Came here for a slice of pizza and a drink. To say the atmosphere was drab doesn't convert how depressing it is there. I asked for one slice warm and one slice hot then got two slices that were hot, so they didn't listen or care. The Crust is pretty good but the sauce is basically tasteless I was also told I couldn't eat outside because that is for people who want a waiter and I just wanted to eat right out of the box on my own and be left alone. So that was weird too. Basically, I live around the corner from this place and will never go. The only reason I took a chance was because Bellisimos closed ...Hopefully a new pizza restaurant opens nearby sometime soon. read more

We have been to Pepe's several times with large groups mostly for Pizza which is excellent and this is not a Pizza joint. I had Rigatoni Bolognese which was absolutely delicious. Linguini Scampi the presentation was beautiful and that too was delicious.. Another great dish was the Gorgonzola and Pear Salad topped with tender golden Chicken Breast, hearty and presented so well it matched the taste. The service was on the money all the way, you order and all the routine things are automatically handled without effort. The Restaurant decor is nice, all the tables have White linens and napkins. You can go from appetizers to Pizza to delicious entre's and hero's. Great for family's and groups. Plenty of outdoor seating, small parking lot but plenty of street parking as well. I ordered the shrimp and avacdao wrap, my coworkers ordered a chicken panini and another type of sandwich. I usually come in for a couple glasses of wine and typically they act like sitting at the bar as an issue which is strange because there's never anyone in the restaurant when I come. The restaurant is a cross between a nice pizza place and a family style Italian restaurant. Therefore, I never expect much from a wine list at places like this but you do want to see something appetizing. The first bottle I tried was a Fiano but it wasn't great so we moved to a Rose which was better. Pizza was good - thin crust and the sauce was tasty. Our group of 6 devoured 2 pies as an appetizer and then ordered entrees. I had the Chicken Rocco (pictured) which consisted of a chicken breast with soppresata and fresh mozzarella & pine nuts; it was also good. We came on a Saturday night and the place was very busy. We frequently order from here since we have been quarantined and We love them . There chicken is always tasty, the eggplant is fresh .. the pasta is delicious. We love the fact you can now order wine from them due to quarantine. .. but I must say the one thing that makes us constantly order is there dessert more specifically the tiramisu. I have been to Italy, Greece and around the world and I can truly say that Pepe Rosso has one of the best Tiramisu I have ever had in my life . It's fresh, the top layer creme has this perfect layer of cream and chocolate, the expresso in this dessert isn't over bearing.. every bite is pure perfection. We used to share a piece but now we each get one because it's that good . Usually when we go to Pepe Rosso, the food is good and the servers are wonderful. We decided to have a party there this month and unfortunately it was too hot and uncomfortable to enjoy ourselves. The party ended after two hours, before the cake was served, therefore there was no tea or coffee served. There was no ventilation and no air conditioning even though it was 90 degrees outside. My sister checked the thermostat in the room, it was set at 70 but it read 87. No wonder why our guests left dripping in sweat. I would never think that you need to request or ask if there are open windows or air conditioning in a restaurant. So if you are planning a party there be sure to confirm that the air conditioning is working. There was also a party going on outside and I think the wait staff was over worked. read more

My husband and I have been here a few times. The food has always been OK. Tonight, we went there around 9 p.m. My husband ordered veal parmigiana and I ordered eggplant parmigiana. We both asked for linguini on the side, rather than the penne it came with. They said that it would be $1 each for the substitution. We said, "OK." His veal was mediocre, at best. My eggplant was inedible. It was as if someone had poured tomato sauce over raw dough. Totally tasteless. I sent mine back--the first time in my life I've ever sent back eggplant parmigiana. I told them I'd just have the small bowl of linguini that had come with the eggplant, because it was too late to order something else. When the check came, I expected that they'd throw in the $1 linguini, with an apology, since the dining experience had been awful. I was wrong. They now charged $6.95 for the linguini, calling it a "side dish." It's a shame the food was awful, but beyond idiotic that they jacked up the price of the small bowl of linguini. Our kids just moved to Port Washington, so Pepe Rosso was starting to become our default Italian restaurant. Now we'll never go back. They lost 5 customers because they were so stupid. read more

So sad and disappointing- haven't dined in house for a while - came Last month for dining room service - love his sausage crumble pasta and Caesar salad and today decided to dine on the other side for a thin crusted pizza with sausage and ricotta cheese - edges were burned but middle was - always love the Caesar salad!!!! - the carry takeout area was dark, in disarray and lacked life, boxes all over and not usual Standards - it used to be that you would walk into a restaurant with Owner Michael present and you would be greeted as if your were family - covid has sucked the life out of all sadly - the utensil and condiment area looked as if it had not been cleaned since last year, the staff quiet but nice - I can't wait for things to get back to normal - hopefully The old Michael will return and the staff will be happy again! Salvatores was closed so we ended up at this place, which was very busy for a Monday night. We had a caesar salad and one of their thin crust pizzas. It took forever to be served. Attempts to gain the attention of the wait staff were met with blank stares. The presentation of the food was sloppy and the salad didn't taste right. The pizza with prosciutto was just OK. It's a shame to see that the space previously occupied by the venerable Razzanos doesn't seem to take much pride in the quality of food or service. read more

When it comes to ordering a pie or picking up a slice, I have always been down for this place. But the reason I came here is the service that I have had inside the restaurant. I've been coming here for quite a while. At first the service was great. But lately it has been very lackluster. Months ago a friend and I went to go there to eat. We did not &, while the dining room was not even half fun, we were refused service. The fact that they were fully booked was fine, it is great for their business. It was more of the attitude we got from the host that was was unacceptable. There was no sympathy or perhaps an option to sit in the smaller pizza area. It was basically "tough sh*t, better luck next time" Today was a beautiful day and that same friend & I thought eating outside would be great. We decided to hit up Pepe Rosso for lunch since they have a couple tables outside. My friend's stomach doesn't handle cheese very well, so when she ordered her pizza, she requested to have very little cheese on it. When it arrived , it was covered in parmesan cheese...which was not listed on the menu as on the pie. We called over the waiter and said that there was cheese all over it and she couldn't eat it. When the waiter went inside, we heard some yelling going on inside. He popped his head back out and said that he told them to put no cheese on it at all. When another gentleman brought out the pizza, it had half as many toppings on it as before (there was barely any prosciutto when before it was plentiful). Also it was covered in cheese once again, this time mozzarella. It lined the entire bottom & was on the top over the toppings. This was clearly a "F- You" from the chef. My friend tried to eat it, but could barely get through half after dissecting each piece. The waiter didn't seem concerned that there was so much left on her plate. For a place I have ate so many times before, this last experience makes me never want to eat there again...be it for a slice or for a full meal with friends. read more

I honestly believe Port Washington has one too many pizzerias, but if they can deliver some great pizza, more power to them. This is the case with Pepe Rosso. From the time they've opened their doors on Manorhaven Blvd. they have yet to disappoint me. Their pizza is cooked to near perfection as the crust is soft without being rubbery. The sauce is flavorful and not tangy. I love their chicken parmesan pasta dinner as the chicken is cooked nicely with the crust being crispy, yet the chicken is tender and juicy. Only this year my husband and I started taking our dog to the dog park on the same boulevard and we passed this restaurant and noticed it. First impression of first time here is "perfecto"! The soonest we were seated, water and bread basket were served. When we don't have to ask for basic stuff, we know who we're dealing with - the professionals. Then our waiter came within 2 mins to get the order. And he didn't forget to bring our drink first while waiting for the food! Then here comes the first meal appetizer hot antipasto, "delizioso"! Not long after that, our entrees of the night - black linguini with seafood and my husband had thin crust pizza - "fantastico"! Thin crust pizza is extremely crust and thin, no kidding! They really know how to make it. I'd suggest to try this with other meal you plan to order because this is a "must-try" pizza. My seafood pasta is one of the best meals! I finished them all. The place is very cozy and quite romantic. It's fine dining, so everything is fine here *:) Before leaving the restaurant, we had a chance to speak with the owner and his son. It was nice to meet the owner of the restaurant on our first night there. So we know they're available and reachable to attend to their customers. I am really disappointed with Pepe Rosso tonight. When I am in Port Washington (which is often for work), they are my go to pizza place. I always love it. Tonight I placed a (very simple) order at 7:10, and received a confirmation at 7:15 with a delivery time of 8:00. I missed a call from the restaurant at 7:50 and naturally called back. Spoke to someone very rude who said he had no idea why I was called and all he knew was that (reminder - at 7:50) my order had "already left & would arrive any minute." We hung up... my order did not arrive until after 8:20. More than a half an hour later. The delivery guy seemed annoyed, at best, and very distraught. Shoved my food at me through the door, mumbled "sorry I am so late" and rolled his eyes then walked away. Very rude. And, needless to say, my pizza was ice cold and drink warm. This may be the last time I order from them, since I dealt with more than one rude staff member and wasted good money on cold food. read more

This place is very hit or miss for me. I've been about 4 times (2 with prior management, 2 with current management) and I just can't get into it. The waitstaff was rude to me both times I came here with my boyfriend (as oppose to my older, father) and the food just isn't good enough to deal with the service. I remember their fried zucchini was good (although very greasy.. but it is fried), but their chicken was tough. Pecan pie was good too, but nothing I haven't had 100 times. A little surprised that the yelp community doesn't embrace Pepe Rosso. Taken in context (neighborhood italian restaurant), Rosso is surely above average. Food: Salads are always fresh, crisp and delicious, no wilted lettuce here. Pasta is served al dente and piping hot. Pizza, regular and thin crust are pretty good, thin crust is crispy and delish, slices hold up to toppings without going limp. Service: Wait staff is always great when eating in, and very accomodating for our 10 month old (since he was about 2 months). Delivery is very prompt and their drivers are super friendly. Pro Tip - join their rewards club, they regularly send out 15% off coupons to use on pickup and delivery orders, $1 spend = 1 point, 150 pts = $10 off coupon.
