Started with alcapurria can Jueyes ( plantain with crab filling), I had trifongo con camerones ( smashed up plantains, sweet plantains and yucca) stuffed with shrimp and a garlic sauce, I will have to say a little sweet for me but, really good. Hubby had chuleta cancan, that thing is a brontosaurus rib and tostones. It was all excellent! Of the two Pal Campo restaurants near hotel row I prefer this one. Authentic Puerto Rican cuisine! Oh my We were greeted with a warm welcome and smiles and were seated immediately upon entering. My husband wanted the whole fried snapper and when I tell you they delivered - they did! We chose sweet plaintains and Bacalaitos ( not pictured) as our appetizers and we knew then everything else was going to be . They featured live Puerto Rican music this particular evening and it went well with the setting and the decor. Well, when visiting Florida from out of state, it just feels like the right thing to do to enjoy some wonderful Puerto Rican food. Pcampo fits the Bill perfectly! We had the stuffed chicken, extra sides of maduros, and yuca frita, and the beef Mofongo criollo. Everything was delicious. Our server was great! I visited Pal Campo in Dr. Phillips, and unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered the chicken wings and a bacalito. The bacalito arrived with virtually no cod fish, which was very disappointing. The chicken wings took more than 30 minutes to arrive, and once they were served, it was obvious they had been frozen and simply cooked to order. The quality was not what I've experienced at other Pal Campo locations, and it felt like this location was cutting corners on the food. That said, I want to recognize the bartender, David. He was absolutely fabulous. He has a great personality, knows how to engage with customers, and did an excellent job diffusing the situation while keeping us entertained. It was truly a pleasure sitting at his bar, and his outstanding customer service was the highlight of my visit. I hope management recognizes the value he brings to the restaurant. read more

We've been here a few times, hoping our experience would improve because we genuinely enjoy the food. Unfortunately, every visit has been the same. It seems the restaurant may not be managed as efficiently as it could be. The food consistently takes over an hour to arrive, and the servers are often not attentive. We usually have to flag someone down just to order another round of drinks, and then again for a water refill. We truly love the concept and want to continue supporting our Puerto Rican restaurant because the food is worth coming back for. We hope management can address these issues, as a better dining experience would make this one of our favorite places. read more

We stopped in for lunch and enjoyed it. This was our first time at any of their locations. I love the decore inside. They have a very long cool video screen and a full-size tree inside. It's made to look like you're dining on a porch at a restaurant in Puerto Rico. We weren't very hungry so we ordered a salad and some appetizers. My wife said the shrimp salad was great, especially after she added a side of avocado. I had one pizza and one chicken turnover along with a side of beans and rice. All were good. I have been wanting to try this place for a while but haven't since I wasn't convinced by the reviews. Came last night as a suggestion by a friend and was excited to try it. We started off with the passion fruit sangria which by our surprise went from $8 posted on the menu to $14.99 when our server told us the menus changed and showed us the higher price on her machine. That already left bad impression on me. We ordered an appetizer that had a garlic sauce that looked more like a soup. It was interesting. My entree was the cubed steak and onions with a side of white rice. The meat was salty and the rice was didn't taste like I'm used to from other restaurants like Sofriito and Pio Pio. Our server checked in on us but I had to ask for water since she didn't ask us if we wanted any. I'm glad I tried it and enjoyed the company I was with, but for the prices, I think I'll stick to our regular places. It's a good place to go with a group if you like a.loud atmosphere and music. The pechuga rellena was stuffed with sweet plantain cheese and chicken was wrapped in bacon. My side was arroz con gandules and i got some habichuelas on the side. Let's start with the portion size OMG honestly this plate could be for 3 cause it's so much food but so worth it. Chicken was good and juicy. We also ordered the El Yunque. So I'm a very loyal customer to there Lake Buena Vista location and I never had a problem there. But we decided to try their location instead tonight. We get seated instantly and the server lets us know that the food is going to take a little longer, and we let her know that it was okay. We didn't know that it was going to take 2 hours for us to get our food. During those two hours our server didn't acknowledge us at all. She didn't ask if we wanted a refill on our drinks or even an appetizer in the mean time. About 1 hour and 45 min in she came out and told us that the meat in one of the plates came out bad and that's why we haven't gotten our food yet. This should of been communicated with us way earlier. The server lets him change his meal. When his food came out the chicken was very cold. He also ordered arroz con gandules and there were no gandules. I also ordered arroz con habichuelas and there wasn't no habichuelas. When we told her that my order was missing the habichuelas she told us that I never said that. It did come off a little rude which wasn't appreciated. She did end up giving us a discount on the food which was nice, but it didn't make up for everything. Also the chairs are extremely hard I do recommend getting some cushions for them. If you're going to have customers wait 2 hours for their food, at least have them be comfortable. Say yourself some time and go to their main location!! read more

If you have never tried Puerto Rican food, this is the best place to start. Just came in for the soft opening of the Dr. Phillip's location and was very satisfied with everything. From the moment you walk in, you will feel transported to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, they have a majestic tree giving color and ambiance to the restaurant. You will also see colonial architecture and a huge screen from wall to wall displaying some of the beauty from the island. The food was 100/10, everything came hot and fresh in a timely manner. New location in Dr. Phillips has a very simple but beautiful indoor decoration. I loved the big tv that takes the entire wall showing images from Puerto Rico, like El Viejo San Juan, the beautiful beaches, places, etc. I also loved the indoor tree spreading its branches along the ceiling, a really nice touch. I found it funny and spooky at the same time the man standing at the balcony, made of a cardboard frame I would say, not sure, but it was really funny cause from far away looks like a real person. The customer service was really good. But what really disappointed me was the food. I ordered the "malanga and yautia taro cream soup" and it was nothing like the one from the location on 535, LBV. This soup was not creamy at all, nor had a smooth texture, it had chunky pieces and it had a super thick texture plus didn't tasted as good without taro. The "bacalaitos", codfish fritters, I found them a little bit overcooked, too crispy, since they are thin, but they tasted good. At the end, I'm glad they took off from my check the soup. read more

I came here and the waitress said that it was going to take a little bit longer for the food to come out. We said that's okay. We didn't expect it to take almost 2 hours for the food to come out. This will be my first negative review, but my experience at this restaurant last night was unacceptable and deserves to be addressed. From the moment we were seated, the service was painfully slow and disorganised. It took approximately 50 minutes just to get appetizer and one was still missing no explanation nothing by the server. We sat there waiting while staff repeatedly passed our table without checking in. We were in the restaurant for over two hours, and during that entire time our food was never served. I personally watched at least four other tables who were seated AFTER us receive their drinks, water, appetiser's, and full meals while we were completely ignored. This made the situation even more frustrating and embarrassing as the only black customers. Our server showed little to no attentiveness and made no effort to explain the delay or correct the issue. At no point did a manager come over to check on us or offer assistance, which shows a complete lack of accountability and customer care. To make matters worse, the restaurant refused to honor the advertised military discount. The discount was clearly promoted for service members, yet when valid proof was presented in the form of a government military ID, the discount was still not honored. This was extremely disappointing and disrespectful, especially considering the discount was advertised by the restaurant itself at the hostess desk. After two hours of waiting, being ignored, watching other guests receive full service, and being denied an advertised benefit, we had no choice but to leave without ever receiving our food. I did not ask to clear my bill but instead paid my bill IN FULL for what little that's was served and left. This experience was frustrating, time wasting, and unacceptable on every level from service, to management, to integrity. I expected far better, and unfortunately, I will not be returning. I also would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially PEOPLE OF COLOR and MILITARY SERVICE Members who expect advertised policies to be honored. read more
