The Urban Farms Market isn't huge, but it seems to be getting the job done. The small interior…read morespace is dark and cool, and there are bins full of reasonably priced lettuce, potatoes and citrus. A few grocery items (like cereal and milk) are available, there's locally grown coffee and there's a cold case loaded with drinks, prepared food and Las Delicias guacamole. When I was there yesterday afternoon, people were shopping from outdoor tables loaded with food that had been grown down the street at the Urban Farms Market's namesake urban farm. I picked up a box of cherries, a huge bag of basil, some red and yellow striped heirloom tomatoes and some chips and a tub guacamole (which was gone with an hour of getting home). It was awesome to shop farmer's market style in the middle of the week (and to know that I could go back the next day if I wanted more).

This market is just one of many area additions helping to revitalize this part of town. The food is brought in from the neighborhood farm that drew quite a but of skepticism when it was first started. The fruit & veggies are plentiful, fresh & very affordable making it a great option for anyone on a limited budget. The store is also stocked with goodies like chicken salad, guacamole, free-range eggs, fresh milk (in the glass jar), honey, local-grown coffee, etc. This is a great place to pick up fruits & veggies if you juice or make smoothies often. Today, I left with 1 gallon-sized bag of spinach, a huge bundle of cilantro, 2 lemons, 4 bananas, 2 avocados, 1 bell pepper & a bottle of honest tea for $12. A few bonuses to this market are that it's open Tuesday through Saturday, closes at 6pm during the week and has an indoor & outdoor area. Currently, there is a Facebook check-in special for 10% off your purchase or a free cup of coffee. If you buy a UFM reusable canvas bag for $10, you get a percentage off your purchase each time you use it. This market accepts cash & credit/debit.

The produce is consistently high quality, and the overall shopping experience feels curated and elevated compared to most grocery options in the area. The luxe atmosphere understandably comes at a premium, and while the pricing can be steep, I recognize that different operating models create different price structures. That said, the meat counter can be a little confusing. While most items are priced per pound, a few are priced per piece -- a distinction that isn't immediately clear unless you study every tag. I picked up a single filet that I later learned was $25 for what appeared to be roughly an 8 oz cut. Not ideal, but even high beef prices aren't enough to keep me away from a store with this kind of selection. What will give me pause, however, is the service I received at the meat counter. The attendant working that day -- identifiable by very prominent neck tattoos -- was one of the rudest employees I've encountered in any grocery store, let alone one where items can run $50 per pound. Her initial greeting was an abrupt "What do you want?" followed immediately by turning her back to me to joke with a colleague. When she finally returned, I pointed to the steak I wanted, and she deliberately picked up a different one while giving me attitude. The entire interaction was dismissive and unnecessarily unpleasant. On my way out, I mentioned the experience to the manager, and she was wonderful -- attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic. She assured me she would address the situation, and based on her professionalism, I believe she will. I don't enjoy commenting on customer service in Memphis, but when a store operates at such a premium, the service really does need to meet at least a baseline standard. Neutral, polite, and minimally attentive shouldn't be too much to ask. I hope this was an isolated incident, because the store itself is exceptional.

This store has always been organized every time I visit and that makes for a great shopping experience. Sprouts is my go to for some fruits, veggies and tea. I always check the dates, no matter where I am. The review process in my opinion. Should be based on the store itself, it's cleanliness, stock, and staff. I personally thought this store was very clean. The staff I delt with were also very helpful. You can tell they take pride in how the shelves look as well. They were very neat and all the food I seen was fresh. This is not easy for certain things (Like Fruit & Veggies) Im also not a big health nut. I should be! I wish more places like this existed. I drove to this one from Southaven Mississippi. We dont have anything like this local. The main reason I drove to this store. Was for the Porta Brand Pizzas. I cant even begin to express how good they are for a frozen pizza. They are made in Italy with all fresh ingredients. They are also not very cheap! I do think they are so much better for you than the standard frozen pizza. The Mushroom pizza is my favorite and I just recently became a fan of mushrooms. I did get serveral other items that are hard to find in my local stores. I was personally very impressed with this locations stock and staff. The cleanliness was above average. I did notice. They dont have many check out lines open. I also didnt see a bunch of people shopping. You cant fault them on not keeping five lines open. When there is not a big crowd. I would highly reccomend it.

Still don't have my coffee, but I did find a couple things to make the trip worth it. Hope the crisp treat is as good as Muddy's is.
