I have been going here for years! The staff has been working here and are really friendly. The biggest pet peeve for any health appointments is whether or not they are on time. In my experience, they have always been on time! Dr. Shahid is very friendly and thorough and she explains everything throughout the exam. Also, she doesn't take things too lightly and has recommended me to see another specialist to take some additional tests. After the exam, the staff is very helpful and makes sure to explain what is covered with my insurance. The answer any questions I have and give me the best options to ensure my out of pocket costs is down to the minimum. If I order anything like new glasses or contacts, they come in pretty quickly. Communication is great, I get a call, text or email. Lastly, if I need any adjustments, I walk right in and the staff is quick to make adjustments to my eye-ware. I was on the way to see my Aunt that is in a physical rehab facility in Palatine and her glasses were in bad shape. I stopped in the Palatine store and was lucky enough to be greeted by Maggie at the front door. I showed her the glasses, and she said let me try to help can you give me a couple of hours. The staff is great here. I went in for an eye exam and gave them whatever I needed for them to know because I have some pretty bad vision. When it came to choosing my eyewear, Maggie was very helpful. I also asked her for many opinions on frames and she gave it to me! I love that! Every staff member I encountered there was friendly and helpful. They weren't competitive, nor were they uncomfortable. They take precautions for COVID, which is great. They make sure not to allow for the store to crowd too much. I got a great pair of glasses and Maggie helped me with regards to making sure they fit properly. She was helpful and kind throughout the whole process. I got my glasses within a week and they fit and feel great. They have a good selection of designer frames, which is what I was looking for. I have been coming to the palatine location and seeing the same optometrist for many years. They are all so friendly and helpful. But Dr Shahid deserves a special shout out. She found a possible condition during a typical annual exam and recommended I see an opthalmologist to determine my status. This was a very concerning situation because if I had the condition I was at risk of having an "attack" that could lead to blindness. Ofcourse I went to have my eyes examined and without going into the details the opthalmologist I saw did not find a problem. I didn't think much of it again until a couple years passed and Dr Shahid, still concerned, strongly recommended I see a particular Doctor she trusted and have my eyes re-evaluated. Not only was it confirmed I had the condition, but it had worsened. I had unknowingly been at greater risk during that time. I received laser surgery which largely corrected the problem. I am very thankful for Dr Shahid's determination to go beyond the first opthalmologist inability to diagnose closed angle glaucoma. read more

I have an unusual prescription and vision insurance. When I inquired about my final cost, the woman waiting on me went to the back room to make a call. I was suspicious because she had just gathered information on the computer in front of her. She came back and said my lenses would cost an additional $200. I declined and when I got home I called the insurance company and was told my lenses were covered under the policy. I went to another provider and there was no extra charge. read more

Horrific customer service, I will not be bringing my business back to pearl vision and in particular this store. I have been trying for a couple weeks to find a time when I can speak to the manager about my issue and about the poor customer service, the manager has the easiest hours I have ever heard of and working a 40 hour week myself, can never contact the manager, because the manager doesn't work nights or weekends and leaves by 4:30... There was an employee who was very rude and inconsiderate about my need for glasses, the lens wasn't correct and that was somehow my fault... Well, that was a wasted week and a half. In a nutshell, I came in for my eye exam and to order my glasses last Saturday. That visit went well enough, and I was promised an update call later in the week, and my glasses no later than Friday. Come Saturday I had yet to received a call so I stopped by the store. The staff on hand seemed shocked by my appearance and scrambled to determine the status of my glasses. After much running about and file checking, it was determined that my glasses would be ready on Monday. So... Monday I receive a call from the store informing me that the lab that applies the Crizal coating had badly scratch my lenses--all four of them--the same Crizal coating that I had received the serious hard sell on. It was suggested to me that I come in that evening to pick up one of the scratched pairs for use until a couple of new sets could be delivered. At the store that evening I was presented with a pair of glasses that did not, in any way, improve my vision. In fact, when wearing them it was impossible for me to read anything within arms reach of my face. When I noted this, I received a lengthy lecture on how I needed to get used to the glasses. I protested, arguing honestly that I simply could not see anything up close. The staffer was insistent that I try them for a while. I acquiesced, and left the store with my scratched temporary glasses. It was in the car that it became clear (pun intended) that the lens prescription was horribly wrong. With the glasses on I was unable to read anything on the instrument panel--including the speedometer--something I could easily do without the glasses. I was given my money back with no difficultly, but am now out more than a week of my time and am no closer to owning a needed set of glasses. read more

These were my family optometrists for two years. I'm not sure what happened to Dr. Medema, but the new guy was also good. The assistants were always courteous and the service fast. Got two pairs of glasses for my daughter here in just over two years and she loved them both. My only complaint is that their contact lenses were way overpriced. I spent $125 on a six-month supply of contacts; have since found I can get the same contacts online for about $70. read more

What a disaster! I let myself get talked into buying the Crizal "scratch resistant" lenses. In a few days I went to pick up my glasses, and took them home (I was wearing contacts at the time). When I got them home I realized one of the lenses was scratched. I called the store and the technician informed me I would have to wait a few more days for a new lens to come in. When the lens came in I went to the store and had it replaced (to their credit they did in about 20 minutes). It was then that I noticed that the new lens was scratched! The technician talked me into ordering new Crizal lenses from a different supplier (yeah, makes no sense to me either). As the technician was talking to me he popped the lenses in and out using his bare fingers and in the process made one small scratch into two big ones rendering the glasses useless. So much for "premium scratch resistant lenses" huh? Now I have to waste more time getting my lenses fitted at another place thanks to the crack squad at Pearle Vision Palatine and the substandard products they sell at a premium price... Avoid if you value your time and sanity! read more

I highly recommend Perl Vision in Palatine. The doctor Saima Shahid was very professional knowledgeable and attentive during the eye exam. The staff especially Julie goes above and beyond to offer personalized, friendly and efficient service making the entire experience from setting up an appointment, to receiving my new glasses a positive one. She did a nice job to see what insurance coverage I might have. Also, she offered her help to find out if my old frames might be used to make me new glasses. A few days later she called me to let me know that their technician has no problem to use my old frame. It was rally great news for me. I already lost my hope after I asked 5 or 7 other optical locations if they could use this old frame and they replied that it's not possible or they do not have screws and I have to buy new frame. I ordered new lessens with old frame. After 2 weeks I received text message that the glasses are ready to pick up. When I was picking up the glasses I asked Julie if they could replace my temple tips and nose pads. She did it on the spot within a few minutes and when I wanted to pay for it she replied that in their location it's for free. After my granddaughter accidentally stepped on my $300 Arminis, bent the frame and popped out the lenses, I thought they were trashed. I drove to where I bought them, only to find them closed. I did some internet searching on "Best Eyeglass Repair in Palatine," and I landed at Pearle Vision. JULIE was absolutely amazing! She spent about 1/2 hour re-mounting my lenses, straightening the frames, and even improvising a repair with fishing line for a missing frame part.
