They were quick to respond to my website contact asking about recovery of photos from my microSD card. The card was showing corrupted and I thought I had about a year's worth of photos on it that I had not downloaded to my computer yet. I did not leave my hard drive initially because it has EVERYTHING on it and I was uncomfortable leaving it for an unknown amount of time. I opted for them to put the recovered files onto a drive they have and I would pay for that. I was grateful that they reached out and asked if I could bring my own hard drive due to the amount of files recovered (333GB from a 128GB card) because it would add an additional $110 to the original price. They appear to be good with communication as they give you a textable number, but did not respond to my requests for updates. I understand they may not be able to give exact timeframes, but it gets frustrating when it takes longer than the estimates without any updates. I am almost certain I left the microSD card in a case because I remember the worker telling me it would help because of how small the microSD card / adapter is. When I picked it up, it was not with the case, but since I could not remember exactly and even if I had left the case, they were adamant that I did not leave it, I just let it go. read more

BEWARE: This Company Practices Review Solicitation & Unprofessional Responses to Negative Feedback I recently had a very disappointing experience with Palafox Computers, and I want to warn potential customers before they decide to trust this shop with their devices. I took my Lenovo Legion laptop in for a screen replacement after it was accidentally damaged. I paid $200 for what I thought would be a like-for-like replacement and installation. However, when I got my laptop back, I immediately noticed that the display quality was subpar--colors were desaturated, and the graphics were significantly worse. Since I use my laptop for gaming, the quality was really important to me, and this was a noticeable downgrade. When I called to express my concerns, the technician reassured me that the screen they installed was the exact model needed for my laptop and that no other screen would fit. He even suggested adjusting my display settings to try to fix the problem, but that didn't help at all. This made me feel misled because, despite their assurances, the display still looked off. Fast forward to a follow-up email from the owner, Kyle Crawford, asking if I was satisfied with the service. I explained the issue again, and this time he tells me that they can order the correct screen directly from Lenovo--but it will cost $498 for the screen and installation. This was frustrating because it became clear that the original screen they installed wasn't the correct one, despite the technician's previous claims. To make things worse, when I researched the screen myself using Lenovo's "detect product" tool, I found that the correct screen costs $272, not the $384 Kyle quoted me. I also found out through his own admission that they originally installed a cheaper replacement screen to save money, because most customers supposedly wouldn't want to pay for the more expensive option. While I understand trying to offer cost-saving measures, I was never given the option to pay more for the correct screen upfront. If I had known, I would have gladly paid for the same high-quality screen that came with my laptop. What's worse, the owner's responses to one-star reviews on Google are incredibly passive-aggressive and unprofessional. I should have noticed this red flag earlier, but I trusted the company because of their good reviews. After my experience, I now realize these positive reviews are largely due to review solicitation, which means they actively ask satisfied customers to leave good reviews--this inflates their rating unfairly. If you're thinking about using Palafox Computers for repairs, I strongly recommend that you sort by the one-star reviews and see how the owner responds to dissatisfied customers. His responses are often rude and dismissive, which is not how any business should handle negative feedback. My daughter had a replacement drawing tablet sent out to her by Huion, unfortunately they didn't install the OS. So we took it here. As soon as I called I spoke to a real person not an answering service like Geek squad and was able to bring my daughters drawing tablet in the same day. They offered me $176 dollars for a 2019 MacBook Air. They said they use Apple's website to get that price and that every other store, specifically mentioned Best Buy, also use the same website. I'm no computer expert, but that offer seemed low. Took it to Best Buy and they gave me $425 store credit for it. Granted, it's store credit but I'm sure a cash offer would be much higher than $176 by Palafox Computers. I've never used them for computer work or anything else so I can't speak that, but what they offered was very slimy and not right. (There was a 2018 MacBook displayed for sale in the store for either 799 or 899, can't remember exactly.) Would not recommend. read more

Story time: Graduation day, getting photos with fam I hand my Aunt my phone, she immediately drops it. My dad tries buying one of those DIY phone repairs on Amazon, of course it doesn't work out. Saturday morning I was distraught and freaking out. My computer would not stay connected to the internet. I went online looking for anyone that could help on a Saturday morning. I called three places before Palafox Computers. Each one had a voicemail stating they were not open on the weekends. My last hope was calling Palafox Computers. The man answered on the first ring and was so happy to help me. I asked if he was available for me to bring my computer in to the shop. After just a few seconds he was able to walk me through the fix! I was stunned. DONT GO TO PALAFOX COMPUTERS, there repairs are horrible! I had them install a hard drive and they didn't even screw the blocking shell back to my computer and it completely ruined it! Also tried to sell them a perfect conduction almost brand new lap top and they quoted me a disagusting low amount for it then when I tried to negotiate with them they asked for my computer back and then made up there was so much wrong with it that they couldn't buy it more then 200 bucks when before they said that nothing was wrong with it! Last ditch effort as I was not able to repair the computer despite my extensive computer experience. Gave up and had Geek Squad look at it. No luck there either. Called Palafox and was greeted with a friendly and understanding person. Dropped the computer off and it was repaired that day. Repairman was very accommodating and explained where I went wrong. Browser was never tested. 30 minute drive to drop off on Thursday and pickup on Friday each way. They never even bothered to look at the monitor. Took PC into PC Done Right the following Monday and received huge printout for repairs needed that Palafox didn't fix. Sent screenshot of virus on PC and text to Donnis @ Palafox when I arrived home on 7-13-18. No response from Palafox. Disputed $99 charge for "All repairs come with a 30 day warranty on labor". Kyle called me from Palafox on 7-31-18 and said they would argue with American Express to maintain fees! He said I rushed them. Really??? Very very disappointed. I purchased a MacBook Air from Palafox Computers on December 12,2018. I was extremely happy with my purchase since my older Mac Pro I'd never had any problems with and it was over 10 years old. It wouldn't take updates any longer so I'd heard now about Palafox Computers and went there to get a new refurbished one. Happy happy me until this past Monday when I opened it (I only use it about once a week or so) and the LCD screen was dark on the lower half. Hmmm I thought I'll just reboot it and it'll be fine. Well I wasn't so I called Palafox Computers and brought it in and was told it must have gotten dropped or maybe a pet knocked it etc. Well, it never moves off my desk and we have no pets so? Staff tells me they can fix it by replacing the screen to the tune of $349! What! I'm not happy so they tell me they can replace at the screen cost of $308! Since it's out of warranty! I've only had it 4 months! That puts my cost of a computer I only use occasionally to about $1000! I'm not a happy camper. Should have just gone out and bought a new Apple elsewhere and it looks as though I'll now have to do that. I've referred friends here before but will no longer do so. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I went to Palafox computers to replace my hard drive and have the documents and pictures from the old one backed up to the new one. When I got my computer back, there was nothing on it. Nothing was backed up and the "lost/ threw away" my old hard drive. I lost 7 years of pictures and documents including baby pictures, wedding photos and more that I can never get back. All of my documents and papers from my masters program, graduation pictures gone! I was told I could at least get a full refund for my troubles only to be told in person I could have $99 back because they were his parts in my computer or he could take back the parts and issue a full refund.... I left in tears how could someone put a price on everything I lost because of their mistake?! In my opinion the least they could have done is issued the full refund originally promised. If you value you things don't go here they obviously don't care about the customer or things that don't belong to them. read more
