Nobody answers the phone even though it says they are open. I tried on and off for 42 minutes. Very disappointed.

They have a great selection of kid's glasses, and are always extremely patient with my sometimes wiggly kids. I would avoid this office. They charged me over $200 for my visit even though my insurance fully covers me because this office is in-network. They told me to submit a claim even though if I did that it would be considered out-of-network and I wouldn't get full coverage. After I did that my insurance told me to send back the check and to go back to the office and get them to submit a claim and give me a refund. When I called immediately Robin told me she can't backdate it, and that I didn't have insurance. Even though I had insurance, because my claim was accepted. After unresponsiveness from Special Eyes I eventually got a partial refund because I was told "I always pay $40", which I have never paid any cost out of pocket when visiting because of my insurance. The office is unresponsive to my requests for a refund. It's shady, unprofessional, and it's hard to believe that this office stole money from me and will get away with it. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. I know I will. read more

This is my go-to place for eyeglasses. I have a huge level of trust in these people: optometrist Dr. Jennifer Morcos and optician Robyn Apple. I hate having anyone poking around near my eyes, but Dr. Morcos has the greatest "bedside manner" - she is very personable, gentle, and explains the exam every step of the way. I also come here because I have no sense of what glasses look good on me. Thankfully, Robyn does - I've bought about four pairs here and she has never led me astray. She spends time with you to make sure you get a frame that works for your face. I consider this important, because it's the one accessory that is on your face every day. Luckily, I now have VSOP insurance, so that helps. (I once bought a pair here without VSOP, because of my comfort level with this shop). They sell many designer frames: BCBG by Max Azaria, Nine West, Anne Klein, DKNY, Cynthia Rowley, Miu Miu, Prada.... Selection is large! Highly recommended! read more

My eye doctor Christopher wood referred me to special eyes in Arlington Heights. When I walked in I was greeted by one of the office staff . When I walked in I was amazed on how beautiful and clean this place was. I was looking for a place to find a pair of eyeglasses. This person helped This employee helped me to find a pair of eyeglasses. I was surprised by the huge selection they had. I did find a pair of frames and ordered them with lenses. When I received my glasses and lenses I couldn't be more happier.My lenses they were made perfectly to my prescription and the frame fit perfectly. I would like to say thank you Rebecca, Kathy and Essa for all the help they gave me as a customer. You all were professional and courteous and this made for pleasant experience. Terrible follow up and customer service. Very disappointed after receiving recommendations from two friends. I've been waiting eight weeks for sample lenses and I am the one that had to follow up twice on the status. When I called and politely explained that this is not the level of customer service I was expecting, I was told that they're very busy. Last time I checked, I was the customer. All I was looking for was an acknowledgment that they dropped the ball on following up with me. The desire for happy customers sorely missed the mark. read more

I paid over $600 for a pair of glasses I still can't see clearly out of. They did change out my lenses a couple of times but I have never had such an expensive pair of glasses that I can't see clearly out of, I was warned I would have to pay even more if I changed out the lenses again. No one in my company paid nearly as much as I did for glasses. Go elsewhere. read more

Tried it, hated it, back to my insurance referral page. My, how things have changed (apparently). Steer clear, I warn you. The doctor was good and the glasses function, but the rest of my year's worth of experience was definitely sub-par. The charges were kind of random and I got a lot of pushback on whether my prescription was still good. It should be fairly easy to tell if a year has passed, right? My ideal doctor's office knows how to work a calendar correctly. I don't really feel like these are unreasonable demands. My other doctors don't insist I miss work to come in for "yearly" examinations every 11 months. OH YEAH, and then there's the part where the office staff found my original Yelp review, matched it to me, and then CHEWED ME OUT FOR IT in front of another patient. What kind of completely insane thought process takes you to a place where that is acceptable customer-centric behavior? I think I'll go to Wal-Mart. At this point it would be a huge improvement. read more

My initial reaction was, "what the hell did I get myself into?" As sad as it is, first impressions matter and it wasn't good. The staff seemed disorganized and dressed incredibly unprofessional. The optometrist, however, was awesome. She's down to earth and not trying to sell you everything on the shelf. I went here recently to get a new pair of glasses (I already had a current prescription from another eye doctor). The woman who helped me select frames was friendly and extremely helpful. I showed her one pair I liked and she quickly produced four more possibilities. She and Robyn gave me their opinions of which frames looked best, and I ended up choosing the ones they (and my husband) thought looked best. I've had them several weeks now and am really happy with them! I went in expecting to hem and haw in uncertainty, but it ended up being a quick and painless experience. I recently went back to have my glasses adjusted, and Robyn took care of it immediately. She was pleasant and encouraged me to come back if/when they need to be adjusted again. I asked, and was told that Robyn and the eye doctor are the co-owners. I think Robyn said she has been doing this for 30 years! I'm happy to support this locally-owned business and have already been recommending it to friends! read more

I literally just went it for an appointment this morning. I handed my insurance information in, went in for my exam, had my appointment,ordered my contacts and headed home. Now mind you I've been going here for years, except for last year. I decided to go back here and guess what 2 hours later I get a call saying that my insurance wasn't going to pay for anything I had done today because I wasn't currently eligible. Uh you think maybe this is something you should have checked before I went ahead and went through the appointment? I called back after the phone call and asked why wasn't this checked, she said well you went in and did your appointment and left. I told her this was very misleading to customers, and she said we'll just write if off than and hung up on me. I'm completely mortified that after so many years with this office this is how I was treated. read more

Special eyes is totally "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" I have been wearing glasses since 2nd grade and this is by far the best place i have ever gotten glasses. They have a great selection of cool frames here, and Robyn has a great eye for what looks good on you. She is also a master at adjusting my frames, which look like a truck drove over them by the time i bring them in. Dr. Morcos is so super sweet and thorough. Love this place! read more

EXCELLENT care for the whole family! I brought my children here for years and they are now adults and still come for their eye care needs. Robyn is VERY helpful and always helps you make excellent decisions about which frame looks good on you. She's always been great at helping with my insurance coverage also. Dr. Behave is FANTASTIC! Just had my exam with Dr. Patel yesterday, and LOVE her! She's thorough and efficient and gave me some great ideas for addressing my severe dry eye that are realistic for my budget and my habit of forgetting meds. I had not been back for a while and last time I saw the previous doctor, who was also really nice and excellent at her job so it was a relief to know that while the doctor had changed, the excellent care had not. I also did not get a lecture about having waited so long since my last exam! Robyn helped me find two terrific pairs of glasses and navigated my insurance coverage to get me the best value. I tried a couple of other eye doctors out of convenience (e.g. closer to my office, etc.) which only confirmed that Special Eyes is superior. The staff is skilled, professional and very nice. The first pair of contacts came in and the left contact felt weak so I went back and she re-examined me had the contact re-ordered. I firmly believe that this place has the best customer service. FIRST TIME & NEVER COME BACK. It's true when people say first impression is very importance so I'm not so please when I first come here when they don't care about customers. First, It took me more than 10 minutes driving around the block and trying to locate the store. Outside design looks stupid in a way that the entrance is on the street but they have the store sign off the street and of course I'm like about 15 minutes late when I was in the store and they have only 1 customer. Second, when I called in before and spoke to the lady who scheduled the appointment for eyes exam to help me locate the store, (if you knew that you won't take me in then why didn't you ask me on the phone?), told me to reschedule another appointment when I was in the store already and I was like, excuse me, thank you! After seeing the favorable Yelp reviews, I was excited to make an appointment at Special Eyes. Unfortunately, they seem impossible to get a hold of. I have tried calling 3 times during business hours, to which nobody has answered. I left a voicemail and it has been over a week with no return call. The answering service almost sounds like someone's personal voicemail as the greeting concludes with "leave a message and I'll call you back". They must not have a receptionist at this business, and based upon not being able to get ahold of them, I'll be making an appointment somewhere else. Business must be going well at Special Eyes to not answer the phone or return a call from potential new customers. read more

I have been going to Special Eyes for years - back when Dr. Marcos was there. I love the new Dr. Patel - she is just great - very friendly and professional. Robyn Apple is an expert who knows just what is right for you - she can find you the right glasses just like that. She's knowledgeable and is very down to earth - really sweet woman. My lenses always come out perfect - my vision is crisp and clear. I will never go anywhere else to have my prescription filled. Last year I went to See and got a pair of glasses which were great, but it's just not the same as Special Eyes. I take my son here for his eye exams, too. Great business and great staff! read more

Scam, scam, scam! Robin (part owner) is a scam artist, condescending, unprofessional. She scammed us out of $679!!! The office is ridiculously unprofessional in customer service and professional presentation! If you order contacts...heads up....YOU have to follow up with them, they won't call you, even when your contacts arrive! Order glasses with ridiculously over priced lenses that they promise you if you don't like them, they will "Never make you pay for something that you are unhappy with." Not true! Ask for a detailed receipt about what your insurance covers and what you will pay out of pocket FAT chance! Robin (the cancer of the place) finger hops on a calculator randomly entering numbers that you can't make sense of at all and then never gives you a detailed receipt. For 3 weeks, I've called, begged and pleaded and was always told the same answer from Robin: "We are so busy." What?!?! Light bulb...yes light bulb should of came on weeks ago, but I was desperately trying to find the good in this in town retailer and eye "dr"...all I found was that this is how they pay for their expansion! White collar crime and insurance scammers! Stay away....far away....unless you have money to burn! Any positive review is poop posted from friends and relatives to divert attention to the negative posts! BTW another Robin red flag is when she comments that the vision insurance you have doesn't cover much....I've heard her say to other people in front of me. So pathetically unprofessional. read more
