks for adding an outright lie as a response to the list of your bad business behavior. I would never have let your employee touch the box at all if she would have informed me first that she would charge $75 an hour for her taping of a box. "Specifications"? Ludicrous. You should refund my box money now, since obviously you can't be trusted with my mail if you're going to lie right here. We got a mailbox here about 2 years ago and have had very great service during this time! Zeb, Emma, and the others know their customers very well and often have my packages out before I even reach the front desk. They have also helped me take out packages to my car (when there are no other customers waiting). When I email with a question, they are very responsive as well! UPS shows Pak Mail as a UPS Access Point, Pak Mail is not an Access Point. I've tried twice to use Pak Mail and even called UPS for clarification - UPS believes Pak Mail is an Access Point and assured me there would be no problems... I don't have a Pak Mail PO Box, so there were problems. See review below where Pak Mail owner confirms they do not provide UPS Access Point pickup services if you do not have a PO box with them. Pak Mail needs to update their info with UPS to avoid further incidents. read more

3.5 I've had good and bad experiences with them. Generally they are super nice and friendly, but once they did a packing job for us that resulted in a few things that were broken. This is the third time I've gone in to have something notarized and each time I feel like I'm bothering the woman. She's one of the least friendly people I've ever come across. In spite of trying to say hello, how are you, I get nothing. I chalked it up to a bad day the first time, but 3 times now. The icing on the cake was she chastised me for not following her instructions in a patronizing manner. As a small business owner myself, I would never employ someone so not friendly. WOW this place makes my life so much easier! Brand new locker system to retrieve packages is extremely convenient for my business. I receive a lot of packages and with the locker system I can pick up anytime and just use my scannable picture code to open a locker! I have a door code as well so I can come in even past business hours. This is great if your super busy or need to get your mail during non business hours. I always know my packages are safe here and its a big relief that I can pick them up at any time so I am not rushing to get there before they close. Staff is friendly and helpful! The issue I have is they are only open 4 hours a day. So all of the customers have to come in a small window... with only 3 customers allowed inside at a time due to social distancing. I just don't understand the modified hours. For those of us working it is difficult and the lines are almost always long so it's never a quick trip. read more

My wife went into this place to ship several boxes home from our vacation. Of course we over packed and bought souvenirs from the Tahoe area. The employee of this place was Rude and unfriendly, truly a jerk!! He rushed my wife who was trying to find the correct address for another shipment. The jerk told my wife "hurry up we close at 2:00", It was only 1:00. No one was in line and waiting, the place was empty. He continued to be rude until he took our payment. If this wasn't the only place to ship, we would've walked with our packages and the $200 we spent to ship. i've only used Pak Mail twice - once to drop off a prepaid UPS package and to send a laptop via Fedex. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They got my shipping info and packaged up the laptop for shipping. No long lines. It's located in the shopping center near Raley's so it was convenient to do my errands in one place. read more

It is easy for people to sit behind a keyboard and complain about people. After seeing numerous negative reviews, I wanted to take a minute to share my positive experiences with these folks. All I have observed during this challenging Covid period is day in and day out people genuinely and bravely doing their best to deal with the endless flow of packages. Could they do better? Yes, I am sure. However, it should be noted that they have been a very helpful part of our household in getting mail and packages in Incline. Please don't blame Pakmail if you want to use their services without paying. They aren't a charity. And, believe me, it is much better than driving all the way to the South Lake Tahoe UPS to pick-up a held package. I am the 5th day in to that kind of nightmare as I type this. UPS told me the package was there for pickup, but after the hour drive it is actually locked away in an inaccessible trailer. Makes Pakmail not seem like such a bad option. read more

The worth customer service I ever experienced Management is extremely rude and not helpful !

I had been a client of Pak Mail for several years. I found them to be rude and dismissive whenever I came in to collect my mail. I bit my tongue and tried to avoid going in to get my mail except during the hours when they were not there. (Clients are given a code so they can access their mailbox after hours). There are very few options for mail services in Incline Village. I always asked to have my fees charged 6 months in advance. My credit card was stolen at one point. I called Pak Mail and gave them my new credit card number (I spoke with them three times on the phone). I then followed up with an email. When the new billing cycle came, they claimed my credit card was declined. I informed them I had updated my card information with them last billing cycle on the phone because of the theft. They basicly told me I was lying and I had never contacted them by phone. They thenwanted to charge me a sizable late fee. This was AFTER I produced the email showing my communication with them and offered to produce my cell phone bill showing my THREE phone calls to them. I own a business myself and I WOULD NEVER treat a client I this manner. DO NOT use this company! read more

I don't know if this place has changed owners or what....but my recent experience was pretty bad. Usually, everything about this little operation has been effortless. This time, the computer was down, so I had to just leave the package with the address and instructions to ship via UPS overnight delivery. The package was .5 pounds. I was told that I would be called later in the day to get my credit card info for the charges. I was never called, but I did call them to make sure the package went out and was told that it was shipped overnight to the Phoenix address. Turns out, the package was shipped via ground, and was now en route. It would be delivered in 5 days. The person it was being shipped to was now leaving Phoenix and is headed for New Orleans. OK. I called them back to arrange for a change, and found out that the Phoenix office was waiting for Incline to call them...but that he hadn't gotten around to it yet. Then, I was told that he couldn't arrange for the change, because I hadn't paid them. Fine...you were supposed to call me and now this is all my fault? Here is the CC number, can you please do it now? Sure. It was $47.71 to ship a small 1/2 pound pouch!!!! And, it was supposed to be delivered last week to Phoenix!!!! Not even a 'my apologies' for the delay and screw up. Looks like they have lost a customer, but somehow I don't think they will care. Weird. read more

Some real customer service training is warranted here. I won't go into specifics but the rudeness of one of the staff today approaching closing time was not professional. There are many choices in the village so staff need to focus on assisting customers. This is not the Post Office so no need to adopt their attitude. The staff that runs this mail center are very helpful. I'd recommend coming here before going to the post office. They have padded envelopes, boxes, stamps and other mailing supplies, and can send parcels via USPS, FedEx and UPS. They rock! Customers joke that it is better coming here than to the local coffee shop. read more

I have used Pakmail for probably 20+ years, including at least 2 previous owners. I have never experienced a rude employee there, although sometimes it seems they are too busy to be chatty. About 10 years ago I paid to have something packed for Christmas, sent it off to my mother-in-law, only to hear that it arrived in pieces! Recently I paid Pakmail to package and ship some precious stained glass items and other family heirlooms, and everything arrived intact and on time. What a great experience, and a relief. Everything was handled professionally and without difficulty. When I called to find out about what I thought could be a late arrival, I was told that we would track it in a couple of days ( Rural area). No need. The item arrived in great condition and the recipient was very happy! Everything arrived as perfect as it was when it was shipped. Thank you Pakmail! I love this place. I moved here about 2 years ago. I came from Scottsdale where everyone has mail capabilities, so having to get a P.O. Box was a new thing for me. I went to the Post Office first. It was HORRIBLE. I was never treated so rudely before in my life. Thankfully a friend recommend Pak-Mail. Its great for MANY reasons. 1. Super convenient location 2. I SHOP A LOT ONLINE.... It's great because they can sign for your packages and hold them for you. Unlike the post office, they won't accept a package if it doesn't fix in your box. It also offers relief knowing that someone can accept your package, rather than have them delivered to your home and risk the chance of it sitting out all day, or missing the driver who needs a signature to leave it. 3. Staff is always friendly and helpful 4. They have a candy dish, perfect for just that little pick me up. :) 5. Everything you need to ship a package. 6. Reasonable 6 month or 1 year leasing options available. read more

Very nice staff. Convenient location. The employees have a very good memory - people walk in and the staff gets the package often without a word! Notary here is convenient and almost always available. However I do wish they were open later at night, but overall, it's an excellent store and a fast convenient alternative to the post office. I've been a Pakmail customer for at least a decade, and the new owner has definitely stepped up the level of service and the amenities offered. The employees are friendly, hard working, and helpful. Several are notaries. The storefront has been remodeled and is much cleaner and nicer now; it even has lockers for customers who need to pick up packages after hours. Not to mention the cookies and coffee, matching donations to local non-profits, and the cutest, friendliest shop dog you ever did see. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my shipping needs and am considering getting a mailbox there too. Best in town. read more

Horrible customer service, never use them! Let me give you a brief description about what happened/is happening............ I went to the store to ship out a small envelope with a very large check in it. I informed the girl at the counter that it was very important that it got to the shipping address by a specific date and she said okay. The girl at the counter got the "ship-to" address wrong on the printed label 5+ times, even after I gave her a printed copy of the address from the bank. The girl then told me that the envelope would get to the address by Wednesday, which was perfect because it needed to be there by Friday. She told me she was shipping it UPS and it would go out around noon today (It was a Saturday). FYI UPS does not pick up there on Saturday so my package never left the store until Monday. There was also a random phone number under my name on the UPS shipping label and when I asked what that was the girl told me the store's phone number. I asked why the stores phone number would be on my package and she told me in case it got lost, they would call the store for information. I replied by saying, "Okay but this is my package that you know nothing about so shouldn't they call me.....you don't even have my phone number to call me if they call you." The girl agreed but could not figure out how toi change the phone number in the system. Then my check got lost by UPS and an investigation was started. The UPS Package Investigation department tried contacting the store 3 times, but that message was never relayed to the manager. I then called the store asking when the manager would be there and the girl told me 3:00pm today so I asked her to leave a note for the manager and I would be in after 3:00pm. When I finally went to the store to get a refund (UPS told me to) that day, the manager never got the note and when he asked the girl, she said "Well I left you a sticky on your desk." I explained the situation to the manager, Ty, and the manager asked the girl if UPS ever called, and she said no. (UPS has the specific dates marked down in their system for when they called.) The manager told me UPS needed to send me an email stating that the package was lost and then I could get a refund tomorrow.......even though the manager was logged into the UPS tracking site and could clearly see that there was an ongoing investigation for this package. I then contacted UPS the next day where they proceeded to tell me that they tried to contact the store again and the girl told them the manager was not there. UPS then informed me that the manager would have to call them, they could not email me. I contacted the store via phone once again and the girl told me that the manager was on vacation and she is not allowed to give refunds......Okay then why did he tell me to come in today for a refund? I have now sent four emails to the manager, Ty, over the last week and I have not gotten a response once. When I first called the store for an email address the girl provided it to me and I asked is this Ty's email address or a generic one? The girl said a generic one so I asked, okay how do I know Ty will get these emails and not someone else, and she replied well you are sending an email that's how you know.........SERIOUSLY?!?!?! Not one apology has been given after everything....or my refund! I will NEVER use this store again, it is the WORST customer service and the one girl gets everything WRONG and she doesn't know what she is doing. I can understand if someone is new and they are learning, but you don't leave them in the store by themselves then! read more
