Having moved from PA to Jersey last year, I've been told by many that Pal Joey's is THE spot. This is the spot locals grew up going to, and still frequent for a classic nostalgic hoagie. My girlfriend loves their Italian, but I opted for a turkey and cheese hoagie, and a chicken cutlet hoagie (suprimo). Listen, I get it now. These were great sandwiches. They had so much flavor for the simplicity of the ingredients on each. The cutlet had great, homemade taste and the sweet roasted peppers were the chefs kiss. The turkey and cheese had the right amount of everything on it. The only thing I've noticed both times I've been there is that the seeded rolls are significantly harder than the non seeded. I'm not sure if they just sat out a while, but regardless it didn't take away from my experience, just something I noticed. We ordered 2 hoagies from Pal Joey's and they were just okay. A standard Italian hoagie consists of meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Not at Pal Joey's. It's just meat and cheese. Since when do you have to tell a deli that you also want lettuce, tomato and onion? Or, if it's not automatically included, ask the customer if they want it on their sandwich. I will continue to get their macaroni salad as that is elite. Other than that, I'm done with them. read more

I was in need of comfort food today and I was close to this amazing purveyor of incredible sandwiches. so off I went to Pal Joey's! It should come as no surprise that this special sandwich shop has been named one of the best locations in South Jersey and the Delaware Valley to purchase a hoagie or a submarine sandwich or whatever you want to call it because doesn't matter what you call it. it is incredibly delicious! It's not only delicious but it's fresh with a roll that makes it all the worth while enjoying. The young wait staff we're all smiles today as they collected my phoneed in order and then gave me some of those hot peppers to toss on top of the sandwich. There is absolutely no reason to go to that chain convenience store if you want a hoagie that satisfies because there's such a huge difference. Wow just wow!!! The customer service here is exceptional!!! They all seem to really love their jobs even though they are extremely busy everyone smiling and joking around. After ordering grabbed a drink and a table. They brought out a couple huge sandsandwichs to our table. So glad we ordered the regular. I got the turkey jalapeño added shooters got some macaroni salad and a jar of peach tea. Think it was 17 and change all in. I literally had a sore jaw from opening my mouth to take bites of the mammoth. Loved everything about this place. We will be back next time in town for business forsure! Just over 13 years ago, I was working my first job ever at a retail business near Pal Joey's. I recall our manager ordering hoagies quite a bit and thinking they were pretty tasty. I haven't lived in the area in a while, but a bout of hunger while shopping in the Mantua Target propelled me and my car across the street. I ordered the sharp Italian hoagie, plus macaroni and potato salads. The wait time was reasonable -- maybe about 10-15 minutes. You can eat-in, though I ordered to go. The hoagie didn't make it home. I switched to the passenger seat in my car and devoured the thing. I live in Virginia now, and none of the places near me come close to that level of quality, from the bread to the provolone to the meats. Do you ship?? I'll be craving this until my next Jersey trip. read more

Arguably one of the Best Hoagies in South Jersey, the load up the meats and their bread is what makes the hoagie. Call ahead and they will have your order ready when you arrive, or stop in and order. They are in the Timberline shopping center. They have tables and chairs but most folks get their order to go. read more

Lots of places make hoagies/heroes/subs/grinders, but not many have the best lunchmeat, cheese and extras on great seeded bread. Service is unreal. There was a mixup with my hoagie tray for a party and the owner called me, said he would get me a new tray and offered to deliver it, himself. Nice deli style atmosphere but I always do carry-out. Heard so many great things about this place so I finally had to try it. I went here on a Friday night with my fiancé. We ordered an American whole hoagie to go. It was really good and I was impressed with it! However, I personally think there was way too much meat in the hoagie. Also, they are a little pricey compared to other hoagie shops. Staff lied about their sauce ingredients. Rude employees yelling to "get out" of the store when caught lying and saying just eat at home. Also saying that you are making a big deal out of nothing. Very disappointed, looked forward to getting a good hoagie as we normally have past few times. Had to pick up for only myself today, ordered a turkey hoagie with extra lettuce with mayo & pickle on side, very simple order. I open the paper wraper I got turkey with extra lettuce, mayo already on it & the only thing they got right was pickles on the side. I've been eating at Pal Joey's since they were located in the center of Pitman. I'll usually get an Old Italian hoagie or an Audie that's made with turkey, ham, and cheese. You can stop at almost any deli and get an average hoagie. But if you'd rather have a better than Primo style italian hoagie locally, this is the place to go. I just love this place. All of their hoagies are excellent. The Italian or sharp Italian are just spectacular...what flavors. I am also a big fan of their white tuna w mayo. And have recently started to order the turkey and cheese. The rolls are simply the best and we all know how critical that is for a hoagie to be great. From the second you walk into this place, you're going to feel at home!!! Not only are the sandwiches delicious, but the owner greets you as if you are family. The bread is SO good. I've had many hoagies in my life, from many different places, but NOTHING measures up to Pal Joey's Deli. Pal Joey certainly does not slack on the deli meat on your sandwich either.
