Great food. Ambiance was also good. The staff and service were not as great. I would go back again.

We were seeing a show at 7:30 PM, so had a reservation for 6:00 PM, but we didn't need it (on this Thursday). It's a small-medium sized restaurant. Service from both our waiter and the owner ("Freddie") was in good spirits. We told them we had a show at 7:30. They had nice choices of wine by the glass (including Montepulciano & Chianti) and beers. Two of my buddies ordered bourbon and vodka. We sat at a round table in a corner by the front window and above us was a chalk board with the special dishes of the day. There was a complimentary Italian bread basket with butter. I skipped appetizers and ordered the Veal Romano (medallions with chopped tomatoes & artichokes in a lemon, white wine & garlic sauce, that came with a side of spinach (oil and garlic sauce) (other side choices were escarole, broccoli or pasta). Delicious - well cooked. On the low side of moderately priced. Bathroom was clean. We were out by 7:10 ... perfect. I'll be back.

This is a fabulous old school Italian restaurant, with absolutely delicious fare. This evening was…read moreour first time dining at this establishment, and fortunately I made a 5:30 PM reservation. When we arrived the restaurant was only partially filled. Fortunately, we did arrive early, since over the next hour the restaurant filled up, with quite a few people waiting for a table. The restaurant is unpretentious, with seating fairly close together. Now for the food. Before ordering, the owner stopped by, and told us some of the restaurants history, and him being the longtime owner of over 4 decades. He then recited the evenings specials along with interjecting a couple of very funny stories. Each special sounded incredible, and we began our meal with a couple of glasses of a tasty Montepulciano. We shared, one the evening's special appetizers of luscious & creamy zucchini flowers. For entrees my wife ordered one the specials of shrimp stuffed with lump crab meat, in a lobster sauce. She couldn't stop talking about how fantastic it tasted. My only comment was although outstanding, the portion size consisted of 4 shrimp, which was more than enough for my wife, but someone with a bigger appetite may find the order a bit skimpy. For my entree I was drawn to something, which I rarely see on a menu, chicken livers. Although, I thought, for sure, that was what I would choose, the owner in going over the specials cited some of the best menu items, one of which was lasagna. I then told the owner about my dilemma, and I asked him to choose, and the lasagna won out. Although, I missed not having the chicken livers, I consider myself a lasagna aficionado, and, without question, this lasagna moved up to near the top of the list. We ended the meal by having a homemade chocolate layer cake, which was divine. I apologize for not taking any pictures, but I was so excited about the food that my taste buds overrode any thoughts of snapping photos. Finally, definitely run to this restaurant ASAP, but, if possible, I recommend, if possible, to go during the week to avoid the crowds of an obviously very popular restaurant.

Never checked to see if everything came out as ordered or if we needed anything. Only came back when it was time to pay the bill and impatiently stood there until we were done.

All of their fresh pastas are very yummy but the biggest standout was the truffle gnocchi. I ordered many truffle pastas in NY and across Italy and this was the best Ive had by far. We ahead with this restaurant to host a bridal shower and everything was lovely. I had the baked Branzino the second time I visited and it was tasted fresh but lacked flavor. Great cocktails and extensive wine list! Service: 5/5 - friendly staff that are fast and efficient. Ambiance: 5/5 - I love it! The meatball appetizer was cool. Our drinks were amazing. That said my brother got the halibut. I got the red snapper special. They need to learn how to cook fish both were incredibly overcooked and the weight staffed and come over to check on us and we are honestly in a rush to head back to a concert so we just ate it and gave a decent tip and there was really no time to really tell them what was going on in terms of the cookery of the fish, but hopefully they see this and slap their cook around a little bit. Let them know that they need to take the fish off a little bit sooner. Can't wait to go back and try it again though and hopefully they'll know how to cook fish by then. But I'll probably end up getting a pizza or something I'm
